Hi everyone, just checking in.
I had round #26 rads this morning with just 2 more to go! It took a lot longer than usual so I asked what the deal was? RO said he's doing 3 boosts just to be on the safe side?? At this point I'm yeah whatever.I asked him if he remembered I had DBMX and not lumpectomy? We both laughed, it's become our "inside joke". I'm really, really sore tonight. RO said I've done a great job with my skin care regimen and it's not as bad as he thought it would be this week. He'll see me in 3 weeks for a skin check. What am I going to do with all my free time with not running to a clinic of some sort? Oh yeah, get back to life! I hope! Back to reading, taking names, notes and catching up!
Love and hugs to All!

Iris, what a joke! You waited longer than I would have. After 30 mins I ask if there's a hold up and what the hold up is? Drs tick me off! It's okay to waste our time but don't you dare waste theirs. Some people's kids

WenchLori: yeah, that life thing. Trust me, it's nice to have one again.
Proudtospin: another vote for 'you're way more patient than I would have been'.

WenchLori - Glad to hear from you again. Have been wondering how you are doing since you wrote about underarm skin issues. You are almost there! Hugs!

Just checking in before my surgery tomorrow. Dreading it because I've had some bad experiences with anesthesia. Hope it all goes smoothly. I have some good news. My thyroid biopsy results are benign.

Fantastic on the thyroid Poppy. Hope all goes well tomorrow.

PoppyK, great news about the thyroid biopsy. In your pocket tomorrow. Iris glad no mouth sores but sorry about the appointment. Lori, glad you are at the end of the radiation. It hit me that for the first time in 21 months I'm not waiting for the next surgery. Did someone say a life?? Sounds good to me!

Molly, thank you. Happy Birthday! How are you feeling? Sending more prayers for smooth sailing!
Queenmamacat, I'm so looking forward to having a life again! I'm not sure how to act once it starts!
bikermama, we're all still here! I think we've all been taking in the healing that Spring brings to us. I'm worried about my next mammo and it's several months away. I'm hoping it's normal to be anxious about such things.
Iris, I'll be praying everything goes well with all of your fus. I've got 6 scheduled in April and not sure how many more will be scheduled from here. UGH I'm glad you aren't having any mouth issues and hoping it stays that way!
GmaFoley, sending prayers your insurance comes through for you. With everything else on your plate you don't need them adding to it!
Celia, thank you! Just today and tomorrow and I'm done! Yay! My DH will be escorting me to my last 2 treatments. I've started taking meds for the pain and he doesn't want me having a wreck this close to finishing. Smart man 😊
Poppy, wonderful news on your thyroid biopsy! I'll be in your pocket also tomorrow!
Healing hugs to All!

I did that once, Iris! I had waited close to an hour and a half for an appointment to see my gynecologist at my tx center, alone and cold in a thin gown. So finally I said fts, and started getting dressed. I was so angry- my time is valuable too! And he says, don't you want to get examined? Of course, by that time, I didn't want him to touch me! So days later I picked up his clinic notes , and saw where he wrote that the patient refused to be examined! Yeah well technically asshole, but how come you didn't tell them the part about where you were so late getting in to see me, and note my angry tears? I bet he billed my insurance company for two hours, altho the actual time we spent in the same room was more like 4 minutes.

I am writing from my nieces ipad in sacramento, where it's a big disgusting mess, as far as my mother is concerned. And my dysfunctional family. Its a long and ugly story, and I should probably turn it into a novel, and develop the screenplay. Way more fun than " Running with Scissors". Yeah.
Miss you guys.

I went to see an Orthopoedic doctor once about a bad back.....waited close to 2 hours in the office to be seen.....asked a few times..."Is he even back there".........kept saying Yes.........so finally I got to see him whcih was about 10 minutes...looked up and down my back said "I don't see a problem"........I said "ok", and walked out.............
When I got to the desk the woman said that is $250.00.....at that time my insurance did not cover Dr. office visits........I took out ;my check book.......wrote a check for her, handed it to her and was leaving.......she said......"excuse me you wrote this check for $30.00............I said......that is payment for the 10 minutes he saw me.......that is what I lost by having to leave work early...........my time is as valuable as his........and that is what that visit was worth............never heard from them again.....0 -
Tomboy ..So sorry to hear about your mum and family ...I don't blame you being angry and not letting the doctor examine you after waiting all that time . 😈 My doctors always run late , and never ,ever , apologize..
Ducky ..HaHa ..love your story !!!! I wish you had a photo of the receptionists face when she saw your cheque for 30 dollars ..HaHa 😃
Iris ..In your pocket for you onco appointment ..I hope she doesn't run late !!!
Poppy ...Thinking of you .

Know what the latest articles (IIRC, in the NEJM) say is the most common cause of breast cancer and cancer in general? Random spontaneous genetic mutations that very occasionally occur when a normal cell divides—in other words…shit happens.

Hi, everyone. I'm still reading along, although I've been feeling too low to post. Last week I had a little bump removed from my upper lip, below my nose, because it was bugging me, although my dermatologist PA assured me it was not that noticeable. I got a call today and it is basal cell skin cancer, so I will be having Mohs surgery in April. I know this isn't supposed to be that big a deal, but I'm just overwhelmed. Guess it brings back bad memories. And it looks like I'll be meeting my max out of pocket three years in a row.
The psychologist meeting at the University today was really good, despite the fact that I got derailed by the call from the dermatologist. He really understood what I was going through. He's concerned about the distance I would have to travel to work with him though, so he is going to ask around his contacts and see if he can find somebody local to refer me to.

I can't remember what doctor I was at once but they FORGOT about me. I can almost imagine them closing the office with me still in the exam room. I did get lots of apologies. Tomboy, you are very strong. I can't imagine how hard all of this is. Duckyb, great story. Iris, you have good reason not to travel with that one. (((cubbie)))
Sandy I forgot to mention how much I liked your bathing suit story and I am still chuckling at duckyb and the water slide.

Molly, sorry the wishes are belated, as I am traveling, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!
Yeah for good news Poppy and hope the surgery goes well.
Tomboy, can I play a bit part in the movie of your book? Take care of yourself. You can do this.
Cubbie, so sorry to hear about the bad bump. Glad you have support, good idea to find some closer to home.
And hugs to all of you! Back home next week..

Hi Everybody,
I read all of the posts, and want to reply to all of them, but post-surgery... I'm extra groggy and slow. Things went smoothly with my surgery yesterday. I have a confession. Prior to my thyroid biopsy, I took an Ativan, which did nothing for me. So yesterday, I took 2 Ativans. Boy was I calm. After the needle localization and iv placement, I napped off and on until surgery. Thankfully, they were able to remove all three area of calicification through one incision. Anyway, no nausea and the pain is manageable so far. The results will be ready in a week. My BS will be out of town, but he told his office to give me the results. I'll follow with him in 2 weeks.
Happy birthday, Molly! I hope you received all of the love and blessings you deserve.
Gma, I love the dancing fur ball! I have three guinea pigs and love all furry animals.
Tomboy, Sending love and good thoughts your way. Families can be such pains in the ass.... at least mine can.
Iris, That "friend" is a mean girl. I hate that she said that. Maybe she's insecure and wants to feel like cancer couldn't happen to her. I also worked around chemicals for my job. In the back of my head, I wonder if that contributed. I think it normal to wonder how we ended up with cancer, because then we can make changes to prevent cancer. As ChiSandy wrote, it's gene mutations and not much we can control with that.
Cubbie, So sorry your bump wasn't just a bump. My DH had Morhs surgery on the top of his head. The beauty of the surgery is that they ensure they remove all of the cancer during the surgery. I hope you get excellent results... and once you're healed, you can put it behind you.
If a doctor keeps my DH waiting too long, he reminds the office staff that his time is valuable, too. One time he told them that he makes so many $ an hour, and since he has been waiting so long, will be subtracting that amount of money from what he pays the doctor. Sounds quite similar to Ducky's system. Currently, my DH is dealing with our insurance company. Since they were not able to complete my stereotactic biopsy, I warned my DH to watch our insurance bill to see how we were charged. Yep, $400 for the physical marker that they didn't place. Not to mention all of the needles and so on that we never opened. All they did was keep squishing my poor boob in different ways. Each time, the computer told them that the area was too close to the skin for a biopsy. I don't mind paying for what was done, but don't want to pay for things that didn't happen.
Thanks to all of the kind thoughts and words yesterday. It really means a lot to me. I had better post before this disappears.

We have had a huge cyclone come across north of us a few days ago , and we have spent the last 2 days house bound because of the huge deluge of rain it dumped her and horrific winds as it was downgraded but moved south down the coast to us ..Our schools were shut for 2 days , and everyone told not to go to work yesterday ..I feel so sorry for the people up north who lived where the cyclone crossed ..

glad you are safe, Lucy. PoppyK, so glad it's over and you took advantage of the Ativan in the CT medicine chest. Iris, we will take any good news! Back to work on Monday. PS says as long as I agree to continue to not lift or do anything strenuous.
