Hi everyone! Boy I have been busy lately.. whew, getting too old for all this.. last week was the week from hell for me! Lawn mower wont work, refrigerator puked, so busy at office and our site was "deactivated" and invoice had to be in May 30, had our 5 year old gd here for 4 days (that was the good part) and trying to plant flowers and garden! Just about got it all done now. We took part of today and went to neighboring town for their annual "Devils Run", town is Devils Lake and the run is a fun filled weekend of old cars, trucks, and pickup trucks, antique autos. Hubby has 1957 Chevy and 1950 Packard but we didnt take either one to the parade this year, had a fun time watching it tho. It is a big event here, they come from many states away and of course Canada. SO we did enjoy our day... shouldnt complain about being busy I know.. glad I can do it. our weather has been nice and warm, a little too much rain and farmers are still struggling to get crops planted. Next week head to WI for our grandson's graduation!

GB.. snakes OMG, I would move back to CA, , JK, SadI cant stand snakes, hope your have that under control. I am so far behind with everyone here... Zills, bet the boy is just a phase, hoping you get things worked out with scar issues.. I was just thinking about you getting ready for a big trip as I was planting flowers today... so hope you have a wonderful time. Hate those damn hot flashes too, not taking anything for them, I feel like vitamin E helps me some.

Ariom, glad you are off those bone meds, I am like most, dont like to take anything unless really necessary! just swallow those calcium pills I guess. Why do they have to be so huge??

Well a big hello to everyone, I think of all my friends here so often, glad we are all together! Stay well everyone! will catch up with everyone later.

Good morning all! No problem eric95us!

Hi nd, you have been bust. It is good to hear that you are getting some nice weather for gardening, just don't overdo it!LOL

I am so glad I am off those damn drugs too. I am feeling better each morning and not having a headache and feeling like crap every day, is just wonderful. I have no clue why those tablets are so huge, other than it takes that much of whatever the source of calcium is to get the amount we need. I have been reading up on proper dosage because now they are saying that if you take too much calcium in supplement form it leaves you open to kidney stones and heart attack...will it never end..damned if you do and damned if you don't. I have given up on simply trusting Doctors because 1 Dr at the clinic in town told me my levels of D were fine and to stop taking the Vit D, but Dr 2 that I saw the other day tells me I must take it, because the levels, the exact same ones that the last DR looked at, are at the low end of normal. Go figure!

I am reading that you can sustain any amount that is derived from food without any adverse effects, it is just if you're like me and don't eat dairy, it's hard to get what you need from food source alone. More reading is in order!

I hope the weather is giving all of you the inspiration to get out and do stuff! It is quite the opposite here, the lovely days have disappeared and the mornings are grey, damp and cold, so going out for anything, isn't a joy!

    Take it easy everyone...M x

Spookiesmom,, come on up north and you and dh can take a ride for old time sake!! runs great, but these old cars are nice and fun too but kinda money pits!!

Another nice day for us, went hunting wild asparagus and found enough for 2 meals, someone else beat me to it earlier... grr.

I hear you Ariom on what to take, I am a huge dairy eater and have been told by dr that we can get too much if we supplement and that damages the heart, but then I am taking this damn arimidex which is sucking estrogen out of me and also eats the bones and hurts the heart... what to do... what to do?? I dont think we northerners ever get enough vitamin D from the sun, so I always take that.

I've seen other people say their oncs want Vit D at 70-80, so that's what mine got to taking 1400mg/day. I buy one calcium tablet called "petite" and I'm thinking of looking at the gummy chews although I don't care for gummy candy at all. I've read that you can only absorb 400mg of calcium at a time, so high count pills are wasted. I can put milk in my coffee and eat cheese and yoghurt in moderation, but become ill if I drink a glass of milk, so getting calcium is a problem for me also. If you can tolerate dairy, I think you can get all you need from food and don't need supplements.

Just returned tonight from attending GS #4's 7th birthday in Oregon. He had a skating party with a ton of kids. DS put on skates and made it around the room without falling. Fortunately he decided to quit at that point. I used my ankle brace as an excuse to sit it out. They have a hot tub, which was also very nice at the end of the day. Lots of pollen there. Both boys had trouble and I had to use my inhaler twice. Goldie was at another foster parents house while we were away. I think she's glad to be back home. She had put both her toys on her blanket and was ready to go.

Hi Wrenn, my reading is 67 and I am back on 2000 a day of D. I just noticed there is a  Gummy and  Chocolate Candy that contains calcium available now. The one I am taking was suggested by my Naturapath from where I used to live, but is very expensive, it has Magnesium and Homeopathics in it too. More research in order!

Sounds like a great party! Goldie certainly belongs with you, Wrenn. She packs her own stuff ready to come home.

nd, Love the sound of your cars, but I know what you mean about money pit, the boat is the same BOAT= Bring Out Another Thousand! LOL

You'd think I would get enough D through Sunlight wouldn't you? Apparently not, don't you just hate having to weigh up the side effects against the benefits of the stuff we have to take? After 7 long years, I took the Steroids, over the Chemo drug, that can cause Cancer,  WTF and that's what sucked out my bones, damned if you do and damned if you don't!

It hasn't stopped raining all day, Dex hasn't wanted to go out for a pee, he hates wet feet so he stands under the patio and aims out to the grass, very funny!

    Catch you tomorrow.....M x

I'm on 50000 units D and I can tell when I get to the end of the week. I'm so tired. There's plenty of sun here now and I wear shorts. My bones haven't been checked but tamox is supposed to help.

Old cars sound fun. Old boyfriend was into corvettes. He had a 64. I love to see the burnouts in the fall.

Boy woke up scratching and wheezing. They played in the sprinkler and then in a neighbors backyard. He's supposed to start daycare today with his sister. I had to give him Benadryl so he may crash.

Went to bed with a headache. Took something in the night. Woke up with one. Supposed to rain all week off/on. Sure that doesn't help. Neither did going out Thursday night to survivor dinner, Relay for Life Friday night and park Saturday am. DH worked all weekend.

Baby (2 yrs now:) still has beautiful ringlets in the back. Afraid if she gets a haircut they'll disappear forever.

Goldie packs her toys.. that is a hoot! She must be very happy to be home with you, I think that is the cutest thing I have ever heard from a cat, and we have had several. Party sounds fun for the kids, hot tub sounds better for me, back is killing me in mornings from gardening, we did alot in the yard and garden yesterday but glad it is done.. raining again today and chilly, time to catch up on laundry.

Ariom, Dex has the right idea, and hopefully a good aim... animals are so great. I have never had my D level checked, guess I should. I just take the pills, they are not hard to swallow either. I too am not a fan of gummy anything, candy or supplements.

Zills, there were lots of vettes in the car show. Yes, I bet if you cut babies hair curls they may be gone, I had long blonde ringlets and when my mom finally cut the hair they were gone, but I still have some natural wave, which is a real pain sometimes. Bet she is a little doll!  Headaches... grrr, I have so many of them, migraines, but guess I better say they are lessening than when I was younger... maybe hormone related who knows, but I feel your pain of waking with them, not a good way to start the day. Hope boy is better and off to daycare.

Goldie was so happy to be home that she let us trim her nails without protest this morning.

Zills, Sorry about the headaches. Those are never fun. The younger 2 GS have allergies and asthma. Every time they came in from playing outside, they had to wash their faces and get eye drops in addition to benedryl. If the baby only has ringlets in the back, I think they might not come back. There's no reason you need to cut it. There are pony tails if she's hot.

I'm in the ache all over this morning. Wed night I ran to the library and banged the side of my knee against a metal post. That's a 3 inch bruise. Then I fell using the kids shower after the hot tub. It was slick and sloped farther than I expected and I went down on my rear. That left me with a small bruise on my rear, a big one on my forearm and the opposite elbow. And I already had tendonitis. This needs to stop right now.

I'm so happy DH is not into cars or boats. Old obscure musical instruments are his obsession. At least they're small.

Hi all, I am up early today for Colin to have an early business meeting. I hate to get up when it is still dark, it is just getting light now and it is 7am.

I will get an early start at the supermarket today, haven't decided what to make for lunch yet.

Spookiesmom, Colin would go nuts for the Mustang!

Wren, I have something your DH may find interesting, it is what we believe, to be the first Electric Violin, in Australia, at least. Colin's Father made it in 1948 and is quite amazing. We still have it.

    http://gizbytes.com/Violin/violin.htm

You've had some bad luck with bruises and falls this week. I understand the allergies your G kids have to tolerate, Bec was the same. I used to carry eye drops and Asthma meds everywhere, fortunately it has subsided with age, but it took a very long time. She will still have a bad Asthma attack if she gets a virus or cold.

nd, sorry you're having pain too, headaches and a bad back, don't make anything fun to do. I used to get the hormonal Migraines too, just the odd one these days, nowhere near as bad as in my younger days. I hope you feel better.

Zills, don't cut the baby curls, they may disappear. Just like Wren says, a little pony tail will work if she's hot and the curls are so cute.

Sorry you have the headache too Ziills, and the boy has the allergy symptoms again too. Not fair!

Almost light here now and chilly again, the first day of Winter was like there was a switch turned on and the nice days were finished.

Take it easy everyone and I'll catch you all later....M x

We got the Mustang for DD when she was in high school. We were married in 68, brought her home in *A 67* not this one in 71. He wrecked that one! He wanted her to have a safe car. Bigger and more steel. So when she left for grad school, he restored it. That's when we found out it came from Detroit painted PINK. Special order only. Could have been a prize, or a Bunny Club gift. Heffner was known to give pink cars to Bunnys. There was a Playboy Club in Miami this car has never been titled out of Fl. One of about 200 cars that year in this color. Has factory A/C too. It was her get away car when she got married. An absolute blast to drive!

Great car story Spookiesmom and very cute photo of the GS!

nd, how wonderful for you! It must be so exciting, I hope you have a great time at the graduation.

We have sunshine this morning, for the first time in what feels like ages. It has just rained and rained, but the garden looks just amazing. All the Camelias are blooming with the under planting of Azaleas and all the green is so green, from the rain. I have so much lavender with full heads that smell divine and all the Bamboo I planted last year has suddenly shot skyward. It is Winter, but the burst of nice weather we had must have confused some plants.

    Take it easy everyone....M x

Well Poop!  My post disappeared!!  Now to try to recreate! :(

    Hi everyone!

72°F, raining on and off with some thunder and lightning. May be more of the same tomorrow.

Today is my 65th b-day. Celebrated by having labs drawn early morning for my PCP appt on Thursday. Did that so my A1c would not be messed up by what I eat & drink today! It was my first appt officially on Medicare. The lab tech was very chatty. When I told her to use my left arm not the right because of the SNB on the right, she said she was glad I said something. She knows several people that have the same concerns as I do. She said that it is never mentioned in any of the training they get. Wow, that seems like a gross omission. They should at least be asking people!

The lab tech said she had a couple of friends that had unis (one later had to have the other removed). She said one said jokingly "I have a boob in a box!!"  I laughed and said I have 4 boobs in boxes that I never wear.  I was only wearing a tank top, no scarf or sweater, I never saw her looking at my chest once. I asked her did she notice I had no boobs?  She said no, didn't even notice!  I said most people don't, and if anyone has a problem with me being flat, it is their problem, not mine!

Dinner is a thick lamb chop with onions and steamed cauliflower smothered in Kerrygold butter from Ireland, washed down with a couple glasses of Champagne!! Followed by a microwave chocolate cake (I'm going to put a square of Lindt 90% cocoa in the center before I nuke it) topped with fresh whipped whipping cream! And except for the Champagne all the other things a very low carb/high fat.

Hugs for everyone and healing energies for all of you that are in need.

Happy birthday! How did you sneak that one in GrammaB? Chocolate cake is my fav and I just love lindor.

Garden sounds great M. Enjoy it while it lasts. Trying to decide what to plant around my gross white fly infested cat napping hangout of a bush. Something that is hardy and pretty. Just looking at annuals.

So glad Goldie knows how to pack her bags. Sweet story.

Tis the season for graduation. Weddings are next!

RO said to do stretches 4-5 times per day and massage with vitamin e oil. Come back in three weeks. Said I was right in time to be feeling skin effects from rads. I missed that conversation.

Gained 5 lbs. Not happy. Guess Ben and Jerry's caught up with me. Feel bloated. Eating the house down like pms.

Happy 65th birthday gB!! Too bad you had to spend it at appointments, but I'm glad the lab tech was nice. Your dinner sounded yummy, I hope it was! Hugs!

Zills, sorry about the skin issues. 4-5 times/day for stretches, that's a lot! When will you find time?

Spookie, thanks for the car stories, that pink Mustang must be cute and fun! Your GS is so cute and looks so proud! DS is finishing kindergarten in a few weeks too, but there is no graduation at his school. The kids will go to the same school in Sept for Grade 1, maybe that has something to do with it.

M, congrats on being off your bone meds! Glad you're feeling good. Your garden does sound lovely, even when you're almost in your winter season. I'm so jealous!

nd, sounds like you have been busy! I know you have grandkids but I don't know how old you are - are you thinking of retiring soon?

Wren, I love the story of Goldie packing her toys! Sorry about all your bruises, you need some TLC.  What a cool DH you have, musician and all. My DH is just a regular guy who's a sport fanatic (watching, playing, whatever).

I had an apt at the PS last week, she had a cancellation and was able to fit me in, to plan for reconstruction for next year. Good news is I don't have enough fat to use for reconstruction (I want the size I had, a B-C cup), I was happy to hear that! I said, are you sure? How about the butt, the thighs? And she says yes, but it's not enough! So anyway, it would be expanders. She did mention that there are risks of infection, and the fact that I will likely need to change the implants a few times in my life.  I will see her again after I see the gyne-onc in October, she would want to wait 3 months after my hysterectomy. So we shall see.

Bad news today, my aunt who had BC twice found out she has bone mets, so she went from being stage 1 five years ago (when she had bmx and chemo) to now stage 4. She'll start taking tamox again, she'll get 5 days of radiation, and then regular scans. My other aunt is getting a bmx tomorrow. We're all BRCA2+. It's scary. I think "what can I do to avoid getting cancer again, or getting mets"? I wish there was something...

Happy Birthday GB, your meall sounds great. Hope you have a great day and year. What is happening with the snakes?

OTC,  I am 65 and I only work part time, the busy times are spring and fall as we are  an agriculture  business that  owns  fertilzler spreaders, they are huge machines that lays down  dry  chemical  before  planting , yes that crap goes into the soil and we  are all eating it, although the  fertilzler  isn't as toxic as the spray  the farmers use on all crops, I hate the idea of it and prefer organic but that isn't happening  with  farmers because they can't make much $$  because disease and  insects  ruin the crops.  I was so ticked today  went to garden and the canola bugs had eaten every one of my radishe plants to the ground.

Ariom your green sounds lovely, that is what we have now, beautiful time of year.

Wren, how are the bruises? Ouch!

Happy birthday gB! Is your microwave chocolate cake low carb? If so, I'd love the recipe. DD has finally started working to get her blood sugar down and has had some success with low carb. She noticed that her numbers go up after artificial sweetener as well as sugar. Evidently her taste buds are in control.

Otceb, That's scary about your aunt. I hope she does as well as some women here with bone mets. The only thing I've seen to reduce recurrence is exercise and eating healthily. That's no guarantee, but you'll probably feel pretty good on that regimen.

    Hello everyone!

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear gB, Happy Birthday to you!............. I hope you enjoy that meal and have a great day!

I took Dex on a big long walk, the first for a while. I am feeling almost normal again, so I am grateful to not be on those drugs.

The Sun has been shining all day, I helped Colin package up a radio controlled yacht that he is sending to a friend in another state. It was a big job, I kept thinking I was being been shot at, very time I stood on the bubble wrap.

Hey Zills, I didn't know that about the Rads either. It is a big commitment doing the exercises that often, over here they put the fear into you after the surgery. I was doing the exercises for months and months and still massage.

nd, I am so sorry you lost your radishes. I am still losing my Strawberries. I don' think I have had one, every time they look like they are nearly ready, the following day I go out and they are gone! I didn't know they continued to fruit for so long. I haven't the faintest idea what's eating them, because nothing else gets touched. My tomatoes and all my Herbs are doing great. The lettuce is all finished, so I don't know what it is. You'd think a Possum would eat other stuff too, I can't think of anything else it could be.

I feel the same way about Organic, but it just isn't viable for so many Farmers. They aren't making much for the crops with the monopolies of the big Supermarkets dictating prices. I feel for them, because we know they'd rather use less chemicals if they could.

otceb, I am so sorry to hear of the family Dx.

I wish you all the best for the planning for your recon. I would happily donate my ass and tummy for your cause! Just kidding, of course..LOL

Hello everyone. Haven't had any updates from SGC, Dawny, PRB, Viv or SJS. Hanging in there vintage, Idesim, bobo, Fia? Still waiting on a baby update from Granwe!

Done almost everything except clean house and pay bills. I dislike both immensely.

Nice and cool today. Took a longer walk and planted flowers. Want to get more. Doubt DH will water them while I'm gone so probably wasting money.

OTC are they going to put you on tamox? Wren's right. Eating right and exercising plus enjoying life.

Hi everyone, jeeesh it is so quiet here!

Zills, I hate cleaning and paying bills too, it is just so futile, isn't it!

I had my Pink Ladies meeting today, more new ladies every month. We had a lovely, interesting guy, who is a Photographer and lives on the Island as the speaker today. He did a photographic history of the area, really interesting. Then he showed us the most amazing photos of the local Wildlife and Birds, Orchids, Fungi and Insects. It was really fascinating and the hour flew by.

Fia, no J Crew in, my neck of the woods, probably a good thing!! What a bargain for you though, 25 at once, I like that!

Sorry you're still sweating and swearing, bloody hip pain is the pits. I hope it improves for you.

It is a long weekend here again this weekend, lots of visitors already arriving into town. There is a Farmer's Market on Sunday, so I will battle the tourists for the fresh produce.

    Take it easy..M x

Happy Friday!  While I haven't been posting lately, I have been keeping up with you all.

A belated happy birthday gB!  I hope you have a wonderful year filled with happiness!

Zills, I hope the stretches are helping!  I too am on the vitD.  I have a theory about low D and BC.  Seems most of us have that in common! The amount of sunshine doesn't seem to matter.  It seems some of us just can't store it.

Funny you should be talking about Mustangs, Spookie, my DH informed me that he wants another one (we got rid of the Shelby and gt last year)!   Sorry, no BOSS for him as I have been out of work this school year!  Your GS is adorable!  I love them at that age!

M, I am so happy for you!  Goodbye bone meds!  I can only image how wonderful it feels to be feeling like yourself again.

Wren, how is Goldie doing?  And how are your bruises?  I hope you are healing!

Fia, my daughter looks for those cami sales from JCrew every year!  I think she has every color-what a steal.  I don't mind going down to The outer banks of NC to the factory either!  It is a win-win!  I too am sweating and swearing-can't stand the hot pillow at night!  Might have to get a chillo!

Nd, I thought you were in your mid 50's, why I am not sure, but it must have something to do with all of your energy!

OTC, so sorry about your aunt and the family dx.  Saying an extra prayer for you.  Since you don't have enough, Can I give you some of the fat I have acquired during the past year?  I have gained 50 pounds and really need to get it gone!  I dread going on tamoxifen as I will probably gain more!

I am faced with a big decision-rads or no rads.  I worry about heart and lung damage since it is my left side.  I am also terrified of lymphadema as I had 23 nodes removed. Then there is the "last bullet" mentality- if it comes back I won't have any options left other than more chemo. What to do, what to do? I have been on the rads site and frankly I didn't get much help with this decision. I don't like/trust the RO I was sent to. When I went for the consult last year, he wouldn't look at me.  Never looked at my face.  So weird and it didn't give me warm fuzzies! There isn't another RO for miles and miles!  I know this is my decision, but I would appreciate any thoughts you might want to share. I am having another echo and a CT angiogram next week so I am off the Herceptin until the results come in.  I am sure my heart is fine,  but I guess the tests are necessary since everything they have given me have potential heart side effects.

On a positive side, we are heading up to NY (Long Island, not NYC) on Wednesday.  I haven't been back in 12 years as my DH is a southern boy and hates it up there.  My SIL is having a breast reduction and wanted me to come up and hold her hand.  She has been my biggest advocate so I just have to go.  I will admit that I have an alterior motive- I can't wait to eat the food!  I will definitely have to diet when I get back!  Now that my taste buds are returning I am eating everything in sight.  I am ravenous!  Exercise will have to be in the plan when I return!

    Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Sorry, I pop in here occasionally but don't seem to post often. Truthfully between my own FB wall & friends & my biz page & the groups... I am on FB more than not. And the groups are so much easier to read & follow compared to the forums.

The minute I finished rads my skin began to dry, peel & stopped being painful. I also stopped using the aloe & only used organic virgin coconut oil on the area.

We've had a few nice days but still too many cool damp days. Not a great Spring here in New Hampshire. We did the SPCA motorcycle ride for animals on Sunday, fun. And had a good day up at the lake region riding around. Wed I spend a few hours at an auction, didn't get furniture (though I could have gone crazy with the old jelly cupboards & wicker chairs) I got *smalls* which I needed to fill in the shop space.

I found out today my echo was good. I was concerned. Just the whole Herceptin heart damage thing & the old 60 year old bod going through chemo, surgery & then rads very very close to the heart had me worried the % would go down. It was 51% during chemo, went up to 55 last time & now at 65% woohoo Maybe going to the gym helped, either or, I can continue with the infusion on Tuesday.

I'm happily sporting my little soft foobs in my teen stretchy bras. LOL I belong to the Flat & Fabulous group on FB & said I am Flat with Foobs, so I am Foobulous!

My hair really isn't growing at all, so discouraging but it seems thicker on top. I have the Amethyst color in it now, need to rinse in 10 minutes.

I found a bracelet I want but it is sterling & pricey. I'm not a big fan of the F word but it seems to work so well with that other awful word, cancer...and this script doesn't really show at first glance what it says.
