Welcome catlady! If you are in fact a cat lover, this is the right thread for you as there are many here who love kitties too!

I live alone too. And, we understand here the need to hermit, especially during treatment. It looks like you are still in treatment too. That being said, what I found helpful is to ask my friends who understood and could just either come over to visit or take me out for something simple like coffee. You just cannot do all the things you normally do during treatment, including socializing, so please don't feel badly about that. You need to focus on treatment and all that goes with that.

I had a hard time for a good year after with wanting to be part of group gatherings. As a social person, I found it surprising, but am not so good anymore with small talk or listening to things others may have going on that to me now seem petty. I see my social time not as an either or situation, but more now as "selective socialization." I am still someone who does that too two years post treatment. I don't do all the invites I used to and don't care to. I show up for things I want to do that bring me joy and don't worry about the rest.

It is also okay to tell people you appreciate their invites to bigger things they want to include you in right now, but that you are unable to consider these invites right now. You can let them know when you would be ready to participate in those again.

And I have a hard time asking for help too, as I am a very independent person. But people do want to help and if you can be specific with some things they can do, it will be good for you and for them.

And yes, cancer surely does suck. No argument there!

Hi everybody else. I have an awards event this morning and must run but wishing everyone else a good day!

Hi Catlady! Welcome. You will be well supported here. And, yes, there are a lot of cat lovers here!

Jazzy, Pic is so encouraging - ready for Spring. having the PM limit issue - need to wait 3 hours to send my reply... Why ??? Wonder how long this lasts? I learned a lesson and copied and pasted... I hope tonight brings recognition and celebration for you!

Mommy, hope DD is open and you and hubby can spend a little quality time with treats!

Blondie, I wish that I could come there, scoop you up, and take you to your MO appt - ONLY if you wanted to go... otherwise, I would just bring you a meal of your favorite food and a hug. [ Palbociclib (now Ibrance) has been approved for treating MBC - with anti-hormonal. Some on stage IV threads have started this drug] Do you have some supportive slippers for at home? A soft cozy blanket? HA- at the moment I am having an intense HOT flash and throwing off everything... the irony. I do love a soft cuddle blanket, though. Keeping that foot/ankle elevated? My onc has NEVER called me. They LOVE you!! <3

Teka, can you share another cheery graphic? I need a chuckle or smile... Thanks in advance.

Sally, I have moved beyond the napping phase of recovery. I am just plain cranky. Thank you for your thoughtfulness.

Welcome to catlady, our newest Hermie! You will find much affinity with us here! We should all post our kitties again so you can meet the crew.

Even though I have a DH and a DC (Dear Cousin) who share the house with me, they don't interfere too much with my hermiting. DC is off gallivanting around (she's 78) and DH works his tail off. She I get to lie about here and spend the days with my kittie and 2 pups. Except these days I'm having to take off in the middle of the day and get rads. Monday is the last! Can't wait. Skin damage has been pretty extensive.

    Ok here's my Sophie:

She's hiding from Rose, my Schnoodle.

Mags, that's really NOT a picture of Sophie :) and sorry about your skin and shoulder but way so impressed with your courage and determination.

between you and Teka, I am giggling.

Teka, I needed that -- smiling despite my achy gut!

I need to go take some kitty pics...

Hubby's delayed opening at work got changed to a cancellation a short time later. We were able to get my appointment with the PS moved up to the morning. Got the sutures from the revision out today and they said everything looks good and the areas where the drainage was coming from last week have healed up. Looks like they will start up the fill process again very soon.

Hi ladies- hope everyone is doing well. I did not win my award today, but am good with that as I also did not expect to. I enjoyed the awards event and nomination recognition, and now on to working on my taxes to give to my accountant. Got some more biz meetings coming up tomorrow. Life is good!

Went to the BS for my reschedule check up with her today (originally planned for Jan but moved out by them). All is well and the BS thought I have never looked better.

I met a nice woman in the waiting area that was gong through her final follow up and was so happy to have made it to the 5 year milestone. It was nice to talk to someone who was there to celebrate something positive!

Mags - You are a victor. So amazing that you made it through (well, technically Monday?)... if you read back through your early posts regarding radiation, you will smile and know how strong you are. Prayers of thanksgiving. {{{hugs}}} - just virtual cause anything else would hurt... Prayers for Healing.

    Teka, I laughed - Thanks!

Jazzy, Love Pharrell Williams' "Happy" song - good choice

Teka- no, not from either. Dwill seems gone too. I have not seen them on any threads and hope everyone is doing okay. Say hi folks if you are out there lurking!

Lily- I am sorry you have received this news. Maybe it will help you for awhile until you get stronger you can find something PT? Look at our Cami, she works PT. But I know everyone's opportunities may be different.

You sounded so good after you moved into your new place, I am sorry things are down for you again. Hugs sister.

May I please join the club? On an introvert scale 1 to 10 I showed as 10 - it was some personality test I once took at local college.

I love sitting at home, don't like going out much. I don't even like talking on the phone, I prefer communicating at my own pace, via email, text, etc.

BB- welcome! Of course you can join our thread. We have lots of hermits here and share as we like to. It is a slower moving thread, so I think you should enjoy the pace and share with us whatever you would like to.

It looks like you may be in treatment right now, so do let us know how we can support you? We have some who have completed treatment recently, some of us who did awhile ago (2 years out for me), and so many of us have been down the pike and around the bend on this stuff. We will help you as we can.

We hope you like it here with us!

Thank you, Jazzygirl. I'll be popping in to read and to ask questions maybe.

Yes, I am in treatment, started chemo a few days ago and I'm still mostly scared

BB- it is very scary when you are newly diagnosed and just into treatment. I had to work hard to let go and trust the process and the doctors who do get you through this. I did not have chemo, but know other on this thread have and may be able to help with any questions specific to that. I will help you however I can.
