Hi ladies. 24 hours until my surgery.

Feeling a bit anxious and scared but holding up pretty well. I developed a cold on Friday with a sore throat that has now gone into a slight cough, hoping they won't turn me away tomorrow. I am ready to get this surgery over and start on the healing and recovering phase.

We are going shopping shortly to load up on fresh fruits and veggies. I am going to make a vegetarian shepherd pie which freezes well in slices, and also pumpkin pancakes which I just switch out about 1/3 to 1/2 of the pancake mix for canned pumpkin (not pie filling) and then add walnuts, blueberries or whatever I'm in the mood for, keeps well in fridge. We eat those without syrup, great as a quick snack.

You guys have given me so much support in getting to this point, please keep me in thoughts and prayers for tomorrow. xoxoxo

Helena, sure hope your cold does not postpone surgery, I remember worrying about that too as I felt a cold coming on just before, but it went as planned. Sure you are nervous, think we all were, but you will do great and we are all here to support. Will be looking for an update whenever you are up to it. Hugs sent your way.

Ariom, oh that is such a story about Friday 13th and your father. The horrors of war never leave, we need to think of how others have sacrificed so much for our freedom.

OTC, you are back traveling? have a safe flight and hopefully some sunshine, we sure could use some, cold and chilly again today with another half inch of rain. We had some hot weather a few weeks back but again back to the cold/wet. Cute about your ds and gf. No we dont have too many plans, and yes I will continue to work part time as I enjoy it. This is a scary chapter for me and I know it should not be and he isnt really looking forward to retirement as many do, but will be nice to have our time be our time... time will tell.

Wondering how Bobo is doing,, hopefully she will fill us in on the weekend events.

Helenna. In the bag for you tomorrow. This time tomorrow it will be over. Remember your pillow for the ride home. If you're a tea drinker, take your own bag. You can do it!

Morning all! The sun is shining and the sky is blue and I am freezing! LOL

Helenna, fingers crossed that your cold won't hold things up. I will be thinking of you and waiting for a post to hear you're doing fine!

I don't know if this is of any benefit to you, and the others have heard it often. When I was staying in the Motel the evening before my surgery, I was on my own and very nervous. I decided to disengage from my right breast, so I actually spoke to it, told it it had let me down and it had to go! I know this method wouldn't be for everyone, but it actually worked for me. I felt calm and more in control. Just a thought, it may or may not work for you!

That food sounds wonderful, consider yourself hugged and we will all be waiting to hear how you're doing.

If it helps at all, I spent the night up and walking the halls having cups of tea and chatting with the Nurses, you'll be on this side soon! M x

Hey Zills, posting at same time! I hope you've had some rest since last time. Did you go to the drive-in?

Hi nd, it is a scary time, but I like to look at it as the trimester of my life, doing exactly what I want to do, with little restriction is fantastic. I do live in a town where you look twice if you see a child!LOL The population is tourists, at holiday time and people who have retired here, so because of that, there is so much to do. There are clubs and groups doing all kinds of stuff. Colin has embraced so many things and become active in the Yacht Club, Model Yacht Club, Mens Shed, helping people set up websites, not something I really expected, but he loves it.

I am hoping my parcel arrives with the new Amoena range today, I can't wait! I will fill you in when it comes. Did you get anywhere with the PJ's? M x

Spookiesmom, no, Customs don't check every parcel, but they do random checks, so you can lose your goods and be fined if you are transporting goods that aren't allowed. I don't know what you pay for these tablets over there, here, they are quite pricey @ about $50.00 for 3 tabs and the exchange rate at the moment is about 93c, so not a huge difference in the $. Postage, depending on the size of the package, from here is ridiculous too. If you ask your friend where and how she's doing it, I will happily check it out for you. M x

Yes,  I sure will ask her if she comes back. One pill for Spookie is $20, Kris' one pill is $21. Goes by weight of the dog.

    Thanks!

Had dinner tonight with otceb, she is here on business. So nice to meet a sister!  It was nice, but noisey. Being Fathers Day didn't help

Let me know if I can do anything further Spookiesmom! I forgot another dog, was quoting for Dex and Spookies size. I guess your prices are higher, I usually buy the 6 pack @ about $90.00.

How fantastic that you met up with otceb! I would love to meet up with all of you! M x

    Good Morning Ladies,

It's good to be home again.  I went to NY to help my SIL after breast reduction surgery.  Happy to say she is doing well. The procedure is a piece of cake, but she doesn't do well with anesthesia and as very frightened about the whole thing.  She looks like a different person now that we can see her mid section of her body!  DH was a bit frustrated with the driving-especially since he expected me to know how to get around, but I haven't lived there in over 30 years!  So happy to be home in my own comfy bed!

Helenna-in the bag today!  Sending calming thoughts and healing prayers your way.

Bobo- sorry about your dad.  How's MD?  Some people just seem to need to be the center of the universe, but your comments put it all into perspective.  You can't change her, as much as you want to, so finding the humor is a great way to deal.  You really crack me up!

ND- so sorry to hear about your burning feet!  I take Gabapentin (Gabby) at night for my feet neuropathy.  By night time my toes are totally numb and my feet hurt like the dickens.  Aside from the great sleep side effect, it does help calm my feet down.  Can't take it during the day so my toes stay a bit off all the time. "Grace" has never been my middle name so I have to be extra careful when I walk!  Ah yes, another gift from Chemo!  I hope you find some relief!

Gb- so sorry to hear about DD's DLLP being a vindictive bitsh!  Breakup's are always hard, but using kids as a weapon is the worst!  My heart breaks for you!  When my DD1 and her DLLP split it emotionally and financially devastated her.  Happy to say that she is doing much better these days and is getting her life together!  Keeping your family in my prayers! So happy to hear your ear was B9!

Will have to post this now as DD2 is talking about Anatomy and Physiology for a practical today and I can't concentrate.  More later, S

At the airport again, seems like the perfect time to catch up with this group, with all the waiting around we have to do at airports!

spookiesmom, it was so nice to meet you! Great to put a face to a name and it was fun catching up. Fyi, my aunt who has bone mets updated me today: it does look like she will get regular injections of a drug, in addition to rads and tamox.

It would definitely be great if we could all meet. Unfortunately, my current work won't bring me elsewhere than Tampa, NYC or London, I will let you know if this changes!

I had a good client meeting this morning, everything went well. i was hoping not to make a fool of myself in front of my boss's boss who joined me!

hi sgc, glad you had a good trip to NY and your SIL is doing fine.

M, did your Amoena parcel arrive? I have to make time to go to the store to get the lighter foobs i mentioned, i will look for the TruLife forms you like.

Helenna, i hope your surgery went well and you are resting. Gentle hugs!

Hi nd, zills, bobo, and everyone!

Ok, off to NYC, hoping the weather holds up. Take care!

Hello all! I am so sorry I haven't posted in a while, but I have been trying to read and keep up with everyone. I came back to work after 5 weeks out and it just seemed to really take a toll on me. We traveled to Austin over Memorial Day to see family and got the WORST stomach virus I have had in my life. I was actually the least sick out of the three of us so I ended up driving most of the 9 hours home. Our DS graduated High School on the 31st and we celebrated our 24th anniversary that weekend. We had our cousin from Denver here the following week and took her down to Palo Duro Canyon to see the musical "Texas". Needless to say, with all of the extra activity, my right side had swollen up to the size of a soft ball. I finally quit being stubborn when it got difficult to breath and called the doctor... he was out of town until today, so I made an appointment for this afternoon. By Wednesday, I was in so much discomfort I called the nurse back and she had me come in for a look. She took one look at my chest and said, I will be right back I am going to get the on call doctor. He came in and drained 200 cc's out of it, instantly making it easier to breath.  The seroma is back today to almost the same size so I am betting that it gets drained again today. I will be glad when it quits filling up. My hysterectomy is scheduled for July 1st and then I will be all done with my surgeries! I have missed you all so much and hope that you are all having a blessed and wonderful day. Hugz and love to each of you.

    All,

So sorry to say that I have not even been reading your posts without posting. I have missed so many chapters, per reading just this most recent page!

Ariom, I too want to hear about your Amoena Range. Why a range and not a microwave. Haha.

JSJ, Yikes. My brain would be swollen if not a seroma (Ha! Spellcheck just said SERMONS!) doing all you are doing.

Who is having the hysterectomy? That should be a breeze compared. If you are having laproscopic. Hope it IS a breeze. Still, more surgery. Does anyone else have a whole different take on the word "surgery" now?

OTC and SGC met in person!  How many of us have done that?

Hey, I would be up for a reunion, uh....FirstUnion? (Sounds like a bank!) In London or Australia. How fun would that be?! We would get no sleep, being afraid to miss something, like the delish pumpkin pancakes our newbie just described. (BTW--You are in such caring hands here. I hope you are through your surgery already today and starting to mend.) Oh, drat, I wish I had funds to visit with you all.

My divorce is inching forward. Our only asset is our house and we have a lot of equity in it. I still work and want to buy him out but it is starting to look not possible. Having moved all my childhood, it is a big deal to have lives in one place for 25 years and raised kids who lived in one house their whole childhood. Can you tell that I do not want to let go?! Of the house, not him. He I can let go of. Wish that were not the case but it is.

It might be easier to let go of the house now that I am developing a superstition. Our old doggie was just diagnosed with melanoma. So that makes four cancers in our household, all diagnosed within the last three years. Hard not to wonder....

Just in case my life might get one square inch of spaciousness....hahaha!....I tripped and rolled as I walked out of my office the other day. Yup. Broke my foot. Not even a bruise anywhere else. And I actually rolled all the way over during the fall.

Ok, maybe this is how I get spaciousness?!

Anyone hear about ZenTangles? Look it up on the Internet. It is so cool and easy to do. Meditative. Spaciousness made me think of this. A friend taught me how to do these yesterday while waiting for an annual outdoor musical to start.

It was closing show for South Pacific at The Mountain Play up in the hills in a 4,000 stone seats amphitheatre. My son Dash has performed in the last four years' shows. So fun. People bring picnics, hike (Not me this year! I covered my purple cast with a pink pillowcase sealed with duct tape so it would not get dirty.).

I hope whatever Bobo is dealing with in regards ro her DM aka MD woth Bobo's father's death can be softened with knowing her "family" she created here cares. Bobo, you have had a slew of lousy family relational stuff and medical stuff to deal with and manage since I "met" you. You could use a little spaciousness, too, dear one. Hope you get a little soon. You done good, Girl, in instigating this little radical, wise, funny, cantankerous, wonderful group of women, all with our wounds and wonderfulnesses.

    Wren,

You did not know you had CrowPower?! Now we are all going to want it. Sort of like Marika (which I had never heard of until this group and cannot wear at size 1x. Darn. They are so cute!) except instead of getting something you lose something!

Gramma B, I so like your comments about we all need someone to lean on at times. (Song singing in my head, Lean On Me.  Ah sweet teariness.)

Dawn, sounds like maybe you don't have that support in your marriage? I did not. My truly wonderful mother had bipolar disorder and, as the oldest child of a single mom, I was often in charge and responsible. I learned not to lean. Besides, we moved every time my mother came out of a long hospitalization. So we wre never known very well by a community. So I found a man who is extremely independent. Does not need much from me. And does not expect me to need much from him. Darn. I blew it!!

Anyway, Dawn, I may be over guessing between the lines and applying only my own situation. But life has many chapters. And those chapters end at some point. I hope you find some of what you need and want in however many chapters remain.

And, Bobo, I think I misunderstood. Reading back, seems your father has been diagnosed with something serious but is still alive. Blessings on you and yours.

Well, well, well, what a wonderful read this morning ladies, so wonderful to see you back.

There has been a lot of travel going on. Sgc, so glad all went well with your Sil and her surgery. I do envy you the trip to NY, I always wanted to go when I worked for United, but every time I was on a training trip with anyone else they would always want to have a few days in Vegasm never wanted to go that extra distance to NY, always thought I'd do it , next trip, but we all got put off before the next trip came, I made the same mistake about Scotland, never made it there either and i still have family there.

I hope you are enjoying being home and back in your own bed, there's nothing like your own bed after being away for a while!

otceb, isn't free wifi fantastic! Nothing much else to do at airports! So glad you've posted here again! I would love to meet up with all of you, I wish I could have been there for your meeting with Spookiesmom.

Yes, the Amoena parcel arrived yesterday, I was in my element, I love it all. This clothing with the fitted bra inside is sensational. I have been banging on about the Valletta cami since my first fitting way back in January 2012, it was my first item, of this kind of clothing and I have been wearing them in an array of colors ever since. Finding these other items was just fantastic and the fit is great.

    http://www.amoena.us/Products/Home-Leisure-wear

Take a look, it won't be for everyone, but I got the long dress, loooove it! and the trousers, sleeveless shirt, short and long jackets in a few colors and I have the T shirts and camis that will go with the trousers and jackets too. The bras in these clothes are so good that they take the weight of a silicone Prosthesis without any stretching or pulling. I still like the foam weighted foob in them too.

jsj, I was wondering how work was going for you! I am so sorry to hear of the shocking stomach virus that you all had. That must have been the worst drive of your life too! So much going on all at once and a seroma too. You poor girl, I feel for you, that isn't fun. I hope it resolves itself soon. I had mine drained once and although it still resembled a waterbed, it did get less and less, but I had to slow down, to stop it refilling. Oh my, you still have another surgery in a couple of weeks, I hope you have some rest time planned, I am tired just reading what you've been doing!

Hollyboo, I am sorry you have the divorce inching forward and that you may have to leave the house you love, that must be hard.

Ouch, to the foot, I know how that feels, I klutzed out a few years ago and had 3 breaks to the same foot, in the same year. That moonboot became a fashion statement for me, I had it on for so long. I hope you aren't in too much pain and it heals quickly. I know it sounds stupid, but you were so lucky, not to have done something much worse in a total roll over fall.

Ha to look up ZenTangles, never heard of it, but thought it was going to be some kind of turning yourself into a noodle exercise, so glad to see it is a sitting quietly pursuit!

South Pacific, "Gonna wash that man right outta my hair!" "Bali Hai, I hear you!"...oh I loved that movie. I was addicted and would go into the city, to the theatre every Saturday and spend my pocket money seeing it over and over again. That would be fantastic to watch live with a picnic!

Holly, Bobo's Dad was Dx, but hasn't had the surgery yet, but you are so right about the great little band of women she has brought together here. How great it is to get up in the morning and find news waiting from friends scattered all over the world!

    Take it easy everyone...M x

Just checking on Helenna too!  Hope you are resting comfortably now.

M, love my Marika items, they fell so nice.  I need to get rid of my tummy bulge though, to be completely comfy in a couple of them

Hollyboo, my husband is awesome, I was just joking that I wanted an Irish one.  I just love the Irish accent.  So sorry about you foot, that must really hurt.  And your house, that must hurt also.

Jsj, nice to hear from you, I can't imagine how you drove so far feeling unwell.

Otceb and spookiesmom, I think it is fantastic that you got to meet up in person, how cool.

Sgc, very nice of you to go and help your sil out, I am sure she appreciated that.

I need to go to my dds school.  They have religious education for just half an hour per week, and have recently had a new chap there.  They are not trained teachers.  He told the class of ten/eleven year olds that there is no Santa, Easter bunny or tooth fairy!  WTH?!,   Who does he think is?  Dd still believed, and it was so cute when she left carrots for the Easter bunny, and milk and cookies for Santa.  She said all her hopes and dreams have now been shattered.  Geeezz

    Dawn. Xx

Nice to hear from JS, HollyBoo and Dawny again. That must have been one nasty stomach virus, glad you are ok. Sorry Holly that you may have to leave your home you love, We have lived here since 1971, the first 5 years of marriage we moved alot as hubby was working construction.

Dawny, how crude for someone else to tell kids that, when I was about 5 or 6 a self righteous Sunday School Teacher told all of us little kids there was no Santa, Boy did my mom give her the what for... and when my mom got in your face you knew it!! But never mind because I didnt believe her anyway!!

Ariom, my amoena pj's are here and I am wearing them!! oh I love them, got the capris for 20.00, cant imagine paying 89.00 for them, but they are so soft and I put the microfiber foob from Mary in just to try and works great, I may order the long ones for winter too. These only came in ivory color, which isnt my fav but for the price I will adjust! I also got a milano Genie bra that I like, of course they dont give that much support but are comfy. I gave the pj's a gentle wash and hung them on the line to dry outside, I should sleep tonite!! Will save them for when I am visiting or having visitors but just have to try them out tonite. I loved the long black dress, you will look spectacular in it!! I would love to have it but never go anyplace to wear it.  I did get to NYC with my son when he was working there, loved it, but not to live there but would have liked to stay longer and experience more the the sites. Thanks for the tip on the pj's.. boy these boards are great for so many reasons.

Thinking of Helena today, glad when we hear from her.

Hi nd, I am so pleased you like the PJ's, I love them, but never sleep in them, I have always just been a knickers sleeper, sorry if that is TMI. I actually bought pajamas for after my surgery because I thought neither Colin, or me would want to see my bare chest and scar, but they were all donated to the Opp Shop soon after, because, from day 1, I have never needed them. Neither of us have a problem with my chest.

I bought these Pj's for when I have people staying or if I am staying somewhere else and being half flat, isn't the way to go! I worried about the pale color, because I am dreadful at dropping stuff down the front of me, but they wash like a dream.LOL The brown, short sleeve set by the same seller is a nice leisure outfit. The long black dress, for me, will be something I will wear a lot, dressed up, or down. I tried it yesterday with a denim jacket and a white jeans jacket with chunky silver jewelery and sandals and also with the black jacket with my long strand of pearls, drop pearl earrings and heels. I loved it both ways. I am totally addicted to clothing with the bra incorporated into each top, I find it, and the sports crops, the most comfortable way to dress now.

I am glad you like the Pj's, I will let you know if I find anything else! I'd love to go shopping with you! M x

dawney, good luck at the school. I would go absolutely balistic at that RI teacher and the school would be getting a big serve too. I usually do the dance of the humpy back spider, but this deserves "balistic". That is absolutely wrong and a line that should not be crossed. There is all this nonsense going on about not observing Holidays, because it isn't part of one or another ethnic, or religious group's beliefs. That's just irrelevant, in my opinion, I have no issue with the beliefs of any other group or religion, each to their own, but leave the Holidays,  Santa, The Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy well alone, till we decide, as parents, when our children should hear that. I hope there is a really strong parent uproar at the school, you never know what's next on their agenda. geeesh!

I am glad you like the Marika, the quality is really nice, but the sizes do run a little small. Did the parcel get there really fast? I find if I organize a delivery on Friday night, our time, it is here on the Tuesday morning. M x

Oh wow! Spookiesmom, I can't wait to show him! He will love that!

I had a boy friend in the 70's, who had a convertible Mustang, so I used to drive that all the time and loved it. When we went to Atlanta for Colin to work at the University on a project, his Uncle, who lives there has a beautifully restored Mustang that I went out in a lot while Colin was working. He was so envious, and he loved the car.

Colin just got up and I showed him the "Stang" as he calls it! He says he'd love to have that! Thank you for the picture! M x
