Lisa, Neat pic of the moon. My macro filters kit came but I have had a very busy week and haven't got to take any pictures. My ultrasound came back normal so I am trying the Arimidex at night and see if my symptoms improve.

I had a demoralizing apt with my surgeon yesterday. When I told him about having all of these GI issues for six weeks his curt response was I have seen worse. Then he proceeds to brow beat me about exercising and asking if I had resumed my swimming. This is after I told him I was in therapy this summer for an injured rotator cuff and then six weeks of feeling poorly most of the time. I said I am walking. He kept pushing and said are you walking every day. I was so completely deflated by the time I left I thought and this is the guy that said I will deal with him for life. At this point if feels like a life sentence!

Oh Nancy BW, he sounds like a piece of work, very unkind. Definitely time to find somebody new. I would have thought that you would not have to deal with him much though and that your MO would be the main person who will be looking after you going forward.

Lizzysmom, I was contemplating getting a second opinion from another MO in the summer. I am striking out here. I loved my radiation oncologist and her team. Loved my nurse navigator. Then this surgeon turns out to be a real jerk and he came so highly recommended. I will say he spurred me into action though. I got back to swimming today. I hadn't been since the beginning of March. I was fearful just driving there. I have an injured rotator cuff which is not completely healed so I didn't know if I could even swim at all. I had been swimming a half mile four times a week prior to the dx. I was able to swim for 13/26 laps compared to my 18/36 so I did much better than I thought. Came home and found out a friend from another thread died. It really hit me hard. I had spend literally hours and hours this week trying to find her. She went into the hospital a second time and then didn't respond to phone calls. I got a PM from someone I dont' even know who knew I had been looking for this person and she sent her death notice to me. I went out walking for another half hour to just clear my head. So all in all it has been a rough week.

Lisa, I know I should look for another surgeon. I don't know what I am going to do at this point. He is an excellent surgeon if I ever needed any more surgery. Usually you can tolerate a jerk if you know you only have to put up with him for a short time. This is another whole thing. So we'll see. I am getting ready to go down to my mom's again. My sister and I are her caregivers. So I have a lot on my plate right now.

Nancy, I am so sorry about the loss of your friend, this stinking disease. I hope next week is a little kinder. Somehow in this internet age it just seems even harder to me, the way we get to find out when somebody passes but I am sending you a hug, even if its a cyber one.
Some people are negative and some encourage. I know I have never responded to the former. Its demoralizing. I am glad that you got to have a swim though. It sounds like you are a good swimmer. Just don't overdo it. Can you do some legs only to make up the difference and not strain the injury?
I had my eye exam today and the doctor recommended some eye drops and compresses for the sore eyes and tears. She said I could see an eye surgeon for minor surgery if it doesn't get any better but I don't want that unless it gets really bad. She also mentioned that there is a cataract at the side of my right eye. Will make sure to keep it checked out especially with the tamoxifen so I am glad I had the checkup to get a baseline.

when I had a frozen shoulder, I would use a kick board in the water and hold it so I increased the resistance to exercise my legs. I would do all the various kicks except the dolphin on my back front and sides. The thing that helped me the most was finding a PT class for post breast cancer patients. The PT gave each of us some of the same exercises plus she had a sheet of paper for different ones just for each lady. She asked me what my goal was. I told her to get up off the floor or toilet by myself. She said no a really good goal. So I said to play tennis again. I laughed, but she added a couple of exercises just for stroking the ball. It took a while but we all conversed during our time together. It was the best thing for me.

Lizzysmom, There are several stage 4 members who also are friends with this lady that died. I think it is only natural to think that they may have to suffer as this poor woman did. Through tons of searching for this lady who went into the hospital and then we lost contact with her we found her. I emailed the pastor of the church to be sure it was our same friend. I also found out where her mom lives which is about a half hour from me. This friend lived in Colorado. I hope to send her mom some posts from her friends from here and hopefully that will have some meaning for her mom. I hope to maybe meet her as well. She is 88 and I have no idea what kind of condition she is in. She did fly to Colorado to see this friend before she died. I just asked the pastor to tell her family how much she meant to us on this board.
I don't know if I told you about the eye problems I was having. I had cataract surgery in both eyes my first year of retirement. I thought I was too young to be dealing with cataracts but I guess it must not be all that unusual. Last summer I had what is called a detached vitrious. I first had it in one eye and several weeks later it happened in the other. It was really bothersome. It creates a ton of floaters which are supposed to settle. It can only happen once in each eye. I saw lightning flashes which was the first warning sign it was happening. In the first couple of weeks there is a danger it can cause the retina to tear. They said the floaters should settle at a maximum of six months. Now a year later when I was at my mom's in August I started seeing lightning bolts again and it acted like it was starting all over. By the time I finally got home that is when the GI issues started and I thought I had a stomach virus. So the eyes got put on hold. I finally got into the eye doctor this week. I had some eye pain too which was scaring me. My doctor is in semi retirement so I saw this young guy who was very nice looking I might add! My eyes were fine. The eye pain was caused by dry eyes. I am wondering if this is another lovely SE of the cancer drug. I was having so much trouble trying to take pictures because I could see if it was in focus or not. Even when I got them uploaded to my computer I had such a hard time. I am getting a new prescription so that will help.
Weather was horrible here today. Oh my gosh. We might have a hard freeze tonight. I was out tonight in the dark taking out my pump in one of my fountains. Moving plants around and covering them up. It is probably a waste of my time because I will probably be leaving on Thursday and won't be here to take care of them and it is too late in the season to have one of my friends come over to water.
I sure wish we would have had more nice fall weather. We still may.
BTW I just learned how to swim my last year of teaching with the goal of lap swimming in retirement. I am not a great swimmer but I have a lot of endurance when I am in shape. I swim with a snorkel because of a neck surgery and other muscle issues making it hard to turn my head. I look pretty ridiculous but my swim teacher said who cares. Go for it. So I have been swimming like that all this time. I have an underwater Ipod which helps.

Lisa, I actually did quite well swimming yesterday and so far nothing bad happened to my shoulder. My legs were in great shape from all the walking I have done and it was my arms that felt like a ton of bricks. I am glad your water exercises really helped you. Since you are always out taking pictures it sounds like you have improved quite a bit. I used to play tennis too and then I just found myself running out of steam. I took up racquetball after that and enjoyed that for a few years. I think I am going to be okay on the swimming. When I go back and forth to my mom's that interrupts the routine. I go to the Y and can go to the one in her town if I want to and I have but not much.

Nancy, I think your friends Mom will appreciate the kindness and the words from people that cared for her daughter. It must be a heartbreaking time for her and I hope her faith gives her strength.
I have also had floaters for a number of years and two times in my life I have had something like the lightening thing, once this year. It was like a prism of colored light that stayed in my eyes for an hour or so and then just dissipated, very odd. We need to take care of our eyes and I know I would be so unhappy if I could not see to take photos. I am glad you like your new eye doctor
As far as swimming is concerned, I absolutely like a snorkel for freestyle! So glad to find I am not the only one!! I get exhausted with the breathing otherwise. This reminds me I need to get a snorkel before I go on vacation next time!

I get ophamalic migraines. Lightning bolt then black area. Lasts for 45 minutes plus or minus. They come then go away. The Dr's don't think that they are a big deal. If I get one on the road, I pull over.

Lizzysmom, I also found out through this person who started sending me PM that helped us find not only our friend but her family as well that other siblings had died as well. This poor mom has now lost three children. I hope to connect with her and meet her. She lives in the same town as the camera place that I got my swan pic blown up so it isn't that far.
I haven't had a prism effect. Mine was more like flashes of light that would be very fast. That was the vitreous detaching from the retina I believe and apparently is very common as you age. I don't consider myself that old! I hope yours is nothing serious. Yes, we photographers definitely need our eyesight.
Lisa, your migraines sounds scary. You have had a lot to deal with it sounds like. I am going to visit my swan family now before it gets too cold. We were expecting a hard freeze last night but I don't know if that really happened. I covered as many of my hibiscus and other things as best I could. My head is still in summer, NOT winter.

Bandwoman, I have had the same thing you speak of and was rushed to eye Hospital in case it was my Retina detaching. I also had a cataract in that eye, caused by long term steroid use from Rheumatoid Arthritis, but only in the one eye. I had the surgery and the lens needed some laser to polish it, or some such thing, now I don't drive at night because of the halo from oncoming traffic. I can't watch TV in a darkened room for the same reason. I can still see floaters and the other stuff waving around inside my eye, but I have become used to it.
Lisa, I've had that same Migraine all my life, since I was about 11 years old. It always starts with what I cal the "golden stairway" it actually looks like a golden escalator moving upwards, which then becomes a black center that gives me only peripheral vision for about 20 minutes and then numbness to one side including half my tongue and usually down one side of my arm and pinkie finger, so weird and so terrifying when I was a kid. I rarely have them now, but when I was younger they were quite prevalent. Same for me, Doctors didn't really do much, or think it was too much of a problem. At the fist sign now, I just pull the blinds and lie down.

Ariom, Before I had the cataract surgery I really had difficulty driving at night especially when it was raining. It still isn't great but better. So I completely understand what you are talking about with the halo effects.
I have never heard of this kind of migraine without pain. Sounds scary especially if you were experiencing that as a child.

I visited my swan family today and explored the complex for the first time. This is quite a nice place. I discovered this moving sculpture that was unusual as it changed shapes. I am not sure if it was also a wind turbine or not but it could have been.

Nancy I love the photos and the idea of moving sculpture. I went to Rutland, Vermont the weekend before I started rads and there was an art park right near the B&B where we stayed. The sculptures were mainly marble, this guy was large, maybe the size of a 10ft person, but the train was built from what looked like scrap metal, hub caps and the like.
My eye doctor also said I may notice an issue driving at night but I have always hated night driving anyway. I never understand how people can go so fast when they can't see (or maybe its just me LOL).

Ariom, We were supposed to get our first frost and possibly hard freeze last night but obviously those plants weren't affected. I don't think it got as cold as predicted.

bandwoman, I find it amazing that I am just coming out of the frosts and freezing winds, while you're experiencing the first signs of the cold weather, over there.
I am swatting mosquitoes and dealing with the blowflies that inevitably get into the house. I just drove past a couple of hundred sheep, just out of the shearing sheds, with little lambs by their sides. Everything is so green, it is really Spring!

Isnt is amazing how one part of the World can be freezing cold and the other hot, rainy or even daylight one place and night another. God is truly great and has given us so much beauty to enjoy.
