    Welcome Bippy.

Good morning Jazzy.  I will need an extra cup of coffee this morning before I get going.  For some reason, I was awake in the middle of the night for awhile.  I put the time to use reading which was fun,  but now I need two cups of coffee to get into the swing of this sunny, happy morning.  Normally your coffee picture would be me.

Good Morning again---I did go back to sleep and now I'm floopy again, Chit

Welcome Bippy  Oh another kitty lover, the one in u'r Avatar looks like mine--who really loves me home actually. U sound very determined and that's a great attitude. I hope u enjoy it here this is a great group, we share, laugh and vent and we're all good with it.

Sally I've had so much coffee  and yet I could sleep again right now.--Didn't we have a full moon this week?

Oh Joey is having his 10 yr old GF over tomorrow and asked me if I would mind doing my hair and putting streaks in it and kind of get dressed up. WTF I'm going to meet another 10 yr. old and I have to look like I'm going out. Brat. Well for him I'll wear one of my nicer lounge dresses. Again Brat. LOL

Cami, you are right ... it's been a full moon ... actually, an extra special full moon ... doesn't that add perspective?  Joey's friend will really think you are cool with those streaks.  Let us know what color you choose or maybe do a rainbow.

Good morning, Hermies! Welcome, maidentired, Hermies, she is one of my July chemo gals. When she said she'd become a hermit I invited her over. Bippy, welcome to you too. Have you checked in on the August chemo thread? It's monitored by ladyb1234, who actually started out with us July ladies before she had a start date.

I am still shaky from the steroids, and this morning is the closest I've gotten to feeling like I could lose the contents of the tummy, were there any there. Took a zofran and it's easing up but I'm laid back in the recliner just staying still and drinking Earl Grey. Listening to Chopin, again. Cousin is at some kind of conference at church, so I had to feed the pups, that may have contributed to the nausea. the shaking is awful, I had to sleep lying on my hands! Took an amytriptaline last night so I did sleep.

Who's into throwback Thursday? I'll start. Me at 34.

Mags- beautiful then and beautiful now. I am glad you are at least sleeping better. Glad you invited a friend over here to join us.

Cami- I would love a photo of your hair, even from the back if you want to keep your pretty face private as many of us do here. I love that Joey has a girlfriend. I remember the first boy I ever kissed around age 11-12. I hope you all have fun.

Sally is right. One of three super moons in a row. Another one in Sept too. Supposed to be good time for banishing the old and setting intentions for the new. Give it a try. I am seeing it move some things forward in my life this week that have been stuck (work opps).

Results on the skin biopsy in. One under the breast is fine, the one on the scalp that I was most concerned about as it has been there too long is in fact basal cell carcinoma. Going in to the derm center next Tuesday to have it removed.

so you were in tune with your body Jazzy.......what does it mean though as i know nothing about skin cancer

  • jazzygirl
    jazzygirl Member Posts: 11,976

Lily- from all I know, basal cell is very common. It is not for the most part a big problem, although there are some more aggressive kinds. In most cases, they remove it surgically and that is that. But like everything else, you have to watch that it does not return. I will say I am bummed by this news. Feeling like the "cancer girl" but will get through this.

And you are right, I am in tune with my body. My PCP looked at it in the past, and thought it was a keratosis, but decided to have the derm look at it. I like my PCP, but she has missed things in the past so I don't have a problem taking something further if I feel I need a specialist. She knew I was going to see the derm when I saw her in early July, I told her the spot on my scalp was still worrisome to me. I have learned to pay attention and go see the doctor if I am worried. No waiting around on stuff anymore.

I have a friend who is a retired doc and a dermatologist. I am going to ask her some things about this to get some perspective. My sister has had it twice on her face and had it removed. We are fair skinned and a family that was always at the beach. I am not surprised this came back positive, but it is one more thing to deal with. I know you know what I mean too.

Oh Jazzy I'm sorry another bump in the road, I forgot I had that before BC and I think I got it burned off or something with some surgical instrument and was awake, but I didn't think anything of it at the time.--I'm very faired skin too, but not a sun person--so maybe it does have to do with how u'r skin is.

Mags u were beautiful then as u r now--quite  looker.

Jazzy all of u ladies are just so pretty and I'm just so oomph that's the only reason I don't put pics up of me, well plus I don't know how--every so often myDD's manage to put one up on FB and I'm like why did u do that? And they laugh. I'm surrounded by brats, but I like the idea of rainbow hair, sounds fun maybe I will. Actually now that my hair is longer Joey wants me to dye it blonde.

Mags Im glad u asked bippy to come over and I hope u feel btter and without those shakes.

More moon calls today this should stop soon.

i love that photo...i promise to try and find a good one to post. Thanks for all the welcomes ladies!  Good news for me, instead of ssdi i am going to get unemployment!  I am thrilled to not have to work at all during tx. high stress, toxic clients, ugh! Time to heal, and if i am unwell, i can be hermiting as much as i need. Like today, i had some unexpected urgent SE, and jeez it was a near fecal disaster. We have a very modest lifestyle, and i am cutting all things i can from the budget. We can make it on much less than most folks. My hermit ranch is old, some has been redone, with a huge yard. but my 2 kitties love it. I got new appliances last year so at least there is that. I can cook healthy stuff all day!  cant wait to spend more time with the "children" too, yes i mean the cats!

Mags and Cami, you both are beautiful! Love the pics!  Mags, I hope the shakes leave you alone, that's miserable.

Sally, I picked maidentiredofwaiting because I was diagnosed in April 2014 and although initially things moved fast, all the waiting for test results and surgeries, dr appmts, etc...started to get to me.  That's where the name came from.  My real name is Ann and I don't mind either way.

I am 41 with 2 boys, 15 & 7 and my DH and dog Charlie, who is a Boston terrier and is currently snoring like a freight train by my feet.  Not sure I'll ever get to sleep.  Also my head itches from my haircut and pieces are falling out all over.  Blah!  And I am a housewife hermit.  I worked 16 years at an insurance company ( one of those the govt bailed out!) And hated how corporate it had become.  So after being severely stressed for many years I just quit.  Thank God I did because I had no idea at that time I had cancer.

I guess that's it for now.  Best wishes to all of you!

P.S.  Teka, the lobster roll sounds great! Welcome Bippy!

Here's some TBTpicks I'd thought I'd share....My hubby and I kissing with face masks ( I was N art major working with spray paints, hence the masks) before we were married, me just 19, our 6th anniversary at Lake Geneva, Wi, my mom and I two years before she passed from colon cancer, my dog Charlie, and a current photo of my family.

There have been a few new comers lately, is there room for one more in the Hermit cabin?  I have been reading this thread for a while, and feel it is a good fit for me.  I am an extreme introvert, keep to myself most of the time, hence I've never had any real friends.  I enjoy quiet time to myself and working in my garden.  I'm 47, live on 10 acres out in the country with my hubby and 24 yr. old son (he'll be moving out in about a month - bittersweet).  We have two kitties to also keep us company.  I am working full time, but would LOVE to not have to.  Our mortgage is too high for me to quit or even work part time.  I would love to find a place that is smaller with less upkeep, but our house has so much work needing done that no one would buy it in its current condition!  It is overwhelming at times.  Maybe I should start playing the lottery.  Anyhow, taking one day at a time, and trying to enjoy life as much as possible.  I don't tend to post very much, as I never feel like I have anything worthwhile to contribute (yes, I also have always had low self esteem!), but this thread seems very open and friendly and everyone talks about daily life and casual stuff instead of all BC stuff all the time.  I hope you don't mind if I hang around!

well Monis I found your post really interesting so please stay! 10 acres wow, know how you feel i am trying to get some house maintenance done before our rains, so hoping for them this year as heat has been way too intense........we are all heat exhausted.

    Welcome!

Welcome Monis!  I just realized I forgot the Charlie pic....here it is.  He's my real baby.  Always at my side.  I miss my long hair.  I never had my hair this short (boy short) & now is starting to fall out in earnest.  My husband keeps telling me I look like Joyce Meyers.  Gee thanks, she's twenty + years older than me!  Oh well, that's men for you.

    Teka- safe travels home.

Monis- welcome to our thread. Always room for another here. Thanks for telling us a bit about yourself too. We are a good place to talk about bc stuff, relationship stuff, etc. but we like to share a lot of other things here. Special outings, stories about vacations, hobbies we enjoy, etc. Feel free to share anything you want here.

Maiden- thank you for sharing all the great photos too. I am sorry about your hair. I know it is one of the worst parts of the chemo treatment for many women.

Thank you to all of you posting pictures.  I so enjoy them.

Jazzy, so sorry you have to deal with skin C.  It's good that you have someone to consult with.  Thanks for mentioning it because I need to nag DH about rescheduling a dermatologist appointment that he cancelled during his last COPD exacerbation.

Maiden, thank you for the story of your name.

    Hi and welcome Monis.

Cami, don't forget to update us on what you did with your hair for Joey's guest.

    Lily, happy to see you.

Hi Jackie, Onco, Bippy, Mags, and Teka.

Onco, that's hilarious! I so needed a laugh this morning. Cousin is back at her conference today so DH is WFH as he calls it – working from home. He is in IT and everything is online these days so when he doesn't need to actually be there he can WFH. But he has a team lunch today, a farewell to one of their favorite interns, so he's going out for a bit. I am confined to the recliner for the duration, still shaky and my tummy is telling me Big D is returning so lomotil is at hand. DH invited me to go with him to lunch, I just gave him one of those Are you out of your flippin mind??!! looks. Sometimes...

Welcome, monis, you will find like minded souls here, and we talk about just about everything!

Maidentired, love the pics. We are all hoping that when our hair grows back it doesn't do what my hairdresser' some client' side and grow back curly on one side and straight on the other!

Teka, have a safe trip home. Hope you got your fill of lobster.

Jazzy, I want to hear all about your new wood floors. DH is talking about starting to replace our carpeting with wood, so I'd be interested to hear why you picked what you did and what it looks like.

Meantime, I'm down for the count. <3 Hermies.

oh, i love all these pics! I must include some soon, if i have the gumption to unearth them.  I had 80's hair and it is hilarious!  Fellow hermies, my energy is low, and my weekend plans are: snoozing, relaxing, gentle stretching with kitties, watching NON quality shows of my choosing, reading, texting pals, applying for financial grants to help me pay bills, creating a pile of things to sell on ebay, gutting my monthly cost output. Basically prepping for life on unemployment!   Oh, and hearing from all of you about what you are up to! I may, depending on my state of body, do a tad of cooking too. Happy friday to all!

OK Bippy the first part of what u'r planning is great u got me on the 2nd part tho. Sounds tiring--But everyone know how lazy I am, and now u know.

Oh Mags that was nice of u'r DH to ask, not that u'd go, but it was still sweet--Just make sure u have everything u need around u. My cousin would always tease me bout my  chair--I had everything I needed and if we could build a flushing toilet with comfort in there I would never have to get up. LOL

Sally I feel like chit today so whtever I do I do, she doesn't have to meet me, it's not like they're going to get married. They are going out most of the day anyway, they are going to play miniature golf and then for pizza. Of course with my DD and my SIL--Hr family took Joey to the zoo one day and out to eat so u have to do something I guess.

Teka tell us when u'r home.

    OK BBL HUGS all around

Yes, Cami, sweet of him to ask, and then go out for Mexican food! My favorite, and me here feeling like someone snapped off my big toe and drained the life outta me!dragged through a knothole backward. Rode hard and put away wet. Peak-ed my mom would say (it's two syllables when you use it that way. However, cousin came home early from her conference and scrambled me some eggs (plain) and fixed me cottage cheese with pears. So at least there's something in me to feed Big D when he rolls around. :) tomorrow is farmers market here so she's going to go and restock my honey supply and some good local fruit. The peaches have been lovely this year.
