Home again home again jiggetty jig!

What a day! It was all good. Had the mammo and all the staff that had been there for my Biopsy and the Counsellor for the Dx were there to see how I was doing. They were really lovely.

I am back in their system for the next 5 years now, so very close watch, on the best machines available. I am very grateful!

So everyone behaved in my bag, and I didn't get so much as a whiff of beer!

Were you warm enough ldesim, it was a gorgeous day!

Did you like the boutique icecream Zills? Colin had caramel swirl in his milkshake, and I had Lemon Meringue Pie!

Very tired, hope for an early night tonight! Take care all...M x

You didn't get a whiff of beer because I drank it before getting in the bag!  Fast.  Z, I love your prickly head!  My hair is standing straight up at the moment due to my excellent new hairspray.  I am bringing the 80s back.  Or the late 70s.  My hair is very David Bowie at the moment, it is bad@ss.

Spookie, six more weeks until... cooler weather?  Hoping so. I have instant menopause -- have had for the past year -- and I am the queen of hot flashes.  Hot flashing in 100 percent humidity is the worst. I feel like I am having a heart attack.  If I ever have a heart attack, I will not notice it.

Come to my house Z, I have the most excellent ice cream, made out of coconut milk -- it's mocha maca chip.  We will have to eat it at my house, then brush our teeth, since your DS is allergic..  XXX

Sorry gals, it is hot here but I cannot be ready for winter yet.. I love snow but we just have too much too long! and the temps are frigid with wind chills factored in... brr. But this is home so we endure it!! Really makes us appreciate nice days and temps!

Take care all.. check in later.. busy day ahead.

Ariom. Need to know about tanks. Gel strips won't stay on. Can't decide to go with something cheap to sleep in for the next little bit or splurge and get ones I can wear with foobs. Don't like myself in a tank or plain neckline flat chested.

Sister coming in and we're going shopping tomorrow night. Literally shopping until I drop. She's driving.

    Thanks.

Will be back later. Must nap before time to pick up kids.

Memejane, how long has it been since surgery? They drained mine once with a syringe, then the rest absorbed. If it's not too hot, scarves are great camoflauge. If it's too hot for a scarf, then try on things with prints. Somewhere on here is a thread about dressing for flat. A woman posted photos of herself both foobed and flat wearing the same clothes. There wasn't a lot of difference. It's probably more noticeable to you than to others.

Zills, are you asking about the silicone scar strips? they dont stay on? I bought some (Ariom had suggested them, what would we do without her) and I bought them at CVS, they are called ScarAway and boy they stay on! you can reuse them too, just clean and let dry. It says they also relieve itching and discomfort, I have had a little itching lately so am wearing them more often, I forget to put them on as much as I should, I know Ariom says she wears them at nite, I do that too but often during the day too. Have fun shopping but dont overdo too much!! Have a great nap!

It's been 5 weeks and I have been drained 3 times. I can tell when the fluid builds up because I start having that awful pulling feeling under my arm! Ready to be over with this is my 5 surgery first mastectomy 7 years ago then reconstruction and nothing but trouble since. Finally just had them removed !!!!!!!!

As I expected, I crashed and burned yesterday afternoon.  I so did too much the last 3 days while DS was here!  Still paying today!!

We went in search of some electrical parts yesterday morning, which ended in an 80 mile round trip south to find them.  Home and he finished up the last of the things that needed fixing while I made us lunch.  Air fairly clear, wind taking most of the smoke to the north of me. On the way to the airport could see thunder clouds forming.  DS drove to the airport, dropped him off and by the time I started my drive home there was a full on thunder storm in progress.  Sheesh! Rain, wind, lightening, dark clouds.  Not a fun or restful drive home!!  Add that to the end of the busy 3 days and I was just dragging by evening!

I popped in here last evening, intending to post, but just didn't have the energy.  Had my shower, (all by myself), still yukked out by the whitish skin on incisions, but put bandages over it as best I could. Made a little dinner and sat like a zombie in the recliner until crawling off to bed. Slept in this morning, got up made breakfast, did a load of laundry and by then wiped out again.  I should have stopped but had one or two other things I wanted to do so pushed and did them.  Now really wiped out and finally sitting w/my feet up in the recliner!  I must do better at pacing myself!

I'm trying to catch up as best I can with all that has been going on.... Sorry if I missed some appointments

First off, Gramwe, my heart broke reading your story.  No one should have to go through all that, you are such a strong person to have come out on the other side so well.  You have a cancer sniffing dog?  How great is that!  I know several people that have dogs that can tell when their blood sugar is too low.  They aren't trained, just naturals.  Your dog deserves an award!!

bobo, what a tough decision to have to make, my heart goes out to you. We all want our Princess to have the best chance at a healthy life as possible, sad that it has to have such a dear price.  But who knows, by the time she reaches childbearing age/is ready to have kids, there may be fixes that can be done that aren't even around now! One never knows.  Glad you got a chance to check out the new neighborhood.

My goodness, that's a tough list to read, and you are still going strong! Bless you!  Sounds like you also have a busy school year ahead of you, I don't know how you do it what with kids and all!!   Add yourself to the "don't overdo list" too! ;) I think I have passed overdo and gone into way over done & crashed because of it!

Feeling The Nap coming and don't want to lose this so will post and return later to finish catching up.

    Hugs!

Wahoo Ariom! I know you are so relieved and to have such nice people too. Thanks for the ice cream. DH went to get some but didn't get my text about what kind. My phone was turned off. He wasn't happy when he got home. And he didn't buy the right kind. Oh well. The boy will eat it. Have to get the baby's tomorrow on my big shopping excursion.

Had my first cup of coffee since April. Didn't nap but am sleepy. Will be an early night.

Zucchini bread is sweet with a hint of cinnamon. Too hot to bake anything. Have bananas to make into bread also.

The PT gave me the strips. Won't stay stuck overnight but stick to everything else. I'm sure the hot flashes from acid or cheap chocolate don't help. Need to get to the big city to get some good dark German chocolate from Aldi. Wonder if they still have those curry soups.

I have fuzz again. Hope I'll keep it. Have family pix for church directory mid Oct. Would like to get Chirstmas card pix done at same time. They might actually go out on time!

Nice long weekend coming up. Getting ready for round 6 on Thursday. Stay cool. Idesim, send it our way:)

Welcome Memejane. You've been thru the mill. I don't have any advice about the fluid. Sorry.

I like tops with gathered necklines or ruffles. Wore a tank today but didn't like it. I too am flat chested. Too hot for a bra and foobs.

Hi all, boy did I hit the wall last night. I was so tired after the day we had yesterday. I am not one who enjoys long drives, so the 5 hour round trip was a b it much for me.

Picked up Dex from the dog sitter! Can you believe we have to take him to a sitter because he can't be trusted to keep quiet? I have never had this issue before! Anyway,Carol lives a couple of blocks away and looks after dogs at home for a very small fee. When I picked him up, he was exhausted. There were 3 girls dogs there and he played all day long. Carol said they all had a wonderful time, and Dex slept the sleep of a very happy puppy!

Welcome to memejane! 5 weeks is still very new. I had mine drained once too, but I had fluid buildup for a good couple of months. It eventually just absorbed by itself.

You're not the first I have heard of having the recon reversed. By all accounts, I have read it is very successful. I wish you all the best.

You now have the option of flat and fabulous, or choosing whatever size you want with foobs, if that ever appeals to you!

Wren is spot on, the patterned clothing draws they eye away, Scarves are great, as is layering, if it isn't too hot. You'd be surprised how little people notice.

I am a Uni, with a size "D" rogue puppy on the other side, and I occasionally wear a tank under a shirt without a foob, and I have never seen anyone stare or even do a double take! I have reached the "I don't give a toss!" stage, and it is quite liberating! M x

Z, I must respond for our Ariom because I believe she is sleeping.  She is the authority on all things tank, and I am merely her foot soldier.  However, I will go out on a limb and say I don't believe it is necessary to shop until you drop. I think website shopping is better in this case, as there are not lots of stores that deal with our specific needs.

You speak of sleeping, and then you speak of putting foobs in the camis.  I think you might have two separate types of tanks for these purposes, though our A will probably have recommendations for those that could do double duty.  I might start with the Amoena website until she wakes up.  I have a couple of Amoena tanks myself.  In fact, some of them are covered by insurance.

She has spoken at length on this topic earlier in the thread, but it may be too much to go through.  I know she will weigh in with fresh information.  Meantime, I am sending you kisses.  XXXX

Bobo, thanks for keeeping the beer away, it's a smell I just can't take!

Oh my, I used to have David Bowie hair! I had Alladin Sane, haircut and color. It sure was badass! My Mother hated it!

I am so sorry you are having these rotten hot flashes. I remember them well. I went through the change really young, started at 38, finished by about 43. I took Evening Primrose oil for the flashes, and it did help.

You've just reminded me to follow up with that Health Food store that was going to contact me when they got the coconut Icecream in. I haven't heard anything, but one of Colin's girls made me some coconut an lime sorbet that wasn't too shabby! LOL

I hope you are going to get some fun time in this weekend Miss Bobo! Take care..M x

OH!  Our A is not sleeping.  She has just not yet responded to your specific Q, Z, which is something like Which camis should I buy for sleeping?  And which should I buy if I wear foobs?  I assume you want super-comfortable ones, and that you'd rather 'splurge' than buy something which is not suitable.

Ariom, love to think of our Dex at the sitter?  He doesn't call her a 'dog' sitter, does he?  He just calls her a sitter. :)

Welcome memejane!  We are quite a bad@ss band of misfits here.  In addition to being with us, should you wish to, you may also want to check out another thread... what is it called?  Wait.  I will look up the name..

Okay, so Ariom, that means you had hot flashes for five years?  Tell me that is not true.  I think I had between fifteen and twenty hot flashes today.  Spookies mom will confirm that it is maximum hot here.

Did you see Z's message?  She needs to know exactly what sort of tank to buy.  I believe she should probably shop online... please advise. XXX

My problem is the port. Have to try it on. Besides if I get it this weekend, I can sleep in it sooner. The PT thinks I can be done with the strips by time the pad is gone. She gave me enough for several weeks. I thought about bandaides to hold them on.

And yes Aroim has gone in detail about them.

Bobo, posting at the same time!

You are so right about the tanks! I do the majority of my shopping online. For the scar strips, I wear a tight shapewear tank from kmart or Target. It puts pressure all around so the strips can't roll up. I found my strips, the same kind that ndgirl has, I think, Scar FX, didn't budge too much, and also if they were washed in really hot water they remain really sticky.

I find the tight tank is good for sleeping in and under stuff if I am not wearing a foob, but the Cami is the way to go if you are wearing any kind of foob.

As Bobo says, Zills, Amoena, how I love Amoena! You've seen my "Shrine to Amoena" the Foobmoire! I digress, the cami called the Valletta is my favourite, dressy cami. It is a great shape, has the pocket and a bra fitted inside it, and the straps are adjustable so it sits high on the chest and doesn't fall away. You all know how I hate the "Fall Away!"

There are also the tanks that have the bra knitted into them like the Ahh Bra. I sometimes wear one of those with a "softee" pinned inside it. I like the super soft ones made from Bamboo fibre, but there are many soft options available for a few dollars at kmart etc.

I hope you find one that suits you.

Big shopping trip for you! I hope the soups are there, I have been back and bought more because Colin loves it so much. I have been adding chicken breast to it and making it a meal with crisp garlic bread on the side. I have so much trouble getting his Chilli Dark Chocolate from Aldi, they don't ever get much in and so I have to be quick to find any.  M x

Sorry zills, I forgot about the port. Of course it has to fit without going near that.

You can use tape to hold the strips on. I have done that, when it was hot, and I didn't want to wear a tank. M x

gB, I am so glad you got all that stuff sorted, but I knew you'd hit the wall. It is so easy to do, I know I was reprimanded here when I overdid it too!

It is amazing how well we feel, and think we can do anything, only to be reminded that we're not there yet. I was worried about your long drive, but hadn't figured on the storm too. So glad you are ok!

Take it easy for a bit now. The scar will start to look better soon. When you can have a shower and give it a good scrub it will start to fade away. I use exfoliating scrub, or scrub glove, on mine all the time now. Massaging with oils keep it supple. I do that in the day time and the strips at night. Take care..M x

Fair enough Zills, just go with the department store offerings till then. As Bobo said, you can get stuff on insurance from Amoena. A great thing because they aren't cheap, well they are cheaper in the US than here, but still pricey!

I just noticed that our Bobo has posted her answer to your appointment over on the other Flat Rant thread! Good on 'ya Bobo! are you having another hot flash moment?

Good thing I noticed it, or no one would know you're coming in the bag with us on Thursday!!!! LOL

nd girl, thanks for the well wishes, and boy are you right about feeling great! I was having "Jaws Music" moments for days before going...you know the one "Da Dum" that menacing sound that pops in every now and then? I hate it... but it is the only way I can describe it.  M x

Um yeah, it's just a bit warm ish here. Sauna is a good word!! Then throw in a bunch of hot flashes just for grins and giggles. I asked my MO for, and got, rx for low dose Effexor. It has helped a lot with the hot flashes and night sweats.

Good grief, I'm spooooo behind. Of course y'all all went on a fun outing without me. {Huff} Beer, Ice Cream, lunch with Colin! LUNCH WITH COLIN!!!!! oh now I'm really upset. Well at least M got a good report. : ) Now where was I that day????? Oh I remember it was DDs birthday. I mowed the grass, all of it by myself, pulled a muscle in my leg, had a horrible case of the claw, then got a frantic text from the BD (Baby Daddy) he couldn't afford to take her out to dinner, What to do? What to do?..well of course Mom would cook! Dinner for 10 with a bare cupboard and an empty fridge. Did a fast menu plan, flew to the grocers, limped home to cook. 90 minutes before the birthday girl was to arrive, frantic text from BD Can't get her a cake, What to do? Well of course Mom can make a cake!!! She got cupcakes. I pulled it off, she was thrilled, and surprised. He had told her they had reservations at a wonderful restaurant at 6:30. When they came in I welcomed her to Chez Wandaees, poured her a champagne flute of apple juice and escorted her to the table. It was great fun, limp, claw and all.

Spookiesmom, we are "enjoying" the same warm ish weather, its 7am, and the humidity is 97%, joy joy. We have plans to go to the mountains for a fall apple festival today, but I'm rethinking that plan. Heat, humidity, crowd, isn't sounding to inviting right now. If we do go I'll be going flat, not good foob wearing weather!

Bobo, in hot flash he11. Bless your heart, I can so relate. I've been up since 2am because of the damn things. Poor OG is buried under blankets with pj's on because the thermostat is set on Artic. The dogs teeth are chattering. Woman you've got to slow down! Please! You've got so many balls in the air. I so worry about you.

Now on to Gb. Slow your roll too. Please! You are another source of worry. Remember this is your time to pamper yourself, not take on the world. As always M is right the white part of the scars will get better soon, and then they will flatten too. My chest looked like I had a blind surgeon, they had been nipping on Bobos beer at first but now they look much straighter and aren't raised as much. Haven't tried the strips.

Zills, shopping? Shopping? What time do we leave? Hope you get yourself lots of pretties, some chocolates, and soup. You will be beautiful with or without fuzz for your pictures. We have never had Christmas card pictures done, I love getting them from friends, especially those with children I keep them so I can see how the children have changed from year to year.

Nd, snow will be on the ground for you before too much longer, where has the summer gone? Actually we didn't have a normal southern summer, much cooler and way way wetter than normal. Maybe that means we will have your snow for the winter : ) Love snow.

Welcome Memejane. If you have cami, foob, bra questions you've come to the right spot. M has guided us all on our journeys.

OG is up, time to feed him. Hugs to everyone!
