Purple, my Divas with the diamonds appears to fit absolutely perfectly when I put it on--all the way to the axilla, but no bunching up.  But when I have been moving the arm a lot, as in exercise times, after a short while, the very edge of the sleeve folds over by about a half inch, under the axilla and to a less extent up and around the top of my arm.  Perhaps I'll order a non-diamonds version from Brightlife, because I know they will allow a return if the non-diamond one behaves the same way.

Hmmm.... well, I will say the NON DB on me has a tendency to slide.  You now have me wondering about my DB that bunches.  I just thought it was because the sleeve might be too long.

Order  where you will, but you may want to email Josh and go directly through Divas. I have had ez returns with him if necessary.  Also- check prices, for sure.

It's a shame about the black Farrow gloves.  One I bought awhile back in small is my favorite glove.  When I went to get another last week, I couldn't even get the small glove on my non-LE hand!  I exchanged for a medium and that is even more snug then my original small.  Yet my new small beige fits perfectly.  I'm going to have to try stretching this medium out with some lipstick tubes and a jar.

As for the LympheDivas, unfortunately they roll on me from the beginning.  I can't get them to lay flat at all.  I'm a medium and I even tried a large, with no success.  I really need the max top like Juzo offers.  Medium Max is a perfect fit. Or maybe it's the way the Juzo top is constructed, I have never had that roll, even in a non-max top.  I also have a Medi sleeve with a similar sillicone top, it's not a max, but it doesn't roll either.

I've been wearing some of my LympheDiva gauntlets with a beige sleeve or a colored Juzo Dream Sleeve, and it's a cute combo. So I still get some of the cute patterns.

    That does sound cute, Vic!

it's the way the Juzo top is constructed,

speaking of the way Juzo is constructed, I still can stop lookinmg at their tie dye sleeve !  The I discovered their Dream sleeves all have  a little 'wristband', INCL. the tie dye. The wrist and hand are my problem areas ... Jusos are not for me . Surprised

My LympheDivas did the same thing at the top with the DB.  That's one of the things I did mention to Josh in the PM - that the short would not have worked and in order for me to have the top at the right place on my arm, it bunched and rolled, especially with exercise, under the arm. I did like them when I could wear them.

Purple - you might need to go to a custom-made in the Juzo's, I couldn't wear off the shelf! She measured inside, outside, top to bottom, bottom to top, pit (excuse me axilla) to wrist, shoulder to wrist, and everywhere else - I guess that's why it fits so well.

KS1 - Someone mentioned putting talcum powder, and keeping your arm moisturized, so I started doing that, especially the baby powder, it doesn't get pinchy as often.  Someone mentioned some kind of glide stuff you could put on your arm that would help, but I can't remember what it's called, also my fitter mentioned something they sell, but I keep forgetting to ask her - my stupid chemo brain only remember when it's a problem, and right then it's not convenient to call her and ask.  I like the idea of the dart - I'll ask her about that next time.

Linda, I use a glide lotion it's called Alps Fitting lotion.  I got mine from HighTideHealth.com.  The way my morning routine works out, the lotion I have applied to my arm has not yet sunk in.  So in order to get my sleeve on I use a slippie, but even the slippie will stick to a lotioned arm, so I use just the slightest touch of the Alps lotion.  Works great.

Purple, the end "band" on my Juzo is not so much a band, as a change in the knitting style.  It's not double or anything as it appears.  Dream sleeves are the ultimate in soft. I am so happy I found them.  Not to mention the beige being such a smooth flat knit that matches my skintone nicely.  With a contrasting guantlet my arm looks bare. Well bare-ish.  Smile

But Linda , wouldnt the custom fit still have that band at the wrist ?

I hear you Victoria, but I am STILL concerned it would bother me and IF SO, as I told Juzo, what can I do with it - give it to my sister ?  Not like a sweater , after all ! Surprised

I'm not sure how that works purple - but my custom made products are totally different than any others I've gotten.  My first non-custom made had the band at the wrist, my only custom-made two piece was an Elvarex by Jobst, it did not have a band at the wrist, and my Juzo custom mades have all been one piece - pit to pinky. Looking on juzousa.com website, it looks like the Dream sleeve does have the band at the wrist, but the Expert and the strong do not have the band - so.....???

    Purple32,

Hi, I have had a pair of sleeves and gauntlets.  Both were Juzo.  In the beginning I was instructed to hand wash them in cold water with baby detergent and to air dry them.  This was great when I only needed them to fly.  When I needed to use them daily at the gym it was kind of a hassle, but do-able.  As the sleeves get older they start to give a little and to combat that my fitter instructed me to wash them in the washing machine with regular detergent in warm water and to toss them in the dryer on a low setting.  The pair I had is just about done because it has too much give now at the wrist where the sleeve meets the gauntlet.  I can now treat them like regular clothes and dry them on regular heat.  They aren't perfect but they are better than nothing until I get my new one piece sleeve and gauntlet.  I can't remember the brand but if I end up liking them I will post it.  My insurance company will not cover any ready made compression garments.  They have to be custom made to be cover.  They also have to be 20-30 mm HG or greater.  I have yet to find out percentage they will cover on custom compression garment because I need to meet my deductible again and to have specific codes before I can approach them.  I need compression garments for the axililary and chest as well. Some of the compression garments for truncal lymphedema are seriously expensive.  I also haven't found one that fits me well so in the meantime I have been using under armor.  Again, not a perfect solution but better than nothing when I am experiencing truncal lymphedema.  Good luck with your fact finding; I think the information will be relevent to a lot of us!

Hi Purple, I wear a custom Juzo soft sleeve (class 1).  As someone else said, it doesn't have a band.  Rather, at the wrist, the fabric is knitted differently.  I was told by a fitter that this special knit makes the wrist less compressive, so there isn't as much of an issue with double compression where the end of the sleeve overlaps the end of a glove.  I believe that the Juzo dream sleeve is identical to the soft sleeve, just in more colors.  KS1

KS1, you asked what is Juzo varin. I order Varin 3512 from brightlifedirect but when I went onto Juzousa.com and searched, the closest product was Juzo dynamic soft-in 3512. I wonder if brightlife is going by the old name. Varin is very durable, I machine wash it and usually hang dry but you can put it on a low setting in the dryer. Varin sleeves are the ones I use the most. Comes in black to.

When I first started wearing sleeves even the Dreamsleeve was too rough in the elbow for me. Slowly over the last two years I can now wear pretty much anything as long as it doesn't slip because then I get elbow grind. I would say I have super sensitive inner elbows. You can get a roll on for your inner elbows that runners use. It is anti chafe. This is what I used the first year. I emailed the company and they said it was fine for compression garment material. It is called BodyGlide anti chafe original formula.

Sheesh this sleeve stuff is really trial and error. ( on my buck too!)

this special knit makes the wrist less compressive,

    LESS compressive ?!

That woke me up- thanks for the info, KS1.
    I love this thread!

    Linda

I was looking for tie dye and colors- not sure on that with Expert .

Purple, I just looked closely at my Juzo Dreamsleeve and I see the same thing that KS1 noted: the weave at the wrist end of the sleeve differs from the weave of the rest of the sleeve (for about 1"), and sure enough, when I stretch it, it is less compressive than the body of the sleeve.  I know naught of gloves, but my Juzo gauntlet that goes with the Dreamsleeve seems to be looser at the wrist, but just by a hair. I have the impression that my hand is well compressed, and between the loose-knit sleeve band and the slight 'give' to the wrist of the gauntlet, there is not double compression to the wrist.  For what it's worth!  KS1, I had not looked that closely before, and I'm glad you pointed out the different knit portion of the sleeve.

Here is a pic of the inside sleeve end of my Juzo Dream Sleeves.  One mauve and one violet.  In the background is the right side out Juzo soft in beige and underneath is the Juzo Varin.

Just a thought here on Victorias colors. Looks like you love the purple/pink color family. If your sleeves are not die fast and new I bet you could get the beige sleeve looking pink colored if you warm water washed it with the darker sleeves. Or put it with some other purple cloths so the die would run into it. For that matter why wouldn't colored dye work. Are the colored sleeves more money cause this could be money saving if so.

I did this with my white/dophin tie dye with black clothes in lukewarm water and it came out grey instead of white which I liked better. It has stayed grey now.

Just a quirky idea that popped into my head.

Hugz, strangely enough they run the same price.  The Varin is less expensive but it's not as comfortable.  I guess we are on the same wavelength because I have thought of just getting a white sleeve and dying it.  I may have to later on if the purple (violet) goes away.  I ADORE this color and it's seasonal.  Drat!  Now that I am past my personal learning curve, colors and patterns aside, I think I would be happy with just 2 black, 2 beige and 2 purple.

I found that my dreamsleeve that I once had stretched out pretty fast(then binding in elbow) and that is why I tend to stick to the IRON MAIDEN varin!

Your color choice sounds like a plan. Nice to know that the  dream sleeve colors are not more money. I forgot about that.

LindaKR:  Is there much of a difference in cost between the ready made and the custom made?  Can you give me a ball park on what it cost and how long it took to get custom made sleeves?

    Thanks!

Purple - can't get the expert in tie dye (sad sad sad), I'm not sure you can get any custom made in tie dye, but they are several colors.

ibahammer - I don't know the pricing on off the shelf, and I'll have to look up the prices on my insurance website for the custom made- I'd met my deductible and out of pocket the 3 times that I've ordered, so don't really pay attention to that - I know they are pretty expensive though.  I'll be on Medicare starting next month (I'm on SSDI), but even my supplement won't pay for compression garments, haven't asked about custom made ones though, maybe I'll ask.  I'll check my insurance and get back to you on the cost.

ibahammer - the new sleeves haven't been billed to my insurance yet I guess - because there is no sign of them on there - I'll try to remember to post it when I comes through.  I know originally I had some off the shelf, crappy, Juzo things that cost about $120, then I ordered from Lymphedivas and got their of the shelf on sale, about $150 for the set.  I think that the the one piece custom fit that I got last year were closer to $400, but it was a different insurance and don't know where I put the info.  The Jovipak sleeve was something like $800 - thank God I haven't had to pay for any of these out of pocket yet.  But then I have been paying close to $800 a month for my insurance.  So even though medicare doesn't pay, the difference between what I'll be paying for insurance and what I pay now + deductibles, copays, etc... is close to $700 per month, so I guess I can't complain.

    Re:  LIGHTEST COLOR SLEEVE?

    Hi all!
I was hunting around on the web yesteday , and I could have sworn I was on brightlifedirect, but the surf may well have taken me out to sea.  Not sure anymore.  ANYWAY, I saw  someplace where a brand name sleeve was featured in a  new  very very light skin tone  , designed to look ' the most natural'.  I've been hunting for awhile now and cannot find it .

    Any ideas at all ?

I am thinking I might like one that ' blends in a  bit more' on certain occassions.

    THX for any advice .

Purple, seems to me I saw it too and it was a Jobst.  I don't have any of theirs, but I'm interested in the low compression one, also they claim low wrist compression.

My first sleeve was a Jobst, and now I'm using Juzos. The Jobst had a softer feel, but it sure did run and pill at the least little encounter with anything rough.   The Juzos and my Lymphedivas look better after a few months than my Jobst looked after a week or two.  For what it's worth.

I have a Jobst. Haven't had any of the problems you mention Carol, but do have issues with the wrist. My hand sElls unless I pit a pad inside my glove. My LE t recommends Jobst over others for me at least. I like the look of the Juno in the picture though.
