I have used Picasa for many, many years. When I switched to Windows 10, the only places I found to download it had malware inserted. So I went back to my old Windows 7 laptop and transferred the program from that. It is fast and perfect for getting an event captured.

Thanks View. I know Lisa uses it and has created those collages in the past and I see right one now. Very cool. I looked into downloading it a couple of years ago and I can't remember now what the issue was that I couldn't . I only have Windows 8 and 10 computers now but I still have an old Windows 7 laptop but I don't use it anymore. I use Photoshop Elements 19 and they have a collage maker I believe but nothing like the ones you both are using.
Got to run. Thanks.

Thank you ladies. So glad you like the photos.
feelingfeline, thank you for the link to the thread for birds. I'll be sure to check it out.
SoCalLisa, I've found softonic to be reliable, however the last time I downloaded from the site was about three-four years ago.
You can also download it from CNET:

Here is a review of both download sites:

If bandwoman has a Windows computer, I have the Picasa program I use in a zipped file. I downloaded and zipped the program the day I learned Google was going to stop supporting it. I've personally had no problems with it, no malware or junk attached. Like so many things in computing, we download programs with no guarantees. If she wants, she can send me her email address by PM and I can email the zipped program to her.

For dry Southern California, the hills were full of life with no rain in the recent past.

SoCalLisa, that photo is lovely. It's amazing to see the variety and colors!

SoCalLisa the image you captured is magical, it would make a beautiful painting, so many colours and textures.

SoCalLisa I don't have a trained eye for photography, but your picture makes me want to caress all those bushes! 😊

I was watching my granddaughter playing softball and turned around and saw the hillside. The light filtered through.

Lisa, I posted how much I loved your photo and it is gone poof. I have been having a terrible time with my internet cutting out. What I had said was one of my photography teachers in this class on composition said that creating a pleasing photograph is making organization out of chaos. That is what you have done in this photo.
I was supposed to be leaving for my Mom's for eight days to celebrate her 94 birthday this weekend and ended up in urgent care last night. I have been diagnosed with reactive airway disease and probably from cleaning out my outside water fountain and getting algae into my lungs. It is not mets to the lungs so that is a relief.

thanks everyone. Sometimes a photo is right a turn of the head away. Nancy, I hope they can get a handle on your lung problems. Wow, who would think from a water fountain?
0 -
Nancy, I'm glad that you don't have lung mets but I'm really sorry that you've been diagnosed with reactive airway disease. Do you know what the treatment will be?

bandwoman, So sorry your trip to your mom's had to be postponed. I pray that you have a speedy recovery and that you get to see your mom soon, even if it's for a belated birthday.
SoCalLisa, one of my favorite photography quotes is: "You don't take a photograph, you make it." Ansel Adams
And so you have!

Cathy, at urgent care I had a breathing treatment last night and the did a variety of heart and lung tests and xrays. I am on an inhaler and my neighbor came over and said she has the same meds for her asthma. I am also on Predisone and I think both are powerful. As usual protocol here I am to see my primary doctor in several days as a follow up. The scary part is I am not sure if this will become chronic. I have researched as much as I can and it is pretty concerning. Leginonnaire Disease which is very serious was a concern of this doctor. So if I get worse I am to head to the ER. There has been a couple of outbreaks in the greater Chicago area where I am located and it can originate from standing water. So it is a bit scary. How are you doing?
View, thank you. I am not sure if I should even try to go to my Mom's until I see what happens. The thing is my Mom would probably not realize it is her birthday and we could always celebrate at another time. So as disappointing as it has been I just want to get well without any lasting problems. I have never had lung problems like this before so it is a new territory for me.
Take care.

Nancy, I'm sorry it's been so scary for you and I pray your lung condition doesn't become chronic and you don't need to go to the ER. I'm glad that you've had tests and you'll see your primary doctor soon. I pray you get the best care and that God comforts you. I hope you can see your mother soon. Sending hugs.
Thanks for asking how I'm doing. I struggle with feeling overwhelmed, anxious and stressed. It seems like there are always things to attend to and a lot of challenges. I am past the acute stage of my grief about my twin sister but I still struggle with how much she suffered, even though her passing was peaceful. I'm so glad she's not suffering anymore and she is experiencing the mysteries of Heaven. I miss her and not being able to tell her things.

Thank you Cathy. I know you have been through a very rough time and still are in the middle of that. In my experience time does lessen the awful sting of death but the loss will always be there but will become more bearable. There is a new normal that I think most of us have to enter as we all experience losses of different types whether it be our own health or of family or loved ones and friends. The one thing I have learned from the months of seeing my social worker is that pushing our feelings away and trying to deny that we have them is what most of us want to do but is not the healthy thing to do. Allowing ourself to feel loss is not an easy thing but it is a healthy way. That plays out in many different ways as each of us find our own way to do that. I pray you can do that and eventually not feel so overwhelmed with all the other things you are dealing with. Hang in there. You will get through this.

I love this little spot near Santa Fe, NM. El Santurio de Chimayo. It is one of the most visited pilgrimage places in the US. It has a small room with "healing dirt." I am non religious but found it intriguing.

Thank you, Nancy. You are kind.

Bandwoman, I never heard about RADS before so looked it up. I skimmed a study from 2011 that said high-dose oral vitamin D 2000 IU/day can relieve symptoms, though you may be taking that amount already. I don't know if it's still pertinent
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3196486/
If you do a search for "vitamin D treatment of RADS' you'll find more articles. It may be something you want to discuss with your doctor.
Aussie-Cat, I read your response to bandwoman. Though I couldn't find your original post about the death of your sister, I want to express my sorrow for you loss. I do understand the stress, overwhelmed and anxious feeling. Thirty years ago my oldest daughter was killed instantly by a reckless driver who had been drinking and on drugs. You never get over the death of a loved one but you do learn to live with the pain...and fond memories.

View, thank you for that link. I am actually already on a very high dose of Vit. D. I have seen an alternative doctor for 15 yrs( who practiced traditional meds for 15 yrs.) when traditional meds failed to help with my challenges of fibromyalgia. It is an interesting read and I need to read it all carefully but did glean from it that I am already exceeding the dose for Vit. D that they suggest.
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your daughter. What an absolutely horrible thing for you and your family. I lost a nephew nine years ago and I know how difficult this has been for my sister and her husband and family. Thank you again for your help in researching this condition. The Predisone is making it difficult to sleep so I got to bed very early this morning and woke up with my esophagus on fire. I couldn't find any acid reflux meds at home so tried some apple cider vinegar and honey and that helped. I went back to bed and felt like someone was drilling through my jaw. I pretty much feel awful today. I ate a gluten free pizza last night and I don't eat much pizza anymore since I have to eat gluten free and I think it was just too much. I thought of returning to urgent care but will hold off for now.
Lisa, I may have to visit that little church with the healing dirt! I have never heard of such a thing but it sounds interesting and it is a beautiful church.

bandwoman,
I'm sorry to read about all you're going through and hope they can get to the bottom of it soon. I never thought that apple cider vinegar (with honey) would be good for acid relux. I would think vinegar is too harsh.
Your squirrel photo, what is it nibbling on?
btw, regarding missing posts. I often type my posts in NotePad first then paste the text into the reply field. If it's a long post, I do a couple of saves. If the text doesn't save, it can be copied and pasted again from Notepad.

I keep my Vitamin D at 50-60 units in my blood.

Beautiful flowers ladies. Thanks for all of the advice on alternate ways of posting and the Vit. D discussion.
Jack Bear and Elizabeth welcome. Enjoying your photos.
Joanne, I have tried the concoction before but this time it was pretty amazing. I could actually hear gurgling every time I took a sip. I was wondering if the combination of meds was affecting the acid reflux because I haven't had those types of issues in a very long time. I have had a terrific headache and I think that is the Predisone. Going to bed now that is is almost 2 am. My sleep is all goofed up. Still no immediate plans to leave for my Mom's.
This is my Mom who turns 94 on Saturday (today).
