Ok all, here is the shirt that I made for Sas-Schatzi, pending her approval of course.

    http://snarkyts.onlineshirtstores.com/shop/view_product/I_mourn?c=560358&ctype=0&n=3134698&o=0

Because it is printed on both sides, it costs more. If cost is an issue I suggest just having one side printed.

I don't physically have the shirts here or make them myself. The printing and mailing of shirts is completely automated. I just do the design on the computer and when someone (or me) orders a shirt, it gets printed and mailed from the some place in Kansas. I can make any design changes and edits before it is finalized. You can also do this yourself using the "customize" link.

If you like a shirt as it is, you just order your color and size and it magically gets printed and shipped to you. I'm sure there are lots of other shirt websites like CafePress and Zazzle where you can do the same thing yourself if you are so inclined. It's just a hobby for me, and I will give the profits of these shirts to BCO since we are on it all the time!!

I actaully posted on FB to ask friends and family to be aware of where their $$ go when they donate, and also reminded them that some of us (not all of us - there are still many BC survivors who consider themselves "sistas in pink") just don't like pink anymore. I have had several VERY SUPPORTIVE responses from friends who have asked how to make their contributions count, and one very dear friend who said "I will try!" - he is someone I have known since grade school, small-town resident, kind and generous, but also just not aware, and probably thought he was honoring me by purchasing pink stuff. He sent a very sweet note saying "I'll try!"

I didn't TAKE one for the team, I LOST 2!!!!!!

    How about:

I LOST TWO FOR THE TEAM

             FOCTOBER

Someone previously on BCO had: Breast cancer is a disease and not a marketing tool. Think before you pink!!! She printed it out on labels and when she saw a display in a store she put the label on the item!! Brilliant!! No one making minimum wage is going to go around and peel off all those labels....hehehehheheheheh

ducky, you can get the labels at Walmart even!! But you do need them printed by someone. Just use address labels.

    Beeatch welcome.

Ok, Sassy, your shirt is updated

Sorry I had a concert tonight after work and just made it onto the computer about 20 minutes ago.

I'm thinking of putting the Komen pie chart on a shirt! What do you think? I also like Barbe's idea a lot.

I might have to make some stickers to put on that pepper spray!

About that Komen pie chart... from memory,  9% walk for the cure and other fund raising expenses plus 10% admin expenses comes to 19%, the same amount they are putting into research. And don't even mention that massive amount spent on "education", 37%.  Unbelievable!

If I was likely to turn up at BC events I'd want one of the t-shirts, but it's unlikely.  I do really enjoy reading this thread and am thinking of putting some slogans or information on Facebook as that seems more likely to get people's attention.  Would it cause problems to put the pie chart on Facebook?  To me, that's the crux of the problem.

ETA.  Shells, our posts crossed.  Glad someone else thinks the Komen chart needs to be publicised.

If you read the pg 16 This link that specialK put in  goes to KomenWatch at the end it says that the informatiom may be used as long as the citation to Komen watch as used. Refer to special K original link. I'll try to bring it forward.

The importance is thIS person that puts this blog together IS GIVING PERMISSION FOR HER INFO TO BE USED

jOY YOU COULD PUT THE PIE CHART ON A TEE, jUST ADD HER CITATION :) SASSY

SPECIALk LINK TO kOMENWATCH FROM  PAGE 14

I was scheduled for a lumpectomy but chose bilateral mastectomy after talking to my oncologist.  That conversation gave me an ephiphany.  If I remove the breast with cancer and the one without, I took a radiation oncologist, an oncology practice and a pharmaceutical company off my payroll.  People thought I was taking a drastic measure but I didn't want to be burned and have side effects from drugs.  I wanted to move on with my life.  I was lucky in the fact that the tumor was small and had not gotten to the nodes.  I hate the term cancer survivor and refuse to use it.  And, I am very much against pink and the pink ribbon.  Too much money has been raised and we really aren't any closer to a "cure."  We need to find a preventive vaccine as there is way too much profit in cleaning up the aftermath of being diagnosed with cancer.  Just my thoughts ladies.

I love the slogans.  They all work for me!  I would buy one of each.

shells--please keep example, but can you do an example with pink in pinktober and rest in white. And another in all white lettering. I have a rationale for each.  Has to do with education. and what would make the bbiggest statement teaching wise. Thanks sheila

I still like "I'm Not Cured I'm a Walking Pharmacuetical Experiment."

Kathindc - I still say I'm a cancer exister not a survivor. I will need a lot more time under my belt before I go there.

As sas has said - if you are getting  a shirt order it! September is upon us already!  Just a thought - consider your audience carefully - where are you going to wear this shirt, and who will be reading it?  I think everyone should create their individual shirt based on their own passionate message.  Consider that too much pink and it is just another BC shirt, not enough pink and nobody will realize it is about BC, too much info and people will stop reading, too inside of a saying and non-BC people won't get it.

I'm thinking about a shirt with a pink ribbon that says:

I'll know I'm a BC survivor when something else kills me.
