Rain, A day with the NYT for me is a whole day. I gotta read everything. Except the sports section. As for my St Pat quilt, yes I'll show it off. Don't hold your breath. All sorts of fabric and arrangements are auditioning on my design wall. I so want to use fabric I already have, but my current serious contender design needs some soft yellow that I don't have. My somewhat local quilt shop is having a super bowl sale today. Oh dear, I see more fabric coming in the door.
Beppy, Painful shots vs blindness. Easy choice for me. "They" don't knock me out, but I do get a numbing shot! Now that numbing shot I think is bogus because the "real" shot hurts, too. This has been my story every 4 weeks for 4 years and is the only thing between me and near total blindness. Unless a new drug delivery system is found, this is what I'll have to do until I die, I guess. Are you able to go to UCLA? I could give the names of some very wonderful doctors there. You might need to put your big girl pants on and get your eye treated. Love you!
Katy, Putting something in the mail for you tomorrow or Tuesday.
Our handy man is here this morning cleaning up an old wood pile that's full mice and/or rat debris. OK, off to quilt shop.....

JAN- I just went stash searching for you. I have lots of misc strips and squares in the light yellow family. A few fat quarter sizes ....will any of this work? I can put it in an envelope tomorrow. There are a couple of green and white charm pieces too.

oh goodness, someone else with a fabric stash, such a problem, got it here, one of my pals from the gym keeps having folks will her their stashes
Went shopping today for ankle weights per my pt guy
Should be fun

Oh my dear Katy, Thanks for the offer and how kind of you to pull out your yellows. I found some pieces, too. You know, in my secret hiding place. DH went into city for lumber, so I went to quilt shop for thread (ha!). Only cost me $63. So hang on to your fabric and I'll send you a shamrock for good luck and possible use. Big Big Thank You for being so generous.
Carzies, I hope your team wins. Not a football fan, but I have it on anyway. I don't want to miss half time.

Hi Crazies...
well, I delt with work stress in the only way possible: snuck out of town for the weekend. Visited my father (waved to you on my way through town Sula, but wasn't there long enough to do more than that...will be back soon though, I hope) and then headed over to the coast and Russian River area, where the weather was glorious as it sometimes can be in winter around here. sunny and low seventies...drove home through the bay area at the start of the game, which meant no traffic given that I didn't go anywhere near the actual venue (which of course isn't really in San Francisco..rather, in the south bay.). Went for a hike in the redwoods with a friend from SF who met me up there. Spent the night at a cute little inn she found at the last minute (off season). Ate some good food. drank a little good wine. Talked about everything except work for a awhile. refused to check emails. Anyway, just got home. Nothing like hiking, fresh air, and fast driving with the Grateful Dean on the radio to get my mind off my troubles for a bit...may post a few pics in a bit.
Hugs to all

Ducky, Slow, Katy, Rainny, and everyone else, thank you so much for the supportive messages.
You won't believe this, but I apparently hurt my back this weekend moving boxes of books from my house for donations. I was fine after carrying them yesterday, but them when I rolled over in bed early this morning, ouch! I ended up at urgent care. I never really had much back trouble before, and I just finished rads 10 days ago, so I was sort of worried - was it the moving boxes, or could I be having a PE or something like that? I don't know if that's even a risk with radiation. The doc could find the sore muscle when pressing on my back, and said he did something similar himself recently, carrying firewood. They also swabbed me for strep as long as I was there, since I've had a sore throat this weekend and I work in a school, where there is lots of strep going around right now. The doctor was great. His wife had a lumpectomy for ADH, and her mother and grandmother both had breast cancer (her Mom was a 40 year survivor!), so he totally understood the Crazytown thing.
My back is feeling better, although a bit sore. I hope everyone is doing all right, and had a less eventful weekend than I did! Hugs to all the Crazies.

On a fun topic, at the request of our Mayor Slow DB, I am writing to give you a heads up that we are planning a real life Crazy Town get together for any of you SoCal crazies, Central California Crazies, and anyone else who wants to fly or drive out and join us...just a chance to find a great real-life porch somewhere between Los Angeles and San Diego, and hang out....
We are targeting a few dates in mid to late March, probably sometime around the week before Easter (which is March 27th this year; we will avoid Easter itself, I imagine....). I offered to be the Official Crazytown Get-together Organizer, since organizing is what I do.....
So, if you want to join us, or even think you might POSSIBLY be interested depending upon the date, please PM me with your email address. Once I get your email I will invite you to join a doodle poll where you can indicate your availability, preferred location in SoCal, etc...We will keep the organizing off line, at least for now, but all Crazies welcome!
Can't wait for March!

Cubbie, that doctor sounds wonderful. I hope your back and throat feel better. Jan, I am very interested in your quilts. I love quilts and my oldest sister, God rest her soul, was really good at quilting. Heck she was good at everything. She could whip up anything with her sewing machine. I really miss her more than I miss anyone else in my life. She filled in as mom when my mom decided dating was more important than being a mom. My sister was only 56 when she passed away from early onset Alzheimers.
Octogirl, I will be pming you. Crazies, hugs all around. Too exhausted to pull off anything else. My friend passed this morning. Cancer sucks.

Good Evening Crazies,
Rainy, I would have read the paper while the bread was baking!! haha I'm a sucker for a homemade loaf of bread.
JAN, Can't wait to see the St. Paddy's Day quilt!!
Yes, I guess the eye shots would be a logical choice considering what you were facing. I'm so sorry you have to go through continuous shots. I'm hoping so much a new delivery system is found.
I was diagnosed with the macular pucker right before my BC diagnosis. When I was younger, I had an eye condition called iritis. The eye doctor that worked on my eyes said I was the worst patient he had seen. Unless they can put me out, I will most likely live with the macular pucker as long as I'm not at risk for losing my sight. It doesn't bother me much and only has a small impact on my vision. Yes, I know.....wimp I am.Katy, You're awesome. I just felt like saying that tonight.
Iris, I have built in ankle weights! hahaha I think they call them cankles.
Octo, Good for you for getting away. I hope you took Gabe with you. Will you bring him on your trip in March?? I'd love to meet him and thank him for being such a good friend to our Octogirl!! The redwoods are so beautiful. What a magical place for a hike. Great choice of music for the drive home. I can't wait for March!!!
Cubbie, So sorry to hear about your back. Back pain just sucks. You are just a mess this weekend!! Please, please get better soon. Double healing vibes being sent through the tube!! I'm glad you had a sympathetic doctor.
Molly, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. (((((((Molly)))))) I'm in agreement...cancer sucks...big time.
Rose, I can't believe I didn't see you slip in to CT. So great to see you!! I was wondering how you were. I saved a comfy chair for you!!
Hope all that have been in pain are getting some relief today.
I've got an MO appointment in the AM. The highlight is I'll get to have lunch with my DD. She is meeting me at my appointment.
Thinking of ALL the crazies tonight. Sleep well...love to all...quiet crazies too!!

.........so glad to see I'm not the only crazy that could start a chapter of Fabrics Anonymous.......

Oh, crazies--so wish I could do a west coast swing and join you. Sounds like a blast! I'll wave from whatever college campus in the east or midwest that we happen to be visiting at that time. And if the kid is interested in USC or Cal Tech I'm sending him your way.
Octo, what a lovely weekend! It has been so long since I've seen the redwoods, so majestic.
Cubbie, all I can say is that during rads and right after, my entire body was in revolt. I got skin rashes, various random aches and pains (especially thumb cancer), digestive this and that. Feel better; back pain's no fun.
((((((Molly)))))) Cancer does, indeed, royally, horribly, disgustingly, beastily suck. I'm so sorry for your friend's family and for all those taken too soon.
Slow, yes, I did read the Times while the bread was in the oven. Nothing like a well-reported story about the Zika virus to take one's mind off one's troubles....
A pain-free, engaging Monday to all. Happy Year of the Monkey!

cubbie, sorry you hurt your back, do be nice to it and rest it up, maybe take an otc anti inflametory,,that is what my spine doc says I should have done but did not
Butt cheeks hurt last night from using the weights but hot shower and stretches have scared them away for now. Seeing my pt this morning so need rules from him on how to use my cute new weights
Did I hear snow in our forecast? Dang it all, think I will just be in denial

Slow...yes, of course Gabe came with me! He goes on all of my trips now. Funny thing is, I almost left him home this trip because I was trying to pack light and it was all last minute, but I have decided he is my good luck talisman so couldn't leave him home. You will definitely meet him in March! (though I think he needs a shampoo and blow dry before then :-))

Molly- I am so very sorry for your loss. Sending a gentle hug.
Cubbie- you really have been hit with a lot of stuff in a short time. Back pain is life altering. I sure hope you get to feeling better all over very soon. Hugs to you also.
Octo- so glad you got away and feel better.
Love to all the other Crazies today! Hope everybody is able to deal with what they have to deal with this week!

Just a minute out to let you guys know I am still on the earth. I quit taking Tamoxifen for four days, ate a ton of prunes, and fiber tablets, maybe overdid it, suffered a day of things moving too fast . . . once I was back to "normal" I started on Tamoxifen again. Today is Day 2 and it does look like I'm heading back for the slow-mo suffering again. I just took some fiber pills in hopes I can stave it off. I'll send a note to my MO, since I think it's pretty for-sure the medication. I am SO grateful for the inputs, made me happy that I, ahem, gutted it out since all those tests end up being inconclusive. No thank you. I have good life insurance...
One medicine I've been taking daily that might affect my stomach was aspirin. I was taking two aspirin a day for arthitis, lymphedema pain, radiation recovery pain, and also because I was concerned about the blood clot risk. I ran out five days ago, the day before my attack, and went without anything. Today an hour ago I took two Ibuprofen, it helps me tolerate this god-forsaken sleeve and the bra longer.
Gallbladder...oh man. I hope not. About 18 months ago I found I couldn't tolerate creamer in my coffee without getting nauseous, and my coffee started tasting bad. I've wondered what could cause that, must be menopause. I'll keep an eye out for what else disagrees with me. I haven't been paying attention.

I have a huge fabric stash too. I have a huge craft stash in general. When we moved house last time hubby said, "This truck is half full of your craft stuff". LOL Can I have TOO much??? Actually I have been sorting some and making a pile I can part with. I haven't done any craft for ages but hoping now I'm done with chemo I may feel more motivated.
eggroll I can so relate. I started on Arimidex 3 weeks ago and the constipation has been terrible. Laxatives, prune juice, high fibre diet. Tried them all but still not "normal". See the Dr next week. Will have to discuss it with him.
So very sorry for your loss Molly.

Eggroll.. I think the tamoxifen was causing me some constipation when I first started taking it. Then good old Dr Google said to take it woth.a large drink of water to combat it.. and it has worked for me ( touch wood) . I always do that, plus have upped my intake during the day as well. I wish Dr Google had said a.glass of wine was the answer :-)
Molly.. Sorry to hear about your sister. It's just not fair :-(
Slow.. I had a lovely weekend mowing the lawn. Ugh..Hubby's not allowed out in the wind or sun for a month.... Half his luck!! ... HaHa.. It's summer here, plenty of showers and the lawn is growing profusely !! Thinking of your life with ypur doctors visits this week. (Hugs)
Octo.. Wish I could be there to meet Gabe in March :-(
Cubbie.. I feel.for you and the back pain. Hope you continue to feel better.
PTS... Sorry to hear about your butt cheeks hurting.. Maybe you need your PT cutie to massage them for you.?? 😃😱
(( Ducky.))
Hugs to everyone.. I'm off to mow some more lawn.😞

Smurf.. Hi.. Must of posted at the same time. You're another one with a material stash! I think you, Katy, Jan and Sewingnut could have a wonderful time swapping bits and pieces.! :-)

Eggroll, I hope you can find the right balance to help with your side effects. I have irritable bowel syndrome, so I know what you mean about the back and forth between things not moving and things moving too fast.
Lucy, it's so weird to think about mowing the lawn right now - we got a bit of snow earlier today. I'd prefer to be mowing, that's for sure!
My back is doing better today, just a little sore when I reach behind me. The ibuprofen seems to have helped a lot.

Good Morning to all my Crazy Town Beauties.
It's been a REALLY long time since I've had the mental and emotional energy to be present for this amazing place we all populate. There are many new residents that have moved in since I have been on hiatus; WELCOME ALL. Please forgive the group welcome at this moment, I am sure you were properly welcomed by many of the founding good women here.
Even though I have been 'missing' I truly do think of this home EVERY DAY, as it has offered me support, laughs, wisdom, delicious food 'through the tubes, and new friendships with wonderful, intelligent and warm women.
Hoping that my energy continues to rise so I can engage more personally soon.
Till then please know CT is never far from my thoughts and heart.
And I thank each of you dear women, you know who you are, who have been partying in my pocket, the last 6 plus weeks.
Big love and gentle bear hugs to all.
Gaia aka Gogo
or you can just call me Christine
