Happy Birthday Spookie!! Love the outfit!

Sgc, so great to see you, what a great read that was. Your Daughter is dating a para, that's interesting! The difference is where the break in the neck or spine is. Colin is C5/6, so right up in the neck but not as high as say, Christopher Reeves was. So Colin  is paralyzed from the nipple line down and being a quad, means arms too. He has little feeling in arms or hands. The pain thing in quads is complex. He doesn't feel the pain where it is, he knows he has pain by the way his body reacts, which is by raging headache, blood pressure that goes wildly up and down and by getting the shakes and sweats. Then it is on. to find out what is going on. Fortunately, Colin is very rarely ill, when he left his last job of over 12 years at a  College, he had so many months of sick leave, that had never been used, they actually gave him a bonus! Although he is a quad, he has learned to appear less disabled, by all the sports he has done, like his sailing, but it used to be snow skiing and water skiing too and of course he has always driven his own car etc.

He is also a lousy patient, hates Hospital, wants to be up and around doing things.

Must run for now, will be back a bit later...M x

    Genuinely laughing and smiling!

I extend this plate of crow with love and friendship.  Boy.  That was an old-school spanking you guys endured.  And your audience walked out before the game was over.  Those were not loyal spectators.  That is really rough.

I don't have TV, so couldn't watch it. Poor sportsmanship is more like it. Still, I'm glad I'm not in Athens or Gville tonight.

    I reply to myself.

A real-life re-enactment of an actual conversation that took place this morning.

DLLP washing dishes.  Bobo, in other room, dons old yoga pants that have many holes in them.  Favorite pants.  Because she had many errands to do, and was still feeling poorly two weeks out of sx, she needed those pants to get her through the morning.  DLLP hates those yoga pants like a hangover.

BOBO (offstage):  I am doing something that irritates you.  Can you guess what it is.

DLLP: You are plucking your eyebrows.

    Bobo: No.

DLLP: Sanding your feet with that thing.

    Bobo: No.

DLLP: You are going to watch Isaac Mizrahi on QVC.

    Bobo: No.

DLLP: You are laying down, but trying to drink tea while you lay down.

Bobo: Nope.  Something else that irritates you.

DLLP: You are going to throw a wet towel in the corner of the kitchen.

    Bobo: No.

DLLP: You're going to nag me.

    Bobo: No.

DLLP: Well.  I've named everything you do.

Bobo: You do a long list of things that irritate me too.

Bobo enters kitchen in yoga pants, big smile on face.  DLLP turns and only can see smile -- she misses yoga pants for a second.  DLLP is naturally clueless.

    DLLP:  You look beautiful!

    FIN

it's college football. My DD did grad school at u of Georgia, northeast of Atlanta, pretty little college town. I'd move there tonight.

Bobo and Glennie live where u of Florida is.

This particular match up is so intense it's never played at either schools field. Tickets to this game are inherited. As are seats.  We are teasing, but some take it personally, and cause quite a bit of trouble for the cops.

Football in the south has been compared to religion.

Spookie, Sounds like the OU (in Norman, OK) Texas (in Austin, TX) which is always played in Dallas. There's a corner with hotels on all 4 sides. Two belong to OK and 2 to TX. I think the police have extra officers on duty. Football and whiskey go together there with the usual resulting behavior. I had a Sat am class one year. 19 people signed the attendance sheet, 3 were in class.

Hi all, just back from Hospital, I went and got Colin Subway for lunch. His fave meatballs, with lots of Jalapenos and Hot Chilli sauce. He's a happy man! Was dozing so I left. Dex was in the car waiting, when I got there he was in the driver's seat with both front paws on the steering wheel, haircut is looking more like mine every day! I laughed out loud when I saw him.

Glennie, I forgot the name of the drug, but it is used for Prostate and a side effect is that it smooths out the area where the stones are. I got a better explanation of the actual procedure today. The Doctor had been in to see Colin this morning, I am impressed, Sunday of a long weekend and he spent some time, going through the whole procedure with Colin. Hopefully he will go to Melbourne early this week. The stent stays in for a short while and then gets taken out again. I still don't know how long he will have to stay down there. I am not planning to go too, because it may just be a couple of days, too much messing about to go for that short a time. Colin prefers I stay away from the Hospitals, he's always mindful that I take the steroids all the time and he doesn't want me to catch anything. We both agree that we don't need each other to visit often, in Hospital.

Spookie, I love Atlanta! We stayed for over a month on Peachtree in Atlanta while Colin worked at Georgia Tech. Colin has the most amazing cousin/uncle, not sure, who lives in Atlanta, he started Island Records back in the day and is still involved with sound in events in Atlanta. He came out to Australia a few years ago when there was a Tour of the worlds finest Ska bands, we went to all the concerts with him and when we were in Atlanta, he would pick me up in his beautiful blue Mustang and take me away for the day. I saw the most amazing Antebellum Mansions and he took me to yard sales all over the place. I had the best time. Poor Colin was stuck working in the  University while I was off seeing great stuff.

The Hotel where we stayed had a restaurant called Mojito where we ate most breakfast and dinners during the week and then we'd go out and try other kinds of food on the weekends. I loved the owners and one morning when the restaurant was full and some of the staff had called in sick, I was a waitress for them! They made me unlimited Crab Cakes for dinner after that! lol  I had so much fun there, even the boys who drove the courtesy bus would go further out than they should, to get me to different shopping areas and one of the waiters who was an absolute hoot, took me outlet shopping and then on the way back we dropped in to the Cemetery, so he could introduce me to his Mother and leave flowers! LOL

Would you believe we went to Florida after that and spent 3 weeks there. I may have passed some of you girls in the street! Well, maybe, you know what I mean! M x

M: you have had some adventures!  I am not surprised that people go out of their way for you,, as you do above and beyond yourself!!

I'm glad Colin got something good to eat!! Hoping this procedure will go like a breeze and he will be home soon!

M, so sorry Colin is still in the hospital, he must be driving himself crazy!  So glad you got him hot sandwich.   Thinking of him, poor Colin!

As for the other Colin, our college hospital is doing some groundbreaking research on leukemia...let me know what kind he might have. XX

HI ladies, haven't had a chance to post. I have just organized the product for another Beauty Day, next Monday for 12 members of the younger B C group. I can't believe how far all this product has gone and I still have boxes full of it. It takes ages to fill all the goodie bags!

Still no news of a bed for Colin in Melbourne, gosh I hate this time of year and this damned horse race. I doubt he will go till at least Wednesday, so who knows how long it will all take.before he's home again.

Bobo, the good news was that my friend is not facing Leukemia now. He was still having the biopsy today, not sure why, but the Doctor told him they were no longer looking for Leukemia.

Going over to the other thread before I go to the Hospital. M x

Wow,, you really had a LOT of beauty stuff!! That is great that it is going so far.

And I can't believe how the horse race is just stopping everything!!  I hope Colin gets a bed soon.

    Don't run yourself ragged!

Hi ladies, well that race is over for another year!

Colin has just been flown to Melbourne. He was disappointed because he was hoping for a Helicopter, but it was a light plane. I had to laugh and tell him to "Suck it up Princess, it could have been 4 hours flat on your back, in an Ambulance!" That was enough to quieten him down and then a cursory slap to the side of the head, was exactly what he expected!

He will be there by now, so now I wait to find out what is happening. I took Dex to Doggie Day Care because it  was just too hot to have him in the car, while I got Colin ready for the trip, then my friend and massage therapist came over for a coffee, so I am pooped again!

No rushing to the Hospital for the next few days, but have Pink Ladies on Friday, a fundraiser on Sunday and another Beauty day the following Monday. Still don't know when Colin will be home, so that may change these plans too.

Glennie, a cold, I am sorry, that's the pits, take care of you! How are you doing SMom? Do you have one too?

    Will check in a little later...M x

Me and my purple cast are doing ok. It is a PITA. I was teasing Glennie that I could hear her sneezing.

Air lifted. Wow. I don't think that would happen here. Hope all goes well now!

You wouldn't get airlifted here unless it was a real emergency!  Glad Colin is headed to Melbourne and I hope he will be home soon.

I spent yesterday sneezing and feeling stuffy. This AM, I'm stuffy but maybe it's too early to start sneezing yet. I just got up. Going to get some Zicam when I go out today. Co-worker says it's great, worked on her cold.

M: you still have a lot going on!!  Take good care of yourself.

Glennie.  Be careful with Zicam.  The nasal spray was pulled off the shelves by the FDA a few years ago because there were numerous complaints of people losing their taste and/or smell.  A lawsuit was brought against the company and a 12 million dollar settlement was reached for 340 people.   I'm not sure if there are still problems with it today...but please be cautious.

Happy belated birthday to Spookie!  That is the cutest damn picture! Sorry to hear about your arm.. ouch... that was quite the tumble.  I'm loving the fact that you call your GS a brat... most grandparents or parents for that matter won't acknowledge when children are brats lol.

Awesome update from SGC...  I'm sorry about your lack of fall foliage, it is one of my favorite times of the year.. however, you aren't missing out on much this year... the weather is so wacky!! I still have impatiens growing in the front yard and my hydrangea bushes still have flowers on them... most of the leaves are still on the trees and just starting to turn colors.  I was joking with Joe that we will be simultaneously raking and shoveling.

Laughing at Glennie wolfing down cherry tomatoes... at least those are good for you... I'm more likely to wolf down a container of brownies.  Sorry about the sniffles, hope you are feeling better

I am laughing my arse off over Bobo's reenactment, boy you sure do annoy the shit out of her don't you.   So are you telling us you went out running errands in yoga pants covered in holes? haha... you're lucky she hasn't done what I would do.. throw them out.   I'm sorry to hear you are still feeling poorly :(

Ignoring all the football nonsense.. hate football :)

M, I wish you had gotten a photo of your twin, Dex... that sounded adorable.  Glad that Colin is finally getting situated and hope that he is home with you soon.

Gonna hop back to do work that I don't feel like doing.

I am feeling better today. PRB:  thanks for the warning. I got the tablets. Took one. Will probably take one more and see how today goes. Boss let me sign off early last night, so I got to bed early!!  That probably helped more than anything else.

Ava wants a car ride,, she must be feeling better!!  Back later. Waving at all.
