Hi Guys, looks like it's been pretty quiet around here. I hope that's because you have all been out enjoying the glorious weather.

I haven't been able to get my nausea under control and after 3 weeks of it progressively getting worse I'm feeling a bit over things. At chemo on Tuesday they thought maybe my body had reached its tolerence for Taxol. I hope not. I have clinic today where we will discuss moving forward.

Kiwi1966 I hope you continued to feel not too bad after your chemo and were able to enjoy the weekend.

Kruise my daughter has level 2 Chemistry first too. She is desperate for an excellence and is studying really hard.

Have a great day everyone Smile

Hi guys, hope you are all ok, sorry you not feeling very good Shazzakelly. I was going to come on here a mention how sick I have been feeling all weekend, but don't think I should now after listening to you. I had another pretty boring weekend, didn't see another human being all weekend. Did some sewing, gardening and cooking. My daughter is home tonight though. I guess having such a boring life is good in a way because I actually look forward to work on Monday :) Meeting with my Oncologist tomorrow, wondering if it will be one I have seen before or another stranger. Take care everyone.

Hi Guys. What a lovely weekend. Spent yesterday at the War Memorial for a Cadet parade, from 8.30 to 12.30 then to the Wintergarden for lunch. A beautiful Auckland day.

I am feeling pretty good, although definitely not as good as I was. Just tired, wooly headed and feel like I am drying from the inside out. A weird feeling. I finished taking the steriods yesterday so hopefully I can get my eating under control or else I will be an elephant in a matter of days, and I will have to fib the scales.

Sorry to hear that you're still not feeling well Shazza, I will be thinking of you today.

    Hiya :)

    It has been quiet.

I had a reasonable weekend. Got the alpacas shorn on Saturday.

Went for a walk on Sunday- too far even tho it was shorter than what I used to do. I was wiped afterwards & was hobbling on my red blistered feet. Xeloda is making my feet and hands very red creased & sore :( Could be worse I guess.

I'm glad I don't have nausea now - and I feel for you Shazza- no fun...

I hope your onc appt goes well tomorrow Fizzdon. I have one on Wednesday. I'm waiting for my blood tests now - I forgot to have them last week! Most of them should be ready for the appt, but a couple may not be! Oops.

Shazza & Kruise my son has chemistry on Tuesday too! Not his fav subject, he likes maths & technology better. I hope all our kids go well :)

Enjoy the lovely day, I think we're in for some more rain soon

That's funny Shazza and kt that all our kids are sitting chemistry tomorrow! Yes let's hope it goes well for them all. I think Gabrielle only has one more exam after that this week and then the rest are next week. We've been driving, driving, driving in between her study! I'm honestly fed up of sitting in the car lol. Praying she passes the restricted on Wednesday so I can get out of the vehicle hehe! And then of course I'll be worrying about her driving alone...can't win!

Shazza that sounds awful that you can't get the nausea under control. I certainly reckon your body must be struggling with it a bit now. Maybe you just need some time off it. Let us know what they say after your clinic appointment.

And Kt your poor feet! Have you tried soaking them in Epsom salts at all? Then rubbing them with that Skin repair product - I think it's by Weleda but I'll try and double check that. You can buy at chemist. That stuff was a godsend after my radiation. Worth a go any rate.

Hope your appt goes well Fizz. When's your next chemo Nikki? Do you get a couple weeks in between?

Gorgeous day here in Welly today.

    Take care everyone xx

Thanks, Kruise. I'll try the Epsom salts & look out for a weleda cream in the pharmacy.

I know what you mean about wanting the kids to be independent but then worrying about them when you're not with them!

    Have a good night

KT i hope you can get your hands and feet sorted. I believe that's one part of Xeloda that everyone seems to have trouble with.

I had my clinic appointment today. The were running over an hour late and as they have to be out of there by one for the next clinic I was seen by someone who I think wasn't expecting to see me. They couldn't find my chemo chart and it was all a bit awkward. I was also by that time running so late for work.

The upshot is that I'm going to man up and box on with the chemo for a while longer and up the anti nausea meds if needed. Hopefully I will see someone more familiar with me next clinic.

Caitlin has Chemistry tomorrow then English Thursday. I think Biology and maths next week and japanese the week after. She too is just about ready for her Restricted. Just needs to get parking sorted.

How was your Oncologist appointment Donna?

  • fizzdon52
    fizzdon52 Member Posts: 382

It was really good thanks, I had a lovely lady who I haven't had before but I liked her better than the other 3??? wish I could have her all the time. I have to have a Mammogram and MRI and I am already so nervous I am freaking out. She said there is nothing to worry about but it will be a year in January/February and now is the time to organise these things. She felt under my arm, which wasn't as sore as it usually is, typical. I also have to have a grastrophy thing down my throat. She suggested I get some counselling from the Cancer Society because of my anxiety haha! I already know I am a nervous wreck, always have been and always will be. My doctor recently put me on heart pills, cholesterol pills, pills to stop my stomach from hurting, antidepressants which I am just about weaned off now and there are others that I can't even remember. The Oncologist thinks my tiredness may be linked to some of these pills so I am going to stop taking them one by one and see if I feel better. I'm just so tired, it's a real struggle to stay at work all day and I don't want to get addicted to V. Put it this way, I sailed through Radiotherapy and working over 45 hours a week and didn't feel half as tired as I do now. Anyway I always feel really bad moaning when you guys are all going through so much worse than I am. How is your Chemo going Kiwi, are you doing okay?

Yes it's an Annah S - thought I will hopefully get to use it again ;)

I was feeling pretty dreadful earlier today and had to have a sleep for a few hours. I had been quite good up till then. My mouth is giving me hell, but then they warned me that it would because of my braces. I am still working but just trying to take it a little bit easier. Like all of you, having kids going through their exams at the moment is stressful in itself. Glad your appointment went well Donna, and you liked the Oncologist. They are getting very young looking aren't they?

Congratulations Angstapp - beautiful day, beautiful bride and groom and fantastic dress!

Sorry to hear about mouth problems, tiredness, and other bad crap going on. Never any shame in whining a bit. I'm Stage IV, which messes with my mind a lot, but no chemo, only Femara and a bunch of stuff to counteract the lovely side effects. But nothing compared to chemo and the stuff that a lot of you are going through. I sure relate to the fatigue though.

    Hugs to all,

    Terre

Beautiful, Ange- what fun getting married! And a good excuse to buy a new dress.

Great your onc was good Fizzdon- makes a difference if you have confidence in them :)

Shazza, bummer your appt was less than ideal, hope it goes better next time.

Kiwi- hard to go thru chemo, hope you get a good mouthwash to help.

Terre, fatigue is a nuisance isn't it- I can surely relate to that...

I did about 2 1/2 hours painting the house today & I'm stuffed....my feet are very pins and needly & I haven't bought any epsom salts yet- totally forgot when I did the groceries...

Onc appt tomorrow- used to go on Mondays, so not sure who I'll get.

    Can't wait for bed tonight!

Have a good one all :)

Congratulations Ange! You both look so happy & beautiful!!

Donna if you want the contact details of a really good hypno therapist, just let me know. He has worked a lot with woman with cancer and with the Sweet Louise foundation. He can work via Skype (though I was lucky because he lived just up the road - has since moved to c'church). It really helped me heaps and Irwckon it helped my body cope with the chemo a lot better as well.

KT Naera has gone on maternity leave and the new Registrar working with Rueben is well New so I don't think you are missing much changing to Wednsday

Complete disaster at chemo today. I arrived at 8:30 as per my appointment card to discover I was actually booked in for 2 pm which doesn't actually work when I start work at 12. They agreed to see me early but it takes a good 2 hours to make the chemo so I didnt get started till 11:30 and it was after 2pm before I got in to work. DevilThey have increased my steroid dose up again so hopefully that will help get on top of the nause

KT & Kriuse how did chemistry go. Caitlin was fairly happy with 1 paper so so about the other

D**n, Shazza! You don't need that sort of stuff up especially after Monday's.

It's a shame we don't get to see people consistently either. Continuity is good I think (if you have good people looking after you).

My son seemed happy enough with the exam, but we shall see when the results come out :) he's a bit of a cruiser.

I hope tomorrow goes better for you after the last 2 days!

    Night all :)

Wow lots to read since I last logged on...lol. Congrats Ang!! Good for you guys - sounds like he's a keeper after 14 years and any man that stands by his girl during tough times like bc is hubby material I reckon. Love your dress too.

Shazza and Kt - Gabrielle though her chemistry exam went well - she said she answered all the questions - but yes we will see. Driving test tomorrow which she is most concerned about....then English on Thursday :-)

I just heard some real sad news today...my partners boss's wife has just been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and it has spread to bones and her prognosis not good - they are talking weeks not months. She is about 44, and they have 3 children - a girl who's 4, and an 8 and 13 yo boys. So basically my partner is now having to run the company as his boss is understandably shell shocked and spending time at home. My heart goes out to them. Just when we think we have it bad, there is ALWAYS someone dealing with something worse. Cancer - any Cancer - sucks!!!!!

What is it with bl***y cancer these days! My sister has a good friend who has also been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. It spread before she was diagnosed so no hope of cure. She has a 3 year old :(

Way too much of it around- & too much hitting younger people & kids!

I'm having breakfast in bed before my trip to ak for onc appt. I'll take my mum down too & we'll catch up with my sis :) so a long day ahead.

    Enjoy your day too!

Good luck with the Onc visit KT. Hope the parking is easy and the clinic is running on time.

My favourite aunt who has been my 2nd mother since my own died of breast cancer a few years ago has just been diagnosed with advanced renal Cancer. They are talking about hoping to keep her going to Xmas. She is meant to be going to Scotland in May to see her grandson get married. I do hope she makes it. Sad

Sorry to hear of friends with cancer diagnoses. Always hard. I lost two friends to cancer over the weekend. And a friend's 4 year old had open heart surgery yesterday. The good news is that the little dude is doing well; came through with flying colours.

Let's hope for good news for us too!

    Hugs to all,

:( Sorry for your losses Terre. I'm glad the wee boy is doing well tho.

Shazza, I hope your aunt has a good run & makes it to the wedding too.

My appt was ok today- they were at least running pretty much on time & I didn't have to wait too long for my prescription afterwards :)

My tumour markers have gone up tho, so they'll see what they are next time & if they're still going up I'll be having a scan to see what's happening...

Horrible weather today alright! Hope it goes before tomorrow, I don't fancy doing my mail run in this.

    Catch you later

KT I hope the tumour markers are just a blip.

Another horrible day. I've got the day off as I'm working Saturday. I'm booked in for a facial later on. Can't wait. Caitlin went off to her english exam this morning. It's her least favourite subject so I'll be glad when it's over.

We have our first foster kitten of the season. A 4 week old boy who is just a treasure
