Yes, Goldie is the official mascot! Thanks wren for the little word on her. Yeah, cats just know where to find the warmest place in the house. Sorry about your paint area, hopefully another place can give you as much inspiration. Have you ever painted outside, like the great painters? You would truly look like a pro... or a wannabe! :-)
Zills!!!!! Party on with NED, oh yeah! That is fantastic news, big hug!! Celebrate!!
Idesim, lol! Those are so funny, realistic, and yes, they scream Fia-type of post!
Fia, we missed you! Sorry you're not feeling good. What can we do? Do you need us in a bag or in a pocket?! Or in a bar? Or on a bar? We'll do whatever, we can be pretty crazy if you need it!
M, Spookie, I had never heard of the Chillow or the desire to chill our head in bed. But then again, I'm bald now so not actually hot at night! And I start tamox in 2 months, so that may all change. I'm always hot naturally (no bobo, not hot like hot mama, but literally warm body), so I can't even imagine the hot flashes I might get...!
Footballnut, sorry you were sick. Did you get those orange pills (prochlo-something)? If so, don't wait to take them. The few times I've needed them, I've found them quite effective. I assume you take all the prescribed ones as told? :-) Big hug, take good care. It will pass, another 3 days and you should feel much more normal, you're good to already be eating normal food today! as for Claritin, I took it the first few times but not the last ones (I still get Neulasta with the D), and I've not had bad bone pains. You'll see what works for you. Will your DH give your Neulasta shot next time? Mine has been, we've gone through IVF in the past (with DS as the result!) so he was used to giving me shots!
jsj, congrats on all drains being out! Feels good, eh? Happy you're enjoying time with SIL and your mother.
Hi to everyone else!

Zills I am so happy for you!! Hugs to all!

Fia and Football.. sorry you have to deal with these crappy things, wishing the best for you both. JS, no drains,, good for you, doesnt that feel the best?? you are doing so well.
Wren, love the Goldie update.. speaking of cats.. we have taken 14 stray cats to surrounding farms, some neighbors have left for Alaska for the summer. They do pay someone to feed these strays at times, but they need a farm home, so we contacted some people and now they all have nice barns and hay to live in. We caught them in live traps and loaded them up, had to make several trips but it was worth it, knowing they will be fed and have a nice place to be warm and dry when needed. Makes me feel better too.
OMG Idesim.. that is hilarious!! I was sure it was a Fiaranch post... Glad you picked it up when she is feeling low.. Thanks! I teased the gal that did my mammo, asking if I got 1/2 price having to only do one... she said it may be cheaper as things are coded differently.. we'll see.
Good night all... I am going to bed happy for Zills!!

NDgirl, I hear we have a waiting list of barns wanting cats. There are several groups who work with feral cats in this area. I think they enjoy barn life. DH's uncle had a dairy farm and a barn full of cats. He knew the cows names but not the cats LOL.

When I went into the shelter today they were dealing with 21 chinchillas. One got lose and went thru a wall where plumbing had been changed. The officer opened the cabinet under the sink and there was the chinchilla. 4-5 people were putting cages together that had smaller holes in the wire. I heard they got 9 into foster care and several are pregnant. I have no idea where they came from.

I guess I'm not really going steady with Ned but his twin brother NNG. No new growth. It's still good news. I guess I have some buggers hibernating so maybe it will be a long, long cold winter.
MO said to keep up with the tamox and get to the west coast of Ireland. See ya in three months.

ldesim, I love that! How funny!
I went to my Pink Ladies meeting today, great bunch of girls! There was another new one this month, I can't believe how many have arrived since I
was the newbie. We organized to go out to lunch and to the movies on
Tuesday, to see The Other Woman.Dropped in to the Opp Shop and they had 2 perfect stools, for the Boat Shed reno. I will strip and paint the wood work, but the seats are perfect thick plaited rush seats that will fit the coastal theme. I'll get on to the builder next week and have the interior lined and the doors fixed so I can get started.
Need to go to bed, I had a massage this evening and I am so tired, can't stay up.
Wren, so many Chinchillas! I don't think I have ever seen one, are they domestic pets?
Thinking about all of you..take it easy...I'll catch up in the morning! M x

I've never heard of them being domestic pets, but rabbits and guinea pigs are so perhaps they are. With that number I suspect a breeder.
0 -
I think they are similar to ferrets as pets. I know they were raised for their fur for ladies coats. UGH!

Zills Yay for NED!! Partay all you want! Such great news!
Fia and Football, sorry things are rough right now, do whatever you need to do to make yourself feel better.
ldesim, that is hilarious! I'm going to have a look at that thread!
Wren, yes, yes, yes Goldie is our mascot!! Sorry about the hair in the paint though. Oh my gosh, so many chinchillas!! I didn't know they were pets either.
jsj, isn't it wonderful to be drain free!! Have a great time with SIL. Score on the summer clothes!!
ndgirl good on you for looking out for those stray cats. Sounds like they'll be happy campers now. My late DH went to a podiatrist to get his toe nails clipped and feet checked regularly due to his diabetes. Then he had his left leg amputated. At the next pod appt he asked if he would be charged half the price because he only had one leg. The answer was no. So not fair!!
bobo, I do hope you get some pumpkins and watermelons too! How cool for the kids to have home grown pumpkins for Halloween?? Sorry that you had to take the princess out of the Waldorf school. At least it is close to the end of the school year. Can you take her to work with you? You just didn't really need this added complication to your life right now. Hope you are feeling better.
Hugs for everyone!!

Morning all!
Quiet and chilly here today. Just getting ready to catch up with a friend for coffee.
I hope everyone is doing OK I will check later...M x

Wow! This is as quiet as I have ever seen it here!! I hope it is because everyone is out enjoying their weekend and Spring!!
Hugs for everyone!

Hi gB, you just beat me! I haven't ever seen it this quiet either.
Turning grey and cold here, been raining, and the wind is howling. Dex thinks he wants a walk, but as soon as I open the door he just looks up at me and I know he's happy to stay in the warm.
Looks like it is time to do the big wardrobe changeover again!
Take it easy... I hope everyone is ok...M x

Good morning. Did your horse win the Derby? Mine did. Let's hope for a triple crown!
Eating garlic cheese grits for breakfast. DH and vampires will avoid me:) It was teacher appreciation week and a parent made a pan just for me. I haven't been to work in a year, so that makes it extra special. I don't want to burn my energy taking care of others kids and short changing mine.
Have decided to come off Effexor. Wish me luck. Stepped down and already feel more like my old self until the fatigue hits. It's worse than normal but whatever it takes.
PCP wants me to take neurotan for hot flashes. Anyone used this? I'm scared of new meds and new SEs.
Hope everyone has a good one. Going warehouse club shopping today. Wish me restraint and energy:)

I'be tried amitryptiline, nortryptiline, effexor, gabapentin, cymbalta & now wellbutrin for the SEs. None of them helped my with hot flashes, neuropathy, or any of the other SEs they were supposed to. All made me feel worse...constipation, headaches, nausea, crushing fatigue, migraines, and more. I'm weaning off of the wellbutrin now, the crushing headache/fatigue backed off as soon as I started to cut back, just dealing with sleepiness now, hope it goes away soon. The hardest for me to come off of was the effexor, I had nightmares every night for weeks. I'm done with these types of meds!!!! Still taking oxycodone for the pain, but would like to try to get off of that too!

I was prescribed gabapentin when I had shingles the other week. It made me really tired and I would take a 2-3 hr nap during the afternoon. Since I was still off work it wasn't a big deal. I weaned off my zoloft after my dx in Jan due to the possible need for tamoxifen. It was a hellish couple months. I was prescribed lexapro which has been working well for me. Feel like my old self and ready to get back to work in a couple weeks. Turns out since my BMX, I don't need tamoxifen now, so it was all for naught! Good luck to all of you adjusting and weaning off new meds.

I was rx'd Effexor for hot flashes. I'm on the lowest dose. It's working well. I tried neurontin for pain, it made me sooooo sleepy. But everybody is different.

Hi All! Thank-you for your kind thoughts! Things have gotten much better - if it stays like this I'll be rocking but somehow I doubt it!! I was given anti nausea meds to take the day of the infusion (last Wed), Thursday and Friday. They also gave me some "just incase" meds. I think that my mistake last Wednesday was that I didn't recognize the nausea sign and as such, didn't take a "just in case" med until it was too late. Then I paid the price. I am also wondering if the "C" portion of my FEC treatment was administered too quickly because I walked out of the chemo suite with a foggy head. I had my neulasta shot in the stomach on Thursday - Home care will continue to give it to me. So far, no bone pain. I haven't taken any clariton and have been fortunate enough to be able to go for walks outside and on my treadmill. I hope that this can stay the same! On Friday, I felt wired in the morning and didn't sleep last night. My anti nausea meds are steroids therefore my DH thinks that this is what caused the wired sensation. I've also felt tired at times but nothing too bad. I treated myself to a burger and fries last Friday and went out for dinner with friends last night then to a lacrosse game. I'm still trying to live. Today I did some gardening - it is so beautiful outside!! I hate gardening but it was so nice to be doing something outdoors!! I have some pain in my chest - feels like heartburn again - it starts when I'm either walking or being active - it'll pass. Funny - I had so much pain before my port was inserted and then again before chemo but that passed too. I still have some discomfort where y port was inserted but nothing like it was - hope that this also passes over the next few days as it has been disrupting my sleep. Wish all a lovely day!!!!

Good Morning all! I am so sorry to hear that you are all experienced in the lousy experience of SE's. I hate taking anything new, ever because I know I am going to have to deal with something else. It is always a trade off, for me too. I am starting to have the SE's from this bloody bone drug now too. All I can say is F them all!!!!
Footballnut, I am pleased o see you are doing better and hope that it continues through this treatment for you. It's a good thing you have good weather coming, there's nothing like fresh air and sunshine to make things feel a bit better.
Zills, good luck is following you! Congratulations on your win at the Derby!
I hope you have a great shopping day. M x

Zills, My horse won too! I'm jealous of the garlic grits. I love grits and DH makes them occasionally. It's strange because I detest hominy. Actually perhaps I should try hominy again. My Mom was not an adventurous cook because my Dad would eat almost nothing.
DH went to the plant sale yesterday and bought a ton of new veggies. Now if it will stop raining long enough to plant them..... Back to temperatures in the 60's and high 50's. I know that probably doesn't seem cold to you in the northern tier, but I'm ready for summer now.
Goldie is sitting in my lap purring. Doesn't improve my typing, but is very pleasant. I'm still picking hair out of my paint and keyboard. She's a medium hair cat, so at least the hair is long enough to see before it hits the painting.

funny how everyone seems to be in a better mood once the sun comes out. Feels great to get some sunshine and actually feel half decent!!!!

Wren, you do know hominy and grits are different? Still corn, different texture and grits are fine ground.
0 -
Congratulations Wren!, you girls should start a syndicate! Two of you picking the winner is excellent.
Wren I am so happy that Goldie is so settled and you're enjoying her company! It was meant to be!
Planting out new veggies, how great. I have the last of my herbs and lettuce still bloomong and about 6 tomatoes. I do have a lot of strawberries, but the possums eat them just before they're ripe! Take it easy...M x

I know that hominy is alkali treated corn and I thought grits were ground hominy. I remember hominy as being the size and texture of chick peas. Grits are similar to polenta, although have less taste to interfere with the butter or gravy LOL. I do like most corn foods, especially tortillas.
Ariom, I guess it makes sense that you have possums there too. After all Aus is known for strange animals. They look like they're constructed of leftover parts of other animals. Pretty ugly little guys. We're putting our strawberries in a raised bed this year. We lose ours to the slugs.
I'm trying to decide what to do about my back pain. I'm doing the exercises religiously, but it hasn't gone away. I don't know whether to go to my PCP and demand x-rays of my neck and back or to my Onc and maybe get a cat scan. Probably neither will show anything, but something must be triggering it. Maybe I'm just now reacting to the Arimidex after 2 years?

Wrenn, we have totally different Possums over here. There are Ring tail or Brush tail and they are the cutest things. We had a couple of families of them who lived in our full size Palm tree at the last house. I had a basket on the fence that I would feed them from. They never touched my Tomatoes flowers or herbs, but they did destroy next door's garden, but they refused to feed them.
Wren, have you tried a remedial massage? Massage has saved me from constant pain and more drugs, for many years. It doesn't work for everyone, but could be worth a try.
I went all the way into town, to return some clothing and to join the gym. I was almost at the door of the gym when I realized I had left the Doctor's clearance at home, so now I have to put it off till later in the week. M x

Spookiesmom and Bobo.. Please send some warm weather up north! Woke up to the white stuff on the ground! It is May, where is the warm winds and temps?
Wren, what new veggies? Wish I could plant anything, oh well last year was like this too, no hot weather until July , then look out! Goldie belongs to our group now. Glad your and Zills horses won... Tell me, did you both have your fancy hats on and have a mint julip in your hands? We were watching at our ds house but with 3 little girls not much interested in derby,a little distraciting. Your pain sounds awful, I have bee experiencing knee joint and foot pain off and on and have been wondering if the arimidex Is the cause or maybe this miserable weather. Maybe a scan would put your kind at ease, never hurts to check things out. Good luck.
Ariom, too bad about a long trip and a no go, hope you found some bargains shopping anyway.
Hello to all, I need to get busy, work at an agriculture business and they are busy in SD, so I need to get acres entered and billed out, so will check in later, hope everyone is well.

Yeah, that's right. Some think it's all the same, not really. DH stumbled onto shrimp grits, says they were soooooo good.
Warm air being sent your way! Have a/c on. That's the downside. $$$$$$
I was on AI for over a year before joint pain started. Got permission for a month vacation, two days later 90% the pain is gone! It was mostly in my ankles, but wrist too. Made already achey places ache more! Will restart generic from Israel soon.

Ndgirl, 12 different kinds of tomatoes, 2 kinds squash, 5 kinds peppers, 3 kinds eggplant, 6 quinoa plants, 6 cauliflower plants, 1 pie cherry (can't imagine where that will go) and a variety of herbs which may or may not grow here depending on how much hot weather we have.
Spookiesmom, We had shrimp & grits in N. Carolina and it was awesomely good. It tasted like grits with butter topped by shrimp boiled in shrimp boil spices and green onion bits. We can finally get shrimp boil up here. I was horrified when I discovered no one here had heard of it.
I think I might be officially crazy. I'm doing the senior center front desk 2 days this week, ISO for sick kitties 2 days, voicemail for kitties in foster care 2 days and have an art class. I don't see much painting time in my schedule.

Hi Wren! Just checked in after being out all day, only to find the post I did this morning isn't here. I was in awe of your 12 different types of tomatoes! Your week's a big one, you;re going to be busy!
O went to lunch with the girls from my Pink Ladies group and then to the movies to see The Other Woman, not bad, pretty funny.
It is so cold, I couldn't wait to get home to the heating, and now it's raining too.
nd, you're sounding very busy too! I didn't get to the gym today either. I went in the wheelchair taxi with on of our girls, so had to come straight home after the movie.
Take it easy everyone, catch you all later.........M x

Wren, wow 12 kinds of tomatoes is pretty impressive , you will have to let us know which you like the best. Quinoa sounds interesting. Cold and rainy here again so not even a thought of gardening.
Hello and good thoughts to everyone!
