Thanks everyone for being with me today. We are finally home and although they can't tell you anything, I am 100% positive they saw some seizures so I am expecting we will be back at the doctore next week to change her meds again. It has been 2 1/2 years and we are still trying to find a med that will get rid of all the seizures. It is a never ending battle, but at least we are down to only small seizures. I am trying to find the positive in all this!

Thanks again everyone and I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Momof3, thanks for letting us know. So happy it's over for now, and you can get some rest. Always bad when something is wrong with our kids, eh? Hugs to you both!

Believe.....forgive me!!!!! I meant to add my condolences .....❤️

    Aruba....what a fabulous pic....love it.

One of our sisters on another thread asked me to remind everyone, although I'm sure we don't need reminding, that it is BC awareness month. She is suggesting that if we plan to donate an idea would be to donate to BC.Org. I totally agree!!!!! I myself ONLY donate to BC.Org as this is the place where I found you beautiful women plus all the help and support we get from the mods.

Please indulge me by telling you a story about one of our sisters who lives in Australia and has become like a true sister to me. She is flying all the way from Australia to Atlanta to take care of another sister and her three children, one of whom has Down's syndrome while she has reconstruction done. This woman's biological sisters refused as they 'don't like kids"!!!!!!!! My point here (apart from sharing this amazing act of kindness)

is that it would not be happening if it were not for BC.Org as of course they would never have met.

Pleas think about a small donation here.....we owe this site so much.....luv ya all.....

Believe I'm so sorry to hear about your X. Your son is so lucky to have you for a mom!! My thoughts and prayers are with you both.

Mom of three, I'm in your pockets!!

DD #1 came home for the weekend, so happy to have her here. She got her official acceptance into the study abroad program in Australia for three weeks in January. She is over the moon excited! She will work with aboriginal tribes along with some vacation time. She gets to apply for acceptance into the nursing program in January, also. DD #2 has her homecoming dance tonight. I'll try to post a pic on our BCO Facebook page.

Hope you're all enjoying the weekend. Love and hugs to all!

Juneau and all, my only way to stop gaining weight is not eat. Not so much fun doing that! I am steadily gaining in spite of continuing to do Zumba with plantar fasciitis (excrutiating pain on the bottom of foot in heel area) and a sprained back muscle. Gonna finish those classes soon. Then, what? I have been walking the dog and bike riding. Should I buy some weights?

Anyone remember when we had to stuff ourselves to be 100lb soaking wet? After I had my son, my metabolism changed. After menopause,it slowed down again. Is that what this is doing to us?

What exercises are all of you doing? Any luck? I remember Blessings had gone on a medically supervised liquid diet. I dunno how brave and strong some of you are but I would have broken into a bakery and devoured several cakes under those circumstances.

Long day and I'm wiped but had to share. Working on lots of fundraising for my ACS Making Strides Team for the Jones Beach walk on 10/20. Had a fundraiser today at a local ice cream shop and had lots of family and friends come by. Will find out tomorrow how much we actually wound up making - but I got close to $100 alone in the fishbowl I put out, forget the percentage of their sales during our time slot they promised to donate. But most moving of all were my little cousins - in elementary and middle school. Who spent all weekend last weekend making and selling bracelets. They presented me with an envelope today filled with cash. And the card said this:

    Dear Rachel,

We sold our bracelets to raise money for Breast Cancer. We hope it helps find a cure. We love you!.

PS - We raised $193.50, and it all goes to you!

Naturally I balled my eyes out when I hugged them all and their mom who I know taught them well.

My team has passed the $3000 mark in our fundraising efforts, and we don't even have the check from the ice cream fundraiser yet!

Hope you're all doing well and finding your happy. Juneau - I'll text ya soon and we'll figure out another play date! :)

great story Rachel, it made me smile that your cousins are Sooo sweet :)

Layla and anybody else who has a smart phone and needs a little help/motivation for a good workout....try downloading "workout free" it gives you step by step for what muscle part (abs, butt, arms, cardio, etc). All you need to do is set aside some time each day to do what it tells you to do.

There is also 5k free for anybody wanting to start back slowly into running. It times you and tells you when you can walk and when you can run, and it is all at your own speed, nobody is telling you go faster. You can use this program outside or on a treadmill.

These are both great programs that help you get back into life and help you feel good about yourself again :))) these both worked for me and I highly recommend them to others, hope it helps anybody looking for that little extra help.

websister- I'm so sorry about your Mom. You and your family will be in my prayers. Let me know if there is anything I can do.

Juneau- I meant to tell you weeks ago, glad you are doing well since your eye lift, you look fantastic!

ramols- How sweet of your cousins to make a donations for you, you must be so proud.

Believe- I'm so sorry about your ex, I will also keep your boys in my prayers too. Let me know if there is anything I can do.

Karenz- So glad you got through your walk, mine was very emotional and cried for the first 4 laps and then cried again during the moment of silence lap. But I can't wait to do it again in April.

Jon left a week ago to go back out to the rig. Since he's been gone he's already endured Tropical Storm Karen, said the seas were rough and the wind was horrible. Thank goodness it's over with now.
Work has been something else. I keep hoping that my Director will be turning in her notice any day now. I really don't like her or attitude at work. I think she gets threatened if someone else knows more than she does. If you ask her to show you something she doesn't really like to help you for fear that you will learn something and retain it. If I didn't like my job or have almost 18 years there I would leave in a heartbeat.
Hope you all have a wonderful day and get ready to jump on the Monday train.

Ramols - thank you for sharing your fundraising stories - your little cousins are precious - congratulations on your team rising so much money, let's hope that we will all have to find a new cause after they cure this beast BC

Believe - sending hug and condolences to you and your family ((()))

Karen - great picture, wonderful that you shared the walk with your family and all of us

Today was the Run for the Cure here in Canada, I participated with some family members and friends. People were very generous in donating and I exceeded my fundraising goal.

Still a little brain dead after the last week so forgive me if I neglected to comment or add support to anyone - we have had a houseful since the funeral on Friday, Thursday was my final Herceptin infusion (18 in total), I rang the bell in the chemo area and shed a few tears as I walked away, I'm sure there were a few people in the waiting area wondering about that. Yesterday, we went and cleaned out Mom's room at the lodge (they called Thursday to ask about this).

This week I will start to go through what we packed up as well as work on some of the financial aspects ie banking, closing accounts

For the rest of today though, I will rest

    Take care everyone

Thank you, Ramols - it feels so good to be done, the Herceptin part of this journey seems like it dragged on forever after everyone else was finished their treatments. It will really hit me in three weeks time when another one would be due that it is really over. Looking forward to getting my port out soon, no word yet on when that will be, MUGA scan on October 21st.

Looking forward to congratulating you in one and a half weeks - we can celebrate and happy dance together then - maybe Tazzy will post her 'happy dancer' for us

What joy on this site today! websister; YAYAYAYAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ramols; you inspire me. I'm not even at the $1200 mark yet, but i have gotten my local gym involved. we are getting donations and people and placing ribbons up they can gift to someone. The sentence on the image of the ribbon is "I dedicate this workout to:". I'm hoping we make lots of money there. I am going to split the monies between ACS making strides team, and CFR (Casting for Recovery of NJ). (I cried too, just READING about your cousins!)

Karen/websister: glad your events were successful.

    Aruba: you look BEAUTIFUL!

Chrisrenee; I feel your pain!!! (work thing that is)

layla; you just have to find what works for you. A bike might be foot with your foot pain. If you can afford, maybe get a trainer for a few weeks to teach you what to do, and those apps are great as well. I use them sometimes to push me.

liefie: thank you - I FEEL beautiful!

I pulled out a bag of pants this weekend that I had put into the closet 4 years ago. I was determined to show myself that the scale is not what is important (as it is still up!) - and many (about 10 pairs) slid right up! They are a tiny bit snug, so I need to lose another inch or so to wear them comfortably, but 6 months ago I couldn't get them over my knees!

As for the house, my husband and I had a lengthy discussion this weekend (as you might have guessed). We discussed the reality of the how much house we are getting and that we won't find all of those things in our price range again without going through another short sale. (we already pushed ourselves 20k over our initial limit -which added $100/mo to the mortgage). Anyway - we are in this now - invested a few thousand in lawyers, inspections... So if we get pushed back after negotiations, we are going to pay the additional monies for the house. We are playing a game of chicken with the sellers attorney and I think we are going to lose. It's worth it for what we are buying it for. We are excited.... we are seeing a light at the end of the tunnel . Hopefully there won't be a $3,558 tunnel toll. So, we should be moving mid November. :-)

Congratulations to Ramols and Websister! The day of my last herceptin was like wow! Only way to describe it. Celebrate.

Jennifer you look amazing! I've been hitting the gym slot and my scale hasn't budged so this time around trying to lose weight it's all about the inches not the pounds.

This weekend I'm going to west virginia to see my bff and I can't wait!

    Enjoy your day everyone!

Karen, what a great photo! Good looking bunch there. Like the shirts.

Marcie, yep good idea on the phone app. Get the most exercise with fiancé. He is gonna get me a trial membership to the y and also a trial at another fitness club here. However, gotta stay off my foot for awhile. That should be easy since I work for the feds and we have been laid off since Oct 1st. However, had a bday on the 7th and they were dragging me all over town buying me stuff. Haa.....

Tazzy, I really did leave my heart in San Fran, love it! Even the $10 coffee. We took the BART downtown and watched people buying the $300 diesel jeans. We couldn't afford that. We had to go shop in Berkeley like poor students. We went to the Vietnamese section of town and ate their fabulous roast pork with spring chick noodle soup stuffed with bay leaves. Bay leaves are super high in antioxidents, guess that's why Vietnam has low rates of breast cancer.

Loral - wonderful milestone - many more to follow!

Thank you all for your condolences. My son is doing fine. I didn't expect so many emotions on my side with my X passing. My son actually helped me. I just didn't expect him to pass so quickly. Yes, we enjoy everyday!

Congratulations to all of you walkers! Great photo Karen. Ramols loved your happy story.

We donated all the furniture that was left in our condo to the Cancer Store here plus I've been donating bracelets. I'm sure every little bit and donation helps.

We are still out of town with my Mom and poodle. Having a wonderful time making great memories. My DH is getting a bit antsy so we will probably we packing up soon - ah.

I'm available for all pocket parties. Wish you all the best! Hugs.

SO... I went back for my 4 week check in at the Metabolic and Weight Loss center yesterday. I'd gained a pound!! Since I'm doing everything they are asking they have made 2 changes. # 1 is I have to eat dinner by 6:30-7. This is going to mean bringing it to work most days as I go right to a meeting, or the gym or something. Just something else to sort out. # 2 - they gave me a pill to move things along. The dietician/RN said it's most likely the tamoxifen. I am losing inches around my leg, but this estrogen producing belly fat is not budging one iota! So I took the first pill this morning. I feel a little uncomfortable. Like a strange anxiety. They say you will adjust to it. It's not unbearable or anything (most likely a result of my considerable 6 cups of coffee a day habit). She said some people don't lose weight on it, so to keep my expectations in check...but I'm hopeful.

We decide to pay the $3,500 toll to buy our house so now we wait for 2nd bank approval (which we are expecting any day now) and it's full steam ahead. We are looking at closing mid November and should be in for Thanksgiving here in the US. I'm PETRIFIED that we are getting in over our heads, but families of 4 somehow manage to live on what the two of us make, so we should be able to squeeze by.

    Layla - happy belated birthday.

believe- a bit of traveling sounds so wonderful!!!

tazzy - I LOVE SF. have a great time!

    xoxo Ladies!
