Pennsylgal...I just remembered...when I was undergoing chemo treatment, I never had any aches or pains. Like you, my stenosis improved while on chemo.
Proud...I was diagnosis with lumbar stenosis prior to my second bout with chemo. Sad to say, I didn't experience any pain, could walk normal and even stand for long periods of time. Who will ever know. It was improved. Hope you had a good doc appointment.

Sat on a metal folding chair for about 4 hours, pain when I got up but managed to scare it away and feeling good, hope you are doing well

Putting in the expansion leaf in the CrazyTown Inn for however long it's needed.
For some reason, the East Wind Inn in Tenants Harbor, ME, is always how I've envisioned the CrazyTown Inn. But there are many B&Bs in this.

I thought it to be strange to wake up after being well rested. Im waiting for the side effects to kick in . Anemia etc but not the eyes to go.
I already spent 4 hrs a couple weekends ago in the ER when my hand turned blue-grey. No blood clot.
It was due to the axilla nodes from my recurrence?? The color came back and is fine .
I feel like I spend more time at doctors. Next stop skin doc . Thanks for reminding me.
It is awesome to have great feed back when your mind is racing what the heck can it be.
Thank you for the good advice and concern.

Just got the word that my sister's lung surgery went well today. Now waiting for path report. My heart-felt thanks for all who sent good wishes to her. You are the best.
I've turned into a rhymes-with-witch today. I'm a wreck waiting for US results on Wednesday. Be warned....

I'm with you, Ducky. Tomorrow is my monthly appoinment with my MO. We'll see how far my estrogen levels have come down. My regular doc's office already called and told me my cholesterol is a little too high. Like I didn't already know that, didn't they notice that in my blood tests last February? Where have these people been?
0 -
Does anyone know the level estrogen should be? Zero?
Reason being is my onc doesnt express the need for my ovaries to come out . I have been told Im boderline menapause by at least 2 other oncs. Just thinking with all the recurrences it can not be good.

I recently decided that I no longer need to take my anti-depressant Lexapro. I was diagnosed with "situational depression" many years ago when I was diagnosed the first time with BC. I feel as if I can handle things a little bit better without the use of Lexapro. I emailed my primary and asked him the best way to wean off this drug. He writes back and says there is no need to wean off...just stop. That is exactly what I did. But reading about Lexapro withdrawal on many boards, there were so many horror stories about stopping this drug.
So I stopped about maybe 2 weeks ago. Night sweats and intense itching. Yesterday I had to pick up my refill for blood pressure and along with that was my refill for the Lexapro. I decided to ask the pharmacist...just out of curiosity how to wean off. She told me how and that is when I told her what my primary said. She said I am withdrawing from the meds and because I did it cold turkey that is why I was experiencing all of the above. She said the primary should had never told me to just stop. I asked her if I should re-start and she said I went through the brunt of it and there was no need.I am furious with my primary. There was no need for me to go through all that crap...withdrawing like a drug addict.
Ok...I digress. Anyway, I am scheduled for surgery on the 23rd to remove those pesky lumps which were diagnosed by ultrasound as fat necrosis. I am praying that the diagnosis will still be the same when they are actually removed. Then my PS will do some revision work and a lift of my left breast. He will also be removing a "nerve" which makes me have severe spasms in that breast. It almost feels like a heart attack. He will also make the skin that is hanging from the right side of my breast flatter. I love my PS, but he wanted to be there in the OR to make sure that my BS does not "mess up" his work...lol.
For some odd reason I feel great today...hope that lasts.
Jan...good news about your sister.
Cubbie...hope everything goes well with your visit.
Proud...so glad you got some relief. My shot would last about 2 weeks.
Slow...you are absolutely the best.
Let me get some work done...hope you all have a beautiful day!

Shorfi, Thanks for thinking of my sister. I had a similar experience going off my anti-depressant (Cymbalta? Lexapro?). Dr Stupid said to simply stop taking it and that's what I did. When my whole body went into rebellion, I looked up how to go off and found out that cold turkey is not the way to do it. So I took those capsules and progressively poured out little bits of the grains until I was down to about nothing. I'll be sending good wishes on the 23rd.
Funthing, I know nothing about estrogen except I suspect I have none.
It's going to be a beautiful day in my neighborhood. Jan

OMG shorfi!! I was on Lexapro long ago. I decided to stop and weaned off over a period of two weeks and it was still hell. I can't imagine what your pcp was thinking! You could have easily become suicidal!!!

This is a point I have been trying to make for years to people who say "oh my Dr told me to take the med/or just stop the med............I worked in big Pharma for 20 years.....this much I can tell you..............that paper insert is put in the box, and that typed 8/10 piece of paper that comes with your script is put there for a reason.l.............for you to read it before you put the first pill in your mouth..........
You will hear many say "OH I DON'T READ THAT CAUSE IF I DID, I WOULD THINK I HAD ALL THE SE'S MENTIONED"............no that is not how it works..........
Reps go into the Dr's office for a "sit down conversation" for a reason......so they can understand the drug.....what the drug does........and how you should dispense it to your patient.....who can take it.......who should not take it........and how to stop it when you find it necessary................
So Ladies.......depend on yourself for the "good info" about what your taking, by reading about the drug......everything about it....not just how to take it.........SE's, Contraindications, Adverse effects, etc.........and if your not sure.....your next best friend is the Pharmacist who filled it.....stay with the same pharmacy.......they have all the info in their system....
Example.....I had surgery and was given a drug...I am allergic to Coedine......so that was not a choice......so they ordered another drug after me telling them that........they prescribed Vicodin........after dropping the script off by my daughter.....I got a phone call........they Pharmacist said "you were given a drug for pain.......you are allergic to Coedine.......I said "yes, but I was given Vicodin"........he said "Vicodin contains Coedine............then said "most of the pain meds contain Coedine.........I said "well I can take it for about 2 days before the SE's set in...............that will get me through the first couple days, and then I will stop taking it..........he would only give me enough for 2 days, and no more then that.......the surgeon ordered 20.......
So 'my point is you need to ask questions no matter what your prescribed....don't depend on your Dr to know what to do.........especially if you have more then one Dr who is treating you...............since they all prescribe...................and don't think that list of drugs you give them on your first vistit matters.................it doesn't............most don't even pay attention to it........be your own advocate.........it could save you a lot of trouble.........just saying.0 -
As far as estrogen goes........even though I was older, had gone through menopause years before cancer I asked the Dr if it would be a good idea to have the ovaries removed since they produce estrogen......this is what I was told....
Your ovaries are probably not producing any estrogen anyway, so that would be unnecessary.....however.....your adrenal glands do.......and they cannot be removed..........now if your byoung......that could make a difference, but it was news to me that more then one organ in your body produced estrogen..............."reason for taking the AI, its a mechanism that stops the production of estrogen, which matters if your tumor is fed by estrogen...............mine was.........but stopped after 4 years because of SE's............will always question my decision, but made a choice..............

I feel so stupid...I should have known better. I will be looking into getting another primary physician. My husband does not care for this doctor.
Ducky...thanks for the info. Normally I am good about things like this, but I just wanted to get off this medicine. So glad I spoke with the pharmacist...now I know the reason for all those horrible SE's...

It's a shame Shorfi, because you DID ask the medical professional who should know. Yes, we should check on things, but when told it's ok, sometimes we don't think to second guess the professional.
I've been on anti depressants for years, due to ptsd, and I was told by one of my old drs in another state, it I ever come off any of them do it gradually over a few month period. He was not kidding.
Jan69 hugs for your sister
Ducky, yes those little inserts I read them all, since I've been on so many meds. They blow your mind.
Funthing, I was told even with my ovaries not putting out much (been through menopause for years) other organs put out estrogen. Argh.
As a woman right now, I feel everything that makes me a woman is a danger. My ovaries, uterus, and most of all my breasts.
Cubbie in your pocket for your MO appointment. I'm the one with no hair, but bushy eyebrows. Go figure.

Pennysgal - I didn't have any joint pain during chemo. My pain started appx 8 weeks after chemo and about 2 weeks after starting Tamoxifen. That's why I put that out there as a possible 'trigger' but really I'm just grasping for an explanation. I've only been on Tamoxifen but haven't been on an AI. I've been off Tamoxifen for 6 weeks and the pain got better for a few weeks but is now flaring up again.
The pain is a deep aching and stiffness in my hands, feet, knees, elbows, upper back, and now my shoulders that is there when I wake up and lasts all day long. It's worse when I have been in one position too long but it still persists even after I've been moving around. My hands are getting to the point that I'm having trouble gripping things and my feet hurt to walk.
I'm being referred to a rheumatologist for a work up but my primary doc thinks I might have some type of inflammatory arthritis - possibly RA. The current working diagnosis is 'RA-like polyarthropathy'.
Whatever it is -it sucks. My MO says not to try the Tamoxifen again until I see the rheumatologist.

Jan- glad to hear your sister's sx went well. I'll stick around in your pocket while you wait for US results. Let's have tea in the comfy corner on the porch.
Cubbie- in your pocket too, dear.
Shorfi- 😡 I am angry you had to go through that, but at the same time glad you are feeling good enough to deal without. Camping out in your pocket till surgery is done and path is clear.
(((Funthing)))
Love to our Mayor Slow and hoping everyone is finally getting a dose of spring, wherever you are.

Bekah- we x posted. So sorry about such debilitating pain. So much worse when there is no explanation for it. I am glad you're getting to a rheumy soon. Sending hugs and mojo for a prompt resolution.

Katy...and you know that sweet husband that I have...poor man...he is so patient right now. I made sure I mentioned to him about the SE's, feeling angry, crying for no reason, being mean to him...and he said, "are you sure you need to stop taking them"? I tried to tell him that I am fine, but if the need ever arises that I need some help, I will try to deal with it. I'm learning so much from Ducky...these pharmacy reps don't care about the patient. They just push the meds off to the physician, and when they are "selling" their products, they make sure to treat the doctor good...nice perks such as vacations, free lunches, etc. I work in the hospital industry and I see it all the time...what a crying shame.
I never had a hot flash in my life!!! But sweating like a pig, water streaming down my back from my hair, and this itching...how women go through hot flashes I don't know.

Wow - craziness in here - I can't read it all. Sorry. Praying for all that are in here and struggling. I heard from my PS today. He is getting a pre-authorization for my revision surgery - will let you all know what happens. It is going to be a slow healing process from what I hear but will actually heal correctly..

Rleepac ... Sorry about the pain.. My Hubby has been diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis just a few months ago.. Can take time to get a diagnosed.. It doesn't show in blood tests in about 30 percent of people, and ( of course) he was in that percentage.. but then had the xrays and MRI and there was no doubt.
Gma. Hope all goes well with your revision surgery.
