Oh no, fried green tomatoes are wonderful. We dip them in panko batter and fry them in a skillet. They have a tart taste, which I love. It's hard to do with the little cherry tomatoes, but they usually get ripe anyway. Our climate is cool and rainy, so getting ripe tomatoes requires a lot of luck. In the fall some people pull the entire plant up and hang it upside down in a cool place (such as a garage). Some ripen that way but not many. I grew up in Oklahoma which is hot and dry, so I miss the crops that do well there.

ldesim, what's going on? Posting in the wrong Forum...Twice:) You crack me up!

I am almost at my first check up. I realised that when he said every 6 months, I was at my follow up after surgery, so 6 months is actually tomorrow for me since my surgery. I can't believe it, the time has flown. Not like the lead up to the f'ing biopsy, and surgery, and final path, that felt like a year and a half. My first check will be 7 months since the op. Just a few days after my 60th Yay....not:)

Mosquitoes, f them! I hate mossies, ldesim, girls, I have to confess, we are mossie paradise here too. Our neighbours have a huge cypress hedge, every time I go near it, you can hear them like a sqaudron of planes coming at you. Colin has never been bothered by them, but now he has them attacking him too. I sit there slapping him around the head, sometimes there's a mossie there too!

I am getting a picture of Bostonians now too. Cranky, tourist haters, sounds like Melbourne. OMG, bitching about the weather and taxes, it's making me homesick for Melbourne....not! I left Melbourne to get away from all that. I have landed in paradise, even if a tad Stepford, everyone is just so nice, but it is all real! Ha Ha  Did I tell you, the bus company that runs a service to Bairnsdle, which is the next big town has a cell number on the timetable. You call that and the bus comes to your house, yes, your house, and takes you to Bairnsdale. There are several pick up points in Bairnsdale, duh, I mean bus stops. You get on and the bus driver brings you back and drops you at your front gate. I am in awe, have you ever heard of such a thing?  Just one more Paynesville story, I am sorry, but I just can't believe it. Last Saturday night, I was making dinner, and looked up when I heard a loud bang. Outside, in the sky was an amazing fireworks display. It was brilliant and went for quite a few minutes with many different colors and patterns. We watched with the lights out, and speculated as to what it was for. A wedding perhaps, or a milestone birthday of someone at the cruiser boat club. We discovered later that no, it was in honor of the under 9 and 12years football teams who were playing the next day. WTF? Maybe stuff like that happens where you all are, but I am from the city, and it never happens there. You're lucky if the bus actully stops for you, when you're at the stop!

You are right ldesim, there are few stores that don't excite me. Sports stores, or anything sports related get the raspberry from me. I hate sports.

Yes, I have been blessed with great jobs over the years, great experiences, and wonderful people in my life. My poor parents, they had a tough time with me. My Dad was very worldly, and well traveled. He was a chief engineer both in the Navy, and on cruise ships. He told me stories of his life at sea which only drove me to experience everything I could. I left school the minute the clock struck my 15th birthday! They were forward thinking parents. Knowing school was not my forte, but my desire to get into an apprenticeship had been there since I was kid. The plan was to get my hairdressing and beauty certificates, and work on the big cruise liners. The stories at my Father's knee had given me ideas of traveling the world.

I just came back to edit this. I forgot to continue and say that the dream didn't eventuate, because I had so many allergies to the chemicals in the products we used. Especially the color. I loved working in the color room, but I only got two years into the apprenticeship before I had to give it up. That was when I had to look at other career options. The rest is history, as they say.

My Mother was very different, a housewife and Mother who had no desire to travel. She was a beautiful, sophisticated lady who loved to entertain.  Although she was able to travel with Dad as he was an officer, she never enjoyed it. Dad made the decision to give the sea away, because he wanted to be there for me growing up. That took him on a different journey, and we ended up in Australia.

Funnily enough, after I was grown my Mother got a little job, it wasnt long till she was managing this shop which sold all kinds of eclectic imported housewares. She decided to take a trip to Scotland to see the family she had left, and that was it, she was bitten by the travel bug, and covered the world over the years. I wondered how dad really felt about that. Och! he was such a gentleman, he'd never say a word.

You'd be surprised by this country town ldesim, it isn't like the usual country towns I have experienced. Virtually no one is from here. Most people I meet are from somewhere else, and they arrived here just as we did, by accident. It is one of those places that you drive into, and immediately relax. I remember saying "I could live here!" when we arrived in the town for the very first time. Not even contemplating moving here.

My friends in Melbourne can't believe I haven't been back since we arrived here just over a year ago. I think they were taking bets that I wouldn't cope with the quiet, and would want my old life back, but it is just the opposite. I am entranced by this place and the landscape, and of course the water. I am a cancerian, so the water is my sign. I wish we had found this place years ago. It was just meant to be.

Now the "Humpy Back Spider" is me when I am at my angry, worst. On the phone, and strutting, with hand gestures to get my point across. Colin wants to buy me a headset so I can fully flip the bird, ugly face, at the same time! It was actually one of my ex husbands who named it the Humpyback Spider, he's a stand up comedian....another story!

I don't know, the olives start off green and then go a dark colour. We only had about six on one of the little trees this year. Barry, the delivery man assures me that next year he will be able to use some of mine in the mix. I don't know if he is just humoring me because I am so excited by the things I have grown. There is a big Fig an Apple, Pear and Grapefruit, Kaffir Lime, Lemon, and some native trees, but the garden has many many Camelias, all blooming right now,  the garden is carpeted by their petals from the rain. It is just lovely. I have added a bit of a tropical edge to the garden, it was quite formal. I have planted clumping Bamboos, Cocos Palms, and Bangalow palms, lots of Nandina, and sacred Bamboo for color.   Next Spring should be interesting when they have all established.

I am sorry, I have written a novel. that's what you get when you ask me questions!

    Take care...chat later!

Wren, thank you for telling Bobo about your Endometrial biopsy. I have no experience with that. It won't be bad Bobo, but you're going to have to wear something with big pockets for all of us to fit in.

Just lie back and imagine the techs all naked, and doing their job. It will pass quickly, and you'll be out and gone. Get a wheatbag or a hottie (water bottle) in preparation for cramps, and Tylenol!

Oh. the mention of Tylenol reminds me of another story. I had the ectopic pregnancy in the USA. I am sorry to say that I went to emergency rooms in Vegas, and then in LA, even had  a Doctor come to see me in SFO. They all said it as a bug, take Tylenol an ddrink Gatorade. I knew it wasn't a bug, so I flew home early, feeling ghastly. My Gyno had me in Hospital the next morning, and I lost both fallopian tubes, but was otherwise unscathed. The really weird part was that the rings that the Gyno had put on, to tie my tubes 7 years earlier, were still in place. We still don't know how that happened, it was on the other side of the ring! To this day, I gag, if I see a bottle of Gatorade!

I totally agree Wren! I do that yoga exercise too, in bed. I learned it at Meditation class, but it's the same thing, and it works.

Well, I have been here for ages, two cups of tea, and McVitties Oatcakes for afternoon tea.

    I'll be off, and I hope I haven't missed anyone..........I'll check back later...M x

I love McVitties and I'd be jealous but just received a care package from Ireland with them and Barry's tea. I tried a ginger nut and it seems to be helping or this blog has me so distracted.

My grandmother was very frugal and besides frying the green tomatoes would make them into jam using jello for flavoring. I didn't like the texture and have never been a big jello fan. I've heard you can wrap them individually in newspaper and keep them in the dark and they ripen when you bring them out. I feel for you. Nothing beats fresh tomatoes and corn. There's some grandfather that grows a huge garden at the end of the road and sells the surplus so that's my version of the farmers market. Not as much variety but very close to home. I bet he would even deliver!

I used to participate in a CSA basket where you buy shares from a farmer and they give you a bushel of whatever weekly. It was great to try new things but I didn't get my fill of corn or tomatoes. We did accidentally grow pumpkins in our front yard last year. They came up from the previous years jack o' lantern. Had 11 of them. The leaves were huge and hid them well in the grass.

Bobo. I second the hot water bottle or a heating pad. I've had several gyno procedures and 600 mgs of ibuprofen worked for me and it makes you sleepy. Take something before and after. Anticipation is worse than reality. We are made of tough stuff.

And yes both are adopted. He was fostered and she was private. Both moms did what was best for the child and gave us the best gifts ever two years in a row! The adoptions were final a year apart at Christmas.

The jury is still out on the baby. I think the fever is too high for teething but she's sleeping and hopefully will make it all night, unlike me. My sister will be here in the morning to help.

If you have recon, you can use your tissue and get it from the tummy or the back. I guess it can be done the same time as mx? So you have to find panties to fit between the incisions or none. Not sure as it wasn't an option for me and I don't want any more surgeries. I find strange things funny in the middle of the night.

Ndgirl: I too have bad sleep habits. Trazadone worked for me and it still works for my sister. Ask your dr. Avitan is for nerves and nausea. That was given at my last chemo and it helped. I only take baby doses as I'm very sensitive. I've also tried visual imagery. It worked for awhile. The latest is to hold your thumb with your other four fingers for 5 minutes. It's to reduce worry. I have paper instructions from my Jin Shin lady if you would like a copy. I have found it helpful. I'm so sorry about your DIL.

I'm feeling sleepy now. This blog is a lifesaver. Keeps the night monsters away. Sleep well at least for a little while:)

Oh Zills. I love McVitties, my Mother used to eat them with butter. I like them nude.

How funny, I had pumpkins and squash, and loads of tomatoes as a surprise. We removed the old compost and some big trees when we bought the house. I couldn't work out what was growing, at lightning speed, in the new garden beds. It turned out to be rogue veggies! I gave the biggest pumpkin to one of the tradesmen who'd been working here. His wife said it was the best Pumpkin soup ever.

I had an adopted teen. He was an amazing part of my life for many years. He passed away in SFO Oct 2010. I miss him every day.

You're so right about the anticipation being worse than the event. Are you listening  Bobo?

She's our Punk Princess, Zills, she's tough, but this one has her nervous. I am sending positive healing thoughts to everyone right now.

Take care everyone, I hope you all get to sleep, that your baby gets through the night without waking, and the fever is gone tomorrow, Zills!

What is a v pillow? Is it like a boppy pillow that you use for babies?

I'll have my friend go to the co-op and look for the lotions and potions. Is there different types of lavender? I bought some oil and didn't like it. I guess I can always sniff Johnson and Johnson lavender baby wash.

Never tried McVs with butter. Love the dark chocolate ones but sweets don't appeal right now. Just chicken, English muffins with butter, mashed potatoes and grape flavored apples. They taste like grape Popsicles or grape jolly ranchers. When I can't taste they are still crisp and juicy. Look them up under grapples.

OK, I am way behind and no way can I catch up. I know two guys who have lost testicles to cancer. Both choose to "go flat" like us ;).

Another friend is an actor and was acting in a play where she had to take off her shirt at some point and appear topless. They have stunt bras for that, with nippes and everything. Hmmm, that could really work for us now, couldn't it?

Zills, the V pillow is shaped like a big smooshy V. I guess it is like the type we used to use for breast feeding, but I find I can use it turned all different ways to get comfy. I just googled it and lots of photos came up. It is a comfort V pillow, filled with microfibre.

Don't want to freak you out, but was reading just a few days ago that J&J have had their license for making cosmetic items suspended because they were caught out using harmful chemicals in the production of their products. I am not certain if it was the US FDA. Their baby oil is pure mineral oil with fake fragrance, but I am unsure of the ingredients in the lavender baby wash. If it says parfum or fragrance it is usually fake. Lavender essential oil is perfect. There are different grades of essential oils, but so long as they are the pure oils, they are always better than the Fragrance. All pure essential oils, except Lavender have to be in a carrier oil before putting directly on the skin.

Roman Cammomile, or Clary Sage are a couple of oils used for sleep. I have seen lots of pre mixed sleep oils that appear to be helpful. I always use my Be Relieved at bed time, on my shoulders and always on the soles of my feet. They say it goes in through your feet and relaxes you. When my Mother was in the final stages of Dementia. I used to massage her feet with Be Rekieved, and had oils burning in her room.  I believe it made her more comfortable.

Aromatherapists say, if you smell and oil and don't like it, it isn't one you need. I love aromatherapy, I suffered a lot of allergies, through working in hairdressing, and in cosmetic departments where there was perfume constantly in the air. I don't think I mentioned, in my long post that my Cruise Ship dreams wre shattered whn I couldn't finish the apprenticeship because of the allergies. That's where the other "career options" came from.

I haven't had dark chocolate McVitties for ages. The ones I am talking about are plain. no chocolate.

I am going to check the grapples, they sound fantastic.

I recently bought a food dehydrator, but haven't done anything in it yet. I have intentions of doing the fruit from the garden, but it may go the way of the breadmaker and lots of other appliances, that I bought too. Thankfully, this house has heaps of storage:) One day!

Momine! great to see you. How are you doig?

We have been really prolific today!

I had never thought of men going flat after testical removal, but then I'd never thought about the prosthesis either. I've never known anyone in that situation.

I stumbled into a website while searching for prosthesis that had those strap on breast thingies. The ones I saw had headlights "ON" big time! I can see how they would work, toned down a little.

I forgot about Bach's Rescue Remedy. It's made from flowers and perfectly safe. I think they even make some for anxious dogs (thunderstorms). I tried it a long time ago for nerves and it worked but never got to town to get more. I would think they sell it at Whole Foods or Trader Joes. At least that type of store. Not sure what's in your area. I think they have different varieties.

Thinking of you Bobo. We'll be cramps together. Not sure if that's helpful.

It's rainy here so I'm hoping both the baby, my sister and I can nap. Not sure if its ears or teeth but she slept all night. She's a shoe diva and has brought them over to put on.

This thread is out of control, I love it, so much to read, so much to learn, filled with laughter, and a few tears. Some big movie maker is going to stumble upon us, and make a mint off our lives. They just better share the royalties. Of course we each would have to play ourselves, there's no way they could find actresses with our unique physiques, and personalities.

Is it actually raining all over the world? It sure seems like it. The roof didn't leak, or at least I don't think it did, I'm not going into the attic to inspect.

Fried green tomatoes are on the menu of lots of down home, soul food restaurants here. Panko is basically bread crumbs. I've never made the fried tomatoes, don't like the texture. Give me a red ripe juicy tomato, a bit of fresh Basil, drizzle of olive oil, pinch of sea salt, and watch me smile. Which reminds me my tomato plants still need to be staked. Damn there is always something I forget to do.

Seems as if I'm going to be a Grandma again. My little girl is pregnant. She dated this weasel all through high school. He broke her heart, de-railed her life, fathered another child with his next girlfriend. We had 4 blissful years without him, then a year ago he reared his ugly head, "charming" ways again, and she allowed him back into her life and heart, and evidently her bed. We had dinner with them and his family last night. One of the few sentences his mom said in English was, "when's the wedding" My reply, "there will Not be a damn wedding, that way when your weasel screws up again, he can be kicked to the curb without any paper work." Thank you Femara for once kicking in at the appropriate moment!!!!! I know with time we will come to terms with this and enjoy another precious child in our lives. Im just afraid for my little girls heart and health right now.

The pharmacy just opened, OG took his last pain meds 3 hours ago, I best go get the new prescription filled before he starts howling.

Hugs, everyone. Hopefully this time I can actually return and finish this post. Sorry for my rant, and Gutter Gums, I know y'all understand when the outside world doesn't.

Ariom, What's a mossie? Panko is a breading mix used in Asian recipes. It leaves a light crispy crust. One hamburger place here makes panko coated fried mushrooms.

Zills, When we lived in Houston, DH would wait until the water was boiling to go buy the corn from our neighbor. MIL was from Georgia and cooked southern food. She was trying to grow a tomato in Alaska. Every morning someone took the pot out and placed it in the sun. Every evening it came back inside. I don't know if she ever got tomatoes.

I'm so allergic to some perfumes that I'm afraid to even try aromatherapy. DH has to buy our soap because I can't walk down that aisle. There's one perfume that gives me a stabbing headache before I can smell it.

Your post is fine Granwe.. don't even worry about it.

Granwe, as one of my bosses says.. "from your lips to God's ears"... We'd all get rich from movie royalties haha.  Actually Moira would be the star, we'd all be just extras.

Should we send Bobogirl to go kick his ass?  A child is always a blessing, so congratulations are in order on the news, but I am sorry it isn't the best of circumstances and I hope she doesn't get hurt too badly or have her health suffer.  Did you say all that out loud to the parents? lol... loving it.  it appears Femara is a good thing at times, I could use a little of it myself to tell a few people off that are long deserving of it.

Are Green tomatos a type of tomato or just a tomato that hasn't fully ripened?  I know this is popular down South, but I have never tried them.  One of my fav things is a tomato and cheese with mayo sandwich and yes, basil and tomatos just go perfectly together.

omg, i've seen the breast strap ons on Ebay when searching for mastectomy bras!! They are a bit scary looking aren't they and I remember thinking what the hell with the headlights!!  I bet that is what the drag queens love to wear at the clubs.

Ndgirl, the story on your DIL is so very sad, that had to be the hardest thing to watch her decline.. I only hope she didn't have regret during her last days.  So sad for the children.

ooooo.. I'll live in the boatshed, that would be lovely and that way Dex can show his love for me out of sight of Bobogirl because she will get too jealous.

Good luck tomorrow on your checkup Moira, the first one must be a little nervewracking! Mine is in October and I can't believe a year has almost gone by.. it's surreal.

Hmm... I might have to rethink the boatshed if you have platoons of mossies... and I bet you have the big ones. Supposedly, Avon's skin so soft deters mossies.. I've never tried it personally, but it would beat repellent or that horrible citronella.  I purchased some citronella insence that I'm going to try this year... we are going to be infested after all this damn rain.

Now you understand why I want Steel Magnolias (and I am not convinced Bobogirl has found it), I'm so tired of rude angry people.  A bus picks you up at your house and drops you off there? Ok.. I am back to living in the boatshed.  I haven't ridden a bus in ages, but if it even comes to a full stop to let people off, I would be surprised.

I agree WTF on the fireworks.. seems like an unnecessary expense lol, but at least you all got to enjoy them!

I am going to break for lunch.. lol it sounds like I always eat :)

Ooh!  So much to catch up on!  Hey there Momine!

First off, Gramwe, congratulations are in order!  Excellent news about the baby.  F 'in wedlock' babies being better than 'out of wedlock' babies.  I am pro 'out of wedlock' baby!  In fact, zills, my story is yours -- he is fostered, she is private, he came home on her 1st birthday, adoptions finalized one year apart!  Good to get all that out of the way.  I hate adoption questions, don't you?  Don't even get me started.

Did I hear I need to kick someone's ass?  The sperm donor's?  I may just buy him a large beer.  Thank you for our new baby, sperm donor!  High school sweetheart!  I am so happy, I can't help it.

Ariom, so sorry about that terrible terrible ectopic story.  Sounds awful.  Idiot doctors -- apparently Gatorade cannot cure everything.  Idesim is right -- i don't want to over-romanticize this town -- but it is very very nice compared to PHL.  And apparently Boston.  We do have F Green tomatoes.  Love those.  Panko is Japanese breadcrumbs.

Is your checkup tomorrow M?  I don't think it's tomorrow. Let us know exact date.  And exact birthday!  What will you do to celebrate?  And what is your 'first check up anniversary present'?  Those are totally stressful.  You should have a good present.

I  used to be pretty holistic.  Have bach's flower and rescue remedies.  Have lavender oil blah blah blah.  I need something stronger this week.  In fact, just scored some Valium (two tabs) at the PCP today as I was having my (really fun) CBE.  Score!  F bach flower essences right now.  I believe I've told some of you: I've had biopsies in which I walked in stone-cold-sober and was really taken for a ride.  Trying not to ever have that happen again.  In fact, my punch biopsy was like a grillion times worse than the partial MX.

Okay.  Knockers accounting and foob store report.  I've got a lot to do.  Don't want to lose this post..

I reply to myself.  Who needs knockers?  Please note: this will be my first time trying the pattern.  I am not saying I will automatically be great at it.  Here's what I have so far:

    nd --- beige baby yarn -- What size nd?  approximately?  Regarding payment -- don't be ridiculous!  These knitted knockers are a present!  I am so sorry for all you have been through.  So sorry for your DIL and your son and boys.  {{{nd}}}

Granwe -- what color -- what size?

Am I missing anyone? I'm taking orders.  Ariom you crack me up regarding getting mohair in your lip gloss!  You are so fashionable!

foob store report:  Not fun.  At one point I thought I was going to have to sit down.  But then I thought of all who came before me and it was not difficult to remain standing.  I was feeling pretty bad, though.  And then she brought out the amoena catalogue and samples.  I perked up.  Amoena, I said.  That's what I will have.  That's what my friend has!  And then I thought of you the whole time, M, and it was better.  I am having an Amoena cutlet sewn into pockets of Amoena bras, and then two soft cotton Amoena bras for sleeping, and then I am going to try these Amoena shelf camis.  All will come next week.  I have to have a fitting when everything arrives.  But that was a good job done.  XXX

Idesim, what are you having on the coffee table? :)

Ooh!  I just read more closely.  Idesim!  You and Dex will NOT be having private time in the boatshed!  You could rub yourself all over with bacon -- and I'm sure you do :) -- but Dex will still prefer me!  It bears mentioning that I will kiss him on the lips.

haha.. I can say without a doubt that i have never rubbed myself down with bacon, and nor would I have to stoop to such levels as Dex will totally prefer me and we will have matching hair.

Mossies are mosquitos... F mosquitos... it is raining here again, I really cannot even stand it anymore.  If at any point this summer somebody states that we could use some rain, I will punch them right in the nose.

Bobogirl you did it!! You went foobing!  You have now officially started a collection! I am so glad Moira was with you and the experience was better for it :)

I dunno about these yarn knocker things, I can't imagine how they would do the trick... Ndgirl, you can be the guniea pig :)

I think we are going to make mini spinach pizzas for dinner as we have some fresh spinach that needs to be used up and it's that kind of a night and pizzas are comfort food to me when it's cold and rainy and neither of us really feels up to cooking anything big.

You haven't given us anymore vitamix reports.. have you been using it?

Are you planning on taking a valium on biopsy day?  I hope you have found something to wear with plenty of pockets for all of us. I don't know how long valium lasts but maybe it will take care of the cramps as well.  F biopsies.

Fried mushrooms.. YUMMMM... love mushrooms.. love them stuffed and sauteed and just love them!  Wish I had some now for the pizzas!

Wren, I don't think I am allergic, but a lot of perfumes and cologne can give me a raging headache.  Nothing worse than somebody on the subway that has so much on you can taste it :(  Having said that, I don't have any problems with aromatherapy.

Oh girls, this is such an exciting morning. There is so much delicious news to savour. I can't make it past the computer!

Gramwe, Congratulations on the new baby! I just love babies. I have to sniff their heads! That is the most divine smell in this world. Colin always laughs at me when I hold a baby. I can't help myself. I think it is something primal!

I don't know what it is Gramwe, but these young women allow these guys into their lives and can't see them for what they are. My Bec isn't a good judge  of men either. She has had a couple of boyfriends that I couldn't be left alone with. She was afraid I'd tell them what I thought of them:) Thankfully, they are usually a bit scared of me, a very good thing! It's the pointy eyes thing, and of course the gutter gums, at the most opportune moments! Ha Ha I have had time to practice, she is 35 and there have been more than one of these losers.

All power to you Gramwe! You tell 'em exactly what you think! I am so impressed. F the wedding I say too! I send my love to your baby girl and congratulations on the baby! At least she will have great unconditional love from that child, he is really superfluous. I hope he doesn't break her heart again.

A movie! what a great idea, no, how about a reality show like Housewives shot here in Paynesvillle...no wouldn't work, we are all too stable, and nice to each other!

It does seem to be raining all over the world Gramwe. It has improved a bit here, but it is still dark and gloomy with showers predisted again today.

Now that I know what Panco is, I might give the tomatoes a go. I have had mushrooms done that way with garlic in the breadcrumbs. It's universal, we all have Basil and sea salt with our fresh red tomatoes. I have two types of Basil growing! The sweet one in the kitchen, by the sink and the perrenial outside. I can never be Basil-less:) I buy the local cold pressed virgin olive oil from a little town nearby called Stratford, which is on the Avon River, very English.

((((Hugs)))) to the OG, I hope the hand is healing well and the pain isn't too bad!

Hello Wren! I am sorry! In Australia we have a habit of shortening everything, or adding an "o" to the end of names. So mossies are mosquitoes, and if you have the name John, you'll be forever known as Jonno! David is Davo! We say that we are "slack" which is lazy.

I so understand your allergies Wren. I still hold my breath when I walk down the washing powder aisle at the supermarket. I went through a time where I couldn't even put petrol in my car because the smell would make me ill and give me a Migraine. Fortunately, over time it improved, and I can wear perfume again, occasionally. I don't have an issue with the Aromatherapy oils, but they aren't for everyone.

    Take care...M

Good Morning ldesim! The sun has just come out, as I read your post! The first time in many days!

The boatshed it is! I am looking forward to doing that little project, but it isn't the next job on the list. I still have to get the brickwork on the house rendered, but it won't be long! I promise there will be screens on the windows for the mossies!

I don't mind the Citronella smell, but I use a pure oil in a burner, and just have a few citronella candles around the perimeter of the outdoor eating area. My neighbor sprays the gardens when they get bad.

I know what you mean, I get blown away by the things that happen here, but I kid you not, the bus picks you up, and drops you off, and they had a fireworks display for the kids! It is a Magic litttle town.

Oh and did I mention how much fundraising they do for BC? I was very humbled when the Breast Nurse came to visit me at home and handed me an envelope as a gift from the local peole. It contained a voucher for $50.00 of petrol, justin case you want to go on a drive somewhere, a $25.00 voucher to the Organic fruit and Veg store, so you can juice, and a $25.00 voucher for a cafe in town for a little treat. This is given to every woman in the area who is Dx with BC. I think it is just the lovliest gesture. I tried to give it back for someone more in need, but she was adamant that they have plenty of funds, and no one misses out. Isn't that nice!

I am sorry, I didn't explain it very well, but my checkup isn't until July, which will be 7 months post surgery, not the 6 months I expected it to be, which is today. 6 months, how's that. I can't believe it.

I hope that was a yummy lunch! Chat again soon!......M

Bobo, you did it! I am so f'ing proud of you! Iam beaming and shouting to Colin in his office, Bobo did it, she went to the foob store. He thinks I am quite mad!

I knew it! Amoena has everything, didn't I say they would have something that would fill out the gap, and the bras are really very nice? A shelf cami, I don't know that one. You must give me the name of it when it arrives. I will look it up. I am so chuffed (thrilled) to hear you did it, and there, it wasn't too bad. So glad you took me with you! Big smooshy kiss to you, and a ((((gentle hug))))) for being a brave girl! I would have taken you out for tea after that!

Now you must get a salad spinner. Mary from mastectomy solutions gave me this golden tip. Hand wash the bra and then spin it in a salad spinner to remove the water, no wringing, and no washing machine or dryer Amoena is "Special" and must be treated with care. Then it will last a long time.

I told you the story ab out my Mother's prosthesis hitting the industrial laundry at the Nursing Home didn't I? Well, if not, long story short, it morphed into a massive contorted thing from its ordeal. The manager of the home was terrified I would go "troppo", kind of like "the dance of the humpyback spider", only in Oz:) I couldn't contain myself, when I saw it, it was amazing. I prsented the manager with it as a paperweight, a bloody huge paperweight!

I can't believe it, but we have bright sunshine, no rain for the moment. I am going to go and check the lettuce!

    Take care......M

Oh sorry, forgot to answer you about the knit foobs. I might just wait till you've tried a pair, or one, to see what the concensus is, and I am not giving you my address till you promise I can pay you for the postage and the costs........M

Wow! such a lot to catch up on..

Bobo.. my bra size is 38D if that is what you need. and yes idesom I will be the guinea pig!! sounds ok to me but was wondering if it would need some weight to it?? what to add? we will see. Thank you so much, but I would be glad to pay shipping anyway! you are great!

Gramwe, babies are a blessing but I can surely understand your concern, we mom's are pretty darn protective of our babies arent we?

Zill.. I love pickled beets, beans and I also pickle asparagus when I have extra, i have been finding some wild growing around here, but not enough.

Ariom.. love the stories of your parents and your life, what an exciting life and so many experiences you have had and will continue to.. I have the idea that you make the best out of everything! well except those damned mosquitos! we are overrun with them this year too. Lasy year we didnt have any but it was dry, now this year we had tons of snow to melt and May was wet and raining all the time, I swear they are as big as hummingbirds!!Cry Sometimes I get so disgusted with them I think it might as well be 20 degrees below zero as it is often here in winter, at least then we know we cant go outside, but now we wait to be outside all day, it doesnt get dark here until almost 11pm, which is great! getting out my Tempo spray tomorrow, it is supposed to be no toxic and it does kill them.

Well off to bed to try to sleep some.. gonna take 2 excedrin pm tonite and see what happens, maybe i will feel like i am drunk tomorrow! sorry about the typing, seems my computer only wants to capitalize when it wants to.

Have you tried pickled okra? I love it. It's in every supermarket in Oklahoma, but here it's so exotic that only a few places have it. And if you see fresh okra in the store, it's price is astronomical! I sent a pic to my uncle so he could laugh. There, it's the veg you leave on someone's desk when they go to lunch because you're overrun with it.

    ndgirl! Heloooooo!

There has been so much talk of food that I have just sat down with an omelette containing tomatoes, red ones, I didn't want to sacrafice any of my baby green ones in case I didn't like them. I have red onions, mushrooms, celery, and two big brown eggs from the Farmers Market, a little soy milk, and parsley, lightly pan fried in garlic infused olive oil. Finished off with fresh coriander. Ain't life sweet....sometimes:)

I too was so sorry to read of your DIL. One has to wonder how that could have seemed like a good decision, but we all have our path to follow.

Thankyou for your commment about my stories. I don't want to bore anyone, but I guess it's easy just to skip, if you aren't in the mood for it.

Mosquitoes are universally hated aren't they! I remember my baby girl being bitten all over when she was tiny, when we stayed with friends. They had the window open in her room, without screens. I still remember her dear little face with a bite on her eyelid, so it was swollen closed.

I thought it was good here, that i doesn't get dark till about 9.30pm in the summer, but 11pm would be sensational, except when you are trying to bring the kids in from playing outside!

Tempo spray, I must look that up too, I am spray phobic too. The one our neighbor uses interrupts their breeding cycle or some such thing, supposed to be non toxic.

I just remembered another funny one. When we built our last house, we had to have the termite barrier done. I met with the exterminator and was qizzing him about how toxic this was for humans and animals. He took great pains to explain that he'd been doing this job for 20 years, and it was all good, no hassles! As he was talking to me, I was mesmerised, just staring at his face and his hands, which were the only bits that weren't inside a rubber suit. He looked just like a reptile. I swear, hand on heart, I have never seen skin like it. I couldn't wait for Colin to get home, to tell him. I was on the couch, in hysterics, I couldn't get the story out. I swear I wouldn't be surprised if that guy had a forked tongue too. And to think, he thought, he hadn't suffered any SE's from the chemicals. I am off again, laughing at the silliness of it, it was so funny...maybe you had to be there!

    Sleep tight ndgirl...talk tomorrow! ....M

There you are Wren, just as I was about to get up and do something!

Okra, I know it as a thickening agent for things, but have never eaten it as a vegetable. Does it taste like anything else? I would imagine it might have a strange consistancy, it's gelatenous isn't it? I may be thinking of something else.

I meant to mention earlier, are any of you True Blood, or Dexter fans? We watched the first episode of the new TB last night, and my fave Dexter starts next week. I hate to tell you, but Dexter the dog is named after Dexter the blood spatter expert! He's not anywhere near as dual personality as he once was. I used to call him "Cheeky with a U" because he reminded me of "Chucky" Wanna Play!

I promise, he's better now, you can trust him when you're asleep now......really!
