Bobo, so sorry to hear about your Dad. That sucks....
Zills, Ireland not far away, wish I was going too. Always wanted to marry an Irish man, got an Aussie one, oh well, he is o.k, I guess
M, I am awaiting my first Marika order! Signed up for MyUS also, very excited!
gB, sorry about your DDs DLLP being a pain, I hope things get worked out soon.
Helenna, welcome, and good vibes coming your way!
ND, glad you enjoyed your GS graduation. I really hope I get to see my children graduate.
Hello to Sgc, Fia, Spookie, Wrenn, otceb, and everyone else!
Dawn xxxx

I guess complaining about the crows was the ticket. I have not seen or heard a crow all day. It's like they all expired overnight or something. Even without a nest, we usually have some crows around. It's a little eerie if you ask me.

bobo, I am so sorry to hear about your dad. Sending prayers and healing energy for your whole family. And an extra special few hugs for you!! I know just how your mom feels hearing a dx like that, is heart wrenching. I almost passed out when the dr gave my DH the dx that turned out to be fatal for him. Life is so unfair so much of the time. Know that you have the support of all of us here whenever you need it!

Zills, that is exactly what I told DD, every working parent has to call in help at times. DD's dad is close enough to come in and fill in and I don't see anything wrong with that. Unfortunately the ex is making that into something negative. It is ironic as she was a single mom for her daughter and relied on her family for support. Sometimes this whole thing just wants to make me scream!
Ariom, I like that, my usual comment is if it bothers someone to see me flat it is their problem not mine, but your take, that it is none of my business is just as good!! I ignore it either way!!
I'm in a pretty rural area also, being sort of a hermit at heart, there weren't a lot of people to be told. Everyone in my circle of friends supported me throughout and even more importantly, my kids did also.

My dr's nurse called this morning. Fortunately, not skin cancer!! It is a deeply inflamed ulcer on my ear. It is still sore and weepy. Dr said cover it with vaseline and if in 4 weeks it isn't all healed to come back and they will do a "deeper" biopsy. Really? On my ear? Not sure how they could go any deeper... I have been keeping my ear dry and it just seems counter intuitive to me to cover it in vaseline and keep it moist. But I will try it for a while and see if it heals any better that way. I've had this sore since some time in Feb, and I am soooo tired of it!!

Hello everyone, I spent the day in bed today, can't remember the last time I did that. I got Colin up this morning, his carer was sick and I twisted as I was lifting and pulled a muscle across my back. It is much better now, and I have a massage at 10am tomorrow, so it will be all good. I have gotten out of practice with Colin's morning routine cause I haven't had to do it in a while, I just do the nights, so that we have a choice of bedtime without carers.
Congratulations on the B9 ear Biopsy, I have to wonder how they could go any deeper too. The idea of Vaseline would bother me too, it's and occlusive, so keeps air out too. Colin says an ulcer is a similar thing to a pressure sore, the bane of people who are paralyzed, and the treatment they use for those is Ungvita which is a vitamin A ointment in a Petroleum Jelly base, which is also Vaseline! You could end up with a "tunnel", very fashionable! LOL Just kidding:)
Hi Wren, how lucky was that about the Crows. Bec has a few around her apartment, she did some research on them and found that they get to recognize people. She feeds them and they follow her to the train station, in the mornings.
Hi Dawny, I hope you love the Marika, since you're here in Australia, take a look at Mix online, or if you have a large Coles in Geelong take a look at their Activewear. They do some good crop tops and zip jackets. The crops need to have a pocket sewn in, if you don't have a Contact Prosthesis, but they are a nice cotton elastane and cheap as chips.
Just a tip with Marika and MyUs, you will probably need to email the invoice that Marika sent to you, because they don't include an invoice with the parcel, and fill in the prices you paid for the goods on the MyUs website. It is a new rule that just came in this week. I am now asking everyone I buy from, to include a proper invoice in the package. Have fun!

Thanks, everyone, for the well-wishes about my dad. MD is in rare form, prattling on endlessly about... herself. She has esophageal reflux issues from overeating, and she has been having some tests lately -- totally not life-threatening. Treated with Tums and losing weight. But all she can talk about is herself! I was just telling Z.
New people, now, don't be rushing to MD's aid. Old people, please fill in new people.
Helenna: I err on the side of not telling anyone. I really love to not tell people. I never regret not telling. But I often regret telling. I second the stories of ND and Ariom. I hate counting that sort of thing up. She never called back... etc. Not saying our M is doing that. I'm saying I do that.
Helenna, you will laugh when you find out I had giant boobs, and then double mx, and I swanned into work the next week with no foobs, and just basically dared anyone to say anything, and no one has. There isn't any way they haven't noticed. Well, actually, I swanned in with one side flat, and then, eight weeks later, with both sides flat. Of course, you should do whatever you want. Even if I wanted them, I really can't tolerate any foobs or bras rubbing on my area.
ND, I don't know if I told you. I am sorry about your friend. Spindle cell is the kind I have too. They thought it was stage III lobular, and this was at Penn, a very fancy state-of-the-art business. But in fact it was a very rare spindle-cell tumor that doesn't tend to mets, but does tend to recur. It's been studied at three international tumor panels. It doesn't respond to any chemos. If it does recur, it's not good news.
Helenna, it bears mentioning that MD -- and the rest of my family -- just pretends that I don't have any bc at all. Although I have had a partial mx, an 11-cm lumpectomy (benign, that one), seven punch biopsies, a BMX and two related sx to the BMX, I have heard tell that MD thinks I have made the whole thing up.

I reply to myself. Oy! There goes our M, flogging the Marika loungewear! She must get a percentage! M, how is your back? Birdie, was peeing myself about your crows.

Hello Bobo, can't say I am surprised that MD, "Mommie Dearest", for the new ones, has found a way to include her reflux into the mix again. She's quite a gal! How she can completely ignore all you've been through, is just mind boggling and sooooo selfish.
I knew I'd cop a beating from you about the Marika, or was it Amoena? No, no commission, just more great clothes! LOL I do enjoy a joust with you!
My back is really good this morning, thank you! I think it will be fine after a massage in a couple of hours. I know she'll bring tears to my eyes, but analgesic Essential Oils and a hot bath after will fix it, I am sure. I have actually been taking analgesics, very unusual for me!
What did you do for your Birthday? Hugs to you! and Happy Belated Birthday!
One of my ex husbands, just shared this on FB, so I thought I'd share it here!
Today is Friday the 13th, my wonderful Dad used to try to stay in, on Friday the 13th, not that he spoke of this to me till I was an adult, but during the war, he was in the Merchant Navy on Hospital ships. On Friday the 13th his ship was torpedoed and he spent some hours in the sea, till he was picked up by another ship, which was also torpedoed, shortly after, but still on Friday the 13th. This time he managed to get into a lifeboat with 4 nurses, one of whom passed, during the 10 long days they were adrift in hostile seas.
I always think about my Dad on Friday the 13th, he passed on New Years Day '94 and I wonder how some people survive, seemingly unscathed, from such unspeakably terrifying things. I have never met a more fair and positive human being in my life.
Take it easy girls....M x

Bobo, Sorry about your Dad. Interesting that Mommie Dearest is again putting her health concerns above his. Wow! Tums vs chemo, how to choose?
M, Are these crop tops really yoga bras? They make tops that are hip length but my impression is that you're meaning the bras.
I've seen/heard a few crows today, so they didn't all vanish overnight. This seems to be back to the normal few, however, and it's mostly quiet.
DH says Goldie meowed in the middle of the night and crashed around in the downstairs hall (we sleep upstairs). When she does this, she's very loud and sounds like a Siamese. He said he thought she was playing tiger because several toys were in the hall. I slept through the whole thing.

Hi Wren, I guess you could call these Yoga bras, we call them crop top over here. They are sort of like a tank top that has been cut off at the chest. M

That's right, Birdie. Tums vs chemo...in the penis. And removal of the bladder. And then however it is that they will make it possible to pee. Although, to be fair, she has a hernia of some kind from being overweight, it is releasing acid, and they will go in laproscopically and 'tie off' the hernia. So that's something. Or you could just have a salad.
Ahhhh. An excellent Goldie story, just when I needed it. I love our feisty Goldie! She is getting her confidence back. Today when I dropped our baby at Feminist Separatist Rock and Roll Camp (where she is slapping the bass), I made Wm wait on the porch, as usual, because that is a sacred women-only space, and as I was going in I saw this rather mighty-looking lesbian out on the porch, dealing with her phone. She was striking up a convo with Wm as I went in. She said, 'So. No feminist rock camp for you, huh?'

Oh dear Bobo, you always give me something to smile at. I am imagining Fundoplication Surgery for your MD. There is a syndrome that goes with that surgery called Gas Bloat Syndrome ie: Spontaneous Farting! Oh my, if she has that done you'll never see her again, she'll be too scared to visit!
On a serious note, I am glad to hear things are moving along for your Father. They do great redirection surgery after bladder removal. Not a pleasant thing too go through, I am sure, but hopefully a really good result.
So it's that time of year again for our Princess to do the Feminist Band Thing, any pictures? I wonder how Wm answered that question, he's not shy, is he?
I hope you have a good weekend...M x

Bobo. Will farting keep your mum away? Good luck with the visit tomorrow. What did William say?
Goldie stalking her toys. I love how cats can be so quiet but then sound like a heard of elephants when they want.
I found memory foam bath mats on clearance. Bought two for either side if the bed. So nice to step on. We don't have carpet. Snuffy is sleeping in on the mat. Wouldn't get up with me.
Boy's naps are wearing me out. Had to have his inhaler last night too. He's up before the baby. She can't handle these evening picnics. Been biting, screaming, telling teachers no.
Three questions. Anyone know anything about the sippy cups on tv and carried in Walmart? They are 10! Look like a regular cup. Wow cups.
I sautéed shrimp last night. Trying to duplicate the salt and pepper shrimp at Chinese buffets. It was awful. Kids ate it. DH forced it down. Used red shrimp? Cornstarch, salt, pepper in butter and olive oil. It was sweet. Ugh. Any suggestions?
Anyone tried Paula Dean's corn and frito salad? Corn, peppers, onions, cheese, chili cheese fritoes, mayo? May sound gross but it is awesome. It went fast at the picnic as did the cheese grits:( my fav.
How to train your dragon 2 opened last night. It's at the drive in. Was too tired to go. Maybe tonight.

Hi Zills, I can't help with most of that stuff, but I use green, uncooked shrimp for any deep frying seafood recipes. If we are talking about the same thing, the red shrimp are already cooked. The I usually devein and butterfly the raw shrimp. Then dry on kitchen paper and toss in either rice flour or cornflour with salt and pepper, drop into really hot oil to fry.
I wish there was a drive-in near here, I used to love to go, we had one just up the road from my parent's house.
Loved the 1st How to train your Dragon, must watch out for this one. M x

Bobo, Peeing myself "or you could just have a salad" ......................................
M spontaneous farting ............... That would be awesome payback .
Gramma B again so sorry about your DD
Hope you all are doing well . I am getting ready to head to our mountain property for a week to "see the retirement house" DH has been building . I have not been there in over 1.5 years due to all this cancer crap . I have seen tons of pics so I don't think there will be any surprises but I am sure I will have to get rid of many more things than I imagined. I told him "we need to downsize" I don't want to clean all this crap !
Here is Today's Random Thought..........................

Love that random thought Fia!
Wow, it doesn't matter how many pics you've seen, I bet they won't do it justice. I hope you do get a wonderful surprise when you see it, how exciting. M x

Thinking of you Bobo, MD just never quits does she? or should we just have salad cracked me up too!! Stress is something that never leaves us it seems, you have your share and more.
Fiaranch, good one!! a mountain retirement home, sounds wonderful, well to me only if I dont have to look down on any mountain, I have a great fear of heights, only like to look at mountains from a distance unless I am closed in on both sides of road. Hubby is going to retire in Dec... half the money, twice as much hubby can I handle this??
Zills, cant help with any advice on shrimp, or sippee cups. Hope things settle down with kids. I love drive in movies too but havent been to one in many years! probably fall asleep now!
Anyone here have issues with burning aching feet at night after going to bed? Doesnt matter if I am sitting all day or on them all day. Hate to have to take meds to stop the aches but I do. I have a foot massager so am going to try that for awhile, am wondering if it could be the arimidex I am taking,, any suggestions or advice?

ND sounds like the beginning of PN. If so, not much you can do. Any chance you might be diabetic, running high blood sugar? There are meds that May help, trial & error there. I use BioFreeze on my feet, if it's really bad I use a lidocaine patch. Check with your doc.

ND ,
LOL Yes I am worried about the income and twice as much hubby . We literally have really not lived together much for about the last 15 years . I traveled full time for work and was only home on the weekends and he has been planning and building for the last 5 years . I guess the good news is that there is 84 acres and he has several out buildings so we can keep some distance LOL . However I still like him when I see him on the weekends and we have made it 23 years . But I will tell you this cooking and cleaning CRAP SUCKS !!!!

I have the achey feet sometimes. It helps to massage hand lotion all over my feet and calves. The hand lotion is usually cold (along with the rest of the house).
It's 10am and rainy 58F here. We're supposed to get back up to 70F on Tuesday. No wonder we can't grow basil very well here. Our tomatoes get ripe in Sept.
We had dinner last night with my cousin and her husband from Oklahoma. They're here for a cruise to Alaska. She retired last Wed and is already nuts from not having anything to do. She's going to look into volunteer work. They also have a motor home and a dog who loves to go, so more travel in their future as well.

Spookies, no not diabetic, hubby is and checks his blood sugar regular and I do mine once in awhile. I am drawing a blank on PN?? some sort of nueropathy? I have some Biofreeze, will try that tonight.
Wren, our tomatoes dont ripen until Sept either. Things are slow in garden but still growing, we need some heat! Cruise to Alaska sounds great, on my bucket list. Like to travel but not in a motorhome anymore, gas and parking it is too spendy now. I am afraid for dh, he likes to work but has to retire sometime, he should have been retired 5 years ago according to stats and what is expected, but that wasnt for him. We live in such a rural area that not alot of part time activities or jobs either.. we will see how it goes, maybe I will be looking for full time work!We will be married 48 years this summer so guess we will make it.
Thanks for the tips on feet.

ND yes, perifreal neuropathy. Gabby is also known as Neurontin. Usually used for PN, can be effective. I couldn't take it, made me toooooo sleepy. Good no D!!

Morning ladies, count me in with the hot feet too, nothing new for me, I can't remember not having them. I stick my feet out of the cover at night and in the Summer I keep a spray bottle of water beside the bed to mist them when they really bug me. I get a bit of restless legs occasionally, and cramps from the steroids, but take magnesium these days which has helped a lot.
Everyone told me I'd go nuts if I retired and that I would go even more nuts if Colin did! Fortunately for us, it has worked out well. It took some getting used to having him at home all day, when I was used to him leaving at 8am and he wouldn't be home till 7pm, but he started working from home on the computer, an online business, as well as his Forums and other things, so it hasn't been bad at all.
I loved my work and loved all the travel, but I don't miss it at all and actually wonder now, how I ever had time to go to work! I suppose making this big move, with such a big renovation came at a good time too. It has been about 7 years since I retired from the workforce, but I am still Colin's primary carer, even though we have 3 girls who help out regularly too. It sure makes a difference when the 2 incomes are no longer there.
Those Alaskan cruises look fabulous,nd, I know a few who've done them and rave about them. I just hate the idea of the flight to get there, to start the cruise and then to get back here again.
Fia, that's quite an area to have some separation in! I hear you about the cooking and cleaning, I am not nearly as fussy about the housework as I once was and I am lucky that the girls who help with Colin, do some housework too, also, this house was designed low maintenance. The cooking is very different to what I used to do too. The Vitamix and the Air Fryer have streamlined the cooking for me. I just hope we never get sick of the food! LOL
Well, it really is Winter here now, it's very chilly in the mornings, the snow season has begun, just an hour from here, and last night the rain poured down incessantly and then the wind started howling. I got up this morning to everything in the garden sagging under the weight of so much water, no sun, just grey today.
I hope you're all ok, enjoy your weekend...M x

M, this may work better as a PM, but here goes. A long lost acquaintance showed up at the dog park, was telling me she gets Tri-Fexis for her dogs from Aus, cheaper and no rx needed! It was Joes something or other, she didn't say a city either. Have you heard if this, or maybe a TV or print ad?
Thanks, and don't freeze!
0 -
Hi Spookiesmom, I am not familiar with that actual brand, but just looked it up to see what it was. I use Sentinel for Dex, same type of thing . We don't need a prescription for any of those pet products. I can't find anything "Joe" in Aus, there is a JoesPetsupply.com but I think they are in Britain.
I just found a place here in Aus that has it, but it has a big red warning saying that TriFexis can't be sent to the US because you need a prescription for it. I guess your friend takes a risk of it being stopped by customs over there. If you find out more info on it from your friend I am happy to search it for you and find if I can post it to you. M x

Good morning! At the airport, so finally have a bit of time to catch up.
Bobo, oh MD just never changes, does she? She does provide lots of material for a comedy show! What is the "separatist" part in the feminist rock camp?
M, sorry about your father and Friday the 13th. I can' t imagine everything he lived through during the war, and being adrift at sea... It must have completely changed him. I hope your winter weather won't be too rough.
Thanks for the Goldie update, wren!
Sorry about your feet, nd. I don't have that issue but i haven't sleeping well in a while, i'm hot, i'm cold, and not even on tamox yet! Also, it's too hot to wear a night cap on my bald head, but i don't like feeling air on it. When the AC kicks in, my noggin is a little cold. So, retirement for your DH? That will definitely change your life! Will you continue working part time? Any plans with what you guys will do with all the free time? Congrats on the 48 years! It's only been 9 for DH and i, i think life will take care of us before we reach that point, with DH already 46 yrs old! But you never know...
Fia, 84 acres, wow! I can't wait to hear about your impressions of the place! When do you think you would move there?
Zills, sorry, can't help with sippy cups, shrimps (i don't cook shellfish, don't like it much), or the Paula Dean mix. Will you make DS stop his naps soon? I assume he won't nap at school in Sept? DS finally got to see How to Train Your Dragon this week, his GF lent him the DVD. We have a date for them and their third wheel friend ( a boy, quite the love triangle!) to see Part 2 in a few weeks.
I got the results from my mole biopsy on Thursday, and it was benign, so B9 all around for us!
Spookie please ask your skies for a little break from the rain while i'm there, it's supposed to pour during my short stay, and in NYC too! See you soon!

otceb, I hope you have a great flight!
Thank you for the kind words, Friday the 13th always makes me think of my Dad.
Great news about your Biopsy! I love to hear about your son and his gf...sweet! I hope you don't get too much rain while you're away...take it east..M x

Otceb,
WOO HOO !! on the B9 Biospy ! DS love triangle is ADORABLE !! Enjoy him as they grow up way too fast !!!!
Getting ready to leave for the mountain house trip . If things go as planned we should be moving in the fall ................... Last night I had the strangest TAMOX dream....... We arrived at the house and I got the tour ...................... I said I wanted a real house not a doll house .............. It was like everything was miniature LOL . So I went on a rant saying I knew I agreed to a smaller house but now we are going to have to turn Amish and have 1 chair 1 fork and one bed ...................... To which DH replied well I guess if you want more than you will have to start making things just like the Amish do .................... Unreal I swear I have never had such crazy dreams as I do now on this Tamox !
Have a good week all !!! I will report in when I return

Have a wonderful time Fia. I hope the house is everything you want and hope for! Enjoy yourself! M x
