Iris-how are you feeling?
Octo-Renos never seem to end. I want to rip out everything in my small bathroom and turn it into a barrier-free bathroom. At 84 my mother remains extremely active but does have some issues with climbing into my high bathtub. So when she visits I want to keep her safe. My only fear is once they start ripping things out in the bathroom ; they will discover my copper pipes from the 1930s ,electrical that has to be updated and who knows what else is lurking behind those walls and floors. Enjoy your Renovations and your new home.

Hello everyone. This is my first post to site. First , I send good vibes for all. Since Dec. 19 2018, I have learned waiting for tests is the hardest part. I was wondering if anyone here has had a her 2 borderline positive results. I have fantastic Doctors . They were going to do chemo first but after a week of doing more testing, pet scan, they decided surgery first. Er an pr positive is definite. Now surgery complete, still waiting on final her2 fish test . Still not in. I believe early stage 1a no nodes but my doc is going to schedule port Friday the 8th. Maybe it will be negative then approach is oncotype test. Of course I am worried about the wait since i hear the word aggressive. Is this time span a normal amount of time? Anyone else get borderline her 2positive? Plus2. 2 small tumors on one side. I have been reading on this site and what a group of incredible people. Amazing. Life is good. Hard but good! Adjust to change, do what you must, one day at a time. Thanks for being here.

Twelvestrin....Welcome to our Crazytown group .Pull up a chair , come and chat anytime you need...You're right ..the waiting is the hardest part of all ..How much longer do they think before you will have your HER results ? It's so good you have such a good team of doctors ..
Iris ..so glad the new med is kinder to you ..haha..you must of wondered what the band-aids were at first !
Hugs to all

Hi, fellow pickin' sister! Why are they talking about a port with Stage IA, unless your HER2 comes back + (targeted therapy requires chemo first)? Did they do OncotypeDX yet? If you won't be getting chemo, you shouldn't have to be subjected to the ordeal of port placement.

Thanks you guys! Yes, my docs were in heavy discussion about the whole border line her 2 test. It was more like a low positive. A plus 2.
Surgeon and oncologist both in agreement to do surgery first. This is 3rd her 2 test. First was inconclusive second ( fish) was +2 but small tumors. Mixed ductal and lobular. Node biopsy neg but surgeon was not liking such a small grab on node. I like her she's picky. She eased my mind with pet scan while waiting for surgery. If test comes out negative, cancel port surgery and get oncotype test. She wanted to be ready if test positive. She feels it willbe positive but she said, we are educated guessers sometimes. She wants final proof. Thank you guys for being here. Really.. What a Rollercoaster ride since Christmas..
Peace,
Dorene aka Twelvestring60

chisandy-Each situation is different. I had surgery first then Chemo and targeted therapies. I do agree thst targeted therapies usually start prior to surgery. I was very happy to have the surgery first. The negative is I have no definitive way of knowing if the chemo worked. I will KNOW if there is a reoccurence. I had clean margins post bmx. Have a great weekend. I have a 5k this evening. Today a luncheon and a play. Next Saturday is my 49 flight stair climb for tge American Lung Asso.

Jo..Wow ..just saw your post ! You ARE energetic !!!

lucy- I just completed my 5K. Later on tonight I'm going to work out on the balance ball. I don't know how energetic I am but I've exercised my whole adult life. I don't know any other way. I'm also an occupational therapist so I have to be in top shape for my clients. There are days I have to push myself to get my butt moving but I do it. Breast cancer and tx us one heckuva roller coaster ride. I have never liked rides. Fear and nausea.

Thank you, Lucy. Some days are bumper than others but the bumps are smaller than this time last year!

Doreen, we'll have to get together for a “guitar pull," as my Nashville friends call a song circle. I play mostly 6-stringers and mountain dulcimers, but I do have a couple of 12s (a Taylor 450 and a Martin D-12-20 slothead). Do you perform &/or write too?
0 -
Oh that's sound awesome! I wish I could write. I tend to play along with the radio or some picking parties! I used to have a bunch of guitars but a fire got a lot of the cool ones.. But, I love and play all kinds of music. Rocker but, blues, folk what ever group plays. When I was younger played in bands and lots of heart, led zepp, pink Floyd, blue grass.. Just LOVE music. I wish I was original.. have to try again. I love trying the hard stuff on a 12 string...
Did alot of music for the girl scouts of America. Killer at a campfire man...I would love to learn your Original music. Just love it!
Peace,
Dorene

Yay, Dorene--now there's a good chance you'll be able to skip chemo. Here's hoping for a low OncotypeDX score!

This will be the 4th her2 test. It makes me wonder.. start at equivocal, then borderline (plus 2) then negative. So I’m thinking , well I dont know what im thinking. Im going with the best possible outcome. Boy everyone, Feels like a mental capacity test.. Who ever thought up crazy town for this topic ..yep.

Hi all: just checking in....our pre-move renovations on our new house are proceeding nicely, and I will be doing a lot of packing this weekend. It's a bit overwhelming but I can't wait to get in there!
I finally found a MO here in New Mexico, and my first appointment with her is in about two weeks. Old MO in CA sent over all the records, and I am sure it will be fine, but still, I am trying not to drive myself into Crazytown, worrying if she will want to run new tests.....I am due for a mammogram so I imagine she will order that...I really appreciated my old MO's overall approach to care, even though I clashed with at least one of his staff....fingers crossed that the new one works out and that all goes smoothly!

I had a great day. I find 38 flights of stairs this morning for the American Lung Association. It was a lot of fun. When I arrive home from work this evening I had a letter from my hospital. They are no longer accepting my insurance. My cancer treatments are finished but I really don't want to give up my oncologist. I also don't want to switch to another facility. I am very happy with Mount Sinai Medical Center and would prefer to stay there. I'm going to call my insurance company on Monday but I think my options are limited. My insurance is through Obamacare. I am very grateful to have health insurance through Obamacare. Even though I was extremely healthy I couldn't purchase insurance on the open market. The insurance reps said they prefer not to ensure women from the age of 40 through 60. I haven't lost my insurance just my very well-liked oncologist and facility. I am not going to let it ruin my weekend. I had a great day . I'm going to relax now and play with the dogs. I will deal with this insurance nonsense on Monday. Have a great weekend one and all

that is really too bad, Jo! Hoping you can find a solution that works!

octogirl- I looked at my letter again this morning. It is the insurance company that refuses to renew their contract with Mount Sinai Medical Center. So tomorrow morning I will be on the phone with my insurance company. Whatever happens I will have to deal with it. Have a great day. Im working today.
