Jan, just thinking about the show reminded me that they were to publish a book of the quilts, which I was able to get from the library. It's worth a look. The title is Red and White Quilts: Infinite Variety. Stunning.
Welcome back, Robin! Bronchitis and strep sounds pretty yucky. Hope you're on the mend.
I hit a bit of a crazy wall today. Saw the MO for the first time since radiation ended. I'm getting Herceptin every three weeks, but other than that I'm not being treated. Me: So this is it? Drugs every three weeks and just call you guys if I get any weird symptoms or aches? MO: That's pretty much it. Patients sometimes get a little freaked out around this point because we stop torturing them.
Ya think? Freaked out? Because they're not shooting me up with poison or cutting out body parts or zapping me with turbocharged x-rays?
I can handle freaked out, I guess. Especially if it comes with hair. I will join you all in the random obsessing about random aches department. Actually, I joined you in that sense months ago. But it has never actually been spelled out for me that way.
Live and learn. And Happy Friday. And it's almost time for a glass of wine....

Robin- welcome back. That was an extra serving of crud you got!
Rainn- yes this time after tx is crazier than ever. My MO starting talking NED. I said what? I call it NLFD. Not looking for disease. Doesn't mean it's not there. Andharder to find now too without host breasts, right ??? Crazy making
Enjoy that glass of wine! I'd join you but those darn liver enzymes .... And a relentless 36 hr sinus headache. Or maybe it's.......,
0 -
Katy, I read that and was trying to figure out how the F as in F*** fit into it. Smutty mind. Sorry.
Eh, those enzymes! I suppose lemon-infused vodka's not kosher? Hope the headache goes away soon!
0 -
Rainn- Hah! That would be NFLFD!!!!
No translation needed!
So tempting your suggestion. I have (always at the ready in my freezer) my homemade organic limoncello. I'm sure that though simple and unprocessed ( I'm proud of the only 3 ingredients and water) it would be harder on the liver than just simple glass of wine. I am meditating on a future sunny and warm day on the north porch, under the wisteria. With a small tot of limoncello. A happy place indeed.
0 -
I don't suppose the fact it's organic helps? But yes, someday in the future, and we will all join you on the porch that, like everyone's pocket, keeps getting larger and larger!
I was envisioning a lemon tree somewhere off in the distance, and a tomato garden, and an herb garden, which I would happily tend.
0 -
Your imaginary garden sounds lovely. I say organic because I use organic lemons. Only the peels get used and the cane alchohol draws out the flavor. (I then use the juice for other purposes).
If pesticides have been used in the lemon, they would wind up in great concentration I fear, even after a good washing. But the sugar isn't organic and neither is the alchohol. And grain alcohol (180 proof) I should imagine is quite hard to deal with.

here is a link to my limoncello recipe. It's a video and demonstrates how fun and easy it is to make. I buy small swing top bottles wholesale and give this away as gifts all throughout the year. You can pay as little as $3-4 per bottle and most people treasure the gift because it is unusual, delicious, and takes months to make. Though your active prep time is only hours.

Rain, Thanks for the book title. I just ordered it thru the library system. Meantime, I'm designing a green and white quilt for st patrick.

Only read the last to pages so far. Been busy with work and reno.
Dreams about hair... Here's mine, also 2-3 nights ago, I am 5 months PFC this week sporting about an inch silver flat top .In the dream I had collar length blonde wavy hair, which the wind was tossling, a huge grin on my face saying I don't think I need the wig anymore. So disappointed when I got up and looked in the mirror to see it wasn't so. I have bought products for spiking etc. But with it being cold then hot then cold again maybe later in the spring I will brave it. No trains no one yelling after me.

Jackbirdie, Octogirl and anyone willing to give me feedback . . . I'm really in a quandary. Tuesday about 5pm I was hit with crippling abdominal cramps, it was almost scary driving home. All night long I felt like I was delivering a baby, my feet were cold and my skin ached, like a flu or something, I had some constipation...I was a little afraid it was the Tamoxifen I'd been taking for 15 days. So I quit and three days and about 20 prunes later, the cramping has turned into waves of ... ahem. Well let's just say I feel like I lost about 5 pounds this afternoon.
I've also been kind of nauseous and not that interested in food (that's kind of good). I don't know if I should reach out to my oncologist, my GP, find a gastroenterologist? I'm sore as heck in the abdominal area. I had some pain in my ovary yesterday, too. I'm thinking I will try the Tamoxifen one more time and if the constipation returns then I will know to call the oncologist. And if it doesn't and I get back to normal, I go on with life... just never been doubled over with pain like that off and on for more than 30 hours and then still not right a couple of days after that. Other option don't start back on Tamoxifen and if I'm still having all of this rollercoaster gastric stuff going on call my GP?
I cannot believe I am even asking this! Oy! Crazytown...

OK--dicta from the pseudo-mayor here. It's all organic. The porch is as big, or as small, as it needs to be. So is the garden--there's a plot for anyone who wishes to potter, and a space for a perpetual tea party. And dreams evaporate upon awakening. (I hope.)

eggroll, since you just started the Tamoxifen, I'd start with the MO. Give him or her a call! And hugs! Hope you feel better very soon.
I had an absolutely shit day at work. Went home practically in tears. Actually, the entire week has just strengthened my resolve to get serious about retirement. Ugh.
Fortunately, I checked my email and there was a long one from my daughter explaining how she had delt with a difficult situation involving my granddaughter's school, how the situation had a happy ending, and how she found the strength to deal with it by channelling me, since she says she learned how to be strong and not to take any shit from bullies from me. Can you imagine a better way to end the day than a tribute from one's own daughter? I love her so much!!
But the stress of the crap stuff hasn't quite worn off yet. TGIF. I've really cut back on alcohol a lot since dx, and honestly for the most part I haven't missed it. But tonight I am craving it. It will be a limoncello night for me. Delicious, soothing, and a bit fun.
NLFFD (did I get that right?) comes after SFBC (Stupid...well you get the idea). Just saying.
More later when I am feeling myself again.
Hugs to all,
Octogirl

Eggroll- I have not heard particularly about Tamoxifen causing those kinds of problems. It might have been a stomach bug. I think if it were me I'd try to get back on an even keel, if you can, then restart the Tamox. If the problems come back I'd definitely call the MO. If you call now, my bet is he or she will deny it. But if you can isolate the variables and reproduce the symptoms, you'll have credibility and confidence. Two things are fo sho. We all react so differently to these treatments. And prescribing docs never think their drugs are the culprit.
Rose- welcome back! Great to see you!
Octo- so sorry about your day, but very grateful the universe timed your well-earned gift from your daughter for when you really needed it.
Night all!

Eggroll..............the after effect once you lost whatever was gripping you the discomfort was probably your "colon" reacting to the stress of whatever you. had.........................soemtimes when you get bad belly pains it is normal for the stomach to be sore afterward.................
Bad stomach pain with diarrhea is not unusual......but if the pain did not produce loose bowels then I doubt it was a bug............and if it took laxative type (prunes) to get relief I would say "constipation, and rock like stool"........which would cause the after discomfort.............just a thought, but have it check out.
Nice talking about "shit" right............LOL.......oh well we're all friend right........

Thanks everyone... Yep, Ducky, I don't think it was a virus... because like you say no "D" until 4 days of prunes later. The thing is, I have NEVER EVER been crippled and wimpering in pain like except when I delivered my 9 and a half pound baby boys natural child birth. Seriously, if I wasn't so sick of doctors I would have had my husband take me to urgent care or even called an ambulance. The thought crossed my mind many times that night that maybe I was going to die, but I still didn't want to see a doctor, especially if it turned out to be something embarrassing which it most definitely IS! And I've been eating healthy and drinking lots of water and everything was going just fine until suddenly it wasn't. So I like Jackbirdie's advice, isolate this sucker. I have seen other women on the boards reporting the big C as a side effect. I will probably end up having to figure out how many prunes a day to eat while I'm taking it ha ha. I'm sure there will be the perfect number eventually. Yikes.
Octogirl, thanks for chiming in on such a rough day... how amazing to hear that from your child. Makes it all worth being a mom, don't it? Hang in there, enjoy your Limoncello. I'm in the same boat, I don't miss it usually but a bad day can really make an adult beverage sound good. Right now, my dog is sick with pneumonia and heart failure. We shed a lot of tears, and spent a lot of money, and we're hoping he'll feel better. But he's pretty listless. This doggie fell out of the sky days before my cancer diagnosis -- his mama died of cancer kind of sudden, they took her to the hospital and never brought her back. So a man was going door to door trying to find someone to take him. I was just going to foster him, but instead my husband and I fell in love with him. An old blind deaf extremely overweight Shih Tzu, the silkiest fur for petting and appreciative of all the attention.
My neighbor George Kirk took this picture a few doors down from me in Rocky Bay, Washington.
I thought it was phenomenal. Enjoy!0 -
Molly ,
So sorry to hear about your friend, we just lost a member of our community here the other day, she got sick last fall and just got taken down so fast, also the wife of one of my surgeons also died of this the other day she was also a doctor. It just is so sad and depressing.
Ducky,
So sorry you bidding farewell to your shore house, it's so tough to pack stuff up and leave years of memories behind. The only comfort in that is you are selling them a house filled and blessed with happy family memories.
Hope everyone is carrying on...
My "de-portation" went easily but I've been in a lot of pain from my big trip from the garage into the laundry room. Evidently I landed in a bad way on my left arm and hurt my wrist and shoulder. So I was back at the hospital the next day to get x-rays after seeing my PCP. I'm now in a wrist splint and my doc wants me to get pt on my shoulder. Never done physical therapy before so this should be interesting. Next up is an oopherectomy so I'll be glad when all the surgical stuff is done.
Anyway, Onward and upward. I got something to take for sleep,at night since been the port removal on one side and the banging myself up on the other side , it's been hard to sleep.
So have a lovely weekend Crazies ... If I feel up to it, I'll be buzzing around here .... Hope you all gave a great Presidents Day weekend

Sula, I am so sorry you are in pain and I hope the PT helps! It sucks falling but I am glad you had it checked it out...last time I fell in the laundry room I broke my foot (it was a while ago, pre-SFBC). Wish I could be sitting on the plaza drinking coffee with you right now! Let us know when the ooph is, we will be in your pocket...
Hugs to all. The weather is warming up quite a bit in California, and I am off for a walk.

Suladog, sorry about the losses in your area. I did PT for the first time ever after my umx. It was very helpful and educational. I hope you feel better soon. I need to start doing my stretching again. My side with the TE is tight and a bit painful. I hope you are doing better, ducky. Slow, how are you feeling? Hugs to everyone.

Eggroll, I can't comment on the Tamoxifen, but how sad about your little dog. What an astonishing photo--thanks for posting it!
Octo, in the long run, your daughter's comment will mean SO much more than the work nonsense. What a tremendous tribute. Enjoy your walk!
Sula, I'm so sorry you're in pain. It seems so unfair when the universe, seeing how much is on our plates, sends us something non-BC related.
We've been live-streaming this and that lately, and last night, DH asked if we should try a special on John Adams that he's been wanting to watch. I said I wouldn't mind it at some point, but I'd been sleepless the night before (always am before MO appointments) and I knew it would put me to sleep. DH said, further making his case, "Besides, their niece had breast cancer." Now, he is in general a nice guy and has been very supportive through this whole process, but that was NOT the right thing to say. Which he realized the moment he'd said it. Anyway, we ended up watching Murder By Death, which we hadn't seen in decades and was hilarious.
Clear and cold here. This afternoon, I'm hosting the last of our winter CSA drop-offs, so will be standing outside for about two hours. Wool hat and mittens coming out!

sula, thought of you this am. Food network folks are looking for a person to host on the cooking network, of course I thought of you?.
Back from gym, back is feeling happy but I do need to remember to take day off between stuff but slept well with no one pills, yeah for me
On the horrible pain from Molly I think, i have a foggy memory of a similar torture after eating some Chia seeds needless to say, i dumped the seeds, maybe it is something you ate?
Chilly but sunny in jersey today

Eggroll- hope you are feeling better? I was thinking after I last posted how much your description of your pain reminded me of a gallbladder attack. Itake it you still have yours? That would be something to think about if the pain comes back. I had repeated episodes very similar sounding, until I drove myself to the ER a couple of years ago. Blood tests and US can confirm. Listen to your body
Sula.omg. Hugs to you gf. I can't believe how your cup runneth fuckingover. Hope you aren't too sore.
Cubbie- thinking of you. Hugs.
Waving hello to all Crazies strolling on main street this weekend 🙋🙋🙋🙋🙋🙋🙋

EGGROLL! Something similar happened to me last July. I did go to Urgent Care, where I spent the entire day curled up in the fetal position! It was awful; I thought it was worse than childbirth... and I labored with 3 babies. They ran all sorts of tests, CTs, blood work... I don't remember all of the tests because I was in so much pain. The only drug that helped was intravenous morphine... and that only allowed me to uncurl from the fetal position. I couldn't even talk to the doctors and was so thankful my hubby was there to interpret. Anyway, all of the tests eliminated a lot of things, but didn't identify a cause. I followed up with my primary, a gastroenterologist, an ortho (crazy, but it was recommended) and my MO. When all was said and done, it was decided that the most likely cause was all of the meds I'm taking. The Fosamax and Naproxen are hard on the stomach. Plus the Prilosec eliminates stomach acid. The docs believe that over a period of a few months my stomach lining was slowly being effected by the meds. This resulted in extreme pain. When you are in extreme pain, your digestive system will slow down, which can lead to constipation. (Before the pain, my bowels had been functioning fine.) I stopped taking the Naproxen and went off of the Fosamax for a few months. It hasn't happened again. Are you taking any drugs that can irritate your stomach? I would call either your MO or primary and ask them about any meds you are taking. I hope this helps.
I would talk more fellow Crazies, but it's noon and I'm still in my robe!

eggroll, surely hope you are feeling better or have hit up the doc

Hi Crazies!!!!!
Molly, My condolences on the loss of your friend. Life is such a mystery at times. This is one of those times I just don't understand how one person/family can go through so much. It just seems wrong.
I'm doing better....thank you for asking. Still have intermittent numbness in the face and my left side is still weak, but I'm learning to live with it. Hope to find out more when I see my MO on Monday.Ducky, Thinking of you this weekend. (((((((Ducky))))))
Katy, Thinking of you today. Hope you're having a good weekend so far!! Meditation on a sunny porch sounds lovely. Wish I could join you! I'd bring some lemons!!
Tomboy, (ʘᴥʘ)!!
Lucy, Hope you and your DH are having a good weekend. I owe you an email. I actually went for a short walk today with my dog. I'm trying very hard to move more. Unfortunately, it wears me out and by the time nighttime rolls around, I'm just exhausted. Hopefully my body will get used to this strange phenomenon they call "walking." hahaha
QM, Thanks for the permission to use your phrase. You come up with some good ones!I don't think eating a watercress sandwich is a requirement to be mayor. hahahaha Originally the only requirement was to be the CRAZIEST. I thought I fit that description really well at the time. These days I'm not feeling AS crazy. I could just be deluding myself though!!
Rainy, That's really weird that you and Octo had almost the same dream.I don't think I had any hair dreams...unless I did and don't remember. Those quilts are unbelievable. Thanks for sharing the link. I was freaked out after rads too. That was MY most emotional time during treatment. For me, it felt like jumping out of a plane without a parachute. Freaked out with hair....hahahahahahaha!! I like it!!! You always give me a good chuckle.
Gaia, Miss your smile. Hugs to you!!
Chevy, I'm glad you and your brother had each other to hold on to during that time.. He sounds like a really great guy. So very true....life does go on, and as time passes, the wounds aren't quite as deep as they once were. Not a day goes by that I don't think of my parents, but now I enjoy telling funny stories about them. I still feel them guiding me.
Poppy, You finally got a dog!!! I'm so excited for you and your family. What a great picture. What did you name him????
JAN, OUCH!! A shot in the eye doesn't sound very appealing. I have a hard enough time putting in eye drops. Do they put you out for something like that??? I have a macular pucker I still haven't taken care of because I'm so bad about things going IN my eye. You're a brave soul. (((((((JAN)))))))
Always nice to see you peeking out under the rock!! Paperwork is all done!! YAY. I HATE tax season. My least favorite time of year. WOW....triplets!! That must be so much fun for you. I would be thrilled to have just ONE grand...to have three at once...I would be beside myself with joy!!Octo, Sorry you had such a bad week at work. ((((((((Octo)))))))) What a wonderful thing for your DD to say!! She sounds amazing, just like her mom. I hope you HAD the glass of wine.
Sula, Oh no!! That's the WRONG kind of TRIP for you to be taking!! You're getting hit from all ends. Sending good juju and healing vibes through the tube. I hope the rehab goes well for you. (((((Sula))))))
Iris, There is A LOT of things I can do in my mind too. Too bad it doesn't translate into the REAL world. haha
Shorfi, Waving hi to one of our quiet crazies. Hope your pain continues to improve!!
Robin, Welcome back! Sounds like you got the double whammy. Hope you're feeling better. Thanks for sharing the link to your song. Great job!!
Eggroll, I'm sorry to hear about your tummy troubles. I had a bowel blockage when going through chemo and it was awful - extremely painful. It landed me in the emergency room. Don't let it go too long because blockages can wreak all kinds of havoc with your innards. Hoping you get better soon!! People laugh at me, but I swear by the chocolate marshmallow cookies sold at Ralph's (their brand). I've tried prunes, magnesium and every laxative known to man, but these cookies are the only thing that keeps me moving. Whenever I haven't gone for a few days, I eat a few cookies. NO other brands work....it's so weird. Wish I had known about them while I was going through chemo. I hope your dog is feeling better soon!! Amazing photo!!
Italy, I was at Sam's Club and saw a big tub of coconut oil - it made me think of you!!
Cubbie, Thinking of you and sending hugs your way.
Jersey, Hope you're having a good weekend!
Littleblue, I haven't seen you in so long. I miss seeing you!!
7 of 9, Keeping you in my thoughts and sending hugs.
April25, Not sure if you're reading or not. I haven't seen you in a long time. I hope all is going well with you!!
Thinking of all the QUIET CRAZIES. If you're reading.....
Hope everyone is having a pain free, peaceful weekend.
Love to all!!
Edited to add: M0mmy....when do you give your speech????

This picture is hanging up in my favorite Mexican restaurant. I always thought it was such a cool picture. I wanted to share it with you all.
A picture within a picture.
Sleep well crazies!!

Slow, I though I was losing my mind! Your post is double!
The new dog was named Otto by his previous owners, but he doesn't respond to it. I don't think it really suits him. We call him Pup-Pup.... I wanted to name him Jax but that doesn't feel right. Yesterday, I came up with Wiley (after Wile E. Coyote), which suits his goofy personality. I'm not sure that will stick either. Poor dog.
0 -
Poppy, You mean the same post twice??? Hmmmmm......I'm not seeing that. You been smoking some wacky tobacky??? haha
My dog IS named Jax. He is as dopey as they come.
When we adopted my Rat Terrier, his name was Monty. We changed it to Baylee. Once we got to know him, my DH wished we had named him Turbo. haha Here are my two.
Jax and Murphy, spooning.
0 -
Beppy, Hate to say it, but your message is double. Who's smoking what?
0 -
DUH!!
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!
I'm totally losing it. Puff, puff....pass.
Ooops....wrong thread!!
I think I need more oxygen to the brain.
Hopefully I didn't cut anyone out of the post when I fixed it.

Slow, that picture from Mexico is wild! And your waving hand....
Jan, can't wait to see your St. Patrick's quilt. You will post?
Sunday.... Which of these things should I do:
Wash kitchen/bathroom floor. * Clean stove. * Make bread. * Go out and buy a couple of things, then make chicken stock. Somewhere in there, figure out dinner. * Buy New York Times: read it while sitting on the couch.
That's what I thought. Heading out for the paper.
