Rainny- Thanks! ok I have fresh mint and basil. I wish I had some fresh tarragon. Love that with veg. Especially carrots.

Next year I'm going to better purpose my green house (which I'm now not giving away) to include LOTS OF HERBS. Frankly, I can't eat all the tomatoes the previous owner planted.

Well you know I have lemons haha. Balsamic: did someone say obsessed?

This day keeps getting better! Just received surprise bling from my bro who just returned from Italy. So sweet of him to think of me so far away and realize my NEED for dangly earrings will last for some time into the future haha.

Thank you each and every one for the posts of encouragement! Felt better today. Even though I don't have a lot of hair yet, went for a haircut to shape things up. Boy was it nice getting pampered. DH said how did it take so long to cut so little? my dog Chloe got groomed too! We are all spiffed up!

What fine looking women we have here on our Crazy Town thread! Great pictures!! Thanks for sharing them.

Chloesmom, you have great coverage and look good with short hair. I bet your hair will grow quickly!! Chloe is so cute and reminds me of one of my sisters dogs.

Katy, I bet your Indian dishes turn out great. I can't wait to see a picture of your first creation. The earrings look wonderful on you. So nice of your brother to think of you. You must REALLY love balsamic vinegar!! haha

I guess I should try and get something done around here. My butt seems to be molded and stuck to my chair. I think I may

be suffering from chairstickitis. There is a new word for you Tomboy. You have my permission to use it ANYTIME! haha

Q-oh yes. Pre test and post test actually.

The bright yellow color is known to stimulate certain cells in the brain allowing circumnavigation of CT arteries.

Love the pics! You look great, Chloesmom, and so does Chloe, but indeed tired!

it was too hot for soup tonight, or Indian, so I did this:

    image

Fresh herbs were mint and cilantro. Couldn't find the shallot (and I KNOW it's in there), so garlic, olive oil and lemon. Shaved Parmesan on top. Mint, lemon and cheese were added on the plate. Best squash I ever ate! Thanks Rainny! And kept the soup recipe Sula, for a cooler day. Thank you also.

if i could eat summer food all year, but have the cooler weather of the other seasons for exercise, I think I would be a LOT healthier!!!

And the earrings. And the squash.

    Chairstickitis....wow. Just wow.

    Q- maybe not. Good point.

Kathy- yes Limoncello is an Italian aperitif, seldom seen in this country in my own experience. I keep my homemade brew in little bottles, and always keep one in the freezer for immediate serving if I start swerving towards CTown.

Best enjoyed on the rocks, over ice cream or fresh berries, or simple, like this:

    image

I had to pour myself one in order to demonstrate properly. Too bad.

Also have a Chinese Crested Powderpuff Devin Not so smart, but so veryaffectionate Mr Love. When I was on chemo and post surgery he wouldn't leave my lap as you can see in this photo.image

oh dear Chloe looks so comfie and I am sure she is very spoiled!

when my sister was still married, she wanted a dog and her idiot husband said now since no one will care for it. Well he was out of the house not a week when little Maggie the dog came to home. A week or so later, Jazz the cat arrived and not long later Steve the dog.

All are pampered and well cared for. Husband is gone!

Chloe is adorable. Thank you! There are studies about how petting a fuzzy animal can lower blood pressure and reduce stress. I have to live vicariously in that department because of allergies (a.k.a. sneezing cancer). But I do love them. The animals. Not the sneezing.

Looks as if you were having a yellow food/drink moment, Katy. So gorgeous.

Herceptin/Perjeta later this morning, then lunch with a friend. No chemo before surgery, so no pre-meds. Woo-hoo!

Ok Crazies this thread is not just fast it's prolific. I'm just dipping in for a quick hello and just referencing the last page or so, but thinking of all of you!

Slow hope your flares are easing up; is it from the RA? Comfrey leaf , Nettle or Oatstraw infusions are wonderful for joints and smooth muscle. Infusions are different than tea. You put an ounce of dried herb in a quart jar and pour boiling water to fill the jar. Civer the jar and let it steep for 4-12 hours. Strain and drink 2-3 cups daily.

Sula I can't believe anyone would suggest senna! That is a beast. Yellow dock tincture is what one wants on these occasions.

QMC I am kind of with you on questioning if summer food would taste as good in the cooler months… I actually love autumn winter veg. In fact I braised kale with butternut squash for dinner last night.

Chloe, great hair and such sweet dogs

Octo, hope you are still feeling good and that your DH pulled off dinner for you.

Katy, the produce is fantastic and so are those earrings. And the limoncello! Amazing. Looks like you've got a great stash of spices as well. I make our vinegar, from all the red wine we don't finish. Also elderberry elixirs for winter immunity. Re all those tomatoes, you could make conserva so you have your own stash of 'tomato paste' on hand.

I'm home from my gig. Resting and making bone broth and finally finishing my next blog post are on my agenda for this weekend. I am certain to be in and out of CT as my first 'treatment ' is Monday at 8 am.

    Love all you crazies

yese Rainny, there was a lot of yellow. Even the countertops! But they are old and I am changing them out for white ceramic/porcelain tile and a little glass bling backsplash. Yellow is a hard color to work around on a daily basis.

Gaia: it's all good, but I think sometimes the transitory/ephemeral component is what makes some things so delicious. The first (local) strawberry of the season, eaten warm in the dusty gravelled parking lot of the fruit stand. The first sip of a cooling (alcoholic) drink I had in an overheated bistro in Chicago's summer: gin/tonic/lemon juice/basil.

Chloesmom: poodle/border collie cross? I'd think that "intelligent" wouldn't even begin to cover that!

yep, in your pocket too Gaia...thinking of you! Love and hugs coming your way.

Still feeling pretty darn good today, Day two post C/T, other than having to breathe smoky air getting more smoky by the minute from both the Tenaya Fire (North rim of Yosemite) and the Rough Fire (east of Fresno). Smoke tends to go south so I think it is the Tenaya fire that is really getting us...

Seriously considering a trip to the oceanside this weekend if I can convince hubby it is too smoky to putter in the garden. Don't want to worry that my red eyes are turning into eye cancer..besides, an octo(pus) has to get back to her natural environment now and then to breathe, right? :-)

    Love you all, crazies.

    Good Morning Crazies!!

Katy, The dish you created with the squash looks simple, clean and inviting. I do love summer food, but I also love fall food. Soups and stews when the weather is starting to turn....there's nothing like it. We get some cold nights where I live in the fall, and I love to walk the neighborhood and see all the smoke from the fireplaces. I also love getting a glimpse into homes. I know that sounds weird, but I love seeing how others decorate their homes. I LOVE cozy homes. Yep....one of my favorite words....COZY. Love hearing about your stash of homemade brews!! I agree....you can't really demonstrate without tasting!! hahaha

Rain, all my made up words seems to end in itis these days. haha Enjoy your lunch with your friend!! YAY for Herceptin/Perjeta ONLY infusion!!

Chloesmom, Such a great photo of Chloe snuggling with you!! They always know when we aren't feeling well. Elbow cancer....hahahahahaha....I have inside elbow cancer!! I hope the PT continues to loosen you up. I will start my PT as soon as I'm done with all the testing and dr. visits. I really hope they can help my range of motion.

PTS, That is so funny about your sister getting pets as soon as her DH was gone. Good for her!!! I'm glad you're sticking with the PT. It seems to really be helping you!

Gaia, Yes, it is from the RA. I went into remission during chemo, but once I was finished with treatment, it came back with a vengeance. I wrote down all the things you suggested and will research. Thank you for the suggestions. We will all be in your pocket on Monday!! I can't remember if you got a port or not? I went through all of my treatment (including one year of Herceptin) without a port. I will give you two good tips if you don't have a port. Make sure you're well hydrated before your infusion, and have them warm up your vein before they stick you. Those two things saved my veins throughout treatment.

Octogirl, Happy to hear you're still feeling good!! That is awesome news. Sorry to hear about the ongoing fires. The exercise thread girls stayed in Oceanside when they came to visit in June. My favorite spot is at the end of the harbor side. My DH and I used to camp there frequently. We spent many nights sitting in our MH with a glass of wine, and watching the beautiful sunset. I miss those days.

This picture made me smile this morning. I wanted to share it with you all. I hope it makes you all smile too!!

    Love to all!!

    It's FRIDAY!! WooooHOOOO!!

Queen, you're going to make us all have gin & tonic tonight.

Gaia, for what it's worth, I've done all my chemo/herceptin/perjeta so far without a port. Sometimes the chemo nurses wish I had one, but at least so far, so good.

Today marks a non-crazy milestone, and I have breast cancer to thank for it. Crazy, eh? It's the first time since 9/11 that I just forgot about the anniversary. I was walking by the fire station this morning, and I saw the lot of them in dress uniforms, apparently just back from the ceremony at Ground Zero. It took me a minute to remember what day this was and why they were dressed that way. Always before, between the media coverage and the blue lights, I've been very aware of what date this was. Nothing like a major personal distraction!

    Have a delightful evening, crazies!

Yes. I'm cruel that way. But I am not alone in this--(tone of whiny little kid) Jacbirdie started it! all that limoncello.

(I'd have forgotten about the 9/11 anniversary too, if I hadn't heard an NPR report about the NY stock exchange opening.)
