Lori 1020... missed your original post. Hope you're ok. The first steps are usually the shaky ones. Know you're in a safe nest, here among gentle hermits. Best wishes to you as you decide your direction.

Markat - a good death is often very under rated and it sounds like the hospital are being kind to your Mum and not subjecting her to horrible treatments that may only create a miserable death. Sorry if I am being blunt but head fuzzy adn cannot think delicately at mo, sorry....xxx

Got through the MRI okay yesterday and spent the rest of the afternoon feeling a bit loopy and disconnected. I really hate having to take drugs to get through the MRIs but it's preferable to getting panicky at the confinement.
Just been spending most of my time doing my normal stuff - playing games on the computer, going to work, hanging out with my boyfriend, talking to the kitties.

Hi hermits- just checking in and just want to say for now, Markat, I am so sorry about your mom. This is terrible news for you and your family. Helping her to be comfortable is most important. Prayers coming your way for your mom and you and all those around you.
More soon, love to all the hermits.

Jinkala glad thats over with for u--Yea they are confining most people (me too) don't like that feeling -. I had one about a month ago and when they say ok we're done relief....
Markat how are u and u'r mom doing today?

Teka... I agree completely. We wonder and hope for the best. I think we all take poof! a bit more cautiously since our bc earthquakes make taking things for granted impossible.
Hugs to all.
Camille--you doing ok?
Love to each.

Hi ladies- midweek already. The temps are cold here at night, in the 20s, but it is so warm and sunny here at the end of the day. Going to sit on my patio for a bit. I bought some more plants on the way home but will keep them protected until they go in this weekend. We are supposed to be past frost potential, but we are still get cold snaps here.
I went to the eye doctor today for my annual check up. I included updates about my health including the BC and asked about the AI and cataracts. I have heard from a few they ended up with cataracts, hard to know if the meds cause it or it comes with age. My dad had cataracts at the end in his 70s. My sister has one now in her 60s, so I figure I have the potential with them running in the family. I just wanted it on the chart so he would check that each year. Then he tried to sell me eye drops for latisse lashes. I said I have no interest in long eye lashes.
Blondie- I hope you are doing okay with chemo.
Chocolate- I am sorry you are overwhelmed, we all know it well. We are here if you want to talk about anything.Curveball- I hope your virus is getting better?
Cami- did you get any resolution to your skin issues? I felt the same way going to the eye doc today. Even the well care visits seem like a huge deal now. And I hope you don't have the bad flooding so many are having in the midwest.
Skittle- happy belated Earth Day! I have always been a huge environmentalist. Used to clean up haz waste sites for my work years ago. I am still a recycling freak.
Markat- I am thinking of you and your family. I know you are all taking in the latest news and it is very hard for you all right now.
Teka- yes, I too wonder about the folks who disappear. Like Shambles, who was here with us when I first joined.
And to all the other hermits, I hope your week is being kind to you.

@jazzygirl, thanks for asking. I feel a lot better but my ears are still pretty plugged up. I may make an app't with my regular doctor if they don't unplug soon. I also went to the dentist today and got my teeth cleaned. My last appointment was while I was doing chemo so they only gave them a very light going over and as a result they were really grungy. It feels so much better to have nice clean teeth again!
AND tomorrow is my exit interview, after that I'm on vacation until officially retiring next Wednesday (not that I'm counting or anything). And then I will have no more excuses for shilly-shallying around on that house!!

Curveball- glad you are feeling better and also have nice clean teeth!
Good luck with that exit interview tomorrow. You are almost to your retirement!
0 -
@Jazzygirl, I am just not worried about the exit interview. After all, what can they do--fire me??
0 -
Curveball- Nope, they can't fire you! I LOVE exit interviews myself. I have had several when I have left jobs by choice, one when my group was eliminated at one job. Opportunity to share some things that need to be said. I hope it all goes well.
Insomiac tonight.

@jazzy, I've never had one before. I work for local government and have been employed there for 28 years. None of my previous jobs ever had a formal exit interview. So I'm a little nervous (fear of the unknown) but not anxious about the outcome. I need to find a picture of Porky Pig to tape to my computer. Th-th-th-th-th-at's all, folks!

thanks Jazzy....it is ok so far...feeel better.
retirement rocks....

Hi everyone--I hope everyone is feeling OK today--I know it's day to day.
I never had an exit interview either curveball, I had a government job too and all I did was send my papers to Springfield and retire. So u should say anything u want--I know I would have, that's probably why I just sent down the paperwork--they all knew me. Wait today is the interview right? Can't wait to hear about it.
Maybe going out tonite , I always say maybe but I'll try it's Joey's play nite and he has words to say in this long boring play--it is to me anyway. I'll catch u guys later and feel good please.

hi everyone,
i probably am not going to be able to catch up with all the posts. thank you for the warm welcome and kind thoughts--this is definitely a supportive group:)
i had an overnight sleep study done and it appears that i may need oxygen at night. if it helps me have more energy during the day, i'm all for it! it couldnt hurt to have a little more oxygen in my brain:)
Had my onc. appt today--i started faslodex on april 9th. i was on afinitor prior to that but was experiencing lung issues and shortness of breath so we moved to Faslodex to be n the safe side--though have not completely abandoned the idea of resuming afinitor if it proves to be beneficial. My tumor marker went up about 30 points in two weeks since being on Faslodex--and my estrogen spiked--though onc said it takes a while for Faslodex to kick in so we'll wait about 6-8 weeks to see if it's effective... will get my estorgen checked in a few days and if it goes back down, I'll stay on the Aromasin/ Faslodex combo--if it doesnt, will move to Arimidex/Faslodex. Hoping for NED for all of us!
Awaiting the call from thoracic surgeon about lung surgery to re-expand my lung-he said my lung condition is complicated and he wanted to discuss it firther with with his colleagues before offering surgical suggestions--my other option is to live with it the best i can. i prefer the latter:)
markat--wishing the best for you and your mother and loved ones. I went through a similar experience with my mother last year. Much love to all of you.
I notice there are some posts for lori--love to you, lori! sorry, I've been out of the lopp--having just joined the 'hermits'.
jinkala, hope all goes well for you! yes, confinement gets me a little stir-crazy too. sometimes i close my eyes to open the space--and sometimes i need a little chill pill--and i just take a nap--i hear ya!:)
blondie--take care--i hope you feel better soon!
hi jazzy! enjoy your sunny days--we still get chilly nights here too. waiting for the snow to melt.
hi curveball, a happy retirement to you! enjoy! also thank you for reminding me that i need a good teeth cleaning as well! got the little post card in the mail about a week ago from my dentist's office. someone has their work cut out for them lol
cami, thanks for the fun pics. comic relief is always welcome:) enjoy your night!
best wishes to all
love and carpe diem:)

Hi everyone
Chocolate u'd better stay with this thread cuz I like typing u'r name---Yummy--I am sorry u've got all thes problems tho---Do u have sleep apnea or low oxigen? I'm not sure there is much difference IDK. U've got a lot going on so of course right now it's hard to keep up on any thread. I try my best but sometimes U fall back too and I'm retired.
I hope everyone is doing all right tonite----I have to be at the hospital at 7:45 so I will be missing my COFFEE--I'll be a real bitch but I figured after I can treat myself to Starbucks---So I have tat to look forward to.I've had a busy week, for me and I don't like it one bit. I love being alone (with Joey, too) and I'm used to it so for me anytime I have to take showers all the time it means I'm busy. LOL That's terrible

Hi everyone! Hugs to all! The docs decided to go ahead and try a small amount of chemo for her liver and brain radiation. She's doing pretty good. We should find out if she can transition back home, to my house, or a facility until she regains some strength or if she needs continued care.
It's been a long week! Sorry I haven't kept up with everyone. I've been thinking of you all! Camille big hug for tomorrow!!0 -
Markat we don't expect to to visit like u used to--this is a rough time for u, but like now if can just keep us in the loop about u'r Mom we'd all like that. (((HUGS)))

Thanks Camille! Loved seeing the pics. I've been jumping online and reading when I can. I took a nap tonight (stupid) so I'll probably stay up too late! I feel for you about the coffee! One perk of the hospital is that they have a wonderful coffee shop with my favorite raspberry latte
Chocolate sending you hugs! Thank you!
Blondie hope you're feeling okay after treatment.
Mom gets decadron and she was complaining about it. She said, now I know why you hated this stuff lol!0 -
