O2: look at you!  Posting pics!!  You go, girl!!  Awesome to see you and the pups!!

Stacey!!  Awesome to see you!! Sucks about the transfusion.

Am I ready to go back to work?  No,, not really!  I'm enjoying being off!!  At least until I run out of books to read.  **will never happen**  I have one more week off, I go back on Oct 17th.

My BFF and I are going to the outskirts of Jacksonville (Orange Park, about 60 miles away) on Saturday. There is a new Reese Witherspoon movie out and it's not in Gainesville yet, so we are going there to see it. And then hit the mall there. The movie is called The Good Lie,,, previews look good.  *excited about road trip*

Oh wow! pictures, I love pictures!

Waving to you Stacey, with the gorgeous smile! I hope you feel much better, after the top up. How's Sailman?Hugs to you both!

02, great pics, and lovely pups! Great selfie!

Spookiesmom, they look so scary, I wouldn't want to be near one in a boat.

I just took Dex for a big walk and did the "Ramps of Death". I hadn't intended to go up there, but there was a creepy guy in a car, with no one else around, so I decided to go up onto the road. My neighbors are painting the inside of their house two doors down. They were outside having a coffee, so I stopped in for a cuppa and to see what they've been doing. I might do a bit of gardening this afternoon. Need to go to the bank to get change for Sunday. Sunny day and no wind...lovely. M x

O2 and Js, you are beauties!! Thanks for the pictures, love them. Hope the transfusion helps you feel better and builds you up.  I have never even heard of the tornado over water let alone seen one.. dont think I want to either but loved the picture.. we only see blinding blizzards and a tornado once in awhile.

I am wanting to see some of those movies too, hopefully soon. Well the cancer devil has hit againDeviljust got an email from my Canadian cousin who is my age, long story short... her daughter had breast cancer ten years ago, had two little children 2 and 4 at the time, went thru all the brutal treatments and has beaten it, now just found out her 17 year old daughter has ALL.. acute lymphoblastic luekemia, not sure of the spelling. She will be in hospital taking chemo for at least 4 weeks. My heart is aching for that family, they are just the sweetest people. Cancer sucks! Seems like every week we hear of another diagnosis of someone we know.. God it is an epidemic.

I am off to have a long overdue visit with my 3 granddaughers this weekend! Fun but will come home tired, but at least have a good reason to be pooped out!! Hope everyone has a great weekend.

ndgirl, I am so terribly sorry to hear about your friend's family having to deal with the beast again. It is just so damn prevalent now isn't it! There is barely a day where you don't hear of someone being diagnosed.

Oooh I envy you those Grandaughters, I hope you have  a great time. M x

That pic is more typical of water spouts.  Not usually so big as that first pic.  They can't come on shore very far, need to suck up the water.  And I guess if you saw one ON the water you could out run it.  I've never seen one, about a block from the Gulf.

Do you get cyclones/typhoons in your area?  You are so close to the water, and all those windows, that would be scarey!

I saw this where my DD teaches, freaked me out!

I thought you may be interested to see Colin competing as a solo  sailor. This boat is a Hansa (Access) Liberty 3.6meters long. This was a sunny day in Italy! He came 2nd in these Worlds!

We stayed at Cannon Beach in Oregon. The phone book had several pages of what to do in a storm surge or tsunami. A co-worker was staying there with her husband when the sheriff knocked on the door in the middle of the night and said there had been an earthquake, evacuate right now, don't take anything. They had to stay up high for several hours. By the end everyone was ready to kill to get a cup of coffee.

    Spookiesmom, that's really scary!

We don't have those scary things down this end of Aus, but in Queensland, which is up North we get Cyclones. I was there for one, many years ago and the sky went green!

We have really strong winds here, where we are, which come off Bass Straight which is between here and Tasmania. We are protected a little by the Dunes that we can see from here. They separate us from the Ocean and 90 Mile Beach. We do get unbelievable storms that roll in. I love to sit and watch them. I know we have lots of glass, but we also have a verandah which has toughened laminated glass as the roof, over it all, so we are quite protected. M x

ND: that sucks!!  Cancer sucks!!! So sad to hear of this.   Have fun with granddaughters.

Earthquakes freak me out too. I haven't been in one,, and I don't want to.

I have seen water spouts while down in the Keys. Pretty cool to watch,, as long as they are far away.

Hey Wren, not the way I'd want to spend the night on a holiday.

hose Tsunami pics are terrifying! I went on  vacation in a rainforest in far northern Queensland years ago with a gf from work. We were staying in a cabin in the Rainforest, which was right across the road from the beach. There was a Tsunami warning for Papua New Guinea, we both looked at each other and said at the same time. "we're are in a forest, in a shack, no one really knows exactly where we are!" A tsunami could have just taken us away and no one would even know!

Glennie, sorry I meant to reply to the Graham Norton question. I don't think there is a regular show of his on TV here. I have seen him, but not often.

Looks like we have a storm coming in, it has gotten very quiet, dark skies and muggy and humid, that figures, I have just watered the garden! M

Hey guys!  Today I am scared.  In addition to my PS telling me a story about a patient who recently had pulmonary embolism on table while having this procedure -- and this was with nation's leading expert on procedure, whereas my PS has only done one of these, with me -- and he told me this during pre-op -- in addition to that, DLLP is worried because she said I 'woke up screaming' in pain last time.  Pain is one thing, but I hate to scream in front of her like that. So I am a little anxious.  Clearly they do not know what they are doing with respect to pain control.

Full day today -- three classes back-to-back, yoga, shop for easy dinner on way home.  This weekend: full-on prep the house for sx, plus essay grading.  I hope I don't have to push DLLP to do some cleaning with me.  She is just not very clean.  I fear infection.  I am a million laughs!  Colin looks so handsome on the boat. Get a different anestologist than last time. Clearly the last one you had did not know what he was doing.  I can't believe stupid doctor told you that story!   That patient could have had some other health problems that precipitated the PE and he didn't tell you.    I want to bitch slap him.

In the bag for Thursday.  What can I do/bring??  I go back to work Friday afternoon, but still have mornings free.

The PE was because the procedure took too long, he said.  She had low body fat (like me) and it took too long to harvest fat.

Just called hospital to request anesthesiologist who helped me out last time.  I remember her name.  Let's see if that works.

Good!  And tell surgeon that you want that particular anest.   The hospital should TRY to honor your request,, they do it at North FL.

Sorry bobo, nd, DP. I'm angry, frustrated, Bobo's scared and our kids are whiny. Haven't we paid our dues? Only come near if you have chocolate or cleaning supplies that you are willing to use!

Feel off balance. Is it not enough water, not taking meds on time, weather change, allergies, lack of sleep? It's interfering!

Boy on fall break, house a wreck, going to meet cousins over the weekend.

Geeez Bobo, crap on a fucking chapstick. What is his guy's problem? I don't like anything about him, he's just such a jerk. I hope you can get the anesthetist you ask for, I remember you talking about how she rescued you with pain relief. Can this be the final surgery, or do you have to do it again? You never mentioned this being a long surgery, how long does it take? I am on a need to know basis now. I had no idea this was any more dangerous than any other surgery. Holy crap!

I so want his Skype address! Getting the power suit out of the retirement, for this bozo!

Hiya Zills, sorry you're feeling off balance. Could well be any of the above, how about just plain stress and exhaustion? Do you have anyone to hand the kids to for a day and you just do whatever you feel like? No cleaning or housework allowed, just pure indulgence? and chocolate! How about a cleaning lady, just a onecer? Surely there is an organization near you that helps out with housework and stuff?

I wish I was closer, I'd love to take the kids off your hands for a weekend! Hugs to you...there must be a way to give you some "me" time! M x

    Waving to everyone! M x

Hi M!  My other M, on the other hand, does NOT want to take the kids off my hands for the weekend...

The sx is scheduled to last two or three hours, but last time we didn't get home until almost five!  New issue:  I am getting scared of Versed.  I was just telling G.  Have had it for yonks, but am now scared and feel out of control, do not want to not remember things, and do not want to be compliant when I am screaming in pain (as I was last time when that nice Dr saved me with a block).  Working on getting her at this sx.

It's dangerous because a) of the propofol, which requires constant monitoring because breathing can stop and b) because he has to 'work' to get enough fat.  I am at about 22 BMI.  I'm not exactly rail-thin.  But that's one of the reasons why it's so painful.  He really has to get across the whole area.

Am scared of not knowing what's happening for days, and having holes in my memory.  Am scared of PS and his cronies seeing my vagina!  He's doing the fat inside my upper thighs, and they do not let us wear pants!  You know, I have not seen my PS's vagina, even though he does not have one, and I do not think this is fair.

So... just suck it up and do the Versed?  Or refuse it and perhaps suffer some consequences of remembering horrific things?  Report in.  I am giving a poll.  M, I have to have at least one more after this.  They are rebuilding the wall area, and then they have to do the final part of that. XXX

Bobo, you know I'd love to have your kids over for a sleepover! MD doesn't know what she's missing! Her loss...

I don't like the sound of this guy, one bit. Is he really trying to scare you? Isn't Propofol the normal anesthetic over there. It is widely used here for all types of surgery. Isn't that what anesthetists do, monitor you all the way through? He sounds very alarmist to me. I do get the bit about harvesting the fat and the pain associated with that, it is a brutal surgery and must be really sore afterwards, but puhleeeze, what is he on about. He is supposed to make his patients feel confidence and safe in his care. I jut want to Bitch Slap him into reality.

I just want to hug you right now. I hate that you are going through all this shit and you're even scared of them seeing your vagina, good heavens it is like one of those bad dreams where you're out in public and you have no pants on and a top that doesn't quite cover your modesty! Believe me, you don't want to see his tackle! lol I am so sorry this is happening to you.
I am not the one to advise on the drugs, you know I refuse them, for everything. I can't take what they do to me, but I say, if you can take them and they help with the pain go for it.

Not much help for you today lovely one. I wish I could help. M x

I hate that they get to see your vagina.  It's so intrusive.  Had no choice with my recent surgery as they were removing organs thru it!  YUCK!!!  *don't really want to think about that**

Did the Versed affect your memories for days afterwards?  It will definitely erase memories of the events around surgery, but if it is affecting you longer than that,, I would definitely bring that up.

Will bring soup, Starbucks coffee,,,, something from Trader Joe's??   I am at your beck and call,, until work time.  :(

Bobo, I did have anesthesia with the Mx, but did ask if it could be done with a block because I have such dreadful hallucinations for hours after I wake. Surgeon refused, said it was too long and not a surgery to be awake for. I watched one on YouTube after mine and understand why! lol

However, he did reluctantly agree to the dog ear removal, with just a local, he had never done it that way before and wasn't happy about it, but it went really well. I guess it helped that I am still totally numb on that side, I felt nothing, not even the local. I have had a number of surgeries, with a block where possible. I don't ever have any painkillers after surgery, I hate drugs, have had my fair share of rotten SE's with the real nasties, for Rheumatoid over the years. I rely on meditation and my analgesic essential oils. Certainly not for everyone, but it works for me. M x

    oh dear bobo~~~~

This is a nightmare that you have to go through and my heart is aching for you!!!   I hope you get the good anesthesia person.... But I don't much like your doc.  I know they have seen it all before but when it is our stuff on display that is very difficult.  But he will be focusing on harvesting the fat......probably won't notice the other.   Will be in the bag with you on Thurs.  Hang in there and try to relax. Pedicure??? Massage????   Chocolate?????

Keep us posted and we are here if you need to vent.  How does Valium do ya?  Maybe you could take some of that before surgery........

    O2

Ps. Keep away from MD, she is a nightmare herself!!!!!
