You know ..it's so lovely to have some ordinary chit -chat on the thread ...even if did happen by accident :-) That's how this thread used to be ..we could share our worries and be supported ..but still just talk about every day things .

    Hugs to all

I tried like crazy to find a darning egg a couple of years ago so I could mend some knits. Ended up settling for s ping-pong ball taped to a chopstick.

Sandy, that was creative! I know what a darning egg is but haven't seen one in years. Decades ago I wanted to knit an afghan pattern that called for huge needles. DH made them for me out of dowel rod, not sure my arthritis would let me use them now. However we still have and use the afghan. One of the dogs has claimed it as his own, but he will share.

I'm useless with a needle and thread ..Luckily Hubby's parents live 10 minutes away , and he goes to his Mum if he needs any darning done !

i think i actually have one of those darning eggs, my mom was a wiz at reweaving the end of a sock! Not saying i could do it. I was very into sewing for years, even got wildly expensive computerized embroidery machine, crazy thought!

Hello ladies - I am new here but love the name of the thread. Scream therapy is great did it on the highway during rush hour so of course traffic was just stopped and I decided to vent my frustration with a major screaming fit. Problem was didn't realise my window was open. Poor people beside me thought that I was a crazy person and quickly closed their window. So crazy town seemed to be the place to post.

My Oma (aka grandmother) had one and share it with my mom and me (she lived with us and until she passed), Oma gave me (at 14 ) a Singer sewing machine in a cabinet, I still have it, along with 2 other sewing machines, one is a serger.....long before Oma died I became an avid sewer....sewing formals for friends, wedding party dresses, my own clothing and formals, quilts, baby blankets, RYA rug wall hangings

I have a bedroom which is my sewing room and dog crate room....I am down to 4 Boston Terrier as we lost one a few days short of 14 years old....a week and a half ago😥

    Mom got the darning egg.....

My mom died. My sisters got everything!

I still sew but not as much any more.....working on 2 memory foam cushions for my wheelchair/transporter, almost done, & also just started A red and black checked/plaid fleece throw, with red and black fringe on one end.....just prewashed it before I begin sewing & adding the fringe.

Between washing clothes, drying clothes, folding and putting stuff on hangers.....then hauling it all upstairs....with my bad back....it totally puts me in pain mode......have been waiting over a week for my orthopedic surgeon's assistant to schedule me for spinal injections...pending my insurances approval..which usually only taking a day or two.

Di1212- so sorry to hear your Boston Terrier passed. Had a Boston Terrier growing up. Her name was Molly. She was my baby. Hauling laundry up the stairs doesn't sound like a lot of fun. Your poor back.

Dunno who's still around, but I have an anti-crazy story that I hope will amuse some, and relieve others that there can be an end to the crazy "OMG I have 'smudge of chocolate' cancer" fears (we've all had them, trust me.

Story: at this point I'm four years out from diagnosis, with an appropriate number of NED mammograms (and one 'Er, we'd like to take a closer look at that' biopsy). This year's mammogram was just fine. At my followup exam by the medical oncologist. instead of flipping out about being examined yet again by yet another Strange Man*, I'm relaxed enough to attempt explaining "PunchBuggy**" to him as he's trying to examine me. My husband ended up whooping with laughter when I told him.

*Just a shout-out to my breast surgeon, my radiology oncologist, and my medical oncologist. All three men. All three capable of carrying on a conversation with a woman stripped to the waist while gazing ONLY at her face.

**PunchBuggy is one of those idiotically simple games created to amuse kids on long car rides: if you see a car with an out-of-state plate, you slug whomever's sitting next to you. My husband and I live in a tourist-driven town, so our specific rule is "Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, Illinois and Indiana plates Do Not Count". Otherwise we'd end up whopping each other the entire way down the main street of our town.

well, I have my routine mammogram and an ultrasound tomorrow...I think the MO here uses ultrasound also since there are no 3-D Mammogram machines in this town, but that is just a guess. Also schedule for a dexascan. starting to get a little anxious so wish me luck!

Hugs to Octo and Lucy--may all be well. Had my 18 month post surgery mammogram today and was told come back in a year-- no follow up ultrasound today and only if indicated from now on. Was anticipating that in 6 months. Experiencing multiple lumps and soreness in the operated breast and side-- consensus is radiation, the gift that keeps on giving!

Scar tissue, too, Beaverntx. The soreness and swelling will subside.

In your pocket for your imaging, Octo & Lucy! Here's to clear breasts and stable bones!

good wishes to you Lucy and Octo, definitely heres to clear mamo.

My section of nj got hit pretty hard with storm last night, significant number of folks witn power outages and lots of flooding but not my section of town so that is good.

There was an article on bc.org about how single folks deal with cancer. Think i have done most of the suggestions. In fact, peapod just dropped off my new shipment so plenty of drinks and such to keep me nourished.

Thanks for all of the good thoughts all!!

So far, so good...the dexa was fine, will get results in a week or so. The mammogram and ultra sound were mostly fine: I was wrong, they do have a 3D machine and the MO orders that and ultrasound both yearly just as standard procedure. I'm fine with that...anyway, the radiologist (who was a young, gorgeous woman dressed like my idea of a badass so of course I immediately liked her a lot) said she thought all looked fine, but she wanted to compare to last year's images before making a final proclamation that all was good, and of course my imaging spot in California hadn't sent them yet, despite two requests: they've finally responded and she should have them within a day or two to compare, and hopefully I won't have to think about it until next year (She will follow up to confirm but it was definitely comforting that her last words to me were, 'see you next year'.)....

That said, there was one bad moment that maybe you all could relate to: all of the staff, including the bone density scan technician, the ultrasound technician, front office staff and the radiologist, were lovely for my first time there...EXCEPT the Mammo tech. She never smiled, kept me standing next to the machine (no invite to sit down) while she filled out a form with standard questions that I had already been asked and that I thought had been entered into my file when I checked in, and she wasn't particularly nice during the procedure. But the worst came at the end. After finishing the mammo, instead of telling me I was done and giving me instructions as to next steps, she started cleaning the machine, and waited until she was done with the ENTIRE cleaning (while I am standing there, half dressed) to tell me that I was done and where to go for the next procedure (Mammo came first, before u/s and then dexa scan). I mean, WTF???!!! I know you have to clean the machine off between persons, but while I am standing there not sure if I was done and wondering where to go? I was not happy. Does that strike others as weird too? Should I say anything?

The only other issue was that I was surprised how much of a trigger the ultrasound was: my last MO didn't do them routinely, and the last one I had was at the time of diagnosis. I thought I was strong, but I started crying a bit...both tech and the Radiologist were supportive, which helped...

So, barring some unforeseen issue, I don't have to deal with all that for another year. Yay!

Hugs to Lucy for yours coming up, and to all of us. Thank you for letting me rant a bit.

    Love, Octogirl

Octo, that mammo tech is definitely not a "people person." Nothing personal, she probably doesn't interact with anyone. That's her problem.

Hi crazies, my apologies for not keeping up with you all. Work is horrible and stressful but I am getting by. I want to share how much I love my new MO. He's just so up to date and discusses everything with me. Anyway I asked him if I am on the 5 or 10 year plan for AI's. He said 5 should be enough. I am so relieved.

    Love to you all. ❤️

Molly, have you considered asking for the BCI test? I ask because my stats are similar to yours and my Oncotype was 12. However, my BCI came back with high risk of late recurrence and high benefit to continuing the antihormonal. You might want to ask your oncologist his reasoning for stopping at 5 years.
