octogirl- Fantastic news. Obviously downsizing wasn't meant to be. What a nice idea having a space just for the grandkids. Hopefully the offer on your "new" house will be accepted.

octo, sounds great. I remember my sister when she decided to downsize, not to be but her new place is nice, seems hard to find smaller places

Tummy is not happy, planned on taking imodium but ate bfast and directions say 2 hours after a meal, dumbo should have read instructions.first, oh well

Octo, congrats on finding the new house. Don't feel too bad about having too much room: a guest room is a luxury many people wish they had (instead of putting guests on couches or even the floor). And if you have a hobby--sewing, painting, sculpture, even recording--you now have dedicated space for it.

Iris, when you gotta go, you gotta go--and when you don't wanna go, you do what you have to. I never followed the Imodium directions, because who takes that stuff until they actually acutely need it? It's not expensive, and it'll kick in when it kicks in (and eventually, always does--in my case, it's always on the last day of a vacation, even the morning of our flight home. Bless SW for not charging to cancel or postpone a flight, and the hotels for letting us stay an extra day).

well, I am sorry to report they took another higher offer on the house... Bidding wars are no fun. Oh well, we will find the right place, sooner or later...

octogirl-Oh no! How disappointing for you. There's another house out there even more perfect than this one. The housing market in my area has significantly slowed down during the past 6 months. Your housing market appears to be very competitive. Hopefully the next perfect house you find there will be no other offers. Therefore no bidding war.

Crazymaking end of semester for me (ended up withdrawing from Statistics during exam week because it was only then I realized there was no way I could pass the class) Unfortunately, it's a class I have to take to get a business degree....so back I go in spring.

Yes, this does tie loosely back to CrazyTown, because I'd meant to tell Our Beloved List Originator that I was going to carry through with getting a Business associate's degree and possibly a computer degree as well. Sigh. Never wait to tell people things just because you think they're too preoccupied with their lives.

Lucy: (teasing) I've never cared for wrapping my parents either. They wiggle and protest so much!

Presents run a distant second. I usually resort to paper bags or, in the case of books for my husband, I go find a book of mine of approximately the same size then have HIM set up the wrapping, leaving the end open. Slide mine out, his in, hey presto a neatly wrapped package.

Teatime is fine if all you have is tea. But, no, the goodies are just too good to resist.

Shopping isn't as stressful as wrapping (the cats keep trying to "help"), which in turn is only slightly more stressful than determining who gets which funny card. Have only two more things to buy: a bottle of premium Japanese whiskey for our friends who are into the stuff (no surprise, as they're also huge anime and manga fans); and a copy of Michelle Obama's autobiography for our housekeeper (I didn't buy it last night because we gave her money, but Bob thinks we should get it for her anyway and give it to her when she returns on Wed.).

chisandy- I just finished reading Michelle Obama's new book. I enjoyed it immensely. Tonight my thoughts are with RBG for speedy recovery. She is one tough lady.

Amen to that. MSNBC's Katy Tur reported they were on the same DCA-LGA flight this morning, and RBG not only ordered a drink but worked on SCOTUS business the whole time. She didn't let on why she was flying to NY. Just before entering the hospital, she joined the majority (5-4, Roberts joining the liberals) in denying cert: refusing to overturn the appellate ruling against Trump's ban on asylum petitions from undocumented immigrants. All her lung lesions were in situ and there was no spread to any other organs. One very tough lady!!!! (Every time I'm tempted to feel too lazy to want to go to early morning P.T., I'll think of her).

Chisandy- I'm with you. I've always had tremendous admiration and respect 4 RBG . She's not only tough she's compassionate and kind. I love her workout shirt which has the slogan Super Diva plastered on the front.

morning! Tummy is what it is.

My family just left, amazing but their flight from. Boston yesterday was on time! My pal who runs limo companay picked them up and i was stunned how smoothly all went. We went out to a italian joint, we all ate way too much food,, all in all it was a very nice trip. I ate way too much so now paying the price but so worth it.

    Great to see my family

Amen, Lucy! And glad you had a great time with your family, Iris!

RBG's lung lesions were described as "nodules," not "tumors;" and the lobe containing them was removed completely. Fingers crossed. (This is not the thread to mention what I think of her purported eventual replacement, "Judge" Jeanine Pirro--the one who let Robert Durst get away when she was Nassau County D.A.).

Just like my onco very carefully explained to me that grade three DCIS is not cancer. Thirty-two degrees F. is not freezing. Do you want to go out without a coat in thirty-two degrees for two hours? Judges know all about semantics, as do doctors. And we know that RBG is not terminally ill, and is more healthy than most 85-year-olds. Sixty-three words to explore a simple concept.
