OMG when I read a few posts we all sound like we're 100 yrs. old. Our bodies are betraying us. Imagine how my already old body feels. hahaha

I washed clothes today and put all my winter clothes away and vacuumed my room--The end of what I did and I'm pooped (literally)

So I'm going to try to sleep early tonite--no naps today so hopefully it works.

    See u tomorrow.

    Hello ladies:

Getting back in to the work groove this week and catching up on some posts with you lovely people. I hope everybody got through this week well and can enjoy some peace this week.

Curveball-welcome and wanted to say I am with you on keeping things private from the work world. I am working on a new contract for one of my large clients and walk around thinking "these people have no idea what is going on with me", but then want it that way.

And perhaps keeping your new home/residence is a way to help you keep your privacy and space to heal. I don't think there is any right or wrong way to do things with this stuff. I need more time alone these days and find myself more of a homebody and less into social outings. We just need to do what we need to do to take care of ourselves, get through our treatment plan, and heal our bodies, right?

Jazzy U r so right---as long as it takes is as long as it takes and everyone is different. If u'r working think and feel the way u want--u need that for u'r self.

Good morning all. I crashed hard last night. Fell asleep around 9, woke up for a couple hours then fell back asleep for 8 more hours, lol. Tonight the girls are going over to my moms so I'm going to start wrapping gifts, or lay on the couch and think about how I should be wrapping gifts Tongue Out

Fl- you'd think with all the lower body movements my toosh and legs would be tighter, lol!

Camille- good job! Laundry is my arch nemesis. I hate it. Apparently, everyone else in this house does too because they can't seem to find the laundry room. I keep telling them it's the small room off of the kitchen but they must get lost or something Tongue Out  I think I should draw them a map or put the gps directions in their electronic devices.

Hi Jazzy! My husband was telling the secretary at work, "well we might make it to the Christmas party. It's up to Mary. She is kind of a last minute person". lol! I should go. They have been very good to us. I just look so weird and don't want to hear about everyone's grandma, cousin, sister, mother that died from BC.

Whaevah, hope you are feeling okay, or otttaaayyy from the pain pills :) Our show is new tonight. Jaime Fox. Should be interesting. Wasn't he on In Living Color waayyy back in the day with Jim Carey.

Back to the land of the living;)

Have to say, my deport looks pretty good. The insert and removal were worlds apart, looks wise as well. I am convinced both procedures need to be done by a Thoracic Surgeon who is not surprised by a 'different anatomy". My veins run is a circuitous way. Who knew?

I read all the posts and hermitville sounds positively divine! Elves running through the posts too. Yay!

markat, the party sounds fun, decide at the last minute, keep things interesting! I am looking forward to our show. LOVED In Living Color, will never forget "Wanda" .

Loved the kitty pic...and welcome to Detroit and Curveball!

Skittle...I think of you often LOL the new commmerical for "rainbows of skittles" Laughing

*waves* , wish I could post to all individually but little neuro fingers and chemobrain are having a party. Tongue Out

    Happy weekend everyone~

Whaevah U sound better good. I'm lad that's al done for u.

Markat go to rhe party--It's like saying I know someone who had cancer do u know them--it's just as stupid. But u will look beautiful. Wear something nice, don't fix u'r hair, walk with a cane and see how everyone tells u how good u look. LOL I would do that tonite myself but my Grandson has already asked to to look pretty for everyone. And not to dress like I usually do. He notices. So I have to put some effort in this. Yuck--That means make-up which I never wear-By the time I take my shower the water will be cold--But I uess I'd better get moving a bit. It takes me so long--I'm sure I'll be coming into my Island soon--these are party people and love to drink so when I wake up there wil be bodies all over the place and no one better get in the way of my bathroom, I'm out of pills--I take them like candy. Oh I'll have to talk tonite and Like I said eeryone will say how good I look. And I look like an old crone with dark circles and bags down to my chin. Oh I'm already tired. Too much D this week which always knocks me out.Maybe I'll just make an appearance for a whil and come back in my room--no one will notice. And Joey will have some cousins here so he'll be busy.. haha a plan in action.

whaevah --glad you have a sweet tooth!  Can't be grumpy near rainbows!  Hope you're feeling better and better.

teka--thought Henri might be smiles for you.  My dd1 introduced me, and wants so much to use the mousepad (I'm surrounded by morons!) at work, but doesn't want the cattiness to get her in trouble.  The ladies she works with don't have a whole lot of work ethic.  Lots of gossip and long lunch breaks for a few.  She gets frustrated.

camille--the D always wins.  You're quite the social butterfly--represent us all and have an inner count of how many you-look-greats.  We can have a holiday tally going.  (the winner will be first at the lottery-financed spa day.)

asked DH about Danskos.  His opinion is: overpriced for what you get, and stability is not great if you get the "rocker sole"--the curved heel.  He builds custom insoles for some of his diabetic guys, and they seem to make the difference in nearly any brand that fits well.  Most frequent problem that he sees is women buy the wrong size shoe (kinda like bra sizes.)  Cool  shoe sizes need to have a decent toe bed so toes are not cramped inward.  (ok--sorry to go overboard.)  splash!  (FL--I might need your help.  I can't swim!!)

markat--long ago I had the lost laundry room problem.  I took a spool of strong red string and tied it to the door of the allergic-to-proper-placement person.  I strung it all the way to the washer... decorated with embarrassing dainties placed strategically along the route.  Like when a city flags a water line or sidewalk construction...
Amazingly, the laundry room became immediately popular, and I never had to stoop and scoop from the floor again.  Embarassed

Hermits--knowing you're from all over...  there'll be a food fest at work all week.  My day to bring treats is Friday.  Everyone always brings the same old/same old.  With diverse backgrounds and regions, any great and yummy ideas?  I'm game to experiment!  (just not too labor intensive, please.)  Thanks, all.

OK Skittles do u bring sweets or appetizers? or food? Alot of thins are s lot of work, not for me either--let's see what I see tonight for something different. I always made fudge for people-no baking, just melting and refridgerate. But that's not enough for one treat. That's an add on.

Well everything is ready here and I'm dressed my GS tole me I look beautiful and no wrinkes u'd never know I was 67, ick--he ruined the whole coompliment--and I told him 2 of the rules never said to a woman no weight or age-the onky time about weight is to say they look thin. Oh so much to teach him about women. So there is food all over the place--I said could I just take the food and stay in my bedroom--but I'll be out aslong as I feel like it -my DD knows how I am and beside they'll all be drinking no one will notice.

I'll no doubt be back later just to complain---why do I fight this so much-well maybe cuz it's not my family hahaha

Buckeys, from the great state of Ohio! So good. Peanut Butter Chocolate Candies. This might be too involved, but I looove them.

    Original recipe makes 5 dozen
    • 1 1/2 cups peanut butter

    • 1 cup butter, softened

    • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

    • 6 cups confectioners' sugar

    • 4 cups semisweet chocolate chips

    Directions

    1. In a large bowl, mix together the peanut butter, butter, vanilla and confectioners' sugar. The dough will look dry. Roll into 1 inch balls and place on a waxed paper-lined cookie sheet.
    2. Press a toothpick into the top of each ball (to be used later as the handle for dipping) and chill in freezer until firm, about 30 minutes.
    3. Melt chocolate chips in a double boiler or in a bowl set over a pan of barely simmering water. Stir frequently until smooth.
    4. Dip frozen peanut butter balls in chocolate holding onto the toothpick. Leave a small portion of peanut butter showing at the top to make them look like Buckeyes. Put back on the cookie sheet and refrigerate until serving.

I had a really hard time trying to copy and paste this recipe from firefox. Ignore those <label> Don't know what happened!!

Camille--If your gs says you look beautiful, you look amazing!  You know kids that young are honest about brutal reality!  Just shine and enjoy!  (and people bring everything from fudge to cheese dip to bbq meatballs.  Sky's the limit.  My imagination has just run flat, so I thought I'd ask advice.  I'm rather in a rut and want out of it.)

Ooo--peanut butter and chocolate!  This, I have to try!  Thanks so much, markat!!  Sounds like something I can do.  Wonder if I can cram in that much sugar in such an itty bitty space, though!  I guess the cup of butter can soak up a lot.  Sounds like a yummy playdough process!  Thanks so much for sharing.  Laughing

Hope I didn't break the board. Skittle the string idea is hilarious. I hope the recipe works out for you. Not exactly BC friendly now is it? I think in the comments some people suggested substitutions for all the sugar.

@whaevah, is deportation having your port taken out? I will be finished chemo in a little over a month and thinking of getting mine out right after that, because it itches. But when I had it put in last month I was even more pooped than from chemo for nearly a week. Did you wait a while after finishing chemo to have it removed, or do it as soon as your treatment was finished? How is the removal affecting your energy level? The infusion nurse told me it's an office visit with just local anaesthetic to take it out, which is wigging me out a little bit, because I had conscious sedation when it was put in. But maybe that will be OK if I cover my eyes and don't look at what they are doing. I remember being glad I didn't see the biopsy needle until afterwards, because it's a whopper!

Markat u'r hysterical LOL so funny for whaevah and all of us to share Thank u for being sble to do that posting. U'r very sharp markat-From day 1 U cracked me up remember. hahaha

That recipe sound wonderful--and u don't have to bake--I always screw up cookies baking I never et them out in the right time. So all my cookies are non-bake this is a little more complicted than usual but I'll talk to mu DD and see.

Curveball I'm sorry u'r port is such a pain--usually the dr.s tell u when a good time is, I think--I still have mine, but I have alot of tests all the time and blood draw and such so I'm very thankful for it and it doesn't bother me at all. So u can tell the Dr. and they might just take it right away???

Oh the party was great last nite everyone had a great time and loved the way My DD made it so nice--not just the decorations but her decorating of the house itself--she loves having wall painted in different colors--so every room has a personality. And now she takes her small pictures and wraps them like pretty presents--so we have presents hanging on the wall too. LOL

The food was great and of course I ate it and this morning I didn't make it to the bathroom--like usual. And after I was tired and went right back enjoying my hermitude and today too.

Curveball, yes that's what deported means. Or Canada has kicked Whaevah out, we aren't really sure...hmmmWink I'm sorry you are having problems with it. I've had mine for over a year now and I often forget about it until I realize I have to put the Emla on it, lol. Mine hurt like a mother after it was put in. It was also a huge pain in the rear during chemo. It would trigger the alarm every time I would move. It wasn't as sensitive after my BMX. I think the surgeon added a couple stitches while she was in there.

Camille, so glad the party was a success. I do that with the large pictures on my walls-wrap them to look like presents. DH thinks I'm nuts, but whatever. Glad you liked the photo for Whaevah :) Sorry about the D...I hate that for you!

curveball..the deport is easy, you do not need sedation, just needles to numb the area. I turned my head LOL. There is nothing to be worried about really. I was a little sore  for 2 days but that is expected considering my port was in for 7 months. Energy level is tough to answer , I just finished a long chemo so I cannot separate the two. My port was never comfortable, always hurt ...everyday. I hated it and there were issues with it. Sealed

As for removal time line, that depends on many factors. My gf kept hers for 2 years, insurance issue and her staging. Many chose to keep it for a year or two as a safety. I asked my Oncologist when it could be removed and she said "let's make an appointment today". I went to a Thoracic Surgeon as I was traumatized by the idiot (RO)who inserted it. This was irregular as well. So just ask your MO on the next visit. Some woman here get deported the  next day after the last infusion.

Good luck and relax, it is simple and straightforward, 20 mins tops. Wink

Today I am purging my closets for donation. Just in time for the cold weather. So off I go, DH will be shocked to see he too was purged. LOL

Hope everyone had a good weekend.  Been busy for a few days.  After my pre-op on Thursday, hubby and I decided to head across the border. Spent the night in the lovely U.S of A and did some shopping.  Really tired yesterday as we got back really late Friday night.  Had to leave hermitude today for that party I really didn't want to go to.  Wasn't awful, but glad we went late.

Trying to go back through and read all the posts.  Quiet all week, then I go away and you all get chatty.

@markat, I wouldn't say I am having problems with the port. It doesn't itch all the time, only every now and then, and it's only a mild itch when it comes. Anyway, even if it itched a lot, that's better than being a human pincushion. After four months of weekly IV's when it worked on the first try all but once, the poor little veins in my forearm just went on strike. The last time before I got the port, it took four tries to get the IV in, and three tries the week before that. Yell After that I had had enough and requested the port.

Curveball, that's good. No one wants constant problems. Hopefully you can have it taken out as soon as you want.

Whaevah, our show was pretty good. I thought about crystals all day, lol...and Ding Dongs. I think they're in a weird transition time when they only have a couple "names" that people know. Hopefully the writing picks up a bit and things get really good. I think the new women have some good potential. (We are talking about Saturday Night Live for those just entering). To be completely honest, I wasn't a fan of Kristen Wig in the beginning, but she totally grew on me. I miss Tina, Amy, and Maya. I watch Maya's show Up All Night with Christina Applegate and Amy Poehler's exhusband, and it's really funny. I think 30 Rock may have jumped the shark this year :(  I love, love love Parks and Rec. And now you guys know my TV addiction, lol.

Bgirl, sounds like you were busy!! Was this a party with drunky McSlut? Thinking about you for tomorrow!

    Hi Teka!

I need to step my game up today. I'm supposed to go to a gathering of friends tonight and I don't wanna. I don't want to drink and they will all be hammered. I'm going to try to go for a couple hours and have 1 glass of wne and then sneak out. Maybe someone will need me to come home early by calling my cell phone at a designated time, "Oh, DH can't find Katie's homework and it's getting so late, guess I'll have to leave".

Markat ... yep ... the one with the crazy girl who thinks I have the hots for her DH.  Yes that is me, so hot with my part fake boob and with BC the last year and my dad dying of cancer this summer, and a 21 yo in crisis, and stupid SEs from treatment, and surgery tomorrow, I have had nothing else to think about besides her husband!!  I think she must have been sober enough to remember what happened last time.  Would not even make eye contact and her and hubby did not say anything or come anywhere near me.  Tried to take the high road and just chat with a few people before dinner, but still felt uncomfortable and awkward.  Maybe I should have had a few, but didn't feel like it.  Came home, crawled in to lounge wear and spent the night on the couch.  Knitting, tv, computer, book ... all so much easier to get along with.  Already thinking of excuses for next time.  Had a conversation with DH about what had happened.  He is a guy, so he just thinks it is stupid ... has no doubts that it could remotely be true.  Figured it was time to clue him in before we went.

Good luck with your event ... hope it goes better than mine ... I would call you ... I could pretend to be some crazy friend in crisis who is having surgery tomorrow... or maybe that is too close to the truth.

Cami ... hope you are feeling well today.  Thinking of you.

Slept crapy so tired today, brain wouldn't turn off so I then start obsessing about stupid stuff and people ... and then hate myself for wasting my time.  Sorry for the rant, still in bad mood from yesterday.

Cami ... thanks, sounds like your GS is what is going to get you through the holiday season.  More vitys or something.  Nice that you have family around you.

I was trying to refocus yesterday in my mind .. hate being negative.  So I tried to think of a couple of good things that happened yesterday.  1) at this awful party for me ... the kids had a great time seeing Santa Claus. 2) my youngest DD called, some of the life lessons I have given her seem to have sunk in ... on her residence floor at university they get the name of a family to help.... when she was home a couple of weeks ago she took some baking stuff back with her ... she signed out the kitchen and organized some girls to bake cookies .... they made $50 on some home-made goodies to use to help their family.  I am so proud of her.  So I guess yesterday wasn't all bad.

oooh I just had such a sneaky devious idea for those of you who want to get a phone call to get out of a party you don't want to be at. What if you sneak into the back bedroom and call your own cell phone on your host's landline? Your phone rings, you answer it, listen in silence for a minute, and then hang up your cell and say, "sorry, got to go", grab your coat & hat and out the door. No explanations, just bye-bye.
