Lucy, Hooray for good pathology report! I am so happy you are doing well. Keep up the restrictions and you should recover well. Your DH has a vested interest in your recovery Happy

Going off the radar for awhile—have to leave for Iowa City tomorrow and will be busy during my music conference through Sunday (may have to stay over Sun. night if it gets too late to drive home after my concert). Spent all evening trying to print out business cards & handbills (still need to cut the latter to postcard size—hope I can make the hotel’s business ctr. in time or locate my buried paper cutter before I hit the road), and still need to pack (incl. my meds, which is truly tedious) before going to bed. Didn’t help that I had to shop today for the Halloween candy in case I don’t get home till Monday. My Cubs got crushed tonight—probably because I bought the hats & t-shirts today.

RO called and says the fibrosis matches the pattern of my map, and is nothing to worry about.

Playing chase the doctor for a refill for a prescription. He wants me to take it and I am complying but it ispure heck when it comes to getting a refill for it. Has to be a 90 day supply or my insurance won't cover it or allow it to be filled. Will be out of that medication by the end of the week unless the doctor's office gets off their rumps.

Ok ladies, I need a little guidance here. My oncologists office called and wanted me to come in and see him and do the yearly labwork. I'm still upset about the royal runaround that he has put me through and now per suggestion of the radiologist wants me to have the mammogramm instead of an ultrasound. I told the gal that called I wasn't ready to make an appointment. I haven't gotten any new oncologist suggestions and he is the only one in town besides his partner. I really don't want to deal with him but what am I to do? It should be my last visit unless something is found on labs.

I can relate to doc run around, I am still dealing with do I have ms or not

It seems my old nuerosurgeon will not do any surgery as his nuer thinks it is ms

But the ms expert in nyc says no and wants to do a shunt and they were fine if my old surgeon wanted to do it

It seems i really will have to see the nyc guys and follow them

On a better note. I did 5 min on treadmill and an hour chair class as well

    Can we say tired?

GmaFoley, can you have your GP do the yearly labwork and checkup instead? Being 5 years out, if you don't have any special concerns, your GP could probably follow you. One of my relatives was offered the option to be followed by her GP at this point, but just prefers to continue to be followed by her oncologist. That way your labs get done, and you can talk to your GP again about your mammogram/ultrasound dilemma.

MO appointment went well this morning. The only problem is that my vitamin D is so low that my MO wants to me to take prescription vitamin D on top of regular over the counter calcium/vitamin D supplements. I'll have a baseline bone scan in January as well. It was my GP's nurse practitioner's idea to test vitamin D after I asked about calcium supplements, so I guess that shows it pays to ask questions.

Now off to schedule the colonoscopy...

Lucy, So glad you are doing well after your surgery! Congrats on the great pathology report!

Gma, I understand not wanting the mammogram. When I went in for my first follow up mammo, the tech looked carefully at all of my scars and said she wouldn't compress my breasts more than I could tolerate. She was very gentle with me. At this point in my recovery my breasts were extremely sore. Surprisingly, it didn't hurt much and was tolerable. After the mammo, I also had to have a US. Maybe they could be extra gentle with you, too. And then you have the US.

Poppy - Our mammogram techs in town don't know gentle. When I was having major nerve pain they just squashed them for all they were worth. Brought me to tears. Not going through that will my itty bitties.

Cubby - I see my GP in a couple of weeks - that is one reason I told the oncologist no. I am going to talk to her first.

Dear Crazies - I'm relieved to report that the PET scan results do not show anything worrisome. The bone spots are 'naturally occurring' - not mets. The lung nodules still look like teeny tiny dots that are normal in people who have lived in the Ohio River &/or Mississippi Valley.

The only weird result is that the armpit that received radiation looks odd. The word he used are "radiation changes" & "inflammation." They are going to have the radiation oncologist look at the scan results.

I really want to thank you all for being 'in my pocket' and sending hugs and encouragement. It definitely helps to feel I am not alone. I am grateful to you.

So glad for your good news, Blinkie!!!

And Lucy wow sounds like you're recovering in record time! Yay for supportive husband!!

In your pocket, Gma, over the ultrasound-or-mammogram problem. Hoping they will just do US --- which doesn't hurt --- you've suffered enough!

In you pocket, Cubbie2015, for that colonoscopy. Hoping it goes well and that your path results are clear --- like my colonoscopy path ---- I just found out yesterday, the oncologist phoned while I was going through airport security on my way to Chicago.....

.....which has horrible weather right now --- lucky you ChiSandy for escaping the city for the rest of the week! Boy, did I choose the wrong time to visit!

    Hugs to everybody here ((((((hugs)))))

yay Blinkie, so great to hear!

Cubbie, my MO has me on a once per week Rx Vitamin D pill also.

Tessu: sorry you aren't getting sunshine but I am sure with the World Series it will be a fun (if a bit crazy) time to be in Chicago!

    Hugs to all

Tessu, with that rain and the traffic it caused, it took me two hours to escape the city and three to get past the suburbs. Finally arrived in Iowa City after 7 hrs on the road--normally a 4-hr drive. Unless you have Series tickets, stay away from Wrigleyville (and a wide perimeter of Lakeview) this week. Think Mardi Gras and St. Patrick's day, but without the green beer, floats or beads. But the whole town will be celebrating so you can enjoy the games without the crowds and drunken frat boys. Have fun

    owww Gma!

Got inspired and dragged out my bread maker this morning. Going to make rolls and freeze them for Thanksgiving. It will be one less thing I will have to do that week.

gma oh dear, falling is my fear, hope you were able to get up. I have one of those life alert things, I have fallen and can't get up necklace things. Do you have one or at least someone in your house to HELP.

Hmmm, home made bread, i can almost smell it here, wonderfully

Was on the floor for a half hour. Crawled to get my phone. DH rescued me and took me to urgent care. That phrase, I've fallen and can't get up isn't funny anymore.. That is what I said to DH when I phoned him..

gma, maybe you should get one of the rescue necklaces. I have one. I have not needed it but it gives me a sense of security. Mine has a necklace that is an in home alert and a thingie for when I go,out that tracks me. Also that gave me a thingie that is in my shower that is a help button

    Please think on it dear

Dang, the computer ate my post! Sheesh. I don't have time to re-type it all!

Gma, Hope you recover quickly from your fall. I wouldn't want a mammo with the techs in your area either. I hope your GP is understanding and listens to what you have to say. ((Hugs))

GMA ..Hope your recovering well. !!!

Mommy ..How did your bread rolls turn out. ??? It's so good to organise what you can early ..saves lots of stress on the day ..

Poppy ..ugh ..I just hate it when I loose my post too ..happens to me quite a bit cause I usually post from my phone while I'm still in bed ..I can.never find where it went. !!

I am recovering well pain wise after my hysterectomy..expect for feeling SO tired all time !! I get exhausted just doing nothing !! We were going through a furniture Shop a couple of days ago ..I kept eyeing off the beds ..Thinking I could just lay down for 5 minutes on it , pretending I wanted to buy it 🙂

Hope you are all going well .

The rolls turned out great. Put a little cinnamon in with the rest of the ingredients before the dough got mixed. Hubby loves them like that
