Hi all. I hope you're having a good week.

Kiwi1966, I'm glad you're coping ok. I hope that port infection has cleared up & chemo goes well tomorrow. Glad the mouth ulcers have gone- hope you don't get any more. Thinking of you.

Here's to summer soon :) I went for a walk on the beach Sunday evening, it was lovely. But I was shocked at how tired & breathless I was- I did the Tongariro crossing in May. No way could I do it now. And my feet were so sore, only walked for just over 1/2 an hour!

I did spend most of Sunday beforehand in bed I was so tired :( I hope it's just the chemo not progression.

Shazza- I hope that nausea is sorted by now! Wishing you nausea free :)

Wish me luck today- I'm going shopping for that dress- which won't be easy as I'm boobless! Might have to relent & buy a couple of small matching foobs & a bra. I've enjoyed not having to wear a bra so the idea doesn't appeal....

Hope you all have a good day

KT good luck dress shopping. Smile

I had taxol number 60 this morning. I still have constant nausea so they have changed my regime again. I've started getting neuropathy too. I spoke to the Ocology Nurse Specialist who feels that my oncologist will stop my chemo at my next appointment on Monday, at least until things settle down. I'm due scans later in December and if things are all still stable I'm happy to start up again in the New Year.

I cant wait for a break. My body is just so over chemo. Mentally and physically

A break sounds good, Shazza. Might be just what you need, especially over Christmas. Hope the scans etc go well.

Well I found a dress after trying about 20 from various shops. Ended up getting one from farmers. But I will need to get some foobs as suspected. Then there's the shoe problem- my feet aren't terribly attractive at the mo as they are red & peeling.... Might take a while to find & they need to be comfortable!

Minor problems really! It was a fun but tiring morning out with my dd.

LoopyOh to be young and fit with no flab or cellulite. It was a bit like togs shopping (quite depressing really) but got there in the end.

Glad you managed to find a dress KT. I was dress shopping last week and ended up getting one from Farmers as well - it is a maxi dress and hides lots. It is a mission. I have a couple of Christmas parties to go to - and now I have to co-ordinate with my scarves. I have lost all my hair and my wig feels like an upside down broom!

Shazza - hopefully having a break and recharging does the trick. I can only imagine how challenging this must be. Best wishes for the scans.

Off for my 2nd infusion this morning - coping with the rush hour traffic. Had my second hospital stay in two weeks this weekend. I had an abscess which suddenly appeared. They wanted to operate on it under general, but I talked them into a local so I could get home quickly, Middlemore is not the place to hang around if you want to get well! I am getting quite brave. I am back on Rosalie's list, and she is happy to go ahead with the FEC this morning. She talked about reducing the dose or giving me Neulasta, as I have had a lot of trouble with my mouth and skin. We agreed that we'd see how I went this time. I know that some people have trouble with the Neulasta causing bone pain, and I don't want to go there if I don't have too. I already have arthritis which slows me down.

My Mum had a fall on Monday night, and broke her nose, teeth and cut herself quite badly. She's in Wellington, so going down to see her is out of the question. Lucky I have 2 sisters down there who will take care of her.

Have a happy Wednesday everyone :-)

Upside down broom! I love that :D

I hated wearing a wig, so stuck to scarves & hats.

Sounds like you've had a rough ride with the ulcers, port infection & now an abscess! I hope this round goes a lot better with fewer se's.

Wishing your mum a quick recovery too! Ouch.

    Have a good day too!

Geeze Kiwi1966, you've had a crap week! Hope your mother recovers soon and hope your infusion goes well.

I'm off to Palmy to the oncologist this afternoon. Just a routine random checkup, I think.

Hope the week gets better for you Kiwi!

    Hugs to all,

    Terre

Hi guys, I'm in a bit of a flap I got a letter in the mail last night when I got home from work, it's from Middlemore Hospital and it's an appointment for a Portacath Insertion next Wednesday. I'm totally confused, I knew nothing about this and now I am freaking out about what it could mean. I think they must have made a mistake. Last I heard from the Mammogram people was that everything looked good. I'm having an MRI on Thursday but surely it wouldn't have anything to do with that would it? I'm going to try and get hold of the Oncology Nurse this morning, had no sleep last night worrying about it? Sorry to hear about your Mum Kiwi. Hope everyone else is doing okay.

Sounds like a screw up to me, Fizz. I had a similar thing happen in the US; got a call from the hospital out of the blue announcing that I had to have a port put in, but I wasn't having chemo and was told all was well. It was an error. Keep us posted!

Fizz, that definitely sounds like a mistake! Even still it causes stress!

I hope you get a break for Christmas Shazza.

Sorry to hear about your mum's fall Kiwi1966. Good on you for being your own advocate and getting home! Hope today's chemo goes well (as well as can be :))

Good luck at your check up Kiwicatmom

KT - glad you got a dress! Oh to be young again !!!

It's funny meeting all your Kiwi ladies in this group. When I joined BCO nearly 4 years ago I was quite active and there were no other kiwis I came across. In my groups I was called "kiwi" by everyone. Now here we all are and half of us have names starting with Kiwi.

Yes it was a mistake, the nurse doesn't know how it happened, she said the doctor probably put a sticker on the wrong bit of paperwork at the end of the day. Lucky it wasn't a leg amputation operation or something!!! The Oncologist Doctor I had at my last appointment was lovely, the nicest one I have had yet so I'm not going to worry too much about it, everyone makes mistakes I guess. It just seems to be my luck, if there is going to be a stuff up it will happen to me haha! Must say I'm feeling a bit relieved. Hope everyone is okay.

Glad it was an error and nothing medically wrong with you! What crap to go through the stress though. Glad all is well.

    Hi all.

I've finished work for the day! Yay.

We're off to the South Island tomorrow first thing, for 9 days :) Can't wait.

DD is staying home to look after the beasties but DS is coming with us. Should be lovely- I haven't been to the lower end yet :) (Dunedin to Invercargill & around)

I hope everyone is having a good day & any tests, chemo etc are going ok.

I will def check in on my travels :)

Anyone going to the catch up with the Aussie girls pass on my regards! Have heaps of fun :D

Hi all about to head off into town for our get together. If anyone wants to join us tomorrow just send me a pm and I will give you details and phone numbers. Wish the weather was better but it won't matter.

    Hugs to all

Hi girls, from Invercargill. It's cold down here! 4deg when I dropped DH off at Wyndham for the street racing. I'll head over there again around lunchtime to watch him racing the sidecar- hopefully warmer by then!

We're getting lots of wind and heavy showers/hail so I hope it passes thru real soon! We had drier weather for watching albatross in Dunedin & walking out to nugget point lighthouse in the catlins.

I hope you're all going well & that some of you have made it to the Aussie/kiwi gettogether.

    Bye for now :)

Hope the get together was good! Wish I could have been there, but planning on being there for the next one. :)

KT - I'll stop complaining (as much) about Wellington / Kapiti Coast weather. I am truly over the wind though. It hailed her on Friday, just in time for the Christmas in the street party. Hail predicted for Welly tomorrow just in time for me to go back to work. Oh well!

Hiya. We're in Te Anau now. I'm feeling quite frustrated with myself as my feet are very sore- d**n chemo! I want to do more walking because there are lots of nice walks to do....

Still, it's nice to be away doing something different. Can't remember the last time we had more than a weekend away!

Hope you are all good :)

Glad to hear you are having a good time KT a pity about the feet though. damn those chemo SEs.

I had clinic today and was able to convince them that I'm miserable enough to get a break. At the moment it's just 3 weeks while we wait for my scans but I'm hoping to push it out until after the New Years. When I start up again we are going to look at either reducing the dose or trialling 2 weeks on 1 week off.

I can't wait for this nausea to go,away. After 6 weeks of constant diahreah and nausea I'm truely over it.

Shazza - hope you get a break and feel better soon!

KT - sorry to hear about your feet. I'd like to walk more too, but the side effects and wonky leg keep my walking jaunts very short.

Hello from Wanaka. We have a lovely view from our unit looking over the lake :) Yesterday we had a fantastic day for a trip into Milford Sound. It's so spectacular- mind blowing. If you haven't been I recommend you go! Saw penguins, seals, fish & kea as well as the amazing scenery.

I hope you're getting over the nausea by now Shazza.

How're you feeling kiwi1966? I hope the chemos not too hard on you.

I hear you went to the get together too midnight, hope you had fun.

Alyson you must be sad to see Chrissy go.

    Hope everyone else is well

Shazza I can't imagine feeling like this for as long as you have. Hugs, I hope you feel better after a break.

Alyson, glad you enjoyed your week.

KT, sounds like a great holiday. I am from Invercargill (via Wellington to Auckland), and just love the South Island - there's nowhere like it.

Fizz - so glad the portacath was a mistake :-(

My last chemo was last Wednesday, and so far so good. I feel muddled in my brain and have mild nausea, but other than that I am feeling ok. Just waiting for the sore mouth to hit. I was in hospital twice between the first and second infusion (needed surgery for an abcess a couple of weekends ago, also got a port infection), so hoping that I do better this time. Rosalie wanted to give me a Neulasta injection, but I wanted to try to look after myself better before putting more drugs into my system (says she who popped 4 pills this morning), so we did a deal. I so like her, she seems to be happy to work with me, and admitted that that I know my body better than she does.

Hi guys, I think my nausea is slowly improving. Still there but I need fewer meds. It seemed strange not going to the hospital after so many weeks. I hope they extend my break past 3 weeks so I don't have to do chemo over Christmas and New Years.

I'm feeling pretty low as my favourite Aunt just passed away from Cancer (not Breast) it was very agressive she only lived 6 weeks past diagnosis and also she was in so much pain. She has been like a 2nd mother to me,especially after my own passed away from Breast Cancer 9 years ago. The funeral is not till next Friday as a number of family members need to come from overseas.

It sounds like you are having a great time KT. You're definately in a beautiful part of the country.

Shazza, I'm so sorry about your aunt. That is so hard for you.

I'm glad your nausea is going though. I hope things continue to improve. Thinking of you,

Hope everyone is doing okay. Sorry about your Aunty Shazza. Life just isn't fair is it? I have an MRI in Auckland hospital today, feeling a bit nervous and hoping this is my last test/procedure for the year. Wow what a year it has been. Hope the build up to Christmas goes smoothly for everyone. I work in the freight industry and it's crazy busy, I've had a constant headache for a week now with everyone wanting to know where their stuff is. Bring on a few days off at Christmas. Donna xxx

Hi Fizzdon, hope your MRI goes well. Just be prepared for lots of noise- banging especially! It's a funny one, truly!

    Hoping for good results too!

We are off to Fairley today, slowly getting closer to Timaru for the next bout of racing :)

    Have a good day all
