Also, for any of you that may be interested. Joan Lunden is on the Today Show this week talking about everything she has gone through to date with her BC treatment. I just saw her talking about the whole diagnosis process, how they found her tumor (through ultrasound after mammo) and where she is today. She has gone through aggressive chemo and just had a lumpectomy last week (god bless her, who would want to be on TV right after that???)

Anyways, she seems to be really helping everyone understand what is like to go through this and think that is a valuable education process for the masses as so many women go through this and as we know, many just don't get it.

Teka- I used to watch Joan Lunden for years when I was younger and always admired her. She was probably one of the first female anchors I remember, beginning in college when she began doing Good Morning America and while having her 3 girls. Back in the 1980's when women were still told "family or career, you really cannot have both." She did a lot to show everyone yes, you can be a mom and have a career too. She is a strong woman and has 4 more children now.

Joan is being very open about everything, how she went through the loss of her hair, being scared of the future, being "moved into things at meteoric speed" once she was diagnosed, not knowing yet what she will do about a possible next round of chemo. Her father was an oncologist actually, and she said if he were alive, he would want her being a spokesperson about what this is really about.

And as we all know, we are heading into the Pinktober.....

Slappy-Squirrel- I love your handle! I cannot remember seeing you here before so welcome!

Went to drop off some things at consignment this morning and working on contract negotiations this afternoon. Got some chix cordon bleu in the oven for lunch.

Finally getting some much needed rain here. Hubby called me a bit ago from work and asked me if I could trim his hair for him tonight after dinner.

Mommyof2- how are the colors there in CT? I expect you might just be starting with the beginning of the color change? I always remember October being spectacular.

So you are a hair stylist too, eh?

Bippy, I need to clean house too.  As a transplanted easterner, I will never get used to desert dust.  Dust seems to collect immediately after dusting.

Teka, I always enjoy your coffee cup posters, but today's design was super special.  If I saw it in a store, I would buy it.  It looks something like Englebretson's (sp) artwork.

Jazzy, did you get your nap today?

Hi Slappy, MOmmy, Lily, and those hiding on the previous page.

The benign results of yesterday's aspiration and biopsy made today super special.  With these results in, I have completed my one year diagnostic mammogram.

Here is the interview today with Joan Lunden on the Today show. I loved watching her talk about it as she is very real about this whole thing, and said a number of things that were exactly the way I experienced it.

I think she is going to be on every day this week, while she is also trying to decide about more chemo.

Sally-wow, great news on the negative biopsy! Congrats on that and making it through a year too. We like to celebrate those kinds of results here! You go do something nice for yourself now, okay?

Teka- I live in a place where you can see the stars so beautifully. My favorite place to start gaze is when I go up to my favorite hot springs and soak at night and look up at the stars (did not do that last week, but gonna do it for Xmas!)

Ha, I could not get on the top of a car either. Would probably roll off and break a hip!

    Star gazing party at jazzy's.......

I feel beaten, we have been shafted by the legal system (note I dont say justice as they would not even recognise the word) as well as the health system, I am so miserable I see no point in going on, what is there to look forward to? More days of trying to come to terms with being mutilated, and living under a shadow surrounded by people who dont get it but pride themselves they do and on top of that its focktober so all the worthies will be out being earnest and sincere re awareness........

    Happy wednesday everyone!

good morning Hermits!  Bippy is on coffee #2, oh the joy!  getting prepped for my best friend's visit, still cleaning and organizing. Was going to get genetic testing done today but screw it, I just cannot stomach another needle, and i get blood drawn tomorrow too.  It will not change my decision to get a bmx anyway, so why bother and it cost 100 bucks out of pocket!

Was able to eat pizza yesterday, no problems, nearly cried from the pleasure. Will try ice cream today.  Finally some cooler air coming, ready for fall. I HATE the heat, could not tolerate it before illness and now it is worse.

October is here!  I am just discovering that the pink thing sort of bothers me, like alot of gals here. never thought of it before, but then my false sense of security eroded after my dependable mammos showed NOTHING, yet i had cancer the whole time!  And likely for years beforehand too.  So simply getting a mamo is NO protection for dense tissue girls. I dislike that message that it protects us all. Maybe some....not all!

Okay off the box. Have a freat Wednesday Herettes!

Well this month is gonna be pretty busy with appointments for me. Thank goodness I end the month on a good note when I see my breast surgeon for the 6 month check-up. The last time I saw her I had gotten a letter from the place where I went for my very first mammo (ow, hate those things and I feel bad for those who still have to do this) and while I was there I asked her if I needed to have it done since I have had the surgery. She told me that I was exempt from now on because she took everything that could be done and if my insurance would ever say I had to do this test she would gladly write a letter saying that I was exempt because of the surgery!

Good morning hermits- I am watching the Joan Lunden's segment again this morning. I will post it again for you for those that may be interested. A surgical MO is talking right now that mammos don't catch everything.

Happy October, Pinktober, or Focktober. I am with many of you that there are many things that don't get discussed as part of this month of awareness.

Lili- I am so sorry that things are still so hard for you.

Mommy- the upside of lumpectomy is keeping the breast. The downside are those 6 month follow ups. I have had three now and always nervous before and holding my breath. Do you see your MO every since months too? It does not look like you are taking any anti-hormone drugs from what I can see from your footnotes?

Blondie- your son will have to figure out how to get himself to and from work. Do you have buses in your area? I don't like that he is yelling at you.

Bippy- I am so with you that eating something good can bring a joy like no other. I did not do chemo, but know many that do have issues with things tasting okay. Pizza is one of my favorite foods and know I love a good slice from time to time myself (rarely eat more due to the carbs).

    Mags- you okay?

Hope everyone else is doing okay on this first day of October.
