    Thanks everyone. xo

I'm nearing my one yr since dx'd and I'm not dealing well with it. Emotionally I'm a wreck and physically, the SE from tamoxifen compounded with the residual effects of chemo and rads are more than I can handle. I'm seriously considering stopping the tamox. My DH agrees, the pain is awful, the fatigue, constipation, bloating are effecting the quality of my life. I'm miserable. My eyelids hurt, anyone experience that? So, I'm a tired, sore beached whale with painful eyelids who is full of shit?

I haven't had a good night sleep since rads ended, I'm especially tired this morning so I think I'm going to try to get a couple hours now.

Hope you all have a great day.

    Hi Shianne - ((((((((((()))))))))))

Our one year dates are close, mine is June 20th. I have also been dealing with (or not dealing well with) everything. I told my doctor yesterday that I have felt worse in the last month and a half than I did during chemo/rads maybe it's because my expectation is that I should be feeling better and having more energy and that's not happening for me. Anyway, I was reluctant to start the gabapentin I had been given but we decided I really should try it in order to help tolerate the tamoxifen side effects and the neuropathy. I took my first one last night at bedtime and I do have to say that I had the best sleep I've had in a long time so I am feeling optimistic.

I don't like taking meds but I told myself that I took chemo and I am now taking tamoxifen and Herceptin. During chemo I was willing to take meds for nausea and steroids to counteract side effects so if I did that then I decided I would do what I needed to do now to help with the tamoxifen/Herceptin side effects until I am off of them.

I agree with the others - talk to your doctor

Websister, I'm on gabapentin for neuropathy as well 2 in am and 2 in pm but don't ind it's helping with any of the SE I do know it's working for the neuropathy tho. You could be onto something about expecting to feel better than I do, I want so much to move on and forward but I keep thinking that one year ago I had no idea, I was normal. Cancer had yet to invade my life, disrupt my family and turn my world upside down.

The SE are what's most bothersome tho at the moment. It's just after 1 pm and I've been counting my hot flashes today... I'm in the middle of # 8. That's not counting the night sweats I woke up with and the drenches I had when I tried to nap this morning.

I have a call into my MO, waiting for her or the nurse to call back.

I want to thank you guys so much, I really don't know what I would have done had I not found you all!!!

Ireland, I love your take on things - must be an Irish thing? LOL!

Websister and Shianne, so sorry to hear this. Bc certainly is not for cissies, and it can become very tedious when we expect to get better, and it does not happen. At least it seems the Gabapentin is working for you, Websister. Hope it continues to add to your quality of life. Shianne, hugs to you again, and hopefully your doc can work something out for you.

Shianne - sorry, I wasn't aware you were already on Gabapentin. The prescription given to me was one three times a day. I remember Juneau saying that she was on one three times a day initially and now is down to one twice daily. I do note that one of the side effects can be constipation. Do you take a probiotic? I find that has been helpful for improved digestion, also use a Senokot S when necessary.

Re: tamoxifen - I have read on another thread here specifically about tamoxifen that some people have had success by having the pharmacy change them to tamoxifen by a different manufacturer - apparently each company may use different fillers.

I am hoping the gabapentin helps me for the hot flashes - I hear you, I am still having about 20 a day including the night sweats.

I hope you and your doctor can figure it out for you (((()))

OMG, I have just tried to catch up but what strikes me is that we all have so many S/E from treatments, drugs (that we need to take regardless~~at least I do as the AI is supposed to dramatically decrease my % of recurrence in my case) surgery, chemo, yada yada. I have been trying to find out more about some of the latest studies on Tamoxifen that say maybe it is better to take it then AI's. But then I hear some of your horror stories about Tamoxifen. Yikes, no simple answer is there?

Luanne, I do hope that you can get some decent answers in addition to all the hugs!

Glaxol Base still going on lots but regardless my skin is not happy. Got an rx for Betamethasone last night and it did help at bedtime. Armpit is also not good and expect it to go next and still have 9 rads to go.

The best thing going on is the Mindfulness course I am taking at our cancer agency even though there is homework~~all worthwhile.

Talked to a good friend from our Saudi days last week~~she is now in Colorado. She just finished her BC treatment a year ago with bmx and chemo and no nodes positive and she called me when I was doing chemo with lot of support then, but just found out she has metastisis to liver and pelvis/spine. Arrgghhh!

On the other hand my DH and I did a short hike to a lovely little lake on Monday after rads and met a guy whose mom is 90 and on her 3rd go at BC but just travelled from France to visit and on her own!

Enough already, but just wanted to check in and say hi to you all.

Oh and I also signed Scorchy's FB petition but did not want to share on my own FB page as it seemed as though they wanted to access my email and FB list to do so. Anyone else have that issue?

Liefie, you sound so good! Websister, I hope the Gabapentin helps.

Tazzy, isn't our weather awesome this week? My garden is really going well though the weeds are too.

    :) Marian

Marian, how many rads are you getting altogether? Boosts? Apparently those boosts do not have the same detrimental effect on the skin as the normal rads. Saline soaks help a lot too. Best wishes for getting through this - you have certainly had your fair share of issues - enough now. Your friend with the mets - so sorry! What more can one say?

I'm really doing well - cooking strawberry jam as we speak. Better run and check on it - lol.

Hi my lovelies! Just wanted to check in with everyone. I have read everything over the last couple of days. I'm keeping up (barely) lol.

Luanne- Hugs and loves! Those cancerversaries sneak up and kick us square in the ass. Today I am currently celebrating my 2nd anniversary of the year. The day I had my BMX.

Today, Taylor broke her collarbone while at field day. Poor baby hurts like hell. She has had a pain pill and currently taking a nap. I am off work today and tomorrow to take care of her. Looks like i will be sleeping on the couch tonight.

Ireland, think you that is encouraging!!

Liefie, lol I love that line and think I'm going to use it at times. "Cancer is not for cissies" lol

Websister, I've tried everything, senecot, dulcolax, fruit, raw veggies, loads of water, I even put extra hot peppers on my pizza last night! Nothing, NADA, I'm seriously considering that stuff we have to drink before a scope, lol

Marian, I don't think it matters what we take everything has SE and after all our other treatments our systems are so run down that we have nothing to fight with. My MO told me that tamoxifen won't cause pain, but all the other info I've read says yes it does. And I have bone pain almost as bad as the neupogen pain, joint stiffness etc so I don't think drs really know either. Everyone reacts differently. Just like with the gabapentin. It worked miracles for Juneau but not me lol maybe I'm just a cissy.

I did manage to get an appointment with MO this Friday and was told in mean time not to take tamox till then... Of course that was after I took today's dose. FML

Shianne, you? A cissie, you? NEVER!!! I am one at the moment - that jam cooking has worn me out to the point where I am now lying on the couch, looking at the dirty kitchen, and thinking DH can clean it up when he comes home from work. He's also going to eat the jam, right? LOL.

Chrisrenee, big hugs to Taylor! Just when you think it's safe, something else happens . . .

Luanne, no way you are a sissy (sp?)! Will be interested to hear what your MO says.

Liefie, I do a lot of leaving the kitchen for my DH. He is good at dishes and vacuuming  but not cooking or bathrooms but I take what I can get. I will get 28 rads~~no boosts as they are hitting 4 fields due to all those nodes (7/14) and I guess with the mx and tumour gone before when I had the lumpetomy no need.

Chrisrenne, don't know how you manage with everything and now your DD home with a broken collarbone!

believe I am going to order a bracelet for my friend in Colorado but may wait a little while as don't want to suggest angels needed just yet!

Liefie- Thank you, I will give her a gentle hug. :)

Marian- It's what all of us mom's do right. We take care of our kiddos when they need us. I was a frantic fool trying to get out of work to get to her. She's relaxing right now with pain pills. We are watching Hotel for Dogs that I recorded the other day for her. She's laughing which means she's not in pain right now. Now to figure out what she and I will eat for dinner.

Seen this and thought it said it all

"And once the storm is over, you wont remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive, you wont even be sure, infact whether the storm is really over. But one thing is for certain, when you come out of the storm you wont be the same person who walked in."
