ndgirl, In the bag for you on Monday. Lots of benign things are lumps, so best wishes. I don't think any of us ever has a mammo without being nervous. Enjoy your visit.

zills, Exercise should help. All the shrinks recommend it. How is firebob? How much protein are you getting? When I'm down, I crave carbs and get into the up/crash cycle. The up doesn't last long and the crash does.

Ndgirl, I'll be there too... Wren is right and I'm sorry you're having to worry about this until Monday.  In the mid 60's here today too after a cold week and  back to crap weather tomorrow.

Zils, I wish i knew how to help you run off the F funk.... I know you've been struggling with it for awhile and that has to be a total pain in the @ss. Yoga may help.. many people  swear by it for peace of mind... can't hurt I suppose.

PRB good to see you! Sorry you are having issue, hopefully it will  turn out to be nothing.... let us know. how you make out.  Besides that though sounds like you're kicking some butt otherwise!  Enjoy your trip :)

M, sorry Bec had such a crappy trip. but glad she made it safe and sound.. give her a hug from all of us!!  I bet the burgundy hair looks amazing, red I wasn't so sure about!!    I bet you made  a killing on the yard sale!!! Can't wait to hear about it.

JSJ you are kicking some serious butt!!  So happy for you and will be even more so when you get the last of the drains out!

Wren, how did it go with the kitties?  Amazing what you do.. I have to give my cat meds now and I am such a wimp I keep putting it off and putting it off.

Bobogirl, where the hell are you?  Missing you!

    Hollyboo how are you feeling??

    Good Morning all!

nd, I'm there with you too, bloody, shitful, lumps and bumps. I am hoping it is scar tissue. I know how you must be feeling.

Zills, I have heard Yoga is the thing, so I start my class on Thursday too. I hope the egg hunt was fantastic. I saw one here  on the news  that was a field just strewn with little eggs and lots of toddlers with buckets. Each of the little children were carefully picking up one at a time, inspecting it and putting it in the basket, while the parents scooped up handfuls, too funny.

Well, the yard sale was a roaring success. I hardly slept the night before, I kept dreaming I ran out of change or that people were trying to steal things It was a terrible night, so I got up and started to prepare. We had set up some of the stuff, but there was so much, we had kept it in the garage, in case anyone got in during the night. We had it advertised for 9am but there were cars lined up and people looking over the fence at 7am, but we didn't let anyone in till about 10 to 9. It was chaos, but we managed to keep it under control, there were 6 of us selling and taking money, for the first couple of hours. Except for a new bike and couch, I sold everything for from $1-$5 and even at those prices I ended up with just under $900, so that gives you an idea of how much stuff was actually sold! We still have quite a lot of stuff boxed up and ready for the Opp shop, so they will make something out of it too. Next Thursday it will get picked up and I will have a nice, completely tidy house for the first time since we moved here. Well almost, I still have a lot of bags for Ebay.

I didn't get out of it unscathed, I was beyond tired at the end of it and even invoked the Claw! I have an arthritis flare which has knocked me around a bit. My right hand and wrist is swollen and so stiff and sore, from the repetitive money changing! LOL I even took pain killers! Not like me, at all.  However, it was so worth it, to move so much and the windfall is nice too!

I won't be doing too much today!

I   hope all of you are having a nice Easter break...chat later..M x

Idesim, Are you giving pills or liquid to your kitty? If pills, try pill pockets. If liquid, there's a spot at the back of their gums where you can put the medicine. It goes right down their throat. You do have to scruff them to do it. Then follow with a treat, or extra petting. Something your cat will look forward to. I know how you feel though. That's why I never get kitty's claws trimmed. Just don't look forward to it and put it off until it's really a big job.

Ariom, Congrats on your yard sale. We had one once and people came and said "Oh, we got rid of that long ago." They probably did too, because a couple of people who live here tend to be pack rats.

I satisfied my desire for something new and spring-ish by getting a nice flowered scarf. It has so many colors, it basically goes with almost anything. It often doesn't get warm here until July 5. July 4 is famous for rain and cold. One year we got the wool blanket off the spare tire to wrap in while we watched the fireworks. It's supposed to be warm and dry here this summer. We shall see.

Wow M, that was a lotta crap sold lol!  Sorry you wore yourself down, but it sounds like it was worth it.  Hope you rest up and are back to yourself real soon.  I can't believe they were lining up 2 hours early!!

Wren, we started off with  liquid thinking it would be easier. That was a joke.. we tried hiding it in his food and after a day and a half, he wasn't falling for it, so we just gave it to him and he foamed at the mouth and ran around the house spitting it up.  So we threw out the liquid and got pills but haven't given it to him yet.  Got the greenie pill pockets, but he doesn't like them.  He does like the catnip greenies, but no pocket, so I'll try mashing it in his food, it's only 1/4 of a pill so hopefully easy to hide.  The problem with him is he's not an eater, except if its a plant.  Will sometimes lick the juice from tuna or sardines, won't touch any other table food.. no turkey, no chicken, nothing.  Makes it a bit difficult to give him a treat.

The scarf sounds pretty.. I can't imagine needing a blanket in July!

    Hiya JSJ!

Hello Idesim! Hope all is well in your neck of the woods. Zills~thank you for the sweet card. It brought a smile. I am trying not to overdo it, but it feels good to get out and about. Was really tired after todays treck and took a two hour nap. My drains are stinging tonight. We went running errands this afternoon. We had to go to Home Depot, Walgreens, and the grocery store for a couple of things. Walked forever it seems and the store  didn't carry the frozen bread dough so we ended up at Walmart after all. Wren~ hope you are doing well I bet the new scarf is lovely.

It's impossible not to overdo it.. napping is good.  I remember going grocery shopping 2 or 3 days after surgery... I despise grocery shopping, but in this instance it felt good to just go out and do something normal... drains and all. Oh boy did fatigue hit me hard for that one.  I do remember the stinging drains, hopefully the rest will  be out soon.

Hope those of you celebrating Easter have a wonderful day.. I am heading to my mother's house for the day.

    *hugs*

wow M. That was quite the haul. I bet you are exhausted but happy. Hope you have no more reprocussions.

Idesim. Have fun at your moms and don't eat too much. Hopefully she planned ahead and got everything. My Walmart ran out of rolls, vanilla wafers and had cleared the shelves of Easter candy earlier in the week. Better not procrastinate around here!

Yes JSJ it's very easy to overdo it. I remember hitting the wall at Walmart and I was just directing what needed to go in the buggy.

Wren. Thanks for the advice. Not getting enough hard sweaty exercise. Not even getting a nice stroll in every day. Protein is iffy too. Not hungry, then too tired to eat, so get crap to power thru.

Wouldn't like a blanket for July but would love the low humidity.

Firebob is a saint. The boy likes to hide with him in the back of the car. The boy has learned to stay quiet so I haven't thought to look there. He's also been snuck into the house, twice today!

The egg drop really is an egg drop. The eggs were taped shut. Most were tossed around but the last bag was emptied from the fire truck in a big pile.

Mine came home with 5 or 6 eggs that they could eat. It was a beautiful day. It was right next to a play ground so they had fun. DJ played good music.

Both are coughing now. She was up at 4 yesterday morning.  Afraid a bug is going around or really bad allergies.

Wish me luck. Sick kids on a holiday weekend. Might need to ask the Easter bunny for an extra large coffee and Popsicles.

Hi girls, since I have Bec here and she can put anything up for me. Colin is usually busy and I have to wait.

Anyway, I thought you may like this, since some of you like Koalas. Still not my fave animal, but this is a cutie! I don't know how far away the trees are. but these little guys only eat one kind of Eucalyptus and spend most of their time in the trees sleeping. I am not seeing any trees on this cattle station.

We have the occasional Koala that swims over here from the Island, so they are reasonable swimmers!

Happy Easter to those who observe.  Woke up at 5 am and have been wandering so I decided to drop a note off to you all...the most greatest ladies I know!  I haven't been posting during this hellish chemo as I am either too out of it or I feel that all I do is complain and whine which bores me not to mention you!  I do read daily and love seeing everyone!

Zills, I have been remiss and hope you will forgive my late thank you for the lovely card!  Please know it brightened my day and I carry it with me in my chemo bag.  You are so thoughtful!  Hope you all got to enjoy the Easter fun. Have an extra coffee for me- I miss it so!  I miss the holidays with the little ones-no one has any candy to steal now!

M, I know you and your sweet Bec are having a wonderful holiday together. I love the photo of the  Koala!  I heard they can be a bit mean when they want to be.  Is that true?  Everything we see about them is always cute and loving.  Congrats on your successful yard sale!

Jsj, I do hope you have been monitoring your activity level.  I know that I always overdo everything and pay the price later.  Walmart is my nemesis!  By the third food isle I am hunched over the cart hanging on in a death grip telling my DH that I am fine and just like strolling through this way.  I just can't give up grocery shopping!  Praying those drains will be history soon!

Nd, in the bag for Monday!  So sorry you had to wait through the holiday.  I know how excruciating it is!

Wren, how is Goldie doing?  I hadn't realized  how long your cold season was.  I hope you get a touch of spring there soon.  Your new scarf sounds lovely.

Idealism, I somehow lost the fact that you too have a kitty.  I can't image a cat who doesn't eat tuna.  Sorry the weather is turning on you all up there.  Yesterday was a high of 49 here!  We don't do cold in April here! These are serious dress up in light clothes and Easter bonnet people here.  I think they are all in shock this morning!

PRB, hope you had a great trip!  Hoping all is well with you and you are feeling better!

Hi to Bobo, holly, grammarB, Dawny, fiaranch, vintage, football nut, rambling, and  everyone else my chemo brain left off.

Okay ladies I really need you in the bag on Wednesday.  It might be my last chemo cocktail, but I am balking at it like a terrified child because I know what comes after.  So, come along and give me some courage to go one more round! ( I really could use a drink- dreaming about piña coladas and I am a Johnnie Walker kinda gal.  What is up with that?) love you all, S

Just lost a long post, grrr!

Happy Easter everyone! I hope you're all having a beautiful weekend!

sgc, in the bag for your chemo on Wednesday!  Almost done!

M, congrats on the yard sale!  That's a lot of $1-$5 items! Enjoy your time with Bec and thanks for the koala picture!

nd, in the bag for you tomorrow. Fingers crossed until you get the results. It's amazing how, even after the breast(s) is gone, the few remaining cells can cause us concern or problems.. Haven't we done enough?! :-)

wren, I love reading the Goldie updates and love that she's so content and happy with you!

idesim, have fun at your mother's house. Is she doing better than a few months ago?

PRB, great to see you back. I hope the IBS symptoms turn out to be nothing special. Do you have an apt scheduled yet with your gyno/onc? Did the dr recommend something to reduce the discomfort/pain in the meantime?

Zills, good luck with the sick kids, I hope it's only a cold.

jsj, I hope the recovery is still going well. What a big shopping trip you did, so soon after surgery! Yeah, those drains are annoying and can be painful, only another week maybe and they should be gone!

congrats dawny on NED!! That's fantastic news!

Hi gB, bobo, hollyboo, vintage, and everyone else!

All is good here. We had an Easter Egg hunt organized by the neighbourhood parents on Friday, there were 150 people and lots of eggs for the kids!  Our weekend mornings are busy in the spring with ball hockey games for DS, and DH is assistant coach this year. They are both having a blast! We went to DH's family yesterday for an early Easter gathering, good time. FIL had organized an Easter egg hunt that was more of a hunt for gifts, and DS got a bunch of Legos so he's in heaven! He's busy building them now, not even interested in breakfast yet which is very odd for this always hungry boy!

My father is coming this week for my next chemo (which is Thursday). He wants to help but really, there's nothing to do. He will be relieved to see me though, see that we're doing fine, and see me bald for the first time. And we'll be happy to spend time with him!

    Have a great Easter!

Zills hope whatever the little ones have passes quickly.  Sending healing thoughts their way.

Hugs for everyone else I have missed.  I need to run as I have one more thing to make to take to dinner at my friend's house this evening and I am running out of time!!

M, love the koala pic.. they don't look real do they!

Looks like we'll all be spending a lot of time together this week.. Wren, maybe you can teach me to crochet while we wait :)

Zils, hoping the kids are feeling better... do you pretend the Easter bunny visits?

Sgc, yeah I have two kitties.. I know.. even though Easter is late this year, it's still pretty cold for it... I bet we'll go right into summer after a very short spring.  So long as it's not snow.. I'm not complaining!   Maybe you're associating pina coladas with warm weather and beaches.. only one more to go.. so glad to hear that.. sorry you have had trouble, but it's almost over and it will be out of the way for summertime.  Is treatment finished for you after this?

Otceb, how many more for you?  Hoping this is all drawing to a close for you soon as well.

    GB, enjoy your dinner!

Had an enjoyable day today, a very small gathering, must Joe, myself, my mother & brother.  We laughed quite a lot which was nice.  We didn't stay too long, my brother was dying to get home and watch the bruins and I am still down with this nasty cold.,

Driving through Boston was a nightmare.. its just wall to wall ppl with the Marathon going on tomorrow.  I'm just happy for the extra day off!  Hopefully it's a safe day for everybody, but I think anybody is crazy that goes in town to watch it!

idesim, are you a Bruins fan like your brother? If so, I hope my Canadiens meet you in the next round!! Hahaha! ;) Hopefully all goes well tomorrow at the marathon, it's incredible that you were on your way back from getting your drains out when the whole thing happened last year. I don't think you will forget that day any time soon. Hugs!

sgc, yes, can't wait for the steroids...not!  I just have 2 left: this one, then last chemo on May 15.  Seems like it's lasting forever, but I see the end.  I think the summer will be long with the wig, tamox, and whatever swimsuit & foobs I'll eventually get for the few times I'll swim (which will likely not be in public unless I want to flaunt my baldness??)

hey zills, I'm starting to relate about the lack of energy. But I think it's just the accumulation of chemo drugs for me. Even if I've been running regularly, I'm in worse shape now than 3 months ago, I get out of breath quickly. And I don't have the energy I usually have, I just crashed at 4:30 today (2 hrs before you!) after a day of yard work and cleaning. Or maybe my expectations are too high?!

gB, I hope you had a great dinner at your friend's place!

    Hi jsj!

nd, yes, spring will likely be short this year but I'm enjoying every little bit we get!

    Good night!

So quiet here.  Feel like I should whisper!  Lol

Idesim- wish I could say I was finished after this week.  After another echo I will go back on Herceptin until January 2015 by my calculations.  No one is talking about the next steps.  Rads? Pills?  I do not know, but I plan to find out as soon as possible. I have felt like I am in the dark (or at least gray) about so much throughout this journey.  It's like no one wants to put it all on the table or lay it out.

OTC- I haven't been able to figure out what I will do about swimming.  I do not have foobs, have no information about where to get them, or how to buy a bathing suit.  Do suits come with a bit of fiberfill?  I don't wear my wig.  It bothers me and I have used scarves or gone bald throughout.  I guess I will need a cool hat for the summer as my son has told me that a sunburned head is miserable.  Coordinating a summer look is going to be a challenge on the coast of Virginia! Lol.

Wren- I love to crochet!  Nothing overly involved, but I have been known to make a quilt or two!  One of these days I will learn to make something a bit more fancy.

Ariom- so glad you and Bec are having so much fun!  What a joy!

Well I have got to run for now.  Hugs {{{{}}} to all.  S

Shhh... sgc.. keep it down will ya?  Herceptin on it's own isn't bad at all.. just an inconvenience, I'm in my 2nd year of that  I don't recall your age, but you'll probably be put on Tamoxifen for at least 5 years..... that one is a crapshoot.. some people have lots of SE's, others not many or  none.  Luckily I am on the none so far and almost have a year down.  I will be on that for 10 years.  As far as rads... you may very well have bypassed that one.. although I'm not sure if node involvement warrants rads.  I believe the only reason I had to have the rads is because it had surfaced to my skin, not because it had gone to a couple of nodes.

I have no personal experience to share on the swimming subject as I have not navigated that terrain yet.  I have heard chat about mastectomy suits from Lands End and I believe using bath poufs sewn in as the foob.

Maybe bathing caps for the head? haha.. do they even sell those anymore? I remember the old ladies at the pool growing up... with those bathing caps with a big plastic flower on the side.

be back shortly, still finishing laundry.

I am wearing my suit from last year. It has a soft cup bra and holds it shape even without anything in it and a two year old pulling on it. I am considering a rash guard t or a tankini for the beach so I can chase sea monkeys.

It's the straps that get me because my port is high and I don't like things around my neck. Besides I can see one of them untying it:)

I was never a hat person until last summer. Scarves were fine for spring but too hot quickly. My favorites were either a white ball cap with rhinestones or a pink straw hat with holes in the design and a small brim. I didn't like doo rags or bandanas. I did have a heavy duty wide brimmed hat if I was going to be out long but the heat and humidity wore me out quickly.

The white rhinestone was a gift. I first wore it to be polite. Not anything I would have picked out. It soon became my favorite and matched most everything.

I was told since our bodies have changed, we should try stuff that's not our usual style.

Hi all! Congratulations on the Marathon! Was thinking about ldesim when I saw the minute's silence on the News, that was so scary last year!

Thinking about nd today, I hope all is fine! It is so shit, everything has to scare us now, and more waiting, F waiting.

I have been reading and I am in the bag, in spirit, for whoever needs me!

I got over my RA flare and I am feeling great, so onward and upward!

    Hi Bobo!

I can't believe Bec's holiday is over half way through. It has been so much fun having her here. It has been too chilly to get out on the water and she has been content to stay around here. I would have liked to take her to see some things she hasn't seen, in the area, but she likes it at home.

I got set up for swimming in our Summer. Lands End do some nice suits with a high neck and pockets, so do Amoena and there are often, really nice suits on Ebay for great prices. There are options of clear silicone Prosthesis that have a wave design on the rear of the form to prevent slurping noises as you swim through the water, very thoughtful of the manufacturer..eh! You can make the bath pouff form, or there are micro bead ones that are completely water proof. If you are wanting to go flat, the suits made for racing are really well cut to sit high on the chest, with straps that don't fall down. Speedo is the main brand over here but there are lots available. Then there is the normal swimsuit with the pockets for those modesty pad things that can take a small form. I don't find these too useful as they are usually cut to show cleavage. I did find a nice bandeau style one that I had bought for a cruise, which I can wear with a micro bead foob in it. It has a stay or bone in the side that holds it up well, but I doubt I could actually swim in that one, but for sitting around a pool or just getting wet it would be fine.

There really is so much out there, if you spend the time researching it, it is just scattered far and wide!

    Take it easy everyone...M x

Yeah last year's marathon I do remember quite vividly.. when I got home and found out what had happened and how close I was to it.. I was shaking from head to toe.  It also snapped me out of any thoughts I might have had for feeling sorry for myself hearing of the loss of lives and limbs made my problems seem insignificant.

All set for ND's visit tomorrow.. have some beer for Bobogirl, have a hankie in case Zils drools and have some mani/pedi supplies so M can do us all up :)  Been brushing up on my cribbage.. probably been about 15 years since I last played.  15, 2, 15, 4, pair for 6.  Something like 29 being a perfect hand?

Otceb, no I don't follow the Bruins, my sister in law is obsessed tho, I've never seen anybody so into hockey like that girl.  Only two more for you left!!! woohoo!!!

Zils, same ... never wore hats.. lived in them for a year and probably will never wear them again haha.

M, glad your RA flare went away quickly, especially with Bec there... so glad you guys are almost peeing yourselves, you two must be funny to watch :)

The marathon was won by an American for the first time in almost 30 years and he is like a month shy of 39... 40 being considered elderly for a marathon.  He had the names of 4 of last years victims on his bib and he is donating $10k to the family of the little boy killed last year.  I was in tears for the woman who one the wheelchair division for the 2nd time and more tears for the American woman who everybody was looking to win and who was a favorite.  She had an incredibly strong lead for 17 miles and then couldn't recover from heartbreak hill.  The most tears however was for the man who crumpled on the ground at the 26th mile, very close to where the bombs hit last year.  Four other runners picked him up and carried him the last few hundred feet to the finish line.
