Where in the hell did I go wrong??  I work 5 days a week, 40 + hours and in a law office.

Bippy, you will be glad to know that I work in the front of the office and have declared our part of the building a "no bitch" zone, so our domestic department is not welcome if they are going to bitch about something.

nomatterwhat I'm on the same boat as you. I did work part time through January and that was from home except for a few days of meetings. But since mid January I'm full time. I'm fact I worked 60-80 hour weeks during rads due to my works busy season being then. now I am back to a 40 hour week schedule and feels like I have so much time after work :) I only did this cause I had the energy to do so, otherwise I wouldn't have plus working toward a career goal.

Thinking about going back to work exhausts me :/....

I'm waiting until radiation is over to make decisions on part time vs full time right off bat. I finish radiation may 20th but I am cleared until July 15 ( one year from last day I worked) to stay out on general leave. So a month and a half to recover.....but my days are 12 hours I just don't see myself swinging three 12h shifts for awhile. Let alone in a hospital geeze I can't get away from these places!

My work has allowed me to ease back in somewhat. I took back my three classes and my college counseling duties, but haven't stayed after school for any study halls and haven't resumed officially my admin duties. May 7th, I slip back into the the admin role, finish the school year and then go on break for 9 weeks or so. I met with my boss and listed on e of my goals in my self-assessment as working toward better balance both throughout my work day and in my work/home lives. Putting it in writing that that is important to me. If I can't have better balance, then I won't keep doing the job. I don't want to constantly be jumping from urgent task to urgent task, with little time for what's important in the big picture, or time for self-improvement and reflection, or just plain leisure.

Gatomal, love the Golden Gate photo! What a place to be...

Bippy, I also have similar SE's after each Herceptin infusion. My left ventricle function is down to 57%. MO said no worries, but I don't like that function is going downhill! I am exercising regularly, getting my heart rate pretty high. Doing the best I can.

I am a teacher too, took the whole year off. I have enjoyed volunteering twice a week since January. My sub is so kind to let me come in and help. Energy level and insomnia are concerns, for sure. Can't imagine being a good teacher and working all the hours I used to without decent sleep. Will deal with that next August when I officially return. So thankful to have had the time to focus on my treatment.

Best wishes and prayers for Catie's husband

catie yes, thinking of you and Dh and hoping for all the very best care and recovery. Hope you are doing well and feeling ok too!

Working after BC....I was very interested to read all your stories. Windgirl, wow. You are amazing with those hours. The very thought makes me sleepy.

Nomatterwhat, ugh, no one is happy doing family law. Tell those beotches to keep it down the hall. Such a negative atmosphere, and the attorneys are usually jerks too. Fun times! I feel like I have been pardoned from an angry prison.

had the talk with new firm. Until we can get a new schedule set part time, my boss said I can work whenever I want! I can come in late and leave early. He is an amazing, caring person. How am I so lucky!

Jenifere, makes sense as to why I am so tired. I am done on July 10 and only have one more MUGA after, I think, to make sure no issues. Last time it was 63.

Cassie, DD is awesome. How fun!

Catie, thinking of you and your DH. Hope all is well.

I had a good check up with my RO yesterday. He said my skin is healing up really well and that things look really good. Yay! I go back for another check up in three months. I have another echo scheduled for this Friday, to keep an eye on my heart for Herceptin infusions. Cross your fingers that my ejection fraction remains in the normal range! Been on Tamoxifen for about 2.5 weeks now, and other than insomnia, I don't notice any SEs. I was getting hot flashes at night already from chemopause, and they aren't any worse now. Missing my daughter, who is somewhere out in the wilderness on her fourth day of backpacking. They come home Friday, early afternoon. Can't wait!

Cassiecat= My chemopause is crazy!! Wakes me up several times a night. Also, have hot flashes during the day Never had this before chemo. Makes me crazy. I am sweating in places I did not know you can sweat.

As for working. I will never have a job again that totally stresses me out. It is not worth it. I really want to take the best care of myself. If I don't no one else will. I have a job now that everyone is wonderful. Such a change from my previous jobs. I have a great manager.

Cathie=Hope your DH is doing well. Fast recovery!!

Catie: hope dear hubby is doing ok and that you are holding your own. What a tough time. So sorry.

Loved the picture of baby Levi!

Loved the picture of Gatomal and babies digging in the sand with the Golden Gate Bridge in the back ground.

That brings me to why I had a lot of posts to read to catch up. Flew into SF on Sunday and drove to Napa. My son, his fiancé and my two bffs came also. We stayed at O'connell family vineyard until today. 2 girlfriends had to go home today. We r staying until Sunday at Wyndham Canterbury.

Had a flat in rental van.....make a long story short, dh left my pink travel bag in the parking lot and drove down to where we were after the flat was changed out.iiHad all of my million medicines in it, iPad and kindle. Sausalito deputies came....can you believe they found the lady who had picked it up.....Amazing. She flagged them down to tell them she had found it. Not a pill was missing...everything in there. We had the officer drive us back to her place and I asked her to please accept a reward. Can't believe God was looking after me. I thought. Was going to have a heart attack, my bag even had my pain pills in it.

How wonderful to find an honest person! Looking forward to anniversary dinner Friday night lots of good food while we are here.

Love to all my fighters! Brenda

Hi Ladies, It has been quite a week. DHs surgery went well. It's amazing how quickly they move you out of ICU and get you up and moving. He is really doing great and hope to discharge him Friday or Saturday. Stayed at my sister's last night after spending 3 days by his side. First thing I did was have a glass of wine. Lol I want to thank you all for the well wishes and prayers.

Justamy - I am so pleased to hear that you are doing so well. You totally deserve it.

LadyB - Sorry about the Lymphodema from Rads. I hope it all heals up soon and you can start enjoying the fact that ur finished with treatments.

Beatmon - That was pretty awesome to hear how your belonging and meds were all returned in tact.

Bipsy - I work 4 days a week at 2 separate places. I like the diversity that each offers. I also appreciate that both bosses have been so understanding with all that has been going on. I am so ready for early retirement. I can see it happening in the next two years for sure.

To everyone I haven't personally addressed, so good to read your posts and know how things are going for each of you. This is a great group of women. We totally kicked cancers butt!

catie, good news! Glad all is well with you and DH.

Well ladies my plan of working part-time at my new job is not working out. They are adding attorneys and want someone to work at least 40 hours a week. I am not that person. Very nice and cordial and there's no hard feelings --I'm actually working all next week for them and then I'm done.

Not willing to work myself into the ground because I am firmly of the belief it got me into this mess to begin with. That's way too many hours for me. Wish me luck with my continued job search from now on it is absolutely temping only!

Catie, so good to hear your DH is recovering well. I'm glad to hear your update.

Bippy, good for you for taking care of yourself. We have to stand up for ourselves, and being way too busy and stressed out all the time is not healthy. I'm having to do the same thing.

I had someone at work today - someone who clearly hadn't noticed I'd been gone for 5 months! - ask me why I decided to cut my hair short. LOL! I answered, "Cancer." He was taken aback, but really? We're not THAT big of a campus. I think he felt awkward that he hadn't known. Oh well.

Bippy, Happy Anniversary to you and DH. 25 years wow! Awesome! Enjoy your weekend!

Cassie, good reply to your co-worker. All I could say was, REALLY!

Almost 4 weeks on Tamoxifen all going ok. Slight headache kicked in yesterday and was still hanging on this morning so took Advil and it went away. Just hoping migraines don't start up again. I haven't had one since starting chemo.

Went to yoga class this morning boy did my body love it! I have schedule an accupunture for Thursday and can't wait.

    Have a great weekend everyone.

Angie- I have been trying to psych myself up to do a yoga class. I have never done one and there is a place near me thy does restorative yoga. My friend who tore her hamstring said she loves it and I should try it.

I got a fitbit last week and the more I exercise the more I hurt. I know I pretty much say on the couch for oh say.. 7 months and I'm taking hormone pills that cause joint pain and all around fatigue but this doesn't help my cause to get back in shape. Meanwhile, the husband has lost 20lbs in the last month. Yeh he sucks! Not really but I am just a little bitter I guess.

    Happy almost Monday everyone!

Kellogg, I have a Fitbit too. Try to keep exercising, but listen to your body too. We've all had a rough time of it through BC!

Trying to enjoy the last bits of the weekend. I had a nice walk with DH and our dog today, made a nice vegetable lasagna for dinner and two healthy treats, cleaned out DD"s treehouse (which I love and might start hanging out in!) and just generally had a nice day. Would be nice to have one more day off. ;)

hey all. Took the kids to the zoo today. Went on the carousel four times. Four! The neurontin plus taking pictures made me dizzy, but we had a great time. Surgery is coming up again on may 19th. Not only are we doing re excision, we are also possibly doing another Breast lift if necessary, and carpal tunnel release, and now a bone marrow biopsy to see if I qualify for another trial. To be eligible you must have tumor cells in your bone marrow. I do not want to be eligible. Is it better to know, and maybe use a drug that reduces the tumor cells in the bone marrow? I'm really scared to find out. Would you all want to know? Also if I am on the trial, I have another bone marrow bx at 6 and 12 months. At leat the first one is under anesthesia. Thinking of all,u sisters. Big hugs

Hi Gatomal, I know it's easier said than done, but I would do it if I was offered this today. Looks like you have a great doctor looking after you. Do you know what the trial name is?

Day at the zoo sounds very nice, so was you pic by the golden gate. Were you at Crissy field? I lived in San fran for 2 years, went to sfsu, really love that city still feel like it's half home. Take care

Gatamol: what is the reason for the bone marrow....as a work up? Just for the trial? Or are you having new symptoms of some type? Loved your town this week....

Bippy: what day was your anniversary...mine was the 23rd

Thanks all for the nice wishes. We had a lovely casual dinner at a waterfront tiki bar. Beautiful night!

Doing well on tamoxifen except the frickin insomnia. I have to medicate or I do not sleep. Hope it goes away.
