    Good luck from me too.

Sorry about your Aunt Shazza.  I hope that nausea is continuing to subside and you get a decent break over Christmas/New Year.

It seems like this year has sped by and it's nearly Christmas.  Now that we're so close it feels like it's moving at snail pace! I can't wait to finish up for Christmas and enjoy the break with my family.  Fingers crossed for good weather!

    Hope the MRI went well!

Shazz - glad the nausea has lessened; hope it continues to improve. So sorry about your aunt. Please accept my condolences.

KiwiMum - I'm with you. I want summer, I want holiday vacation and time off work, and I want warm weather and less wind.

Hope everyone has a good rest of the week and weekend!

Hi guys, how is everyone feeling? It's Friday so that's gotta be good and the southern motorway traffic was great this morning, only took me 1/2 an hour instead of 1 hour or more. Well I had my MRI at Auckland Hospital yesterday, can't say it was much fun. I had an MRI in January when first diagnosed and I had it at Ascot Hospital in Greenlane. Compared to yesterday it was really fancy, so there is a noticeable difference between private and public. The MRI yesterday I'm sure the machine was broken haha, it was incredibly loud and so bumpy it made my boobs move, I thought they were supposed to be really still. I had a noticeable indentation around my whole face for the rest of the day and got some funny looks. However I'm not really moaning as I am so very grateful we don't have to pay in NZ unlike some of our sisters in the USA. I don't know the results yet and am not sure when I will get them. Hopefully everything will be fine as the Mammogram indicated and the pain under my arm is just the after effects of Radiotherapy. Anyway, I better get back to work, I'm so busy I've had a headache for 3 days now and can't wait until the weekend which isnt' far away woohoo! Hope you all have a lovely day and are feeling good xxx Donna

Just reading back on older posts and Kiwi just want to say it sucks to lose another pink sister, I too am in a facebook group for young woman diagnosed with BC and we've lost 3 wonderful woman this year, I find it too hard to be part of that group at the moment as it just hurts so very much to lose friends.

    Hope everyone is doing ok

KiwiCatMom that's funny because it's true. Although it was hot and muggy here in Auckland last night which is a sign it could be on its way.

It actually felt like a nice spring day yesterday afternoon. Bucketed down rain most of the day, but around 4 pm it cleared up and got nice, with a hint of spring in the air. We moved into a new (rental) house in August and I knew it was filthy (despite assurances from the property manager that it had been cleaned), but I've concentrated on getting the kitchen, bathrooms, etc. cleaned first. At any rate, I finally cleaned the windows yesterday. I knew they were dirty, but the difference is stunning! Makes me a bit queasy to know we were living with such nasty windows (ewww). But wow...it's like a different house.

Two summers ago, it was a cracker of a summer here and I spent most of it in the hospital getting my leg pinned and then on crutches. Last summer kind of failed to launch. Sure hope we have something of a decent summer this year!

It's been so hot and muggy I can't sleep at the moment and I hate being tired for work. Hope everyone had a nice weekend and you are feeling a bit better Shazza?

yep I'm feeling quite a bit better. Not nearly as much nausea. I'm not looking forward to going back on chemo in the New Year.

I'm glad you're feeling better too, Shazza.

Kiwicatmom, I like the pic :) We are back from the South Island today & it's amazing how much warmer it is up here! We had a couple of hot days but mostly it was around 13 deg or less (1.5 going into Milford Sound)

It's nice to be home & to see dd, but she's not a tidy kiwi so I'll have some work to get the house ship shape again. It was great to have her stay home & look after the beasties tho :)

Well, back to work tomorrow, then I have an onc appt on Wednesday.

Angstapp - sending you hugs! I can relate.

Kiwicatmum - that's great! It did feel summery in Auckland this weekend. Lovely! Here's a pic I took in the weekend. I love Pohutukawa trees in full bloom. Photo taken on Onetangi Beach, Waiheke Island.

Shazza - glad nausea is receding for you.

Welcome back home KT. I hope you enjoyed your trip. Good luck at your Onc appointment.

Beautiful pictures, KiwiMum. I love Waiheke Island.

I shouldn't complain - we had such a mild winter. And I live about an hour north of Wellington on the Kapiti Coast, and the weather here is much better than in the city. But I'm a sunshine junkie and it's just been a bit gloomy lately. The fog has been beautiful, but...I miss the sunshine! I guess that's the price one pays for living in the most beautiful place on earth - and it's a small price. :)

Hope everyone is having a good week!

    Hugs to all,

    Nice pics Kiwimum.

I know what you mean about sun, Terre. Things seem so much better when the suns out :)

I'm sitting at Ak hosp having my pamidronate infusion, 1 hour 15 to go. The carparks were full today, but luckily I found one right outside the oncology building. Phew, cos I didn't have any time to spare.

My dose has been reduced becos of my se's. But I also have to have a CT scan b4 my next appt becos my tumour markers are still going up. I'm hoping I can stay on x becos the se's are quite tolerable...

Such is life. Hope everyone's having a good day :)

    Wow, it's quiet here!

I'm still in bed. We have no power & it's quite stormy. With no power we also have no water since the pump isn't going. Fun collecting rain water with pots so we can have a cuppa.

Yesterday we went to waiheke on my sisters boat with most of my side of the family. We had a blast. I had a go at stand-up paddle boarding - lots of fun was had :)

If anyone is interested I have a c cup 'energy light 3u' prosthesis I don't need anymore (& a couple of other c cup prostheses). The energy light has the bumps on the back for climate control & silver for antibacterial. I'm going to give them away.

I went & got 2 new 'a' cup prostheses & 2 bras on Thursday to wear with my new dress to the work do.

So if anyone would like them just PM me & I'll post them off. (The energy light one is $700 here, but I ordered from o'seas for half the price)

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Not long till Christmas now!

I've just got back from Hawkes Bay and my Aunts funeral. It was both a Happy and sad occasion. I'm exhausted.

I'm sure you'll get some takers for your prosthesis KT. Man they are expensive. I would love them but I'm an A cup too. In winter I use one a friend knitted and stuffed for me as a spare. It's very cute but a bit hot and scratchy for summer. I have just got one of the swimming ones full of beads that cost about $50. It's a size 0 !!!

Horrible weather here in Auckland so I'm having a lazy day ignoring the fact that I have done no Xmas shopping Shocked

Sounds like a good plan to have a lazy day. I'm doing the same asthe last few days have been busy. I'm glad your aunts funeral etc went well. Not fun but part of life.

Scary that Christmas is so close- I've still got lots of shopping to do too.

I hope someone can get some use out of my old prostheses. I've decided since I can choose my size to go small - & I'll probably only wear them for special occasions :)

Has the nausea totally gone yet Shazza? I hope so...

Hi ladies, I hope you are doing well. It sounds like you might be feeling a bit better Shazza, I hope so. Wow the weather is crappy here in Ararimu, it's actually a bit frightening and I'm eyeing a big Rimu tree next to my little cottage as it's sister blew over a few years ago and took the corner of my cottage out. I haven't done any shopping yet either. I'm staying home today making a top for my Mum for Christmas. I have made an overnight bag for my daughter and will have to buy something for my son as what do you make a 19 year old boy? While I'm sewing I'm listening to Pod Casts from the Breast Cancer Symposium they are having in San Antonio, really interesting stuff. Even though a lot of it is above my head!. I'm wondering how long it is before my power goes out? Take care everyone. PS I haven't heard from anyone about my MRI week before last, so hope that's a good sign :)

Hi ladies. I've been reading but haven't had much to post about. Going for my 3rd Treatment on Wednesday. I have been feeling good and managed to stay out if hospital this time, but really tired, no nausea to speak of though. Sounds like you had a good time down South KT. I'd love a holiday but right now, but it will have to wait.

KT I would love your prosthesis if you are sure you don't need them. I have a D but have lost a lot of weight since my fitting and as such my remaining boobie is more like a c cup bibet. I am "unbalanced" and it bothering me. Silly when I have bigger stuff to worry about.

I am completely bald now and swing between being ok about it and very self conscious, I still have some adjusting to do.

Can you believe I'm still in bed! I have a good book....

I am going to get up now tho.

Kiwi, if you PM me your address I'll post them to you :)

I am enjoying being flat since I've had the remaining boob prophylacticly removed so I have no need of them. I just got a matching set of A cups for when I have to dress up as I can choose how big (not!) I want to be ;)

    Glad you're feeling ok

Awful weather at the moment, Fizzdon. I hope your tree doesn't fall down!

    Cheers

    hi ladies

Weather was nice here today so that makes a change.

Morning all. Just about to get ready for work after a Pilates class with my daughter. The weather is just diabolical.

I'm starting to feel better although I'm still nauseous it's not nearly as bad. Clinic on Monday so we will see what the plan is going to be. Hopefully a few more weeks off.

Got a little bit of Xmas shopping done yesterday so starting to feel a bit better about that side of things.

Hope everyone has a good day despite the weather.

Thanks for the hooters KT. They came last night and I am one balanced individual now xoxo.

Chemo 3 went well but my portacath failed. Bugger! Now have to have a dye test before the next chemo and maybe replace the port.

Glad you are feeling a little bit better Shazza.

Weather needs to improve for the holidays Aucklanders.

Yay Kiwi- that was real fast, I only posted them yesterday!

Glad chemo went ok, bugger about the port though...

Sun's out here now :) about time.

I have a CT scan on Christmas eve- will have to wait till January for results I imagine.

    Have a good evening :)

For once...one time only probably...the weather was better in Wellington than in Auckland! For two whole days!! Rained today, however, and one of my coworkers said, 'well, we've had our 2 days of Wellington summer. Hope you enjoyed it!"

Seriously, sorry you're having crap weather. I'm ready for summer!

Glad you're feeling better Shazza. Bugger @ port fail Kiwi. But congrats at halfway!

    Hugs to all,

Yes Terre the weather down here was hot and sunny . My daughter had friends round and they were sunbathing and swimming and enjoying themselves. Even though the rain turned up today - at least it wasn't windy and it's stopped again now. Hope you all up North have kept safe & dry - I heard there were some power outs and very windy!

Kt - hope your scan on Xmas Eve goes well - not a great thing to have to do then when Santa is on his merry way ;-) but hoping Santa has some good results eh!

And so sorry Nikki to hear about your port stuffing up. You haven't had an easy time at all. I hope you get some relaxing time over the holiday break.

Shazzakelly- happy for you that you are feeling a little better and managed to get some shopping done. I have started too! Yes hope you get your wish for a bigger break too.

I'm reading a book called 'the Luxury of time' by Mike and Jane Tomlinson. Has anyone heard of Jane? - she was a UK bc patient who ended up doing marathons and rode across the States. She was diagnosed at 26 and at about 36 was told she only had 6 months to live but she kept fighting and lived till 43 achieving all these events and fundraising. Amazing lady. Apparently the book I'm reading was the first of three so I'm keen to read the other two now.

If anyone else can recommend any other good books to read over the break - about bc or not - let me know. :
