Hello to all! Weighing in on a couple of recent posts:

An oopherectomy may not cause enough estrogen depletion. I had one after first recurrence and it didn't prevent third occurrence. (note: I didn't do radiation after 1st round nor did i take Tamoxifen after recurrence, despite oncologists' recommendations.)

A MX doesnt always get all the cancerous tissue My 2nd occurrence was a lump right below my MX scar. I was glad I didn't get reconstruction as I wouldn't have found the new lump early on.

I just signed onto this post and greatly appreciate the support and information for natural methods.

I don't understand why some people are "pushing" or supporting the drugs (on this thread), I can't take them.  We all know what the MOs and drug manufacturers say about the drugs (we don't need to hear it again); If you wish to share the glories of AIs or Tamox, it seems you should be on that thread.

Thank you for the information and support; I plan on finding some DIM and giving that a try.

I for one have tried all the drugs. I was finally told by my Onc. to stop them all. He gave me no suggestions on what to do other than exercise. I am so grateful for all the helpful info I get here.

Well Day, given your links I'm taking all the right supplements!

And I agree Kira, however, when I suggested that the subject stay focused on natural alternatives instead of Tamox, I was told that I was not being open-minded and that we should discuss everything. If I wanted to discuss everything, I would be on those threads not an all natural one, tyvm. But hey, that's just me.

Kira, that is really annoying concerning your onc. I can imagine my own not being much better in that situation. Exercise is probably the number 1 action you can take. Keeping a healthy to low weight is another. A recent study (sorry, don't have a link) reported distinct advantage from eating a healthy diet high in fruits and veggies. Apparently estrogen can also be "soaked up" by fiber, so it seems that getting lots of fiber is probably a good idea.

I thinkit's a shame when they are either unwilling or unable to help those of us who just have to stop the meds due to allergies. For heavens sake I broke out in eczema over my entire body. Each time the Dr. had to give me a steroidal shot to counter the effects of the drug along with very strong allergy meds for 2 weeks. From what I have learned from this thread DIM along with grape seed extract is very useful. These are 2 I use daily.

well, it looks like dim is not for me due to my being on a blood thinner.  i eat broccoli three times a week and also eat brussels sprouts, so that should help though--

Yes dogs it looks like DIM is a blood thinner on it's own. What about grape seed extract?

Day, Does DIM work as well as the raw vegetables? My DH has crones, so his vegetables need to be well cooked. We worry about cancer with him as well. He deals with invasive skin cancer.

I don't eat raw broccoli because of the intestinal pain and gas it gives me.  Do the broccoli sprouts do the same thing?  If I just blanch or lightly steam the broccoli it digests much easier.

The grape seed oil sounds very easy to incorporate. Thanks Day.

I wonder if DIM can work as well as eating the actual veggies. It seems the fiber part of the veggies is crucial to the benefit. Why eat grape seed oil? I use it for frying but didn't know it had any cancer benefits.

Day.....just lurking here, but when you mentioned coconut oil/butter....I have to say

I cook with it, bake with it, use it as a moisturizer for my body and hair, practically

bathe in the stuff. ....As far as raw veggies go...my husband makes me up a bag of raw veggies to take to work daily.....broccoli, red cabbage, kale, carrots, celery, ginger etc.

Kira, I completely agree. Also, even for those of us who are able to take the drugs, it would be nice if the doctors were a bit more up on things like diet and supplements.

I have been making smoothies with kale (cruciferous) and asparagus in order to get a good portion of these veggies. I add half an apple, some berries, chia seeds. I recently read the thread about whey protein and how good it is, so I started adding that to the smoothies and I have to say it made all the difference in the world! They taste great now and I have upped the amt of veggies in the smoothies. Just wanted to suggest this to you girls who eat your veggies. I use the Nutribullet.
