Ireland-Love that sentiment and how true.  Where did you get it?  Reading stuff like that gets me a little emotional.  But I find it inspirational as well.

Chrisrenee-thinking of you and your daughter.  Hope she heals fast!

Shianne-how did DS do at the golf?  And did his cardiac problem get treated?  DD is looking great and feeling better.  Meds are now doing their job once the dose was corrected.  Whew!

Marian, Liefie, and everyone else...have a pleasant eveningSmile

Believe777, I'm watching The American Baking Competition as we speak, and I'm wondering why you are not baking there? With all your experience they will have nothing on you, and some of those competitors really don't know what they're doing - lol.

Thanks soooo much for the HUGS!  I could only take the Tamoxifen for 6 days and the SE's were so bad that I had to stop taking it.  Did the chemo instead and now had my 1st days of RADS which was not too bad.  1 down 14 to go!  Hope everyone has a good night.  I am hitting the bed very early.   Peace!

Chrisrenee - poor Taylor! How did that happen? Can they put a cast on a collar bone? Gentle hugs, going your way!!!

Shianne and Websister - so sorry about the se's. Shianne - have you tried Metamucil?. My husband sweats by it. I take a probiotic but only when I remember. My teeth are my worst side effect for the time being. Do you wonder if Angelina is having the same issues? I wonder if she skipped the pills by acting early? Talking to your Doctor is the best advise. There must be something out there to help. Prayers for relief being sent your way! Fuck BC!!!!

Liefie - you are the 2nd person to tell me about the baking show. I hope I can find it on TV tonight. I didn't start baking until after I retired last August. Not sure how good I am but I don't seem to ever get complaints. Who doesn't like cookies?!?

I've been out all day. Planning what my Mother will wear at her 80th birthday photo session and her party. In between that, talking to party planners about where to have the party. I thought our house was perfect, no one agreed! We are having brunch this weekend at one place and another lunch on Friday with an event planner at the Hilton. We have a friend at the Hilton so that's quickly moving up the list. I like small get togethers - so out of my league. I'm thinking this is good training for her 90th party. My husband is pressing me to pick a spot. My Mom says surprise her! She doesn't want 80 on anything and wants a 20's theme. She was born in '33 but who celebrates the depression. Lord help me.

Hang in there ladies, hopefully someday in the future someone will be stressing over our 80th bday parties. From my Mouth to Gods ears!!!

Outdamnedspot, the golf didn't go well, lol. But, he tried. He was pretty upset afterward, he had been playing well but that day his game just wasn't in the bag for him. Oh well, there's another one next month. His cardiac issues are still being examined. Had an echo done last week and something about one of his upper valves not operating properly. He is being fitted for a heart monitor next week and still waiting to get the appt for the cardiologist. I never thought I'd be sending my 20 yr old son to see a cardiologist!!! Thanks for asking about him, so sweet!! Glad your DD is doing well.

I'm feeling the love from everyone and I'm feeling a little stronger because of it xoxo

Ireland, very true!! I keep thinking of the Toby Keith song "Wish I didn't know now, what I didn't know then" I know it's about a guy who gets cheated on but the line is how I've been feeling, this time last year I didn't know about my cancer.

Carolyn, in 3 weeks you'll be a rad grad!!! Hope things are calming for you

Believe, from your mouth to Gods ears!!! I want to live long enough to be a burden to my children!! Lmao

Chrisrenee, I hope Taylor stays pain free.

Sleep well my wonderful sisters. Lots of love to everyone. And big huge thanks again.

I didn't know gabapentin was prescribed for neuropathy.  Mine was prescribed for handling the hot flashes of tamoxifen.  Any input from anyone's docs would be helpful ??

    Hi,

Chrisrenee  hope Taylor is recovering, Shianne hope you are feeling better....I got home and had an appointment letter to attend my oncologists office on the 18th June....think she wants to celebrate with me, maybe take me out for a beer!!!!  There is nowt good about BC.....bar the fact it has bonded all of us....so a good up-side.

Outdamnedspot  I got the verse from a blog called "sosheknows.com" The blog is written by a beautiful young lady who underwent treatment for a rare type of lung cancer, and she was then diagnosed with brain cancer and liver cancer on the same week I was diagnosed.  Did she give up.....hell no .... she has fought back, got married, underwent more chemo + rads and has recently been told she is being given a 4 month break to see if its gone! She is truely inspirational.  I worked with her brother and that family have been cursed with cancer, however they pick themselves up and raise money for good causes each and every time.

Believe I'm with you.....hope we will all be sussing out venues for our 80th birthdays....mine doesnt have to be a surprise, I will happily organise it myself!!!

Hello to liefie, Marian, Tazzy and all the rest of you fab ladies.....oh and Scottie we have had 5 full days of Sun!!!!!No need for Vit D this week!!!!Laughing

    Take care.x

Ireland, thanks for posting about sosheknows.com.   I have been finding it very easy these days to bitch and whine about every ache, pain, scar - you name it.    Reading that made me realise that I need an attitude adjustment.  I should be grateful I am here, shit could be so much worse and it isn't - I am very blessed to have what I have.   Gave me a reality check anyway.

Luanne& Websister - I hope things are getting better for you.

cmb - how is your situation going? Better I hope!!!!!!

Juneau - how is the house hunt going?

Chrisrenee - I am so sorry to hear about your DD. I hope she heals quickly.

Ireland & Tazzy - have either of you decided about the ovary removal yet?

Believe - I wanted to thank you again for the lovely bracelets! I wear one of mine every day and so many people comment on them. My Mom wears hers all the time also. When I start to feel down I rub my bracelet and imagine being with all of you here and it helps comfort me. I also love the small angels and have given them out to deserving people and they have been so appreciative of them. I am also considering getting one for my DD since she is really worried about her getting cancer now. We go to the doctor on Monday for a check and to see what the course of action will be. I think this is when DD will fully understand what has happened to her. I think Monday is going to be harder on me than when I was diagnosed. A 12 year old should not be having to hear the cancer word. I am thankful they found it when they did, but really a pre-cancerous mole on a child that was never exposed to the sun! Thank you for letting me vent again, as I don't want my DD worrying and my getting it out here really helps!!!!! I don't know how I would have gotten through this past year without all of you! You are truly my sisters and I hope to meet you all in person at some point. I considered postponing my hernia surgery so I could go to Iowa, but my DDs are also going to overnight camp that week for the first time and I want to be there for them and be able to hear all about it as soon as they come home.

I am sure I am missing many of you, but hugs to all and I will be in any needed pockets coming up.

On a happier note we are getting ready to close on our vacation home in NC in 10 days. All the paperwork makes it seem like I have 2 fulltime jobs, but it will be well worth it once the closing is done and we can enjoy the house and the beach that is 600 feet away from our front door.

Take care everyone and thanks for all the support you all give me!!!!!!

Hi my lovelies- Taylor is doing good. She's still in a lot of pain. So here's what happened.

Wednesday she had field day at school. She went down the slide and as she was getting up, the kid behind her was waiting on her to get up another kid pushed the other kid and he went flying into her and took her out at the knees. She landed straight on her shoulder. Here's her x-ray from the hospital on wed.

If you look at the to of the xray of her shoulder you can see where the bones cross that is where she has the fracture. @[715845784:2048:Lisa] will be able to spot it right away. Lol

here's a picture of her and her BF from her end of year class party yesterday.

Tay and one of her best friends

Chrisrenee - darling school picture of Taylor and her BFF. So sad about her collar bone, that puts a crimp on summer activities. Do they put any kind of a brace or cast? How long to heal?

Momof3 - your place steps from the ocean sounds wonderful! Our place is in the middle of the desert. My husband prefers water but the Colorado River is close. Our place is more for the winters, too hot in the summer. Lots of Snowbirds from Canada vacation in Laughlin.

I understand about the Angels. I honestly wouldn't consider leaving home without them. They give me comfort and strength. I say this little prayer all the time. Guardian Angels from Above, please protect the ones I love - and me too.

I think I mentioned that I wondered into the We Care Cancer store in Bullhead City (across the River from Laugjlin). The store keeper, a 23 year BC survivor and I started talking - yesterday she contacted my Mother to purchase Award Angels for their upcoming 5K Cancer Marathon on Nov 9th. So the Angels may very well be in a Marathon!

At noon today - I meet the party planner! Need lots of help...

Sending gentle hugs to everyone that needs them. I hope everyone has a painless week end in beautiful weather.

Liefie - I saw the Baking Show. How fun was that. I'm not that good by I did make Cottage Cheese cookies yesterday. My husband loves them. Poor guy will never be skinny, unless I find a new hobby.

    Hope everyone is feeling ok.

Chrisrenee-all I say looking at that xray is OUCH!!!! Really cute picture though!

Believe! You never fail to amaze me- cottage cheese cookies? never even heard of them but they sound intriguing! Probably better for me to eat while I'm walking on my treadmill than chocolate chip cookies or brownies too right? That's great about the bracelets and the marathon. Mine is one of the few pieces of jewelry that I wear and I just love it.

Websister did your MRI ever get scheduled?

Shianne did your son go to the cardiologist yet? Mine is a couple years older than yours but his bp was up pretty high so we talked him into making his 1st drs appointment since highschool. His doctor examined him and everything then the girl came in and gave him an EKG. So while they were in there, he was asking if that was ordinary procedure and she had to go and saythat he usually doesn't do that unless he hears something. Then she gave him some papers to go get blood labs and told him come back in a week. That shook him up pretty bad and he said Mom I hate the waiting to find out if something is REALLY wrong with me. I said welcome to our world hon; test, wait & worry, test, wait & worry. (I didnt want him to get any more worried than he already is but its scary for me and his Dad too as heart issues run in the family but not as young as he is.) Hopefully it will be just diet or something.

Momof3 in your pocket Monday; things are always harder when our children are involved but especially when the stinkin "C" word is involved.

Shari it's so nice to see your comments reflecting that you are getting back to your new "normal".

cmbernardi I too am a pug lover!hope things are going a little smooth for you.

We have had SO much rain from thi s tropical storm but thank goodness today is much clearer. The constant rain and cloudiness really get me down after a while.

Well everyone take care and have a great weekend.

Momof3, that holiday home 600 ft from the beach sounds sooooo good! Big hugs to you and DD. As you say, no child of 12 should be put through this, and I sincerely hope this is the last of it.

Chrisrenee, glad Taylor is doing okay. Children are resilient, as your darllng little nephew showed us, and she will be over it soon.

Believe, my take on that baking show is that the one with the calmest disposition and the best nerves will win - that pressure cooker atmosphere must be very unnerving, don't you think? My DH has forbidden me to make sweet treats except on weekends when we have company - lol. We both have a sweet tooth, and have to exercise some form of discipline - LOL. Good luck on planning Mom's party! What are you baking today?

Shari, good to 'see' you too, and that you are now encouraging other people - way to go!

Three weeks out from DIEP surgery I am getting very bored at home, not being able to exercise or do much yet. So this afternoon DH has something planned for us - a grocery shopping trip at WalMart - LOL. Before that I get to take the dog to the vet for his yearly booster injections. Oh well, it beats sitting at home, and I can drive again. Will not complain - I've healed so well, and feel amazing.

Everybody else, a good day to you all, wherever you may find yourself on this journey. We've been given lemons, so let's make lemonade!

Liefie Wow A trip to Walmart and the vet is trying on anyone let alone someone out of surgery just 3 weeks ago. LOL You must be feeling good and getting antsy. That is really great that you feel so amazing, I'm so happy for you. So you  think Believes cottage cheese cookies count as sweets? I was kind of thinking they sounded like a health food, even more so if I ate them on the treadmill. Truthfully I never even heard of cottage cheese cookies but i'm sure if Believe made them, they are delicious. Unfortunately I have a horrible sweet tooth too.

2FriedEggs, antsy is the word, and I feel I can do way more than I'm allowed, but will be 'obedient' - lol. Who would have thought a grocery shopping trip to WalMart could be so enticing - LOL. Don't know if those cottage cheese cookies are sweet - my feeling is they are. Maybe it's just my terrible sweet tooth. . . I have a ricotta cheese-lemon cookie recipe which is sweet; it is almost like a cupcake. Yum. So I'm thinking Believe's cookies are the same - no rhyme or reason for it - lol. I should start eating my cookies on the treadmill too - what an excellent idea!

It's been a week and I have no chance of catching up (at least not now). I'm in my hotel room waiting for my weekend roommate. I got selected as an Alternate (I was wait listed) at the last minute for the Casting for Recovery weekend here in NJ. They are held all over the country. It's free and for breast cancer patients within the last 12 mos. the activity it's built around is fly fishing (LOL) - hence the Casting part of the name. It's 2 days. First day is yoga, knot tying lessons, fishing lessons. Sunday we go out to the river and have a go at it!! There are group discussions about BC and it's pa t on our lives. I'm anxious in. Good way. Wish it were all of you here!!

As Per my house... There is a inspection tot who believes he can run a camera easily and inspect the seepage pits. A scheduled for Wednesday afternoon. Fingers crossed for me ladies.

Tazzy, down 1.2 this week per weight watchers. My scale put me down to 167.2!

Work has been insane with my boss teaching me and transferring a lot of information in preparation for his departure from the company. Then each night I've been busy until 9:00. Mondy my jail commitment, Tuesday was Yoga, Wednesday - the gym and then 12 step mtg and dinner with girlfriends, Thursday was getting my legs waxed... I know TMI... But then I had to pack for this weekend. Wow, when I write all that I understand why I'm do tired. I'm up running on my Bitch every morning, even if its only 20 mins.

So how is everyone doing?! Did I miss anything important/health wise? Is everyone still holding there own? I'm not sure i can go all the back.

Websister; do you ever get your results?

    Tazzy? Are you still uncomfortable?

I've missed you all... Remind me not to stay away so long again!!!

Chrisrenee, poor Taylor, hoping for a speedy recovery.

Juneau, I have heard of Casting for recovery, a good friend of mine sent me a link for it here in October but she is stage 4 and is afraid she will be doing more chemo at that time so she doesnt want to commit. Let me know how it is, I may try to find someone else to go with. Sure hope your pit inspection goes well.

    Maryah930, yay for NED!!!!!!

Getting ready for Relay for Life walk tonight, first time, looking forward to it.

ALL - thanks for the well wishes!  Things are going better here  U know, time heals all wounds, right?  The Captain and I just ignore each other.  I've got RADS then the oophorectomy to deal with and I want to get the F out of here already!  Sorry for my bad mouth but I miss my boyfriend Blaise in VA. and I just want my (former) life back!  I am sure that many of us can say the same thing!  Happy weekend all and hoping/praying that everyone feels GREAT!

Juneaubug and 2Fried - I think I must have slipped off the radar re: MRI, I've heard nothing about a scheduled date, I'll have to follow up on that next week. Monday a.m. will be my first mammogram since June 8th last year that started this whole process for me. This will be my non-surgical side. It will be good to have that first one under my belt. In the afternoon I have my 3 month follow up visit with the radiologist, she will then make the referral to the plastic surgeon for my reconstruction. The waitlist just to be seen is long and then there is the surgical waitlist once seen.

Chrisrenee - that fracture does look painful, your daughter is beautiful

To everyone else, take care and have a good weekend
