Shazza- so nice to have helpful kids
Had to smile about the beers- I find half a drink is enough for me these days & only once in a while. Tonic water makes a good substitute for me.
Woody, I'm glad your hubby is on the mend. Scary stuff cutting off fingers. It's always inconvenient too!
Thinking of you tomorrow for your port placement Kiwi. Hope it goes well.
Nice to see you Terre. Yes it is Aussie Chrissy coming over. I won't be able to join you as I'll be in the South Island (yay -I really need a holiday!)
We spent a couple of hours painting this morning. A couple of friends helped so we got lots done. Then a nice catch up over lunch.
Time for a rest before work tomorrow now

Thanks for the welcome!
Love the three beers....I'm the world's cheapest date - one or two glasses of wine and I'm tipsy.
Just had a $1000 weekend between the vet, the Warehouse, and groceries. But I'll sure try to find a way to get to Auckland at the end of the month. Would be easier if it was the following weekend as I get paid monthly on the last day of the month.
Glad your hubby is home, Woody and that he didn't sever the entire tendon. Bummer about the bedroom; hope someone can help you guys out!
Hugs to all,

Hi all.
Has a lovely day yesterday with group of friends from way back. Don't get together so often now all our children have grown.
And this afternoon neighbours came over to eat up the leftovers. Now I am sitting knitting.
Terre we would love to have you come North. Just let me know if you can come.
Ange just set a date in December for out Auckland brunch and let's do it.
Good luck with the port 66. You will be fine. When do you start chemo?
Big huga

Thanks for the good wishes for the port tomorrow. I am very nervous about it, but can see the benefits as my veins aren't great at the best of times.
Alyson, I start chemo on Wednesday morning.
Woody so pleased that your hubby is home.
Glad everyone has had a good weekend - I'm on top of my housework ready for whatever this week brings.

hey Nikki - good wishes from me too for the port tomorrow...look forward to hearing it all went smoothly and you're home again relaxing before Wednesday.
Glad everyone's had ok weekends. Your weather up north sounds like it has been better than here.
Terre - I live in Lower Hutt so yes not too far away from you in Otaki (an hour) - you are in the middle of Midnight and I. Are you working right in Wgtn city? That must be a drag commuting everyday - or do you train in? I will be spending a bit of time in Otaki and Levin next year doing shifts with St John as I'm studying. We might need to swap houses LOL
I have a hospital checkup with my rad onc tomorrow - he's just following up with me on the scans and tamoxifen.

Hi all you Kiwi Girls! Just thought I would pop in and extend the invite to catch up with as many as possible of you for lunch or dinner (or both) on the 29th of this month. There are three (that I know of) Aussies (including me) coming across the ditch to pay a visit and I know we would all love to see as many of you as is possible.
If you could let Aly know if you can that would be lovely.........she is our organizer for the weekend.
Hoping I see some of you there!
Love n hugs all! Chrissy

Chrissy, Hi. I sure hope the weather improves before you get here. I'm working on the 29th but will be able to join the fun in the afternoon sometime. I'm looking forward to meeting some BCO girls.
Nikki hope everything goes well with the port today. It will be worth it. M so in love with mine
Lordy the weather is terrible in Auckland today. I don't start work till midday so I'm still hunkered down in bed with my coffee and toast.
Hope everyone has a great week. I can't believe its November already!!!!

Good luck tomorrow Kiwi. I had a nice weekend. My kids had a family wedding with my ex's family, so it was nice and peaceful once they had gone, pretty crazy leading up to it though. Sometimes I think 19 and 21 year olds are more trouble than toddlers. My mum took me to Spotlight which is my favourite place in the whole wide world hahah, I know I'm sad. I've been crocheting a quilt for the past two years (486 multi coloured squares) and it's nearly finished so I bought some fabric to back it with. I am also making my daughter an overnight bag out of fabric. I decided I'm making Christmas presents this year. God knows what I can make my 19 year old son though, any suggestions? Apart from a continuously sore underarm which I am really worried about (although I can't tell anyone except you guys) all is well. I have an appointment with my Oncologist on the 11th November so will ask about it then. My imagination is running away with me again and making me a bit down at the moment. Have a nice day everyone. Donna xxx

2 things i learnt today.
1.The scales in Oncology lie and weigh about 3kg heavier than those well trained ones I have at home.
2. MY SCANS ARE CLEAR!!!!
0 -
Wahoo, that's fantastic, I'm so happy for you The scales at Botany are wrong too, about 3 kilo's off I reckon, seriously. Yipee!

yay kiwi1966 for clear scans. I think the worst part about 3 weekly oncology clinic is the weigh scales. With the steroids I get I've put on over 6kg the last year. A few months ago I just stopped hopping on them. I write the same weight everytime even though I know it's a lie.

Fizzdon52 Cancer is a bugger for playing with your mind. Every little ache and pain we think is progression. I would mention it too your oncologist as its most likely nothing but at least they can put your mind at rest. Every little ache and pain I've had over the last year that I've been worried about has turned out to be simply old age related and nothing to do with cancer.

Man, am I tired. Just finished work (rained ) & having a rest before Sweet Louise Coffee meeting- first one for me- at 2.
Hooray for clear scans Kiwi! Hope the port placement is a breeze (or was if you've already had it done!)
Fizzdon, hope your onc can put your mind to rest about the sore armpit.
I hear you on the weight thing! I've put on all the weight I lost just b4 stage IV diagnosis & then some! I think its the low grade nausea I seem to have pretty much all the time- trying to make it go away by continuously snackin & the very much reduced exercise that I'm doing (or not doing I should say) Blah!
Have a good rest of the day all

Kiwi1966 I hope your port placement went well today and you are resting up.
KT how was the Sweet Louise coffee meeting. I've never been to one in Auckland as they are usually when I'm having chemo. One of the nice staff members often visits me at chemo and brings magazines. She also visited the couple of times I've been in hospital since I was diagnosed stage 4.
I was exhausted when I woke today and it's seemed like I was walking through treacle. I've had a lot of low grade nausea lately and today was particularly bad. Now I can't sleep. What is that all about? Chemo tomorrow @ 8:30 so I better get feeling bright and breezy
0 -
Shazza, hopefully you've woken up feeling better and that nausea has gone. I am going to take a leaf out of your book and start making up my own weight on those scales, or take my own in
Thanks for the kind thoughts about the port op. The port placement went well. I had it with local and the operation took an hour or so, and it was no more than slightly uncomfortable. I've woken up pretty sore today, mostly in my neck. The staff there kept telling me how lucky I was to be getting one (especially a swish power-port). I just like the fact that it's purple.
At my Oncology appointment yesterday I saw Dr Sheridan Wilson, apparently shes my Oncologist and I won't be seeing Rosalie Fisher now.
First chemo at 8.30am tomorrow.

kiwi glad the port placement went well. I've got one of the fancy purple ones as well. It's great.
Chemo for me today. A friends going with me who I haven't caught up with for a while, so that should be good. Then work till 7 tonight. Hope everyone has a great day.

So glad it's not just the scales in Hawkes Bay that have problems, obviously a nationwide thing!
Clear scans woohoo Kiwi! Good the port thing went well too.. Hope your chemo goes alright for you. Same for you Shazza, hope you perk up...are you going straight to work after?
Donna, I made presents for everybody last year. I made aprons for the whole family, different ones for everybody, cool fabrics and trims, put cooking related little presents in the pockets.

what a great picture Woody. You're one talented lady. There is only me and the kids in our little family now so that makes Xmas pretty easy.
Yep I'm off to work straight after chemo. Should make it for midday.

Oh Woody what a great photo and you are clever. I thought about Aprons for my mum and Step dad, my 19 year old only ever cooks baked beans and noodles, but an apron might be a good idea for him. Thanks for that Good luck with chemo to those of you who are going through it. Have a nice day, it's lovely in Auckland today

Hope chemo went well today Shazza & the nausea is gone. I don't know how you work such a long day afterwards!
The Sweet Louise coffe group was good, met 3 other ladies & Jana is lovely (the coordinator)
Thinking of you tomorrow for your chemo tomorrow Kiwi1966.Hope it goes well for you.
Neat aprons Woody
Have a good night all

Whoo hoo at clear scans! That's great news! And glad the port insert went well also.
The scales at Palmerston North hospital are the worst - at least 8 kilos off compared to my beautifully calibrated and well trained one at home.
Kruse - we'll have to sort out coffee one of these days. I have a bunch of upcoming meetings in Petone, so I'll send you a private message when I get my meeting scheduled!
Hugs to all,
Terre

Well that wasn't so bad.
Shazza, you were right, I love my port! I'm feeling a little bit wooly headed but otherwise fine. I've had so much to drink that my kidneys are working overtime :-)

Good for you KIwi, chemo might not be fun, but you can do it!

Well done, Kiwi
I'm glad it went well. Remember to keep up with the anti-nausea stuff (if you get it- I had different chemo than you first time round)
Had a quiet day today- I keep having to have nana naps in the afternoons!
Work tomorrow so just as well...

Ok, 13th December ladies - brunch in Akl, venue to be disclosed hehe, if you let me know if you can come and we could do a secret santa if there's a few of us.

Got it KT, and taking it exactly as they told me. I am a bit woozy, but I did get up before 5am and work, and worked again when I got home this afternoon, so probably tired as well.
Ang I can I the 13th December, looking forward to it :-)

Sounds good Terre. Look forward to hearing from you when you know your schedule.
Yay Nikki - one down now and glad you are feeling ok so far. Don't overdo the working etc - rest is important. You may have that woolly head feeling for a couple days but drinking fluids definitely good.
Shazza hope your chemo has gone ok too. You are amazing at how well you are doing!
Not the best day here for fireworks tonight but is improving now from earlier - was raining, but now just grey.
My daughter is home on study leave now so I let her do some more driving practice today for a break as she's booked her restricted in for next Wednesday at 3pm. I don't think she realised she'd have to be driving around in all the after school traffic - so now wants to go out at 3pm every day until the test lol
First exam for her NCEA level 2 is next Tuesday afternoon.
Hope everyone else is doing ok. Xx

Hi Ladies: - Still feeling ok 2 days down. I have a little bit of nausea, but I am doing what I am told with the medication (and wearing my seabands, which I swear are working). I am waiting for the fatigue to hit, which I am sure it will.
Happy Friday everyone :-)

Pleased all went well K66. I was fine the first round other than being very tired. Went to a wedding on the Saturday after having chemo on Thursday.
Do hope every one has a good Friday.

Well done Kiwi. I hope it continues to be so doable
Hi Alyson, how's it going?
My feet are starting to bother me. They have deep cracks & are quite red from the xeloda. Moisturising all the time!! Quite tired too. Will keep plodding on. At least I don't have nausea- I really hate that.
Nearly the weekend! Have a good Friday all
