it would be interesting to see the moon angle you get from Australia

That does sound interesting but I only have an ordinary camera. It does have 20x zoom and I do have a tripod, so do you think that would work? Do you take it at a particular time of night?

I talked to my housemate and he said the moon will look the same from Australia as anywhere else. It's cloudy and rainy at the moment but maybe in a few days I will give it a try.

    Hi everyone,

I am back home now and my sister and I will have a three way phone conference tomorrow with the nursing home. My Mom is half way through her quarantine and I can't wait to be able to see how she is doing. I am not sure if she will be able to have an outside visit. It is quite chilly here for her especially. She did a lot of sleeping while in the hospital and she had a UTI which can make an elderly person even more confused.

We will discuss our goals for my Mom. She is being quarantined with another person and this lady is one of her good friends from her church and they used to be in a widow's group that would meet monthly to go out to lunch. They were both released from the hospital the same day so that is why they are able to quarantine together. They were tested before entering the nursing home. My Mom was not in good shape and I am not sure if she would even be aware of this other person in the room with her.

It has been a rough time for sure but I had a few minutes of some photography therapy tonight. I had planned on shooting earlier and it was raining so I didn't think it would be visible. Then I looked later this evening and it was visible but very cloudy. This was one of the few shots that was not cloudy.

I hope you are all doing okay and have stayed safe.

    Nancy

    Great moon photos, everyone!

Nancy, I'm sorry you're going through such a hard time about your Mom. I pray that she gets the care she needs and you get the help you need too. Take care.

I took some photos of the moon and I will load them when I get a chance but I don't think any of them worked well.

    Nice clouds, Kath.

Here are my two cropped moon photos but no detail showed up. The second one has Mars in the bottom right corner (which looks like a bright squiggle).

Hi ladies. Yes I am home case counts are up again here in Canada so looks like a long cold winter for us unless Thailand cuts back their two week quarantine for foreigners. if this happens we will quietly get on a flight and escape our winter. Filled up my birdfeeders and am enjoying watching all the migrating birds stopping bye on their way south. If I get a clear sunny morning I will pull out my Canon and try and capture some photos. Yesterday a red tail hawk decided to perch on my side fence to check out all the bird action 🥺yikes

I decided to go for a walk this morning at a nearby lake. Very hazy, but I could see the fishermen enjoying the solitude.

Gma Foley, lovely sunset! Thanks for your kind words.

Mumito, I hope case numbers go down in both Canada and Thailand.

Lisa, your photo looks atmospheric. Was it as cold as it looks?

  • socallisa

    Actually it was 85 degrees

Lisa, that sounds warm. We've had some hot weather here but we're in a cold, rainy patch at the moment. Next week it's meant to go up to 27C, which is hot for this time of year! We're still not allowed to go further than 5 kilometres from our house though. I would love to go to the beach soon.
