Jazzy rest well, I'm glad it's all over--Just slow down no matter how u feel.
Trying to figure this out BIPPY this is u'r last official work day YAY for u--It'll seem funny at first but it's so easy to get used to (except the money prt) I have perfected the "being home part" so it's all good.
Monis it's so wonderful to go on a vacay and see u'r family and especially u'r mom--Enjoy it all and relax at all times. U deserve this.
I hope everyone has a good decent feeling day and weather wise it's going to be wacky, now were in for hot stuff. Crazy

yes camile, today is it! I moved up my launch date. I train my replacement today, haha. I should be sad, but all i feel is relief. I am so happy not to have to drag my aching body and spirit to that hellhole after today. My next job after recovery will NOT be in family law, i can tell you that much!

Good morning hermits- slept pretty well although I did wake up and need to take some Tylenol. I plan to take things easy today, although I do have the folks who are doing the new hardwood floors next week coming in this afternoon to drop off the wood to adjust to the climate of the house. Nothing I really need to do, but open the door on that one. I have taken myself down a gear or two....
Bippy- I am glad you are getting out of this stressful job situation. Going through this helps you to see those situations so clearly. I did some contract work for a client for 19 months until this past June, including during some time when I was going through rads treatment. I needed the money and my client was flexible to let me work remote when I needed to. They never knew about my bc. I now am talking to some folks about new contract work for the fall-better work with better people!
No funky hairdo, I think I won't have much loss up up top. I was not sure if they shaved it or not, but no. I will have a thin scar to add to my fabulous collection I started in 2012!
Monis- congrats on taking a trip and it sounds like you have a great time planned. I am sure your family will be glad to see you and know you are okay. I went on my first vacation post treatment last summer after spending my previous time off doing a lot of not good things. Big step in your recovery and glad you are getting away. Enjoy and let us know how it all went after you get back!
Blonde and Cami- how you are you ladies feeling this week?
Teka-
Lily, Onco, everyone else here, I hope everyone else here is doing well today. I do appreciate all your support this past week with my surgery. Here is a picture of my head and bandage.

Wow that pressure thing must hurt a bit........hope you can get a normal dressing soon.......
I am feeling increasingly nervous as have next procedure in couple of weeks, this is number two of my repeat cycle but it was number two that went wrong first time around so that is adding to my jitters.....so this is number four in reality but really only number two in terms of progress.....I so hope it works and makes a visible difference, I really struggle with the way I am physically, daily

Jazzy, happy to hear that you are not in too much discomfort.
Bippy, happy last day of work.
Monis, wishing you safe travels and the making of lovely memories.
I have been out scattering rose petals this morning ... my habit when deadheading my Knockout rose. I don't know why, but I enjoy seeing the scattered petals. I was going to post a picture, but this iPad an my iPhone camera are not communicating.

Lily- what is the date of your surgery so we can be ready to be here for you as you approach it, go through it, and come through the other side. I know you have had to deal with a lot of re-do surgery, which is just so unfair.
Would you like to share that date with us?

Ist September.........its only fat transfer although not sure you can say only as it will be 4 to 5 hours long............and I am using the BRAVA beforehand which is causing some tissue swelling but does actually work at stretching out the welded together tissue and skin (thanks to RADS), thank you.....

Lily I'm so glad u wrote more than one sentence this time. Before I came to BCO I never realized all that some of u go thru--it's got to be nerve wracking--I hope and I know it will be good this time.
Jazzy I'm always trying ro be positive, but that looks painful to me--right on top--now slow down til u heal Missy.
Bippy let us know how this last day went and tomorrow u can have coffee at u'r leisure.
Chit 2 cups of coffee and again I'm ready for a nap.

THanks - I am very aware that my current procedures are cosmetic (reconstructive yes) and not cancer treatment like poor Mags and Blondie are dealing with and I am trying to be less hermitty and ashamed of having had bc and been left mutilated in real life......took out funeral insurance recently and had to disclose my bc history and the anticipation was worse than the reality but I am still left with feelings of disquiet rumlbing away inside leaving me feeling unsetlled, even though I know the Agent will never reveal it socially or to anyone other than the relevant company personnel (we are a small community here...most people know you via one or two people removed)

Lilly- reconstruction is very much a part of this process of treatment and it is very important you get what you need. I am on another thread with a woman who is also preparing for some re-do of her reconstruction as they screwed hers up too. Seems that more than a few women go through this, but think it is awful.
I know you have ansgt about another surgery. Do you happen to meditate? I started doing it again recently and did it every morning this past week as I approached my little procedure yesterday. It helped me to stay calm, focused, and to do what I had to do. It helps me alot and thought I would offer it up as a suggestion to help you.
Thank you for telling us your date so we can be here with you as you go through this. We will all be in your pocket the day of as well as before and after.
Cami and Sally- the bandage looks worse than the incision underneath. It is just a bigger bandage and covers more due to the anchoring of it. I plan to leave it on through tomorrow morning when I will take a shower and wash my hair (they told me today was okay, but will give it another day). Then I will put a lighter dressing and cover it with a cotton headband. And I am slowing down to take care of myself, I promise!
One of my friends suggested I get a mohawk. No way!

Good morning, Hermies! Actually got a little bit of sleep last night, not a lot but it may be enough to break the insomnia cycle. My cousin has run off with a man. LOL a fellow from choir is taking her with him to our local tv station's version of antique road show and she took her mom's treasured box that purportedly belonged to Marie Antoinette. Who knows? Stranger things have happened. Ok maybe not. So I have the house to myself for the afternoon. Will I do something crazy? Will I watch soaps and eat bonbons? Will I dance around to 60's rock?
Probably not. I'll sit here reading BCO and Facebook, drink my good juice and take all my pills. Because I'm a boring person and I have no life. And I'm good with that, for now.
Bippy, yay! Last day! What a feeling!
Monis, have a great vacation with your family! Get lots of love & hugs, hopefully no drama like some of our families provide.
Jazzy, take it easy and let your head heal. Can't have your brains falling out before you start your next chapter!
Everyone, gentle hugs.

Mags- did you say you have Netflix? I saw a movie that really has stayed with me since I watched it called, Face of Love. Annette Benning and Ed Harris with a small part by our dear Robin Williams. It is a love story of sorts, but a lot more than that too. Excellent acting and good story line.
I determined today a head band on the head not a good idea right now. Too much pressure on the incision area, so I am doning a cute little hat for now when I need to cover up. I think in a few more days, it may be more do-able.
Speaking of heads and hair, how do you like you new wig Mags?

Mags u r not boring. U'r healing for as long as it takes. And how exciting for u'r cousin, u have to let us know.
Jazzy keep all pressure off of u'r head for heavens sake, u silly.
Lily I hate to say this but a lot of women re not happy with their results. And I think the PS would know how to make this bettr but for some strange reason they don't Please don't think of u'rself as so different, u mind is in turmoil and u'r healing is hard on u. U'll get there Lily, but never be ashamed of how u look--please u'r heart is beautiful and that's the most important thing about u.

Lily, we posted at the same time earlier, so I just saw your post. You have been through a lot. We will be thinking of you on September 1st, and, of course you are in our thoughts now as prepping for surgery is a stressful time too.
Jazzy, it's good to hear that you are slowing down to heal. The thought of taking that bandage off makes me grimace. I hope the tape comes away easily.
Mags, please say you will update us on "the box." Dark chocolate---raspberry bon bons ... yummmm!

Well, cousin's little box turns out to be a sugar bowl, French, but not as early as Marie Antoinette. But for such a small thing, it's actually worth about $250.00. Best thing, she had a great time doing it.
Jazzy, I'm not that crazy about the wig, I might take it to my hairdresser and have him style it and maybe trim to shape. Can't remember if I posted a pic? I actually took one. I haven't worn it out, but I wore it on our anniversary, since DH seems to love it, but it was off before the end of the evening.
The afternoon flew by, DH came home early, we watched sciency stuff on tv. Best thing: quiet tummy.
And so to bed. Nini Hermies! Hoping to sleep all night. (Glass of wine might help?)

Blondie I think of u all the time, now u found something else too. Chit--u are going thru way to much. and I'm so sorry.
Mags my D got me up now and I didn't make it to the bathroom, PITA literally. took some pils, hope it's not an all day thing. My tummy doesn't get upset and I get no warning it just comes whenever it feels lke it==drat. But at least during the day I'm awake. Now I am tho.
My sister had an MRI cuz she said her head was not feeling right--they found her mets on her skull years ago--But the MRI was good so she was relieved, don't know why she's not feeling right tho. And her other tests came out good too. So the mystery shall remain.
Well at least I have TV to watch for now. Hope I'm done.

blondie this may not be your thing but i started to feel a lot better when i took curcumin, it is anti cancer but also anti inflammatory and i really noticed a difference after two weeks of taking it. For best results you need to take the liposomal version as its not absorbed well otherwise
0 -
Good morning hermits- checking in here before I get my day going. I hope everyone has a good day. Or at least a reasonable one?
Blondie- I am sorry you are not feeling well. I am going to PM you to talk a bit more one on one if you are willing.
Mags- yes you did post a picture of you and the new wig when you got it. I was watching something on QVC the other day with some cute wigs and it made me think of you. Perhaps you only will wear it when you really need to. In most cases, you are staying close to home right now and may not need to wear it. My sister wore hers to work during her chemo treatment and said by the end of the day, it was just too hot and very itchy. Her hair grew back nicely, and yours will too.
Lili- curcumin is the active ingredient in turmeric, yes? I have heard a lot about that as an anti-cancer agent.
Cami- I am sorry to hear the D is plaguing you. I hope it eases up and you can rest. No doubt you may be working today too....
The compression bandage is off and incision looks okay. I was able to shower and wash my hair, and that felt SO good! I have really come to appreciate the value of being able to take a good shower after some of my procedures and treatments the past few years. Simple pleasures are the best, and a nice hot shower is one of those in my book. I now have a gauze pad on top and headband to secure everything up top.
I woke up a bit headachy this morning, but that just comes with the territory with having surgery on one's scalp. Took a couple Tylenol and already feel better. I am going to go out this afternoon, I have an apt this afternoon I must do, but otherwise, taking things easy this week.

Good morning again--my eyes are closing, right now--but Jazzy that noggin of u'rs take care of it.

Cami, I hope your D passes quickly. So glad your sister's tests turned out well ... so scary.
Mags, it's interesting that the sugar box is worth that much ... and nice that your cousin had fun ... interesting fun.
Jazzy, take good care of yourself ... you are so wonderful about taking care of us: now it is time to take as good care of yourself!
I hope everyone has something good that is unexpected happen today. Unexpectedly, my brother called me yesterday. We usually communicate by email. Talking with him was a treat.
0 -
yes Curcumin is turmeric
0 -
Sally- it is so nice when someone calls you that you normally communicate with otherwise. My BFF in Connecticut called the other night to check in on me post surgery and it is always a heartfelt conversation when we do talk.
I know exactly how you feel. Phone calls and face to face with folks is a rare treat anymore. Glad you had a good chat with your brother.
And I am taking very good care of myself this week!

hi hermettes, my hair is givin up the ghost. Day 13, there it goes! Behold! The year of suck begins in earnest! I would seriously rather shave it than touch it to have loads of come out in my hands....like it is doing. Well, part of it all. At least i need not worry about styling it for months! I hope i have a fine lookin skull.
0 -
Bippy- you have a good attitude despite what is going on. Sorry the hair is going.
Have you thought about going to a wig place to get something for the interim? Wig shops have other cool stuff like little baseball caps with hair hanging down. My sister got one of those during her chemo, and wore it when she would go out to the store, etc. during that time.
