So nice to be able to wear shorts today and not have to have fans or a/c on to keep cool. News this morning said we might see temps in the high 60s by sometime this week before they rebound into the 70s

Relaxing now that essay, dishes and laundry are done! Just trying to mentally conquer what to do for dinner. Hubby has to take car to the repair shop to have headlight bulb replaced after work.

We have some crazy weather going on here today. Big storm an hour ago brought 1.7 inches to some parts of the city in 20 minutes! Storm #2 is morning in now. Flash flooding abounds! Glad I don't have to be anywhere this afternoon or evening.
I like rain, but not quite this much at once! Last gasp of the summer monsoon season that wraps up by late Sept.

Now that I have a car again, I'm seeing just how much of a hermit I really am. Had to take Rose to the groomer and could have gone anywhere but came home and sat in my cozy chair until she was done. Went and fetched her and came right home. I don't know whose separation anxiety is worse.
I love those flowers, Teka, and it's a perfect color palette. We have just divested ourselves of the furniture we bought for the living room two houses ago. That would be 1999. Cousin gave us a huge painting, rowboats moored on still water with mist & trees, so I'm thinking blues and creams. I love my big overstuffed chair though, so instead of replacing it I found a slipcover with matching ottoman cover that I like. I'll dig up pics.

Thought I would join the hermit group! love staying home and am happy to have a job that's from home too. My DH however likes to be out & about, he's great at doing the shopping and running all the little errands that we need done while I work.

Hi Jazzy! Yes I do knit, sometimes probably too much (lol). We live in Oregon after growing up and living in Southern California forever. We have a bunch of kids & grandkids, some close some not. DH is retired, I work. Pretty boring life to many but we like it.
I was shaken to my core with my DCIS diagnosis. I lost my sister in 1992 to this & vowed that if it ever showed up in me I would do all I can to avoid recurrence or spread. I had a lumpectomy, radiation and now take exesmestane. During this my DH started having heart problems, afib, was hospitalized twice, first time for 7 days (right before my lx), the second time in the middle of radiation (9 days that time, finally got a pacemaker).
We are both settling into a new normal, visiting docs for one of us frequently, and trying to relax. Just last week I saw my RO who said I look great and unless I have a question I'm finished there. Also saw the MO who said I look fine with the exesmestane and to come back in 6 months. Next week I see the surgeon who will probably cut me loose too.
This has been such a whirlwind of a summer that it's now that I am feeling the emotional toil. I'm so glad to have found this place, I don't think anyone can truly understand unless you have experienced this personally. Cancer is such a strong and terrifying word.

ORknitter- thank you for sharing a bit about yourself and your story. Your life in Oregon sounds very peaceful.
I am sorry to hear you lost your sister to BC. My doctors told me at dx that bc is very treatable with good survival stats, but we all know someone who has lost their battle with and thus, what this can mean to any of us. My sister and I were both diagnosed within months of each other, but we are both doing fine so far. They say cancer runs in families, but we had no bc in our family. However, anyone can get cancer as we all very well know.
You and I had very similar treatment. I just take a different AI. It does take awhile to feel better and also "process everything" as you get dragged through everything so fast. And yes, you are right that people who have gone through this understand the best. We do our best to help each other. There are people here from newly diagnosed to those many years down the pike. I am now three years out from dx. You will feel better.
A healthcare crisis is stressful for others around us. Sorry to hear about your husband but it sounds like he got good care and is doing better? I wish you both good and improving health!

Welcome, Knitter! Yes, we Hermies are pretty quiet. Now that I can drive again and have a car, I'm finding what a hermit I really am. I'm retired now, but I owned my own graphic arts business for 18 years, and all but 4 I worked from home. My DH is 9 years younger than I, still vigorous and hard working, I don't even try to keep up. I have severe arthritis and spinal degeneration, and chronic fatigue, so I save up my energy to do important things.
I was born in San Diego, my mom was a native Los Angeleno, still have lots of family there but haven't been out since 92.0 -

I have to say my first thought was not "Oregon knitter", but "Operating Room knitter" and I was trying to figure out the logistics of knitting in the operating room. OK, I'm not completely goofy and I figured out quite quickly that you meant Oregon.

I am getting ready to go to NY on Thursday and got a cleaning bug today! Did some overdue filing in the home office today. Now I am attacking the bedroom and master bath!
In the process I found some pictures to take to my cousins for them to have. Some photos of our families and also some great family photos that include the bride to be this Saturday. The photos were from my mothers collection of photos I took when we cleaned out our parents home in 2005. I found these photos in the past few months and put them aside and they could not find them. They say when you loose something, start cleaning!
BB- funny about the knitting in the ER. I have a vision of someone saying "scalpel" as they reach out there gloved hand to someone sitting in a corner of an OR knitting away. It could make for a fun sitcom!
Going to take a break in awhile and go to the gym for a nice swim.
