Brilliant detective work, Tomboy. Slow, darn that it's not fungus. I love the jokes especially the five year olds jokes. My DGS is starting to tell jokes. Nearly four year olds are delightful. Rainny, I was going to delay recon until Fall but work is becoming very busy. I want to be healed for our 25th anniversary in early September so I am considering pushing for July which is 7 months post rads. Jan, I hope you are feeling better. Love to all. I am getting a sore throat and need to go to sleep soon.

They ARE delightful Molly!! I really do miss having small ones around the house. I hope your sore throat doesn't get too bad. Better get some rest. Let me know if you'd like some homemade chicken soup. It has healing powers!!

Tomboy, I got a shot of the whole thread. It should be interesting to see if he tries to edit the posts. Dirt bag.

Ah, the knock-knock phase. How well I remember it.

Great detective work, Tomboy. There's a new post up that somewhat explains the situation: https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/73/topics...

The whole time I was typing yesterday's post about thumbs, I wanted to tell you thumbthing. I know, pathetic.

Light snow here. Enjoy the day, crazies!

Morning crazies, car back, checkbook got a big hit but I think my ride is smoother.

My neighbor referred me to the senior center in town as they do taxes for free......got an appt next week, mine are pretty simple so I think they should be ok, no way do I want to try them myself and maybe my acct guy will be back on the job next year, oh dear, I really hope the man is ok

Regarding 5 year humor, i tried to get the BP nurse to tell me 5 yr old jokes when the take my BP at the cancer center, it helps to lower my bp, really it does

The youngest nephew in my family used to be great at jokes, he actually created a Web site years ago for 8 yr olds, it was a cartoon character withpookiemon body and sadder huseum head, sorry on spelling

Okay so I woke up early this morning with some pretty serious knee and hip pain....it woke me up from sleep. This has happened a few times in the last month or so. What else is new ya know?

I just noticed on the top of the same foot a swollen area so now I'm tripping about a blood clot. Can you have a blood clot that affects your foot?? I know the leg and lungs, but what about the foot?

Ugg this so stupid. It's on the right side, not sure that you can even see it.

I would get to the doc and have it checked out.. I hate to say it but it could be lymphedema or a clot - either way you should get it checked out.. ps - I can see it.

Can hear one of my chooks clucking.. So off to collect the egg... .cant wait for my Araucana to start laying. because they lay blue eggs !! HaHa. I'll be on every thread posting pics of the egg when she does 😃😱

Or if you can get to the emergency room, Tang. It's visible, very much so, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was a clot. I am so sorry that you are having to worry about this, or an urgent care clinic if you must, just for them to assess it for you. Yes, you can have clots in your foot. It's nice to see you here with us, I hope it doesn't hurt too much.

Just saying hey for now, and Katy! I am so sorry! I did see your text the other day, and the message you gave was much needed! My bad though~~ 'cause I didn't respond as soon as I saw you there, and then my very bad brain forgot it was there.... My sincerest apologies for that, I know you say to me, "No worries", but if you keep letting me get away with stuff, I will never get ANYTHING done!! A big hug and a special thank you for that.

Rainnyc! "Thumbthing! I really liked that one! Lucky thing I wasn't eating cake! I woulda choked, clever girl!

    Good Evening Crazies,

Tang, I agree with GMA and the rest of the crazies. We are all in your pocket. Maybe it's my screen, but it looks like you have a bit of discoloration. Maybe you injured yourself without realizing?? I do that a lot. I think it's good you're getting it checked though. Please let us know how it turns out when you can. Wishing for something simple for you!!

Rainy, "I wanted to tell you thumbthing." hahahahahahahahahahahahaha Too funny!!! Thanks for that laugh.

Shorfi, ALWAYS so nice to see you!! A splitting drain does not sound good.

Fowlertee, It's a good name!! My DD went to HS with Rickie Fowler. He is the hometown celebrity. I'm thinking I wouldn't mind losing that challenge. haha

Iris, YAY for a smooth ride. Free tax preparation....what a deal!! I believe you about the BP. I think humor is underrated as it pertains to stress. Kids can be so creative. So cool that your nephew made his own website.

Lucy, As you know, we are twins for a reason. I was the queen of worry. I used to wake up from a sound sleep with a panic attack. I kept a brown bag in my night stand to slow my breathing. That's why I picked the name slowdeepbreaths. I've worked very hard to retrain my brain and it took a long time to get to a place where I'm not in a complete panic every night. If someone like me can do it, I believe anyone can. Our minds are very powerful. My DH is like yours....naturally calm. I can't wait to see the eggs!!! I love when you talk about your chooks.

I'm off to help makes Rainy's no knead bread!! I will take a picture when we get it in the bowl. TY to Katy for sending me the recipe again. I'd lose my head if it wasn't attached.

    BBL to check on Tang.

    Love to all....quiet crazies too!!

    Good evening Crazies...

Well, I hope you all will indulge me while I whine a bit about some aspects of my day. Nothing like the challenges some are facing, and I certainly didn't need to go to urgent care, but sometimes one needs to whine on Friday to get it out of the way before the weekend...

I ended up leaving the office early today. A co-worker (who doesn't report to me, unfortunately, or I would have sent her home) came in, announced that she had bronchitis and probably the flu as well, and proceeded to cough like crazy. constantly. while she was working at her computer, when she went to bathroom, consulted with other co-workers, whatever. coughing. She sounded awful. My office is right across from her cube. I could shut my door, but I was still freaked by the germs. Not sure I am still all that immune-compromised at this point, but I certainly don't want to get sick! (I am sure our poor Jan would agree!)....

    So I left.

and of course I have TONS to do, and I personally find it hard to work at home, which means catching up this weekend...

GRRR!!! This is absolutely at the top of my list of pet peeves: people going to work sick! If they have ANY alternative, it is just plain RUDE. Now, I of course realize that some people don't have much choice given lack of sick leave, limited funds, and all of that, but trust me: everyone who works for my employer has generous sick leave, and I know for a fact that her boss would be happy to let her work from home even, or take a few days off. But apparently, he lacks the nerve to tell her to just STAY HOME!!! Why are people so thoughtless? If any of the rest of us get sick, the employer is worse off than if she just took the time she needed to get well....

Ok, that is off my chest, thanks for letting me rant.

So here comes the 'am I a bit crazy?' part: I decided to take advantage of this turn of events. Lemonade out of lemons and all that. Went to the gym and swam (that part was great, the best part of my day)...came home and realized I had everything I needed to cook a hearty, healthy dinner to go along with the rain that was just starting and that is expected to stay around all weekend...I had lentils, onion, fennel, garlic, kale, carrot, some stock, spices....even a little bacon just to be sure it wasn't too healthy....:-)

Made my soup, left it to simmer. Came back to check on it. It was mush! The consistency of bad mashed potatoes! Those lentils were split peas! I am not that blind, so how the heck did I miss that?

Sigh. It wasn't awful, but it was chalky. and mushy. and there is a lot of it.

Hubby had offered to bring home take out. I said no, feeling virtuous. THAT was a mistake.

I hope you all enjoy the weekend. I am planning to catch up on work and watch the blessed water fall from the sky!

    Love to all crazies;

    Octogirl

Octo, I know what you mean about wishing the contagious people would go home. It doesn't do a business any good either. I remember one year at my previous employer, a couple of us got bronchitis and tried to tough it out anyway. The whole department ended up sick and it turned out to be a bigger staffing problem than if the first few people had just stayed home in the first place. Yesterday I was at a sandwich shop and this little kid was walking around coughing without covering his mouth, right at table height. Little kids don't know any better, but the Mom had them sit down right at the table next to mine. Like a foot away. They couldn't pick a table away from everyone else? I was rude and got up and moved. I just got over the last bug I had, no thanks.

Swimming sounds great though. Bummer your soup didn't turn out right. I've never cooked lentils, are they one of those items where you have to take them off the heat at just the right moment?

Octo, Oh do I hear you. I'd like to strangle the person who didn't stay home and spread some nasty disease. Day 15 today. I saw PCP today who sent me for an xray for pneumonia. Might just be bronchitis, but I am still very sick. As far as I know, I've kept my germs to myself. Today was only 2nd time out of house in more than 2 weeks, both times for doctor appointments.

Can you thin down your soup? or is best used as wallpaper paste (one of my favorite recipes). Sorry.

Back later. Need another nap. Jan

Octo, This is Crazy Town....whine away!!! You must be so glad it's Friday. I think we should have Friday whine every week!! I posted this on another thread. I think it's more than appropriate here.

I also got you a gift for when you return to work. This should keep you safe from germs!

    Fashionable, yes???

    and........my all time favorite.

Total bummer about the soup. Look on the bright side....your fiber intake for the week will be taken care of!! :)

JAN, I can't believe you're still sick!! You poor dear. Sending extra hugs!! I sure hope it's not pneumonia. For you....

    image

    Wallpaper paste!!! hahahahahahahahahaha!!!

Cubbie, I don't think you were rude. You were proactive!!

Rainy and Katy, I hope this looks right???

I'm really looking forward to trying this bread tomorrow. I hope it turns out well!!

Tang, I hope all went well at the urgent care. Thinking of you!

Molly, Thinking of you too. Lots of germs floating around Crazy Town tonight. The offer on the homemade soup is always open.

Ducky, You've been way too quiet. Don't make me take out the milk carton!! Seriously though....I hope all is well with you.

To all the rest of the crazies.....Wishing you all a great weekend!!

    Happy Friday!!

Yes everybody please be careful and get to the doctor if symptoms don't subside. Darling grandson was sick a week and a half, cough and couldn't stay asleep. Went to the doctor yesterday, and he has a mild case of pneumonia. So this flu/cold thing can turn bad.

Theresa, hugs for your grandson. Octogirl, is it okay if I giggle about the split peas? You just did what I do constantly. I always pick up the wrong item on the shelf (decaf coffee for example), misread the recipe or forget a major ingredient. I really don't know why but we get a good laugh out of it. A lot of our little family lore is based around the dingy things I do. I hope it at least tastes good even though it's pasty.

Beppy, your bread dough looks fine to me. The no-knead bread dough isn't pretty and silky, the way it is if you knead it. It always looks a bit like a science experiment until the moment you put it into the oven. But the end result is a thing of beauty and delicious!

Also, could you send that plumber over? I have a sink that needs fixing. Or, "fixing."

    Jan, feel better!

Tang, what happened at the UC center?

Dear lemonade-maker Octo, I feel your pain. I spent about two years once within a stone's throw from a heavy smoker with smoker's cough. I could feel those carcinogens entering my lungs every minute of the day. Complained to no avail. It's infuriating that your co-worker has no regard for others. Glad you made use of your time away.

Tomboy, please don't choke on my behalf!

Love to all noisy and quiet crazies!

tang glad you got your thingies checked out, dang for having to spend the evening in error

I had that flu thing earlier and do remember folks telling me the stuff going around had a nasty cough connected with it that hung around for long time and they were right
