    Proud,

Sorry no brandy for me, I don't drink, never have. What does the brandy do???? My mo said I shouldn't worry about the dental stuff anything more complicated than a filling they talk with the DDS and figure it out. I get my teeth cleaned every 4 months so I'm not afraid of anything too strange going on there..however anything that hurts..is of course cancer : )

Katy, Thank you for your kind words. You are a sweetheart.

I think my little dog is regressing. Anyone have any experience with growling, snappy dogs? I'm hoping once he settles in things will change. I have no experience with this type of dog. The rescue we adopted him from said he gets along with other dogs and cats. I guess I should consult the comfort dog thread. Maybe we need that guy Cesar Millan - The Dog Whisperer. Other than his barking, growling and snapping, he is the perfect dog. haha He doesn't do it to us.....or kids...he loves kids. He just does it to our other dog when we pet him. He also barks and growls at anyone that comes in our house...unless they are kids.

We took my Camry in for service at the dealer and found out we need $3,000 worth of work. I about dropped my teeth. We called a local shop that has done work on our truck, and they quoted half of that price. So we dropped it off there. I hate cars. I wish we could travel like the Jetson's. No waiting in traffic for hours at a time. Shouldn't we be able to do that by now???

Jetson travel sounds fun to me. Gee I used to cycle with a couple of local clubs, great to ride with a group. The moto for the one club was We ride to Eat! rest stop was at a local Bagel place. Course bunches of those folks did Century Rides! me felt good if I finished the 25 miles route. Great group though as there was one guy, maybe in his 70s who kept his nitro tablet in his pocket just in case! yikes but the others all kept an eye out for him, course my nurse friend was a little shocked by how blasé he was about it.

For me, when I get sick with a cold or whatever, I buy my little flask of brandy, dang ,stuff just knocks me out and I sleep! so my cure

Slow, for non drinkers, a tad of stuff is very effective!

dang but after thinking chiropracters were scary for many years (Cracking my joints I could do!), well folks convinced me to see one for my nasty back. After suffering since the beginning of the year, after only a few vsits, I am almost pain free. Yeah for me, definitely a convert now!

Suzyblue.. I'm a Queensland girl... have been living south-side / bay-side suburb of Brisbane for years., but just recently relocated an hour north of Brisbane to Bribie Island. I just love it.. I love the beach, and hubby has room to have the chooks he's been obsessing about for years :-) I have been to your South Island.. (skiing trip years ago with the kids),.. We thought it was beautiful... but haven't been to the North... maybe one day.. Lovely to have you with us here on our way to ( and back! ) from Crazy Town :-)

PTS.. Hmm...I actually love a glass of wine..We would of had a couple of glasses of wine Friday and Saturday nights with dinner before BC.. but I have become a virtual non -drinker out of fear now!! :-( So I guses I am a "non -drinking drinker " !! I think it would only take a sniff of the brandy to knock me out now. !!

Ducky...I will be sending up a turbo prayer for safe travel for you.. You will.be fine.. God knows how much we need you here with us.!! 😃Enjoy your family time.!

Slow.. Oh my.. You do seem to have doggie troubles on your hands. 😱.. Was he the only dog at his previous home.? Gosh, wish I had a suggestion for you.. Ugh.. Cars ( and mechanics) certainly know how to chew up.the dough !! Trouble is I'm always suspicious of what REALLY needs fixing and what doesn't !! HaHa... Hold onto ypur teeth though.. I'm.sure dropping them wouldn't be a good look :-)

    Take Care everyone.!!

Slow.. Now that I think about it , it would be such fun to have false teeth, and just drop them mid-conversation if someone said something I didn't like !! HaHa.

hmm. did your pals give you a hard time when you stopped drinking with them? I never made an announcement but just kept reducing alcohol. I still have a pal who is married to what I think of as a functioning alcoholic, I have not talked to her in months since I said I changed my life style

still do a glass of wine but not more

    Slow,

I haven't had that experience with a dog.....but, it sounds like the new guy might be a tad jealous?? These dogs sometimes carry the burden of thinking they have to be the "Alpha" and carry the entire burden of the whole family's well being on their tiny backs and in their tiny brains. One thing that Cesar Milan does is disabuse them of that! Once they feel secure in their place in "the pack" it seems that they can relax and get in the groove of being one of the gang.

Ok, that's my two cents... Of course this is coming from someone who is a handmaiden to a 42 lb Siberian Husky so......

Sula, like the title of hand maiden to your rather large dog~

one of my first allergies was to pet hair, when my cat died of old age, I did not replace him but times when the shelter is having a special (which they happen to be having now) I would love to try a cat again but do not want to risk it

I just play with my pals cats, then wash my hands!

    proud,

I never had a dog or any pet before finishing chemo 25 years ago. I had asthma and terrible allergies before that, weekly allergy shots, bad immune system, an inhaler, the whole shooting match. I couldn't be in the room with a dog or cat. Anyway after chemo, I had a whole new much better immune system, not had an allergy shot since...my allergist in LA who also happened to be President Reagans allergist at the time cut me loose and said that he'd seen this happen many times before when patients who had had chemo came out of it healthier and allergy free. He said they'd taken my system down so far that when it built back up again it was much better/stronger than what I'd been born with. Before a simple cold would keep in in bed for a couple of weeks at least and usually go to my lungs, now it's just a cold like normal people.

interesting but gonna pass on chemo as I am sure you understand

I have a tendency to develop sinus polyps, surgery in 02 and again for really bad ones in 13 when the polyps completely closed off my breathing. Since surgery all is good on breathing, no sinus infections or stuff but not willing to test a pet!

Sula, that is fascinating about chemo. Look forward to finding out if it's true. I have terrible pet allergies and miscellaneous seasonal allergies.

Two things about today, one negative, one positive:

    1. I have hair growing back everywhere that I have to shave or pluck, but there is no sign of new eyelashes or eyebrows. How is this fair?

    2. Buttered baguette, salt, pepper, tomato. Is there a more perfect summer sandwich?

I hope everyone is enjoying the afternoon!

PTS.. No one has given me a hard time if I don't want to have a drink with them.. A couple of people have said.." go on, have a couple of wines... It'll do you more good than harm , help you relax ".. and really.. I think they are probably right..!!! I have my first annual tests coming up on the 24th of this month.. and I am so frightened I could do with a stiff drink.. 😱

    Lucy,

Everyone finds it very amusing that I live in Wine Country and don't drink... We serve wine and beer etc at home but I just don't indulge. Too many people on my moms side of the family had real problems with alcohol I always felt it was safer to stay away.

    ok crazy townies...

My current crazy thing is my knee, or rather the side of my knee the flesh is tender ... So of course I have knee cancer. I likely twisted or bumped it as I tend to be on the clumsy side... No bruise, no swelling just the side of the knee is sore to the touch. I hate getting like this again... Worrying over every bump bruise ache or pain.. It took me quite a while to get past that phase 25 yrs ago, now I'm going to crazy town again... I probably just slept wrong and twisted it. But hey, once/or twice you've had cancer....

Oh Suladog. Dang that knee cancer. Maybe some good sitting in a lazy boy rocker would cure it in a few days. Hope so. I spend a lot of time in my lazy boy trying to avoid ankle, knee and hip cancer. None the less, I had to have an MRI this week to see what sitting so much has done to my bones. Result appointment in about 10 days. Proud of you to avoid drinking. My dh came from a family with drinking problems, and he has never touched any in the nearly 50 years we've been married. He's a diet Snapple peach tea guy. Me? I'm into Crystal Geyser, chilled.

Here's to cooler weather and fewer fires. Jan

    Jan,

I tend to sit in my chair in my office with one leg tucked under me...I tend to also twist myself into weird positions while sitting, very pretzely.

Figuring that's what's going on obviously twisted and now I've got a sore spot that hurts when I press it... So yeah stop pressing it. Also installing solar lights on our walkway this weekend I probably did something

Ha, my husband barely drinks anything even at parties but a lot of our friends are in the wine business and they can put it away!!! I totally get where your husband is coming from, I've got no desire to mess with that stuff

AUH , the dreaded twisted pretzel cancer! I would vote for a new position in the chair!

I bought 3 little soft shells and will enjoy them all, 1 down and 2 meals to go!

    Good morning,

    I just read the pages I have missed-and I missed a lot.

I do not have knee cancer (right now-maybe later today) but I do have abdominal muscle cancer. In an area about an inch or two wide. It hurts. It might be warm. It is cancer. For sure. I also have scalp cancer. My scalp never itches or burns or reacts to anything. But now it itches and hurts. My hair is thinning bad-gee if my hair falls out for the 4th time I am going to just be bald. No hats, scarves, nothing. And, my fingers are swelling. Clearly cancer of the fingers.

I did a consult with a GI guy Friday about my chronic crappy anemia. I am not returning to him but he did say he was certain I did not have gut cancer. I wanted to say No shit Sherlock but I refrained. Of course I do not have gut cancer. That would be too easy.

I am rather snarly today. Have done nothing for my fall classes. Nothing. And I am the faculty person others hate becaues by day 1 I generally have all assignments ready, exams ready and printed, everything ready to go. I need to make my snarly snippy snappy self get busy.

Spent last week in Dallas where it was 106 with humidity. Came back to 103 and dry. So ready to move. So ready.

Sula-if someone has already asked my apologies. But-you and your husband--what have you written? When I am asked for my 8-person dream people to have dinner with I always have a screenwriter on my list. Always.
