Zills, the kittens following you is the cutest thing ever.. it sounds so beautiful where you live. I just love horses. I think feeling lost has been the worst part of this.

What a sight that must have been, a coyote being chased by crows. I love animals, but I have no desire to see a bear in my backyard!!

Zills, this may be partly end of treatment letdown. It's pretty common for women to feel like warriors while they're on chemo & rads, then feel totally lost when it ends. And I'm not discounting hormones. I picked a fight with DH EVERY month on the day before my period started. You'd think I would figure it out, but didn't.

Birdie, I did that too. Every single day before my period, but I couldn't stop myself! Z, I love the picture of you with kitties trailing behind you. Can I have one of the Christmas pictures when they are made? I want to put it on my fridge. What was the decision on the antlers?

I have been thinking about Celine very often. She was my first thought when I woke up. I love you Celine!

Got a call from the PS's office. He can do it on the 6th. It's all set up. Psych next week. Buried in work right now! Wonder how our Ariom is doing.

When I lived in the Sierras, in CA I had a closer than wanted encounter with a bear. It was when my DH was still alive and just was dx'd w/Leukemia. He had gone to bed early and I was in the family room watching TV. There were some loud noises out on the front porch and DH called to me "What are you doing outside?" I said I wasn't and went to the front door to look out the window. There staring back at me about 3 feet away, just on the other side of the porch railing was a black bear. He was down 3 steps distance from me but we were eye ball to eye ball.

Not sure which of us was more scared, but he scampered off when I shooed him away!

argh, thought I posted this last night!! And unbelievably it survived a Restart. Go figure!!

Will post later, off to fitter!

OMG GrammaB, that is way too close! never had that in our town, but only about 15 miles away there was a black bear in a tree, I would not have believed it but the gal, whom I know well, had a picture of him. She wondered why her dog was barking so much early one morning and she saw he had chased the bear up the tree and she took a pic with her phone! he was not small either! I say he but not sure of that fact. They think he may have come down from Canada.

I enjoyed my company, both are lovely ladies, but boy I must be getting old... why does overnight company exhaust me?? at least house is clean and hopefully stay that way because on Monday nite I host our local Bunco club.. 12 ladies shaking dice!! we have a blast!

wondering how Ariom is doing, and Colin. ok Bobo, the 6th it is!! we are all getting ready... did you ask if you get the pain block before surgery? that worked wonders for me.. hope you can have it. off to a nap!

omg GrammaB that's so scary!!! Is it bears you are supposed to bang things together to shoo them away?

So glad the date is settled that gives you plenty of time to get ready before surgery and plenty of healing time before xmas. Is the hospital nearby? I'm not even familiar with the hospitals in FL.

Work week behind me.. today I am so swollen, I am having trouble bending my knees. NOthing like feeling like an old lady at 47.. it pisses me off.

I had gone to the Haymarket which is a huge fruit/veg market that is in Boston every Fri/Sat. As usual I got too many things and my bag was really heavy! I Have been slowly replacing rice and white potato with cauliflower and sweet potato.

Not sure what's on the coffee table tonight.. I'm not too hungry so probably sandwiches.

Replacing rice with cauliflower? I do not understand. Can you have brown rice? Brown jasmine rice? Short-grain brown rice? Quinoa?

I make mashed potatoes and turnips together -- it cuts down on the potatoes -- and then I sprinkle with scallions. I also make "cauliflower mashed potatoes" that don't have potatoes in them at all -- just millet and cauliflower. So good with mushroom gravy. I try to like sweet potatoes, but I don't, reallly.

DLLP is 47 too! Hmm. Hospital is about 15 minutes away. Sx date here before you know it -- what is it, six weeks? Yikes. Agree about Christmas -- I have high hopes that I'll be ready for action then (even though I am entering the strange world of TEs. Will be reporting in regarding pain level.

I am stupid because I think the bear stories sound cute. I know it is quite serious. Thinking about making a lasagna this weekend.

Exhausted after 2 hours with the fitter. She is kind of a flake so I hope what I ordered works out OK. She had very little stock and not too many in my actual size. I had to try on smaller versions with an extender in the back. She is leaving at the end of the month and not sure if they are replacing her. They have little inventory and it doesn't look like they are committed to the mastectomy products. But it is the only place around. If this place closes, I will have to go to Spokane for fittings in the future. I'll just make a mini vacation of it I guess...

I ended up with 2 Amoena Marlena bras (I have a GD w/that name!) in nude & blush; 2 Amoena Isabel cami bras in black & champagne, I think.....maybe white was so tired at the end I forgot! I got a set of Amoena 380 contact forms sz 6 and one set ABC Lightweight silicon triangle forms sz 6 also. I tried smaller sizes and they just didn't look right on me. The 6 is almost exactly how I was before. (Yikes!! I just googled the forms!!! The ABC are $214/ea!! The Amoena are $342 ea!! Hoooolyyyyy cow!!) Thank the heavens for ins!!

I have to say the contact form felt really good! Those of you that have them, can you wear them w/out a bra? Would you feel safe enough in them to do it?

Hope Ariom and Colin are having the best time possible under the circumstances.

The area I lived in CA often had bears. We were in a small subdivision in the Stanislaus Forest where most of the people were weekenders or "flatlanders" as we locals called them. So during the week it was very quiet. Every so often we'd have a mama bear and a couple of cubs near the subdivision pool. Yes, bang the pots together to scare them off. When we backpacked in Alaska, the rangers said to raise your hands above your head to make yourself look bigger (no animal in nature can do that so it is supposed to scare the bear) and say loudly "Hey bear, grizzly bear" loudly and use bear bells to warn the grizzly you are. A grizzly is more than I would want to tangle with!!

ldesim, I mince up cauliflower and it works great as a rice substitute. I don't eat any grains at all none, zip, nada. It is the carbs that I can't handle. I can do very small amounts of sweet potato, but at some point the small amounts aren't worth the trouble. I have to follow this way of eating because of my diabetes, but the flip side is I feel so much better than I have in a lot of years. The trade off works for me. You will be surprised how much difference small changes can make.

bobo, wow, that is great that the hospital is so close to you! The drive home that first day was a bit uncomfortable for me. You'll be home before you have a chance to be uncomfortable!!

    Hugs!!

Meant to add, I didn't get to try on the Amoena Isabel bra, I sure hope it works. Anyone have it and have any comments on it? (Looking your way Ariom! ;) )

GrammaB.. I too had a ditzy fitter the first time, but went to rochester shop after my appt. and they were much better. No I dont have that bra. I am interested in the silicone ABC form, let me know what you think of it when you get it.. yes, i hear you on insurance, those suckers are spendy! I think i need another bra too, I have an Amoena 614 and it sure isnt my favorite.. kinda cuts in my underarm after wearing for a few hours, but I really like my Amoena Mona 591.. not sure about these numbers tho.. I was like you, so tired and confused wasnt sure what I was ending up with.. about wearing the contact with bra.. i have never tried it, maybe look on their website and see what they say. Sure Ariom will have some good ideas when she gets back too. I really like my contact but dont usually wear it unless going out, I kinda forget it is there, but toward end of day the top kinda starts to pull away from my chest, If I remember correctly Ariom said hers did too, so maybe that wouldnt work if no bra there. I am finding I like ABC products almost as well as Amoena. Carbs.. do you ever watch Dr. Oz? he is having a guest on Monday that claims carbs are the source of Alzheimers and many other ailments.. I may have to set the dvr to watch. I must admit that I love carbs.. potatoes, bread, pasta, I know I would have a hard time giving them up, also I think this guy says we should be eating more fat! several years ago dh tried the Atkins diet for awhile, he has had heart surgery and cholesterol and triglycerides were his trouble and I worried that his levels would go up but they didnt, I couldnt do it with him, dont like eggs much and not a real big meat eater. and he lost weight too! he also has type 2 diabetes.

at that price, Bobo's knitted knockers may have to last awhile! I found a down vest in those colors you sent and bought it. It's called sour grape plaid. Just in time for the cold weather and no pink!

I wouldn't like bears or grizzlies.

Poor Idesim. Nothing worse than feeling like an old lady. I hate being stiff and sore. I know it's an SE but figured it's partly due to me sleeping so hard, I don't move. Also PT said my inside leg muscle was weak so I've got more exercises to do. I want to learn ti chi.

GrammaB. Whats a good high fat snack? Please don't say PB. I already eat a lot of dairy. Looking for something easy and tasty. Tried a smoothie with Greek yogurt. Yuck. My taste buds are worse than when on chemo.

Christmas cards should arrive in three weeks but was unable to add names to card. So will have to sign them all! So glad it was local.

DH and boy wore antlers. Baby and I Santa hats. It was all I could scrounge up unless I wanted UK wildcats with a big price tag (local college, licensed product) and they are blue Santa hats.

I did borrow makeup from my sister. Big difference with just blush on. Boy fascinated with my eyes. Won't be wearing mascara anytime soon. Lashes about 1/2 as long as normal and come out when I tried to wash it off.

Great minds think alike. Bought lactose cheese to make lasagna. Want to make chili too. Tomorrow's forecast iffy. May not get to go trick or treating. Heard possibility of snowflakes next week. So not ready.

ndgirl, at least I'll get to try things on when they come in to make sure they fit. What I liked about the ABC form was it came up a bit higher on my chest and when I ran my hand over it onto my body both on the sides and top it was a smooth transition, no bump between body and foob. I am sort of concave and it seemed to fill that in too. I actually liked both forms better than any of the bras I tried. I'm just hoping the right size bras will make the difference.

No I don't watch Dr Oz, not impressed with many of the things he has been hawking. Something everyone should know is that carbs are not an essential nutrient. Fats and protein are. Our body itself can make any carbs that might be needed. Popular myth is our brain needs carbs, wrong, our brain needs glucose, which again our body can manufacture from protein. Ketones supply plenty of fuel for our body and brain to function quite normally w/out a single carb. In my book, and I stress as a diabetic, carbs are basically poison. It wouldn't at all surprise me any other bad things carbs can do.

Zills, the best high fat snack is called a Fat Bomb. The basic recipe is equal parts of Coconut Oil and cocoa powder, sweetener of your choice to taste and vanilla if desired. Melt CO stir in cocoa powder well, pour in a pan and freeze or refrigerate. You can add chopped nuts, or coconut. As a diabetic I can't add raisins or craisins or dried fruits, but you could. You can also stir PB in it. Cut in squares and enjoy. You have to keep them refrigerated. Just google Fat Bomb and you'll find all sorts of recipes. I always have them in the freezer for when I need to up my fat intake. An alternate I do is a lemon flavored Fat Bomb just google it for recipes.

Fell asleep watching TV last night, woke in the wee hours and went to bed. Didn't realize I hadn't sent this....two nights in a row forgot to send! Sheesh

    Very quiet on here.

Bobo did you get started on the mouse costume? You know you have time before surgery to get abs in shape. You may not need since you aren't having nodes and having recon. You don't have a Buddha belly anyway.

Idesim what's the herceptin schedule? How's the knees?

Wren and NDgirl. You all ok after your kitties gone?

    Granwe. Update on OG surgery?

    GrammaB. Did you get snow?

Took kids trick or treating on Sat night at campgrounds. Those people love Halloween. They dressed up, the campers decked out, the dogs dressed up. Mid 40s and damp. I had on two hats, a fleece and my long wool coat. What will I do when it gets cold? My one hat was a witches hat. Got compliments on my green hair!

Boy had more fun making goul jump out and passing out popcorn at friends camper. Baby wouldn't hold my hand and walked right up with her bucket. It wasn't crowded. She knew what the animal crackers were and wanted to eat them when we got back to the camper.

Happy Monday. I'm not motivated. Safe travels M.

Very quiet indeed! Wren, I hope you are healing from your loss.

Mid 40's! Wow! Z, your Halloween party sounds like fun. That baby is acting so grown up! She knew exactly what to do with that bucket. How did her Jane costume turn out?

Yep -- cut out and pinned the mouse costume this weekend. Now must find sewing machine, which is still packed. My weekend: Yoga, pumpkin patch, groceries, read stories, mouse costume, cleaning house, eggplant lasagna, getting ready for school. How did your lasagna turn out? So tired this weekend. I couldn't stay up to have any adult time. As soon as I get into bed I fall asleep.

Yeah idesim -- when is Fing Herceptin? Cannot wait to hear how M's weekend was. And how is the OG's hand doing? And how are preparations for the baby shower?

This week my only appt is psych! Am v scared. Do not want psych appt. I have been explaining my history so often lately. XXX

Zills, nope, no snow here yet. Below freezing every night the last 4-5 nights, but no snow. :( Trick or Treating sounds like it was great fun!!

bobo, don't worry abut the Psych apt. Your choice is valid and there is nothing crazy about it. Just set things out for the dr and you'll pass with flying colors. I've spent a fair amount of time seeing a Psych in years past, the thing is to just be honest and you'll be fine. I'll be in the bag if you need any thing.

Wren, glad you are feeling better about Celine. What a sweet thing your friend said. You made that sweet kitty feel so loved and cared for at the end, you were her Angel easing the way for her to cross over.

Quiet here today. I need to get some work done with my eBay store so I can make some $$ to cover the last 2 medical bills that came in that have balances I owe. Ugh! I have not been really motivated and I need to get the lead out and get back to work!!

Hoping to hear from M soon on how their weekend went.

Well Good Morning all from me. Gosh! I missed you all! No internet, unless we paid an exorbitant amount in increments of half hour, so we decided to be laptop free!

Firstly, so sorry Wren for the loss of Celine, she was so lucky to have you to love her till the end!

Colin's Mother had a wonderful send off. Colin did her proud with his writing, his power point of memories in photo form, and the music he chose and recorded. There were many more people than we expected, some from very long distances away. I think she's have been thrilled with the funeral she wasn't at! How funny that she didn't want o be in a box at her own Memorial, but she was just outside in the car!

The weekend turned out to be so busy, I was exhausted. I spent lots of time with Bec. We went shopping out to Restaurants, had Tarot readings, and caught up on everything. Girlfriends came from everywhere to catch up, the last one leaving at 1am the morning before we left. Colin did his own thing with his best buddy from his teen years, and left the girls, mostly alone!

It was a very strange feeling, being back in the place that we had loved and when we designed and built the house there, we thought would be our "forever" home. It was a quiet little village atmosphere, right near the city back then. Our reason to move on was because it had become too busy, but now it is so over the top, we couldn't even feel any connection to it. We went to look at our old house and the changes the new owners have made to the outside looked so weird, like painting the cedar french doors stark white, but with all the cream fretwork and front fence still there. The garden had lost the beautiful Magnolia and the Star Jasmine that gave it symmetry and the prettiest Japanese Maple was gone too. The neighbors had told us that it wasn't the lovely house that we had left, but I didn't expect it to look like that. Ahh well, just another closed chapter!

We picked up Dexter on the way back. He had spent his time playing non stop with a Moodle, which I learned was a Maltese Poodle X. He even lost his new collar which I hope will be found today in the big play area. He had a ball, but was so pleased to see us. John had given him bath, so he was extra cute and fluffy! I sent pictures of him in the car with his big wide grin to my girlfriends with the caption "I'm going Home!"

Colin and I were absolutely exhausted last night, as was Dex. I didn't surface till 9am, and Dex has slept, snoring loudly, all night! Colin is still out to it, we cancelled his carer for today so he can sleep late. I will get him up later!

All in all, a really good result all round, but I can't see either of us wanting to go back in a hurry, which is a major surprise. We were such city people, but have transitioned so well to this lifestyle that it even amazes us!

I have read everything to catch up....love to everyone...M x

hi Bobogirl, you touched on a topic that is very intriguing these days, how not to be mistaken for a boy whilst rocking the flatness. My pixie is getting shaggy and I might let it keep growing through the winter and see what comes of it. I can't wear pierced earrings anymore which might help me look like a girl. But I am doing nails and makeup and bling. You?

Just went back through the posts about Coyotes and Bears to try and find gB's fitting story, and look up the bras. Good grief, the scary animals you have around are far scarier tan our peeing koalas and kangaroos!

gB, I don't have either of those bras. My fave is the Mona by Amoena too. ndgirl and I have very similar tastes. I like the Contact prosthesis too, but only wear it occasionally, because it does start to peel away from the chest. They are not designed to be worn without a bra, at least the Amoena isn't, and I was told in no uncertain terms that I couldn't wear mine for 6 months after the surgery. The chest has to be completely reattached. Mine came with a cover for the sticky side so it could be worn in a bra pocket just like any other form. These are $475.00 each here in Oz! I am sure there is a scam with our government rebate. We get a rebate of $400.00 every two years for our Prosthesis for a Umx or $800.00 for Bmx. I have private insurance too, so that refunds me the out of pocket expense after the government rebate, but that's it. We don't get any more than that. That's why I have bought all my other forms from the US. I have bought several on Ebay, and buy most of my Amoena Bras there too because they are a fraction of the cost of our stores, and all brand new with tags!

I have mainly Amoena bras because it is what's sold here, so I have tried on most of the styles and know what size to buy. For instance a Mona is $88.00 here, and I was able to buy two for $60.00 on sale in the US. I like the Lara as a dressier bra, and have it in several colors, I actually like the lacy, more feminine bras for going out, and wear sports bras or Mona most days.

I really like to change between the heavier silicone Prosthesis, to the weighted foam, and the micro beads. It depends on what I am wearing, but it all feeels quite normal now.
