((((Shorfi)))) I just can't believe this. I was all stressed out about my follow up visit to the dermatologist to get my stitches out and get my biopsy results, but that seems so small now. I will be praying.

(((Shorfi)))—in your pocket. Wish it had been only your gallbladder. Prayers that treatment goes gently on you.

Gma, can you get to a major cancer center or university medical hospital? Is it feasible to get to a city like Portland, Boise, Reno or Spokane, or to a university town like Moscow (ID), Corvallis or Eugene? Maybe they could do the whole-breast US, which you could then take back to your care team. Or they could do a better job of explaining to your insurer why mammography is not a viable option so that you can get prior authorization for MRI. I suspect a lot of private practice doctors resent doing the paperwork required for prior auths and appeals of denials, because they can’t make as much money off them as even the relative pittance they’d get for the office visit for a second opinion. (My husband grumbles, but does them and hasn’t had a single prior auth denied; my PCP and MO are hospital-employed and on straight salary with no capitation, so paperwork may be boring but it doesn’t cost them. My PCP in fact is an enthusiastic user of EMR and cross-referencing different portals for patients using multiple health systems in order to coordinate care…and in many cases “connect the dots"). And local hospitals & clinics want to make back the cost of the imaging equipment they have, so if they had dropped a bundle on a 3D mammo machine, that’s probably a factor.

Shorfi, after having absorbed the situation a bit, I've got to say, I would highly recommend a second opinion. I've had a couple of coworkers who had family members with this diagnosis, and I know in the one case, going to a major metro cancer center made a huge difference in treatment options and outcome. I don't know where you are located, but I would recommend getting to an NCI or university affiliated hospital if you aren't already.

gma, try to find an ABUS ultrasound machine. It isn't that expensive, and they will ultrasound both breast areas completely.

    Hugs to all of you.

((Shorfi)) I'm glad you checked in with us so we can be in our pocket. Praying for you and DH.

I have an update on our dear Beppy. Her DH wants us to know that she is improving. The reason she was sleeping nearly all day was from Dilantin toxicity, not an effect of the radiation. Her levels are greatly improving and they are hoping that she will be back to normal within the next few weeks. Her DH knows that we worry about her.

I've got to run. Seems my son crashed into a tree. Yes, third car accident within less than a year. No more driving for him. No one will insure him. DH is pretty mad because our son crashed the vintage Corvette that they were restoring to sell.

Glad to hear Beppy is on the mend! (Those anti-seizure meds can be heavily sedating). Poppy, bummer about your DS’ vehicular misadventures. I’d been ragging Gordy to go back to driving school and get his license (his high school didn’t offer driver ed, which he took at a driving school the summer he was 16 but never renewed his learner’s permit or took the road test), but I guess I’d rather put up with Uber bills than worry about him behind the wheel. Shorfi, joining the second-opinion chorus.

Awesome news about Beppy - Thank you for the update Poppy. Not so awesome news about son... My mom did that two - we had to take the keys away from her. That was so hard..

I'm giving it a rest with the ultrasound thing. I'm just so stressed and tired of the musical doctors. Will talk to my primary in November. To top things off I go to the acupuncturist to relax - right- ??? Ok, so I go in yesterday and she finds a movable mass on my shoulder blade where I can't feel. It wasn't there 2 weeks ago when I went to her. It isn't like my sebaceous cyst so not sure what it is - yet another thing on my list to get checked.

Poppy, thank you SO MUCH, for trying (and getting!) ahold of Bud last night, and for finding out everything you did! You know how worried we all were, and I am once again just flabbergasted that DOCTORS COULD DO THIS to her! Do you know, thats like a WHOLE MONTH she lost, of being able to spend good quality time with her FAMILY???? I am angry, on her behalf. And freakin' so wary of doctors....She wasn't JUST sedated, it was more like, a COMA. It says right on the Dilantin page, that your blood must be monitored for proper levels while taking, someone dropped that ball

Shorfi, you don't know how much I would like you to also get a second opinion like Cubbie mentioned. We NEED you to be okay, and more than OK. Gentle hug for you, sweet lady.

Jan, I am so sorry, I owe you a PM. I read yours, and instead of responding right then, I got up from my computer, and came back to it the next day, forgetting all together that I needed to get back to you. My apologies, and thank you for thinking of me too.

Ducky! You are such a lucky woman, to get to hug both of those sweet and special ladies at the same time! What a day that must have been. I hope you stay strong for them.

Molly its good to see you here too

Poppy, thank you again, and I am so sorry. Is your son pretty shook up? I know he must feel so bad about it, they put so much work and love into that car, it just must be so disappointing to him to see the work of his own hands, wrecked. But, he is unscathed otherwise, right? Just a car, after all.

    Love you ALL, to bits!

This is for all of us - a clear sky and roads ahead - Love all of you ladies - don't know what I would do without you. Prayers are going out for everyone here in Crazy Town.

This is the moon the night before the end of the typhoon storm hit the NW. We are having heavy winds and rain. The backdrop material for the hummingbird pictures blew right off and it's looking pretty gray here in Roseburg. Thankfully, we haven't lost power yet, but are prepared in case it does.

Thanks for the kind words. I know the wrecked cars are just stuff. I'm thankful he isn't seriously hurt. He got a little banged up in this accident. His back is hurting and he has some scrapes. Three totaled cars in less than 8 months is really adding up! I'm not sure what we are doing about the Vette, which was towed to our driveway. It looks really bad. I am very worried that he will seriously hurt himself or someone else.

Pennysgal, ((Hugs)). Not right for your mom's friend to have a recurrence after 28 years.
