Excuse me breaking in here, but we are looking to show your faces, names and quotes at our fundraising event in October (www.rockforbreastcancer.org), and would love your help. This event is one of our largest fundraisers of the year and we'll be joined by hundreds of generous donors.

Specifically, we will have two projector screens up during the event, and want to show the people attending the event YOUR faces--- the women of our community, the women who use and rely on BCO ! Having the opportunity to share your photos and quotes that night will reinforce to our donors, in a meaningful and personal way, just how vitally important their contributions are to our community.

For this, we are looking for people willing to share a photo of themselves (either alone or with family, friends, pets, other BCO members, etc.), allow us to use your first name, say where you are from (it can be from anywhere in the world!), and give us a quote on how important BCO is to you. We are looking to have at least 40 people and have (only) a few weeks to work on this.

If you are interested, could you please email Melissa at mjenkins@breastcancer.org, with your photo, first name, where you live, and your quote? Also, PM us if you have any questions!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for helping us!!

    Melissa

let's help them out ladies. I think some of those pictures from get togethers shows how strong our bond is. And I'm sure out of the 6,000+ posts there has to be something they can use to show how this site has helped us whether it was information, support or just one of our special pocket parties!

Juneaubug - you are gorgeous! Good luck with this next step of house buying. My first experience was so stressful but when all was said and done I had the house I wanted and the wonderful memories to go with it. It is so worth it in the end. I lived in an apartment my entire life and the first thing I did was paint a room cranberry just because I could!

funny, one anniversary I was thinking about had to do with hair. I had last chemo and surgery last summer. 13 mos from baldness my hair is short and curly-ok, not recognizable as post chemo. But my eyelashes and eyebrow are still soooo skimpy! Thank god for eye pencils, but I wonder if they will ever come back?

Lisa me too!!!! So frustrating. I draw the eyebrows on and use liner to make it seem like my lashes are there. Never used fake eyelashes but I really wish they would come back.

After throwing a fit today, I am now having my surgery on surgery day 10/29. I went to my friend/supervisor and apologized for the way my attitude probably came off. I asked her if my coworker walks out without a surgery date next Wednesday do I assume that i'm good to go for my surgery preop the following Tuesday. The bitch (my director) came back with absolutely not, because she's going to have surgery. I told her we don't even know if it's going to happen. she looked directly at me and said that " IF my surgery was that important to me, I wouldn't have given up my time", that my gesture of rescheduling was insincere and that I NEED to stop playing games. I explained to her that when I very nicely agreed to give my time up because I was told that my coworkers "procedures" would be coming down very quickly and it's been almost a month and nothing has happened other than 1 procedure. I told her that nothing has been scheduled nothing is currently going on and I'm scheduled in 2.5 weeks. She said she was leaving it up to HR to decide what happens. she called me back around 130 saying since I'm going to be out more than 4 days I have to call our time away from work facility to let them know and they would have to approve it, well I called and it's been approved already. So the next 3 weeks can't get here fast enough, I need a vacation and quick!

Believe- that is so nice that you donated the leftover furniture from your condo and bracelets! That's just another reason I Love you girlie!

I agree I think we should all help the Mods out and send in our information!

    love you all!

I am so glad you have your surgery date ... Stand your ground girl. I can't believe your supervisor can treat you that way.

Joanne- it wasn't my supervisor(she's my friend, it was my bitch Director. I'm ready for her to drop off the face of the earth. Better yet find another damn job someplace far/far/far/far away from me.

Hey Ladies.... two posts coming. First - I responded to Melissa (Moderator above). with this message. I attached the photo of Ramols and me and the "Online Friends" post of Tazzys on page 208.

    Melissa,

I am juneaubugg from the 2013 survivors forum.

My name if Jennifer Juneau and I'm from Andover, NJ. I have attached a photo of myself and Ramols (Rachel from Long Island, NY). We met on the BCO on the 2012 Sisters thread during active treatment last year and migrated over to the survivors thread in January this year.

As for a quote you can just skim through our thread - there are so many great ones posted often. But recently Tazzy (another founding member of the 2012 sisters) posted the attached "Online friends" sentiment. We all feel the same way.

For me personally...... the BCO is port in the storm, my little piece of sanity in the middle of an insane experience, it's my lifeline. These women saved my life many nights when I thought no one understood, no one was out there... at 3:00 I'd post; and a reply would come from someone who "got it". I am SO VERY GRATEFUL to the BCO.

    2nd post:

Chrisrenee; vent baby vent.... (and woot woot on getting your surgery soon.

maryannelizabeth; same to you... light an the end of the tunnel and all that good stuff!

So good stuff happening here. My work has agreed to donate the proceeds from their "$5 to dressdown" day for breast cancer to my Making Strides group and the American Cancer Society, instead of Komen. The HR women I went to and asked if it were possible to even split the proceeds was touched by my sharing of the experience I had with the LGFB (Look good feel better) program (as so many of us were) and my passion for the organization. The company will be matching the donations raised by employees!! I am super excited and truly grateful to her.

So.. this morning I decided to stop for coffee because my husband barely left me any (which NEVER happens) - but there's no coincidences right...?

So I get tot eh Dunkin Donuts and the drive thorough is around the place so I decide to park and run in (which I NEVER do). As I'm crossing the drive through line area to walk in a woman pulls to the end of the line with a hot pink cotton cap on. You know the kind... the super soft ones we all wore during chemo. It was identical to the black one I have (and haven't yet parted with for some sickly sentimental reason). And she had the look. Battered, bruised, tired, deflated... a person who was in the middle of surviving chemo. My heart skipped a beat when I say her. I wanted to run up and hug her.

Of course I didn't, but I did go inside, find the manager and tell her I wanted to pay for the order for the woman in THAT CAR (pointing). The manager gave me a paper and pen and asked if I'd like to give her a note. I wrote, "Hang in there. I was there last year. xo". I paid for the order and left. ....when I pulled around to pull out I saw her pulled over into a spot in her car crying. I ALMOST stopped, but there was nothing I could say or do to ease her pain. I was just hoping a random act of kindness would make her day. But here is what I discovered... IT MADE MY DAY. I can't believe how far we have all come. In the midst of follow-up surgeries, the end on herceptins, achy joints and locked shoulders... we are SO MUCH BETTER then we were when we were in the MIDDLE of this. We truly are survivors!!! I love you all!!!

Juneau, I'm a big fan of random acts. I love that your kindness touched a sister in need and touched all of us, too. (Maybe when she's in a better place a year from now, she 'll pay it forward!). Thanks so much for sharing! Lots of love!!

Thank you for sharing, Juneau - love it. So glad to see you paying it forward. My thoughts and prayers are with that woman.

I smiled to see what you wrote to the moderators, I wrote something quite similar :)

I also don't believe in coincidences - following my Mom's funeral a gentleman from the funeral home contacted me and asked how things went, then offered to help me complete the death benefits form. I arranged an appointment. We didn't take long to complete that form but then talk turned to breast cancer - my bracelets. He told me that his wife had been diagnosed with breast cancer at Easter and that their whole world had turned upside down at that point in time. She has now completed radiation and is experiencing a lot of fatigue. We sat and talked for almost an hour, it was wonderful to be able to share some of my experience and encourage him which will also hopefully get back to her and encourage her. This made my day that day also.

we made it to NC and it's heavenly!!!!!!!! We left our house at 7pm yesterday and got down here at 6am. It was a long drive but this is the first time I have been in the new house for more than an hour. We even brought the dog and he did great in the car!!!!! This was his first car ride longer than 15 minutes and he really did great. My youngest (who gets car sick) didn't even feel bad so it was a great trip. We still need to do some painting here, but it is so warm and lovely. BC made my DH and I decide that life is short and we should just go for it and buy the vacation home. Once we have it all spruced up I will post a link to the pictures for you all to see.

Love what you did Jen and websister!!!!!!! I have done similar also and it really dors make you see how far you have come since DX and treatment.

Thanks for letting me brag about our new vacation home!!!!!

Love you all and could never have gotten through the last year and a half without you!!!!!

good afternoon my lovelies! I'm sitting at my sons BB shoutout waiting for it to start. Basketball season is finally upon us. Thank goodness! Tomorrow is mine and Jon's 12 yr anniversary and he surprised me with roses today. He is away at work and is missing our anniversary. I really hate when he's gone, but it is for the betterment of our family.

My boss is still being a bitch and is now harassing me about my paperwork being approved. So my thoughts are fuck it if she wants to play this game let's play! I don't lose. I've played with BC and won against the bitch. 😛

Here's the flowers and card from my hubby! The card was just classic Jon and our ongoing joke between us.
