Checking in to see if Helena has checked in.  Wishing all the best for her.

I've been reading, but haven't posted in a while. Glad some of our sisters have returned, and that 2 actually got to meet in RL!!  How cool is that?

bobo, sorry you are having such a tough time getting married.  It wasn't too long ago I was hoping DD and her DLLP would take that step.  But boy howdy, am I ever so glad now they didn't!!  Ex-dllp is being a real biatch and causing nothing but grief and expense for DD!  Ex is making everything hard.  For example, Monday my DD was to pick up Jax at preschool to begin her 2.5 day custody.  Ex rushed off to school and picked her up early claiming my DD didn't answer an email so she wasn't sure she'd pick up Jax.  DD had to take her dad with her, just to have a witness, to finally pick up Jax, a good 2 plus hours into DD's precious time.  Ex thinks she is going to get some of DD's retirement....um NO!! And she wants to change DGD's last name to hers just for starters.  Mind you she is no blood relation to DGD.  DD is the biological mom, her egg with donor sperm.  Ex carried the baby thus a surrogate at best. She has history with her ex-husband of totally cutting off their daughter from him and all his family.  I really fear that is her plan again.

I just wish they could do this in a more amicable way w/out dragging Jax into it.

Sorry for the rant!!  This is just breaking my heart.

gB, I am so sorry that it isn't getting any better. I know this is possibly a naive statement, but wouldn't you think that 2 women could sort this out better, than having man in the mix? I don't get it, it isn't rocket science, it is, in the grand scheme of things, a parting of the ways with a child as the only real concern, equal rights and no stress on the child. Simplistic, I know, but it just shouldn't be this hard. I hope things start to resolve for all of you soon, you'd think perhaps a little distance and some time, would have calmed things down. I can imagine how heartbroken you must be feeling and the distance makes it impossible to just pop over to give your girl support in person. I bet those skype lines are burning! i wish you all the best..M x

    Thanks Ariom.

You would think they could, but this woman is so vindictive, manipulative and downright devious that is never going to happen.  They are still going to mediation, but I haven't seen anything good coming from that so far.

We use FaceTime on our macs and a lot of texting!

hello!  Continuing my visit of airports.... This one not planned. There were thunderstorms in Toronto when my flight back from NYC was supposed to land, so they ended up diverting us to Montreal! As much as i like my home town, i wanted to be home, not there. And no late flight available so they put me in a hotel overnight. Grrr. First time in all my travels that i've been diverted - i've had delays, cancellations, etc., but not actually having to stay in a different city.  AND we lost power at home, so no phone line, and DH had his cell phone off all evening!! I was furious, couldn't get a hold of him to tell him what was going on, not to expect me, and i was worried about DH and DS too. Last email from DH was power out, then nothing. And i thought "no, he would't have his cell phone off on an evening like this, maybe something happened".  He finally clued in at 11:30 PM and we connected. Anyway, i'm running on little sleep, have had trouble sleeping at the hotels with AC hitting my bald head. I will try wearing one of the scarves/hats at home, the sleeping cap would be too thick in this heat. I hope my flight out this morning is not delayed, just want to be home!

Anyway, NYC went well too, meetings were good, and no rain, just very hot. My hotel was across the Rockefeller Center, and clients were nearby, so i had a chance to walk in that great area. Went for a short run/walk in Central Park, so lovely and felt like a New Yorker!

    Posting before i lose it.

jsj, good to hear from you! Oh, that seroma must be a pain, scary and annoying. I hope that's it for you and it just continues gently healing from here on. Good luck with the hysterectomy, let me know how it goes since i'll have mine in the fall. Hugs!

Hollyboo, good to see you. Sorry about the house, but you will be happy wherever you are. It's filled with good memories, but you will still have these even if you are not there anymore. Good luck with the divorce.

Dawn, how stupid and insensitive of that chaplain! Poor kids who still believed, a little childhood magic disappeared.

Ndgirl, glad you like your pj's! It is funny how these boards become a source of info on many things in addition to BC stuff!

M, glad you like your purchases! You sound so stylish, i wish i had your talent and vision!

Spookiesmom, wow, nice car!  Does DH still take it out for rides, or does he keep it parked? I hope the heat is not as bad!

Bobo, good luck with the fed marriage!

GB, glad to see you post. What a situation with your DD's ex, what a biatch undeed. I'm so happy DD is holding her own, your GD will be just fine with a strong parent like her.  Take care!

forgot to mention that flying post BC/tx has been ok despite wearing the sleeve and gauntlet on the plane. Had one nosy woman ask what i did to my hand, i just said i was preventing swelling post surgery, didn't feel like talking about BC. Security has also gone well, except one agent patted my head after i went through one of those 360o scanners. I wonder what the wig looked like in that scanner!

    Hello all !!

Helena hope you are on your way to a speedy recovery. OC and Spookie great that the 2 of you got to meet ! Wren we need more Goldie updates ! ND my DH would have garages full of old cars if we were rich. GrammaB I am with M I will never understand how people can be so horrible and put children in the middle . Bobo still peeing myself over "or you could just have a salad"?  Zills I am sure you are getting excited for the trip .  M loved the long dress !  Hello to everyone else I did not call out by name and hope you are all doing well .

I returned for the retirement house visit .  DH has done a great job thus far and I wont have to part with as much as I thought (wheew !) Not that there is still not TONS to go through and get rid of .  Our place will be remote (like GrammaB) so that will bring its own challenges but I am ready for a more simple life.  The most amazing part was that I did not think about cancer for 4 whole days .

This picture is on the road to our property . First excuse my hair from hell it was not "bed head" the wind was blowing .  We believe this herd of is a combination of wild horses (as many have scars from fighting) and abandoned horses (2 have halters) .  Regardless they will be fed regularly by me when we move .

Hi Fia, they are lovely! How cool to have wild horses close to your property, well whatever "close" is, when your property is 84 acres! It will be so relaxing to be in your remote place, feed horses, and just enjoy everything around. I'm glad you were pleasantly surprised by the house, it must be a relief to know what it looks like, have an idea of the space you will have, and know that you like it. A great move to look forward to!

    Hello to all!

Hello all, well the site was down and I lost my post here from yesterday.

Fia, what a great picture. Horses on your land, that's very special! I am so pleased that you like the house. Very exciting!

otceb, that was quite a trip. I am glad you didn't have any problems with security.

It has been a lovely warm Winter day here, so Dex and I went for a big walk. I did all my grocery shopping and a few loads of washing, now it is getting chilly. Hugs to everyone.M x

Fia, love the picture! I have only seen wild horses in a state park in the western part of our state, wild mustangs, doubt you could get close to them. Glad you like the house.

Sure thinking of Helena, hope things are ok.

Zills, the big trip is getting closer and closer, are you excited? hoping you dont stress too much, seems that is what I do when going for awhile. Kids.. please stay well.

GB, we are taking a trip to your state next month, wedding at Big Fork so we will take a little journey. By the way.. what about the snakes? gone or what happened?

Otc, glad you are home, when is the next trip? hope you can stay home for a bit.

Well I am complaining about our weather again, nothing but chilly and rain, rain, geez, bring on some heat and keep it here for awhile! Cant golf, garden, or mow! might as well be winter.. Ariom, love you are having a warm winter day. they are special especially in ND.

Hello to everyone I did not mention, hope all is well... really missing Idesim and Gramwe.

Hello my wonderful sisters! Had my surgery on Monday and all went well, I'm home resting and happy.

My cold kept getting worse, coughing up yellow mucus a couple hours before surgery, the surgeon told me if I wanted to postpone a couple weeks….NO I didn't unless it was going to be dangerous. She said lets talk to the anesthesiologist who was a woman…it was all women working on me. She said I was healthy enough she didn't think it would be a problem. DH and I both still have it, a bronchitis he got from work. I will make a list of a few main thoughts I came away with that might be helpful to others over the weekend but for now just know that it feels wonderful to have it behind me, the incision site looks beautiful, no real pain and last pain med I took was yesterday.

One thing and I will post and repost on the surgery site, remember I had never had a surgery ever…….was CONSTIPATION!! OMG!! Yesterday I still had not gone and thought I was going to pass out in the bathroom. Had to go the enema route and woa nellie you better run down the hall fast! That was just awful. Live and learn.

Seriously you guys are awesome. I definitely felt the good vibes coming my way on Monday. And when I turned on my computer just now I see you guys were even talking about me!  The love and compassionate of this girls club constantly amazes. Hugs to all of you, from me in Indy ( put my city on my profile just now ) xoxoxox

Helenna, awesome to hear from you.  I am glad everything went well, and you are comfortable.  Constipation?   Urgggh!  Hope your bronchitis clears up soon, who needs that as well.

Thanks for checking in with us, and letting us know how you are doing.

    Dawn. Xxxx

Helenna, I am so pleased to hear from you and that you're doing well. So sorry about the bronchitis, not something you need with surgery, but you've gotten to the other side with all of us. That was quite a surgery, for a first surgery!

ndgirl, I am so sorry you are having cool weather, that's not fair, you had a long Winter.

I miss ldesim and gramwe too, I hope life is good and they are just busy.

The Farmer's Market is on today, so I will take trip up there this morning. I will try to resist the fudge and only buy stuff, that is good for me.

I am sitting here mesmerized by hundreds of ducks that have arrived, they fly around in patterns, just above the water and then they settle on the water and swim in different directions, it is quite something to watch. The Pelicans come and get in amongst them, it is very strange. Then they all line up along the beach in rows so that the beach is obscured and it becomes a black line. It is a grey day, grey skies and water and the black birds, quite a photo opportunity.

I hope everyone is settled in, ready for a good weekend...Take it easy...M x

I'll take your fudge. Ready for a cold creamy pint or an icy cold one. Will send the heat wave to ND. Have to settle for fresh pineapple.

LE acting up. Tingling in hand about gone now that I've been exercising.

Baby got a note sent home. Lice in her class. Ugh! There's only 6 of them so I don't know how we'll escape. My head itches just thinking about it. Letter said I have to check for 21 days! What a lovely present to take to the inlaws! And her hair is down to the middle of her back and fine.  DH may have to give in and get it cut.

Yes I'm making lists hoping not to forget anything. Waiting another week to get hair and nails done.

It's Antique cars week. Whoever has one has been driving them around. We got to see a tow truck.

Hope everyone has a good weekend. Looks like I'll be doing laundry and trying not to scratch:)

GB. I meant that DDs job wasn't a happy job. Swat teams don't get called out for good things. At least not on TV:) Tell her we are rooting for her.

Oh zills, I am scratching too at the thought of lice!

Whenever there was an outbreak at Bec's school, I would start combing her hair with a lice comb at night, when I read her bedtime story, she had very long fine hair too. She never had lice, that I could find, but I don't know if this prevented them or not.  I'll keep fingers crossed that you don't have to deal with these little critters! M x

DS got lice at the very end of school.  I made DH deal with it. We had just gotten into our HMO. I made them go to the free clinic for hippies because my very first appt at our new health organization was NOT going to be for lice. DD and I spent the entire summer looking thru each other's hair like monkeys. Her getting lice would have been a nightmare. She has very very curly hair and it was almost to her waist.

Helenna, Glad you're recovering well. It's the pain medicine that causes the constipation. They should have warned you. They prescribed Vicodin and a stool softener at the same time for me.

ND, I agree with you. We're doing really well if it gets up to 70F. And that's about 3:30pm. Cold in the morning and if there's the slightest breeze.

M, The birds sound fun to watch.

Hey all.. remember me? :)  Gosh I feel so bad neglecting you all.. but all is good here.  Feel like my old self for the most part, except for achy joints in the morning and achy knees always.

Been really busy at work and then just enjoying the weather whenever possible.  Today we had to close the office early as we got a nasty computer virus.

Came home today and there was a bird across the street that fell out of his nest.  Joe put him in a little basket and wedged it on the tree, but somehow the bird fell out again (the nest is way too high in the tree for us to get to) so now he is taking up residence on the porch in a shoe box.  Lined a little container in paper towels per advice from google and after a small dinner of catfood he snuggled up and went to sleep.  I tried calling around to find somebody that could take him and give it proper care (google says it's very hard to keep them alive) but everything was closed.  Hopefully I'll have more luck tomorrow.  The little bugger sure is adorable though, his eyes are open (I keep referring to it as male when I have no idea if its male or female) and he has most of his feathers, has some fuzz too which I assume will become feathers.  His feet seem very unsteady so while it's not a newborn, it's not ready to fly either.  I'm soaking dry cat food and boiled some eggs for his breakfast... I can tell I'm going to become attached to this thing!

The weather has been gorgeous, high 70's to low 80's during the day and high 40's to .w 50's in the evening which to me is perfect.

Gonna quit while I am ahead, still have keyboard issues and don't want to lose this post :)

Big hugs to everybody and welcome Helenna.. glad you are doing so well!

Helena, yay you  did it! so glad to hear from you. As stated above it is the pain meds, they told me to take stool softeners before which I did, but I never took many pain meds so really did not have an issue. Take it slow and easy for awhile, and nap whenever the mood hits.

Zills, lice.. oh dear, isnt there a shampoo that will kill them? my kids never had them but do remember an outbreak in their school. understand the feeling of being itchy, just like when someone finds a wood tick on them, then we all scratchBawling! maybe you can use the shampoo as a preventative? not sure but worth a try.

Wren, chuckling at looking in each other hair like monkeys!!

hoping for sunshine, so far little green onions, spinach and lettuce from the garden, still waiting on radishes, but we need some warmth or disease will set in if cool and wet continues...Tomatoes can be very suseptible to fungus disease here.

Yea Idesim! Good luck with your new baby bird.

Yes I will get the shampoo tomorrow. May be in short supply here and have to go to next town.

Got sidetracked. Have question. Know there's a death and dying thread. Not ready to read all of it.

We have wills, power of attorney, living will. He's named as my beneficiary. Both names on all bank accounts. Planned my funeral. Am I missing anything?

I need to scrapbook my kids first years, write them a letter and clean out the clutter. Also make a list of my passwords. Anything else?

Thanks. I know you all are smart women and can make sure I haven't forgotten something important so I can make memories with my kids and not worry about the future.

Nothing I can think of off the top of my head Zils... you sound like you have it under control.. as usual.. you're amazing :)

My little brother's class had a lice scare... we had our heads shampooed with special shampoo and I recall a metal comb? There was pain involved somewhere.. either the harsh comb or the harsh shampoo or a combo.  I don't think he or I ever had it.

Just got back and  it is great to see some posts....Zills yours stopped me in my tracks, but I understand why you want to get this stuff out of the way. I would suggest a video or taped message as well as a written letter to the children.

I have a tape of my Dad, which he made for Bec when she was small, just Nursery Rhymes and funny stuff, but hearing his voice is like nothing else. I wish I had one of my Mother too. I can't think of any other important things, but I'll ask a friend who works in a legal office if there is anything else she knows of.

ndgirl, I envy your veggies, mine are all finished, just some herbs left now. We have had a couple of frosts, so a few things got burned.

    How were the pajamas?

Hi ldesim, so great to hear from you and to know all is well. We've missed you! I hope your little bird does ok. I think of you often and wear my bangles all the time:)

Your weather sounds just perfect, are you doing much gardening?

    Fia, you are so pretty!

Just have a second -- going to Tampa to meet bco sisters at a lunch!  Taking whole family.  Bobo has babysitter, we have hotel.  It is a big deal for us -- we never go out of town.

Idesim, so happy to hear from you!  I love your new guy! Had a guy like that myself once, but he was a squirrel.  Sending him healing thoughts.

Helenna!  F bronchitis!  We have been thinking of you.  Lots of liquids for that, and don't lay flat all day -- don't want that mucus to settle.  Warm salty liquids.  You are a rock star!  Love that you had all women working on you.  That is like Beyonce's band!

Okay, off to get ready.  Both kids peed the bed this morning.  Ages 8 and 9.

OMG! It actually posted a photo! It has been refusing to post for months now. This is our front walk from the street. You can see why I call the yard "escaped from cultivation" - all DH's doing.
