Blinkie, glad to hear your results have been good. In your pocket for your scan next week. In what part of the country was the retreat held? We don't have anything like that around here.
Iris, sounds like things are finally moving forward, and you've got the right people.
I've got labs in the morning, then a checkup with my GP on Wednesday morning. Then MO checkup next week. I haven't been sleeping much. These appointments stress me out, but I don't have to tell you gals what it's like.

I am truly, suddenly in CrazyTown. Bob just called (his cell signal was breaking up) saying he was just in a bizarre accident on Lake Shore Drive. He was heading north when just north of the Michigan Ave. offramp when suddenly from out of nowhere a car “flew over" his car, clipping part of the right rear side, before landing upside down between the highway and the Lakefront Trail. There was nowhere for Bob to pull over, so he called 911, and managed to get his car to the N. Ave. exit, where he's waiting in the parking lot for the police to arrive. But that may take a very long time—he reports hearing sirens (ambulances, police, fire trucks?) back south to where the other car flipped, so I think the first responders have more pressing priorities than a dented fender and an emotionally shaken but physically OK driver half a mile north of the disaster. He says he's fine but very shaken—he describes seeing the car fly over him like it was one of the cows being hurled through the air in “Twister." He thinks his car may be safe to drive but might ask for a tow to the dealership just to be sure. He told me to stay put till he finds out what's what (and “where's where"). Wouldn't be surprised if they insisted on taking him to the ER at Northwestern or St. Joseph (he's situated midway between the two) just to make sure he's OK and has no internal injuries. (I worry that someone in severe shock might not realize they've been badly hurt, but I'm trying not to let my mind go there).
No news bulletins yet. I did check live traffic maps, and traffic at the accident scene is backed up for about a mile south. It's been very warm & windy since sunset, though (still near 80)—I wonder if that car got caught in a crosswind? Bob isn't even sure if it came from the northbound lanes or was thrown clear across from the southbound lanes.

The local ABC station’s online traffic map is reporting gapers’ blocks (aka rubberneckers) stretching from the site in both directions. Nothing on the TV right now—a windsurfer rescued on the lake off Evanston this afternoon, a multiple shooting on the S.Side just now (not far from Holy Cross Hosp., where Bob is on staff).

Hugs and prayers, Sandy. Hopefully Bob is fine.

Whew—Bob just walked in. The police came, took a report and told him he’d be ok to drive home but should have a body shop check out the car just in case something internal got damaged. I got the original details bass-ackwards—it was hard to understand him because the wind was messing with his cell signal.
He was driving in the middle northbound lane of Lake Shore Drive (US41, a limited-access highway) when all of a sudden he heard & felt an impact to the right rear of his car and next thing he knew a car was flying diagonally over his car from right rear to left front. It flew through the air, across the center divider (and planters) and landed upside down in the southbound lanes of the road. The cops told him the driver was probably drunk, high—or might possibly have been shot. (!) Police told him that traffic was stopped for a mile in either direction, but it was worse in the southbound lanes where the car came to rest. No info as to injuries or how many other cars were involved. Still no mention on any of the three local TV nor the news-radio websites—and I just heard the WBBM radio traffic report; it was unusually brief, they had a substitute reporter, and there was no mention of Lake Shore Drive at all.
He is amazed that such a major accident would cause such a small dent, when his previous one (hit a hospital parking garage wall at <5mph, not knowing that parking space didn’t have a curb) caused >$2000 of damage. But one thing worries me—he said the traction control came on briefly after impact and the car seemed to wobble (as if it was on ice or in slush) before driving normally again.
He’s on the phone right now with GEICO (he has to report it, so that our collision or the other guy’s insurance—if he has any and if he even survived—can cover it, and we don’t have a choice as to body shops). We might have to head to the body shop tomorrow. I’m not comfy with him driving his car until it can be looked at, and I’m not sure GEICO will even set anything up until the police call us with the accident report # (hopefully also faxing it). I might take him to Enterprise in the morning if GEICO drags their feet.
We can both use a drink right now.

The police officer just called with the accident report #. He pieced together the story for us: the driver of an older BMW lost control, struck the rear of Bob’s car (like an Olympic vaulter using the “horse” to go airborne), flew over it and two other northbound lanes, and came to rest upside down in the southbound lanes. Miraculously, the only injury was to a passenger, who suffered a bump on the head and is under observation for signs of concussion. (Roof was reinforced and the airbags deployed). The BMW’s driver was cited for speed too fast for conditions, reckless driving, and driving—uninsured--on a suspended license. No breathalyzer on-scene, and blood alcohol results (tested at the ER) are pending. No word as to whether other cars were able to avoid the BMW that “turned turtle.” The officer thinks it wouldn’t be safe for Bob to drive to the body shop in case there was damage to the axle or suspension—he says he should have GEICO give him a rental and a tow in the morning.
Limoncello shots out on the deck right now.

So glad he is safe ChiSandy! Crazy things happen - I had two semi truck wheels come bounce at me on the freeway once - Very close to killing me - My son who was 16 at the time decided he was never going to drive. He didn't until he was 19 years old.

Chisandy: EEK! Glad Bob's OK, but yeah--don't drive the car!

Of Crazy Town!

Thanks for the welcome GmaFoley.
Yep, I'm breathing! I decided I'm gonna go into this with a fresh do, so just made myself a hair appointment. Good thing I like hats, because I may become the crazy hat lady before it's all over with. I only have one cat and one dog, so don't qualify for crazy cat lady status.

InHim, welcome to CrazyTown!
Sandy, glad to hear Bob is OK, and so is the other driver. Scary stuff.
I went for my lab work today, and when I was going over my appointment schedule, they mentioned that I had my annual chest xray coming up next week as well. I wasn't expecting that already, I thought it would be in January. They said, "unless you want to do it today..." I said we might as well do it all, since I was already there. I'm in CrazyTown Central here now. It just caught me all off guard.

Cubbie, I do the exact same thing when they mention some test or appointment I wasn't anticipating. Maybe it's from going through so much already?
Sandy, That was some story. I'm glad Bob wasn't injured.
My son's back still hurts a bit from his accident, but he's improving. The Corvette is another story. We started taking it apart to see the extent of the damage.
Susan, Welcome to Crazy Town. Diagnosis, then straight to Chemoland is a lot for anyone to wrap their mind around. If you have questions, there are a lot of nice, helpful, experienced people here.

Susan , welcome to the crazies
I think stuff like hair, mani pedi, massage and any treat that makes life just easier to get around
Was feeling stinking, went to pick up groceries and got what I needed and home but very hot and stinking
Best solution was a nice shower so now smelling nicely of dove soap, it is the little things that helps get past the day

Welcome to the forum Susan.
Sandy so glad Bob wasn't hurt.
I feel so nervous on the roads. Doesn't matter how careful you are. You can't anticipate the actions of other drivers.
Poppy my hubby (who can drive anything) has always said that not everyone is cut out for driving. Maybe your son is one of those people. Hope his back is feeling better soon.

Susan, welcome to the sorority nobody wants to pledge. No rituals or dues necessary. We’re here for you. Definitely pamper yourself.
Smurfette, our son Gordy decided after one traumatic summer of private driving-school between grades 11 & 12 that he wasn’t even going to renew his learner’s permit, much less take the road test. He is a whiz at using public transit (in cities around the country and even Paris) and has both Uber and Lyft accounts. Bob’s parents told him from childhood that one shouldn’t drive unless they have a “driving personality.” He grew up on the eastern edge of Queens, three blocks from the closest bus line and 20 minutes from any trains, and his family was the only one on the block without a car or even a driveway for guests to park. (He found out decades later that his paternal grandfather had been hit walking in the street by a car that had failed to curb its wheels before being parked uphill, and decided cars were evil). He didn’t learn to drive until we’d been married 11 years (and had lived in Seattle before we moved here), and he had begun moonlighting in his second year as a cardiology fellow. The two hospitals were horribly inconvenient to public transit (if I didn’t drive him out to the SW side or way down to the far S. suburbs, he had to take several buses plus for the suburban hospital, a commuter train….which required an L train ride downtown to catch). So he finally signed up for lessons at the AAA-Chicago Motor Club, got his license and we bought a second car. He now puts five times the mileage on his car than I do on mine.

Bob got a rental this morning, and the tow truck driver picked up the car this afternoon. At first glance, it's hard to tell it was in an accident. But get closer and you can see the “creased" rear passenger door, the quarter panel separated from the fender, the toed-in right rear wheel….and the black smudges all over the right side of the rear bumper—which were from the tires of the flying BMW where it made contact, launching it into the air. Six inches lower and it’d have been Bob’s car that flipped.

Sandy, thank God Bob is okay! Lucy, thinking about you. I hope recovery is going well. I know how painful the first few days can be. Welcome Susan. Pull up a rocker on the porch and have a cup of tea with Ativan sprinkles.

Good morning all. Thanks much for the warm welcome!
Thought I'd say hi before heading out to have IV Port and Sentinel Node Biopsy done. Ugh, another bout of waiting for biopsy results, this time with a port in me. They said the biopsy results should come back in time for visit with main oncologist tomorrow afternoon.Meanwhile, I'll be waiting in Crazy Town.
Sandy, so glad to hear that Bob is okay!
I live in Arlington, Texas. At least one in three people here have something called Blinkeridis. That's the inability to use the turn signal when changing lanes in a vehicle. Matter of fact, I'm sure to spot a few on the way to the hospital this morning!

I him, best luck on test today,
Dang just hurting today but really want to try to hit the gym just for social and activity

Susan, “blinkeritis” is why Bob & I are glad his car has blind spot monitoring—so that he doesn’t change lanes when it’s unsafe, and can try to get out of the way of cars that do. Wish my Outback had it—it warns me when I’m out of my lane without signaling, but not vice versa. I have oversize side view mirrors, which do help. Best of luck on your SNB.

I gotta little crazy going...I see MO on Monday and on 10/22 it will be 3 years since my official diagnosis. I have ongoing shoulder problems, and now it feels like the pain has gotten worse under my shoulder blade and a little toward my side. I can't tell if it is muscle or rib, of course I've run the mental game of what cancer could this be!! weeeeee
I'm glad Shorfi has a plan and things are going in the right direction.
Sandy...glad your Bob is okay
I'm so bad at keeping up, so please don't take offense if I miss you. I love all of you here!!

Inhim, I am in your pocket. Tanga, I hope the pain is nothing.

Hello all. Been a while but that that someone cud shed some light. Retired to Florida. Been here only 3 weeks and went back home to NJ for hubby's 50th high school reunion and see all my doctors. Reunion was a blast! Had 6 doctor appts in 3 days!!! So the one that concerned me is the oncologist. Told her of side effects I am having from Exemestane: hot flashes, hair loss, insomnia, pain in hands, trigger finger, swelled fingers in AM, and slight left side hand, arm, and leg tremors. She said all are common side effects except for the tremors and seemed concerned. Also took a fall in the parking deck of the breast surgeon 4 days before which sent me for X-rays for my foot. Just a sprain and 2 bad skin burns on knee and elbow (reminded me of bruises as a kid falling off the bike) . As long as I was there, mentioned some slight dizziness now and then. Anyway, doc suggested going to a neurologist. Went off Extamestane mid Sept. and the doc said stay off another month to see if side effects go away. Then may go on Femara. She gave me an oncologist name and number in my new home area (Melbourne, Florida).
So the question is has anyone had body tremors as a side effect of cancer meds? Thanx for any info.

Nice to hear from you BeachLady! As far as SEs I couldn't tolerate any of the AIs they tried to give me but I didn't get tremors as such. Mine was more nervous agitation - twitch type SEs. I'm thinking someone else will chime in soon.

Drum roll please,,,,,
PET scan results are in = "No definite PET-CT evidence for distant metastatic disease" AND Sentinel Node biopsy results are also in,,,the node is CLEAR!!!!!! All I can say is Praise God!!!
Proud, Hope your not hurting today, my thoughts and prayers are with you.
Tanga, How well I know, the blasted what-if's that run through our minds are enough to drive us into Crazy Town. My heart is with you sister!
I'm with Tanga, if I miss anyone I don't mean to, I may be new here, but am already starting to love you all.
