Thanks cjrt and Brandall for responses. I have been doing a lot of research, and writing down questions for ps. I will let you know what i decide when i get it figured out. So much information to process all at once. Also i hate having to go to new dr and explain stage 4 situation situation to nurse then to dr....why can't i be there for a face lift or tummy tuck? something that i choose myself? Somethingthat isn't decided for me. Yeah right like i would pay someone to cut on me if i had a choice. Just pisses me off that i have to loose my breasts, overies, and sanity to this damn disease....lol. It's not funny, but have to laugh to keep from crying.

Sorry to vent guys and thanks for being there for me to vent to..lol. I know you guys understand.

Cjrt - keeping fingers crossed for your tests. Hope vacation is lots of fun.

    Hugs to everyone!

CJRT - They do grow fast!  My daughter (the 6 year old) just finished first grade.  Seems like just yesterday she was a little baby.  In some ways I'm glad they are growing fast - I want the 3 year old to remember me!  In other ways, I'm so sad that I have to have that feeling!  I really hope you get great test results and you can enjoy your vacation!  Are you going somewhere fun?

aic - UGH, I hate scanxiety!  I so hope your test results are great tomorrow.  I almost wish they would put me to sleep until the results were in, so I didn't have to spend all of that time stressing.  I'll say an extra prayer for you tonight and send tons of positive thoughts your direction!

J1e1n1a - I do know what you mean.  It sucks, but you are right, you have to laugh or you will cry!  Hang in there.  I really am interested in what you decide, so keep us posted!  Have you had your ovaries out yet?  I have to say that surgery has been much better than I expected!  I was afraid of horrible side effects and it really hasn't been too bad at all!

    Checking in!!!!

Great news TM's down 1/10th in just 5 cycles of X. At last something is working.. No sun this summer due to X, which I am fine with, hate sunbathing anyway.

    aic, praying for your scans.

J1e1n1a, hope you decide for the best, thinking of you.

Brandall, how sweet of you to think of us..

Well, school's just over. So thankful to God that I saw DS finish second grade, now hoping for the next year.. if not, it's also OK, I feel I will be with him every minute even if I pass away, looking at him already grown into the gentleman & talking so kindly with everyone. Yeah!!!

Enjoying the summer, not feeling so bad, just fatigue 6 some facial rash to deal with. Could have been worse...Sent DS to Mom's summerhouse to have some relaxing time with DH.

The boards have become like a room in my house, don't feel as depressed when I visit here whenever I can- This one for the newbies_ just hang on, it will become easier...

    hugs, Ebru

Aic great news!!!!!! enjoy sis! I decided to shave the sides & back 'cos I don't want to have my son unhappy seeing me lose my hair all over again..so came up with the Pink image. We already love her music, now he's happy with my look. Though he still says occasionally how he loved my long locks. Well I did too. But that's just a small price to pay to be able to stay around for while longer Cool

Brandall I quit using henna for now since HFS is no longer bothering me, guess by hands & feet agreed to shut up & suck it in for their brother organ's sake Smile

    love & hugs all,

    Ebru

Glad you are dealing with it so well.

Jena, good luck with the operations, aren't you considering total hysteroctomy while just having docs digging in you !??? I have been considering it myself for some time now..but of course still no decision with MO yet.

Ebru - Thank you :) Yes I have chosen to have it all removed. I have my 2 babies (ages 10 and 11 1/2...), and I can borrow a niece or nephew if I if ever have the urge for another... lol.  All MO's are different. Mine wants to get rid of anything that produces estrogen and said that it would be best to just remove everything while in there. He has been talking about it since my first appt....

Any of you ladies need a dirty blonde, slightly above shoulder length, lace-front, straight syntehtic wig? I bought a beautiful (relatively expensive) wig when I first went through chemo and never ended up wearing it because I thought it was too light for me. I would be glad to take some pics, if you want. Figured I would offer it up here before donating it to the ACS. I would be glad to ship it.

Has anyone heard from Kasi?  We met on a different BCO board in 2011 and I've been following her ever since. Love her spirit so much and she was a great support to me. Hugs to you, Kasi, hope you're ok and just busy enjoying the summer!

Jena -My side effects have really been minimal since hysterectomy. I know everyone is different, but hopefully you will be one of the lucky ones :)

I've been busy with trips still. I just left Myrtle Beach with a friend this morning to head to a family trip in North Carolina.  My 1 year cancerversary is coming up on Wednesday, and I wasn't sure how I'd react to being back up here this year.....so far so good.

    Hope everyone is doing well!

Jena - I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers that the BMX goes well! Are you doing any reconstruction at the same time or waiting/not doing that?

jena - sending positive thoughts your way. I had mine back in 2011. might be a blessing to get this one done separately so you can recover more easily. if you have any questions, i'm sure those of us who have been through it can answer them. if it is any consolation, i told my GS that i would rather have had another mastectomy rather another round of chemo! :) will be sending positive thoughts your way.

wanted to share some relatively positive news after my recent PET. only one axillary lymph node lit up (identical in size and uptake as it was on my last two scans in January and May). my tumor markers have dropped and stayed very low and nothing else lit up on the scan (not even the area of my bone met). my treatment team feels this might not be mets because it has remained the same. if it was cancer and the treatment wasn't working, they would expect the node to grow, new areas to develop, or my TM to rise again. if the treatment was working, they would've expected it to shrink. so it looks like a biopsy for me at this point, and i don't quite note what that entails because of the location of the node, but i am encouraged by the other good news.

nbnotes - wanted to do DIEP reconstruction, but ro wants to radiate post surgery......have to wait. :( They are going to put in expanders until after rads. who knows how long this whole ordeal is going to last...Nervous,but ready to get rid of the area where this started.

cjrt- great news!! keep us updated. I don't know much about how they do biopsies...may want to check out bone met thread. I have only had biopsy done to T9 vert, but i was asleep. This was done during kyphoplasty surgery. Thanks for your support..good to talk to people who understand.

Aic- thanks for sending the goodness...lol. You guys are great!! So thankful for the support.

Hi Ladies!  So encouraged to read about real people who are close to my age and actually understand what this journey feels like as a young woman, mother, wife, etc.  I'm so tired of being the youngest person at the oncology office and getting "that pity look" everytime I walk in.

When i had my ovaries removed, I also went ahead and had a complete hysterectomy at the age of 33.  I have not had bad side effects at all- just the hot flashes, which my Effexor helps keep in check.  Compared to all of the cancer tx and surgeries we've all been through- this surgery was a breeze.

I also just had reconstruction (again) on my left side.  The first reconstruction was immediate with expanders and allografts.  My body rejected the foreign materials and I developed toxic shock and had to have everything removed.  So I've been with an open-wound indention on my left side for the past year.  I decided it was time to have it fixed.  Whether I'm stage IV with bone mets or not, I'm 33 and deserve to feel like a woman- and my husband deserves a wife who's body isn't damaged (not that he would ever say that). I was not a candidate for a DIEP due to the increased risk of blood clots with abdominal surgery and with a history of blood clots, I was out.  So, I just had a latissimus flap procedure along with an expander.  Surgery went great.  i am now 3 weeks out.  We are ready to begin filling the expander.  When the expander is the size we want, and we do the implant exchange, my PS is going to do whatever he needs to my remaining right breast so that they will match.  I jokingly told him that after everything I've been through he better fix me up nice!  LOL.

Anyway, thank you for this thread.  I just wanted to pipe in and say hello and share my reconstructive and hysterectomy experiences for those of you ready to make those decisions.

    Blessings to all of you!
