hi Kellogg! How you've been? Did you go to Kellogg for mba, or some other reference?
0 -
Hi! I've been ok. Taking my AI's and getting my monthly ovarian suppression shots. Trying to exercise but it's been so hard I'm still super tired and my legs have been so sore ( thank you side effects, I think?). But overall I'm hanging in there.
Ha, ha I didn't even think of that. My name is actually Kelly and my husband gave me the nickname Kellogg a long time ago and it stuck.

catie, hugs!
Eileen, lol, do not miss the hate! Been there too. So nice now.
Kelly aka kellogg, Love your nickname

Catie, your husband and you have been in my prayers. So glad you both have been given the date and go forward plan. I pray for strength for you! It is tough going from your dx and now your husband. That is a lot within a year and for anyone to bear. What a tough year for the both of you but we are hear to take whatever load we can from you by being hear to listen, encouraging and at times we hope to provide a little amusement! Keep us updated.
Gatomal, I hope you feel better today. Reading your post I said "ouch".
Cassiecat, how is your daughter doing with her ballet? Any programs coming up?
Bippy, so glad you are settling in nicely at your new job! I switched jobs about 7 months before my dx. I love it, the people, my manager and especially the pace! No monthly travel, work days are reasonable, no weekend work and I manage a much smaller team!
Been on Tamoxifen for 1 week and no major SEs, I have to say 1 silver lining is that I don't have as many night sweats? MO did another ovary functioning test and % dropped drastically and she will monitor over the next few months to ensure it continues to trend downwards. If not we will then discuss OS.
My biggest issue 4 weeks post radiation is fatigue -- can I say fatigue again . I posted on the winter RADs board but wanted to share here. I am still soooo tired. My MO, RO and PCP didn't have much feedback except exercise, eat right, drink lots of fluid and take it easy. I guess I am just impatient and need to learn that it took 9 months to get hear and will not go away in a few weeks/months. I do exercise daily and I am exhausted afterwards. I get a good mid-day nap in on most days. I have learned to not shy away from sleeping aids . Anyone else still having "lingering" fatigue. I have to say it is improving but i just didn't expect to still be this tired. As my mother would say "patience Angie, patience -- you are always trying to hurry things" -- big smile.
Have a restful night everyone!

I didn't even do radiation and am still so very tired from chemo and my 3 surgeries I've had in the last few months. It is frustrating because my husband doesn't really get that I'm not 100% yet or at least why I'm not. My doctor said it will take up to a year to be all the way back energy wise. I'm impatient too. Ready to put it behind me.
I'm taking OS shots and armidex and my main side effect is hot flashes. It will take some getting used to.
I went around town for the first time sans hat yesterday. My hair is super short, but I didn't get any looks that I was aware of and it felt do good to be free.
Hope all of you are doing great! Hugs Amy

angie, oh yes to fatigue. My docs also said it will be one year till full recovery,
Give up for now being your old self, otherwise it will be upsetting. I'm So glad my doc explained that. Remember all the trauma you have benn through! Be kind and patient with yourself. The body is incredible but needs time. So just remember not to overdo. Hugs!
Amy, men! Mine was in the room when doc said about it being a year, so he knew. Hubster just wants you back, maybe just not expressing it well. But yes, me too with fatigue. New job is easy but I am wiped out from first week, went to sleep at 9.

Amy - I am on Arimidex also and it's brought back my hot flashes. I had hot flashes for about 4 years straight at least 20 times a day. They finally subsided and now experiencing them again. Not nearly as bad, but just a bummer.
LadyB - I get so fatigued mid day. If I work a full day, by 9:00 I'm ready for bed. I have to say I have not been exercising much last couple of weeks. But did do a lot of walking when visiting down south. I believe exercise does help with fatigue.
Ellenpg - Sounds like we are in the same place with hair. Still short, but can shape a little now and definitely coloring.
Just got a call from hospital in city where DH is having surgery. Have a family room on 9th floor for 3 nights, so I can be close by.
Have a good weekend and hoping you are all feelin good

Catie: My best to your DH0 -
Catie, thinking of you and your DH. I'm glad you'll be able to stay close by.
My hair is still too short to style at all, but apparently is just barely long enough to get bed head. Go figure.
DD does have a ballet performance this season - the youth company is doing Snow White. She is double cast and is learning four different roles. Shows are in about 6 weeks!

A little good news to share: I had a DEXA scan done to check on my bone density, and everything is in normal ranges! I wasn't expecting anything not to be, but a good scan is a good scan. Also had my 11th Herceptin infusion yesterday, so I figure I have about 7 more to go.

cassiecat= I love good news in any form!!!!!!! Congratulations

congrats Cassie!
So remember I had downloaded the couch to 5k, well after my second day my knees have been hurting like hit the pavement! So I have not done it again, maybe it's too early still... I am going to continue with weight training for a while, and maybe check back on jogging in a few months.
In the meantime I think my hair has grown another half inch, but now it looks like I am wearing a black carpet on my head!! Seriously it's going to be a long time until I can put this cat on a leash. My eyebrows and eyelashes on the other hand are so thin that I have to use makeup to not look sick.
having a very lazy Saturday doing nothing, tomorrow is going to be packed with chores. Take care everyone

Cathie, I am so glad the hospital has made arrangements for you to stay close by. My husband and I will be praying for you, and specifically for DH and his recovery and the skillful surgical team.
Cassie, so excited for DD. I know you are one proud mamma -- multiple parts in one program. Congrats on your results. I am with Eileen, love good news!
Wind girl, I am starting the C25K. Hopefully 1st of May and ease into it. My goal is to do a 5k in Sept if I can stick to the C25k program. Currently I am walking and doing light strength training.
Bippy me too on the insomnia. Reruns, readi g or counting sheep will not put this gal to sleep. Sleep aides here I come 😱.
Have a relaxing Sunday everyone.

Lots of insomnia here too, and I hate having to take something to help me sleep.
DD leaves today for a 5-night backpacking trip with school. Awesome for her, but I am going to miss her!!!

I did it. I got outside today. Even though I'm hurting a lot, but here's what we did...

Beautiful girls, Gatomal.

catie...so glad you can stay in a room in the floor. That's great to be close and get some sleep.
Cassie! Great news on the dexa scan, and cool about your dancin' daughter. Girls rock.
Wind girl, ladyb...I would be right with you on the 5k thing. That sounds awesome. Maybe when I start rads? My boobs should be healed by then? Hopefully?
Darn...I lose so many posts with the site on the iPad...thinking about you ladies, Eileen, Bippy, Jean, Jennifer...hugs.

Gatamol - The beach, what better way to entertain the kiddies. Glad you were able to get out a little today.
Thanks everyone for the thoughts and prayers for DH. We are actually at the hospital now. Comfortable room and just relaxing after a fun packed day in the city. Countdown! Will let you know how things go.

Catie I just saw this, hope your husband feels better soon

Catie: Prayers for you and your husband.
Gatomal: Beautiful girls! I bet they are glad to get to play on the beach with you! Looks like you all had fun!
Hugs to all. Watching and reading and praying for you all. Nothing much here to report. No doctor appointments. No new meds. No more surgeries. No real pain. NO CHEMO. Nothing....at least for now...and it feels great for a change!

Catie thinking of you and your husband and sending prayers.
Gatomal what a beautiful picture.
I'm going to approach my new boss and request that I go part time. The lady that was there before me apparently worked Monday through Thursday and only 32 hours a week full-time benefits. I just do not feel in my gut that it's right for me to work 40 hours a week. I haven't worked 40 hours a week in decade, so I was useless before cancer too. Most down here only do 35 or 37 hours. So I'm spoiled.
I worked all last week and then spent the weekend in bed. Just exhausted. Also I figured out that Herceptin gives me major joint and muscle aches. That last for about three days. And there is the sleep issue I'm dealing with.
I hope they'll agree but if they don't I really feel like I have to move on and just to part-time stuff somewhere else. A bit disappointing but I just wanted to let you know not to necessarily go back full-time full blast right now. It sure is not working for me!

Justamy= I feel the same way you do. Nothing going on is really nice. It feels strange not to be doing something that is related to BC.
Catie=Best of luck to your DH today. Hugs from me.

Catie- best of luck today!
Gatomal what a great photo!
Bippy good luck! I hope they agree. I've been back at work since Janaury. I worked up I 4 days a week and truthfully I never want to go back to 5. This is just so much better for me mentally, physically and for my family. I too hope it can stay that way.

Kellogg, Bippy...I think the whole country would be happier if we worked four ten hour days instead if five...there isn't enough time to recuperate and do personal things otherwise.

Catie, , thinking and praying for DH and your. ((Big virtual hug!!)). Are your kids with you? Thinking of them too.
Gatomal, love the photo. We had great weather this weekend -- so glad you and your family were able to get out and enjoy!
Bippy, Gatomal, and Kellogg, totally agree! Loved it when I was on a 4 day work week! Or able to work from home.
Bippy, Good luck and hoping they agree. I go back to work on 5/1 and discussing a 32 hour week with manager. Or at least have the 5th day a work at home day. I am so exhausted after a day of doing to much. So just wondering how I will fair in two weeks working full time.
Justamy and Eileen, hope to get were you are soon --- meaning in a few weeks (big smile). I still have a few lingering SEs and pain from RADs. I will also have to deal with lymphedema which flared up during Rads but we are managing it and I have PT apps every two weeks until swelling is down.

Bippy= I have not work 5 days a week in years. I did not think I could do it now. Somehow I have managed to work part time and I feel super lucky. However, I have always worked the shifts nobody wants but, I do not care. I would rather have time off. Good luck.
Labyb= Hope your swelling subsides. They had me wrap my arm with ace bandages including my fingers 3 times a day for 2 hours. OUCH!!! I hated that. Hugs from me
