    Wonderful Linda!!!!!

Garden this would be right up Katie Couric's meat & potatoes kind of piece!

I don't watch him often but what about Dr. Oz.  Just a suggestion.  Maybe the View????  I don't watch much TV so I'm not sure who is on much anymore.

    Shells thanks a bunch!

For the pink shirt I was given... I don't even look good in pink... so I let my 3 year -old use it for dress-up.

However, the only friend that actually "pinks" me in email forwards is living with MS. So from my point of view, if it makes her feel more connected, she gets a free ride. (I don't send them on, but from her they don't make me mad.)

The only pink I received was a dozen roses (actually mauve) from a niece. The family was told no pink. I only told family and closest friends, so am not dealing with most of the questions others receive.

linda - god lord ----- you have made a case----but i'm the orignator of the two words--------oh shit what if they ask me stuff LOL  We can go back to the night. Someone was unhappy and I said we need a  revoultion . All happened after that    isn't just fun to create something and then others say hey hell yes

story .. paramedic students that woud say I would do  this ect, my response was "do it" early 80's

    rest is hx,

The arm things that so many athlets wear, I tried to patent for a different reason. But saw many different applications for use. My Patent Attorney was very excited that it had be patented 14 monthe before. It took me along time to understand that. From his point of view it was Now, My point of view ---to late . All is relative to point of view

     will edit when rested

Thank you to SandPiper or whoever thought of this list.  Brilliant idea - lets do it!

Top 10 reasons to hate Pink Ribbons and the Pinkwashing of Breast Cancer

    10. Because Pink Ribbon Care Bears are stupid

    9.   Because a Pink-ribbon Hello Kitty Microwave oven at Target does NOTHING to cure breast cancer and microwave food isn't on my anti-cancer diet

    8.  Because Komen Foundation and their slick marketing of our disease has LOST the race for the cure.

    7. Because those of us who have cancer are WELL AWARE we have it.  We don't need your awareness.  We need better treatments, better science, and better technology.

    6.  Because Mastectomy is breast amputation and it is still the main treatment for breast cancer.

Heh ........what barb garden & nat wrote. My sentiments exactly.

    5. Because its easier for people to hide behind the pink curtain, than face the actual people & their struggles with this disease.

    4. I'd rather someone keep me close to their heart, not their lapels.

NatKat, There isn't really a pink ribbon Hello Kitty microwave at Target is there? Is it with the toys or the kitchen appliances? I'm hoping you just dreamed up such a horrid thing.

No, the pink microwave is for real - but it is not for BC awareness.

SICK!    I saw an eyelash curler!  "Curl your lashes in hopes of CURE!!!"  Pa-leazzzzz!

    My words not the slogan!

  • barbe1958
    barbe1958 Member Posts: 7,605

Julz, I wonder if that was marketed for the gals who've lost their lashes with chemo!!! Who makes up this shit??? Do they THINK about what WE feel like seeing it all???? How people think it's all for US?????

  • julz4
    julz4 Member Posts: 1,373

Yeah....I saw napkins in Wal-Mart the other day on an end display in the "HARDWARE" section??????   Whats with that?  As if we could all just wipe the beast from our hands, minds, & body's!  Who wants a napkin to be a constant reminder every time we eat?  Let alone WHO would go looking in the HARDWARE section for it!  "Oh yes men lets have dainty luncheon in honor of our scarred wifes & girfriends"!  RIGHT.....Komen get a CLUE....oh thats right they are thinking of the CHA CHING!!!!

As if we want to spend every waking moment surrounded by pink....awareness....Toasters & Mixers & Napkins OH MY!  From the top of my head to the tips of my eye lashes....now wipe away wipe away all my pink pastry crumbs! Next the tidy bowl man is gonna go PINK!!!

We don't have to be surrounded by it.....we already are....our bodies do enough reminding already!

Digressing a bit from the top 10 list here....but THAT could be a T-shirt design!  (Shells - We should get together and talk!)

Since my surgery coincides with the beginning of the commercialized month we all love, I decided to plan a t-shirt line to help redirect stupid.  Any quote suggestions are welcome!  I'm already shopping on-line T-shirt design shops!

Some initial slogans I'm liking are:

"As a matter of fact, these ARE mine, bought and paid for.  My old ones were trying to KILL me"

    "F#$% Awareness, FIND A CURE!"

"If you need to ask, DON'T"

Various colors planned for.  No pink.

    Suggestions welcome, all!

Audrey, Everyone recognizes Komen pink.  The F#$% Awareness slogan might just be effective on a really revolting shade of pink.

Maybe a map of the US, all in pink with

    We're Aware

    Now Fund Research

Chabba.....dayglo Pink?  Or Black with neon pink letters?

  • chabba
    chabba Member Posts: 3,600

black with either day-glo or neon.  A shirt in that bright a color might be a bit much---of course it could make some of us who have been on hormonal treatment for a couple of years look like walking corpses!

SAS, did not mean to imply I had the Pinktober Revolution idea - just the verbose prose. I absolutely acknowledge you as the "Pinktober Revolutionary" that you are! Thank goodness!

SpecialK, glad to see you here, and love the weaponry. I have been considering getting my carry permit just for fun - one of those life things I haven't done yet. But I have my eye on something that runs a little more to basic black.... LOL .... Maybe Mini1 will join me!

Veggy, that wine is just SO VERY WRONG!!!!

Best wishes to all the rest of you Revolutinaries tonight!

Just a random thought but through my experience as non Bc & now having applied to bc university........everyone clumps this disease into one mold or cookie cutter. Never realizing there are an array of cancers that fall under this one grouping people place us . with as many varied treatments. Cant tell you how many asked me when I was starting chemo......randomness........must be the forbidden veal chop I had for dinner. ;)

These products are just wrong on so many levels. I mean if you like pink than go for it, but really, napkins, wine, blenders. Like we are aren't aware of this stupid disease. I mean really, we all know or knew at least one person with BC before our diagnosis'. I still say pink ribbons have gone the way of car alarms - a good idea at the onset, but now so common place that know one pays them any attention and when they do it's in annoyance not concern. All pink ribbons are doing now is making people complacent instead of pissed off as they should be.

ok one morething before i stop for night, working that is.  I was gifted the pink pen, the fight like a girl pen.  There are four changes when you click it

    Fight with love and courage

with the power of love and hope

    faith and sisterhood we unite

    to encourage and live fully.

I know it is so sentimental, but I HATE THIS PEN, it makes me want to puke.

under the pocket clip there is the greetingpen.com and a U.S patent #

It's going in the garbage tonight, even though my daughter thought that from all the pens in the box that she could choose from, I would like this one best because of all my friends in bco.   But it only reminds me of FOCTOBER and pink commercialism instead of cures and reasonable treatments.
