Poppy,
We had a preview of Pepins birthday cake at our house tonight... Just a taste test... Super decadant chocolate!!
Here's some of the food. I did a Kerala dinner, all dishes from South India
Flourless dark chocolate mandarin orange cake... I suggested a square of gold leaf under the chocolate disc for the big night to make it pop a bit more.
Right now the dish washer is doing it's magic
Oops and one of the table

Sula/Kate- an amazing feast, as usual. I particularly LOVE the flowers.

Suladog, It's after midnight and now I'm hungry! Everything looks so wonderful. I haven't had very many Indian dishes. My oldest son's two best friends are of Indian heritage. I've eaten some foods prepared by these boys' moms. Delicious. They were careful not to make it too spicy. Flourless choc cake... decadent!

Sul.........have never had Indian dishes, or Thai, and the most Japanese food is 2 times at Hibachi, and I don't like teriyaki......... never had Greek food either....
Love (some) Italian food.......German, Irish, and with Jewish it is strictly Corned Beef Sandwich.........oh and lets not forget Chinese.........love Chinese, especially anything with Rice noodles.......LOL
However, any seafood is right up my ally.....mussles (yum)...Crab especially Spaghetti and Crabs......(be still my heart).........oysters, clams, shrimp, fish of any kind......love Branzini, Salmon, just about any kind of fish.....not crazy ab out Halibut.......and nothing like a good piece of Blue Fish, and Tilapia.....and who doesn't like Lobster in any form..........LOL...........then give me a good juciy thick Filet Mignon, and you have a happy gal,................

Hi Ladies......well the walk is over.........it was windy, but thank heavens no rain........very cool, but we all dressed warm........I managed to do the entire walk.........then went to get in the big car my SIL owns, slipped on the running board, and literally destroyed my already bad knee......tough walking today.....LOL clumsy ass........
Now on to Grayson......she was so happy to see the turnout for her....as I said it was for Shriner's Hospital which has done so much for her.......there were donations in her name to Shriner's, and she had the most......people who owned business's and friend of the business.......relatives and friend of theirs............people who knew about it from others about Grayson's story donated..some small amounts, many very large amounts........I was amazed and it was so heartwarming to see the love for this little "fighter"..........
My son bought T-'shirts for everyone who donatred and the people at the "walk" all wore them.......by the way Grayson's donations to Shriner totaled $8,800.00, and she got a crystal plak for being the highest donor to Shriner's Hospital........and also the Shriner's Mascot
Bear, which I will show you a picture of...........thanks to all of you for folowing Grayson's journey ....and for your prayers........I will be forever grateful..........

Good Morning Crazies,
Colorado, Let us know when you have your mammogram. We will all be in your pocket that day sending our combined good thoughts.
eggroll, I'm glad you were able to get out of the house. Sounds like you had a fun filled day. Distraction is definitely the best medicine while we are waiting on results. I've always been in awe to see small children controlling large horses. One of my nieces used to compete in dressage, and my heart always fell into my stomach when they would do the jumps. I hope you're able to get some answers tomorrow. Please let us know how it goes when you can.
Sula, Wow, how exciting to be invited to Jacques Pepin's party!! I remember reading he had a stroke earlier in the year but was doing well. That's so awesome you get to go!!! The food, the table, the cake....all look fabulous!!! Thanks for the morning drool!!
Good morning to you too, M0mmy!! Hugs right back to you!!
Ducky, LOVE those pictures. Just like you to do the whole walk when I know you're hurting. Such a wonderful cause. Grayson is just stunning. She always has the biggest, brightest smile on her face. Brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for sharing the day with us!!
Cooler day today in Southern California. It rained last night and cooled everything down. Such a crisp, fresh morning. Short lived though....the temps will be rising into the 90's toward the end of the week. I really can't wait for the cooler weather to stay longer than a few days. I'm ready for fall!!!
Happy Sunday to all!!

Sula, I am in awe that you will be cooking dinner for Pepins, that is going to be very special. Did not know he had been ill this year although the last few shows I saw with him. he looked a bit frail
hurting tonight, did too much at the gym today. Thing is it was only 10 minutes on the treadmill. Dang it all
seems like fall has arrived, can hardly believe it

Sula, omg, you are making me starve! Can you come to our March chemo group reunion and teach us to cook lol! I think we are planning on Lake Arrowhead in March or April. I am salivating thinking about all the Indian food you cook!

in this war, I think of my boobs as "collateral damage". I just loved seeing this today and wanted to share

So went to crazy town today. Had some pain in my right side, immediately went to liver mets. Darling husband said I think you have gas. Your colon is there. Well, guess what. About an hour later, rumblings and you guessed it, gas.
I hate that this crappy disease can shoot me into panic mode over stupid aches and pains, and GAS!

yup- here we all are, shivering under the bigtop!
I'm so glad your husband is socalm and wise, and your stay in CT today was brief!

Love that poster, Katy! We ARE much more than our boobs!
Ducky, Adorable pictures of precious little girls!
Theresa, I hear you! With my high tumor marker and having 5 clear scans, I still have scary thoughts every time I have a pain. Also go crazy when blood test time. WHY is the tumor marker high????

Good evening, crazies. I will keep it short. Ducky, what a lovely series of pictures of your little one. There is such joy on her face.
Sula, the food looks amazing.
Katy, your activism continues to be inspiring.
Italy, yeah, I resent the way those random aches and pains suddenly take on cosmic significance.
I've been laying low today. Had two major expeditions in the last two days: Friday to the surgeon's office on the upper east side of Manhattan and yesterday to an afternoon concert of my husband's band. This was on a barge that's anchored on the east river; with the incipient hurricane, we weren't sure until the day before that it would even happen. And it did happen, but it was cold on that boat!
Today I paid the price and was forced to remember that I am not quite two weeks post surgery. I took a morning nap, then a bit of an afternoon nap. And here it is 9:00, and I'm already thinking about bedtime. We'll see what tomorrow brings!

Ducky
Grayson is beautiful and it is so wonderful all the support she has received and in turn has 'given back' . What a joy and such a positive force she has!

Eggroll
Glad you had a 'day off' and enjoyed some activities outside of CT!

I hope and pray one day she will walk alone.......no more wheel chair, braces around so she can sit up.....be able to run and play with her twin sister and many cousins........its just not fair because one egotistical Doctor decided he could pull her out of the birth canal feet first, and tore her spine........
One day she will walk, but for now she works hard and smiles through it all...............she goes to therapy 4 days a week, and has been doing this for 3 1/2 long years...............and the poor thing is only 4 years old............she cries through some of it, but always keeps doing it......
Shriner's has been so good to her........she has been all over the country looking for solutions, but Shriners turned out to be the one place where Spinal Cord injuries are a priority.............we pray for her.....

Ladies of CT
I hope everyone is easeful tonight.
Rain- how has the weekend been?
Octo are you in DC now? how was your flight?
I'm back from MV- settled in. But definitely feeling crazy... I am finding that I can't focus on anything and more disturbing, just don't want to. I feel better physically and that makes me want to plan things, but I don't trust it's 'true' or will last and in fact think, as I always believed, that the 'treatment' makes us unwell.
angry and grappling and obviously rambling
researching and interviewing a new therapist top on my list for this month
ok maybe a mom post will be next

Christine- welcome home. Missed you. I would love to see and hear more about the mothership.
On tenterhooks....
Good for you to get a new therapist. Rooting for you.

Hi Gaia and hugs to all the crazies all....well, no, I am not on the east coast. and won't be. :-( more later but I've been just achy, congested, felt like a cold coming on...then this am I spiked a fever that won't go away. hovering around 99.9 which is high for me. and vision issues, which makes reading your posts difficult. MO says rest and call him if it goes higher, or isn't gone by tomorrow. it isn't clear if these are just common cold symptoms or SEs that are worse than round one and won't go away, and well, I don't want to go on because I will start to cry and feel sorry for myself, but trip won't happen. :-( which means no NYC either, which also sucks. :-( If I am quiet for a bit I am with you in spirit, just can't read well right now. But I am really glad you asked, it made me feel missed, which I needed. thanks.
My mom stories are epic. Someday soon I will feel better and will tell them

Quick morning hello
Octo I am sorry you are under the weather- I hope you can curl up and really take care of yourself- tea/hot water bottle/ compress on your head..... sending you warm hugs.
Rain I hope you are continuing to rest too! 2 weeks out isn't very long and being on that barge was probably a big strain! take it easy for a few days.
Slow- was so blah last night sorry I forgot to acknowledge your mom story. Saving the food/pizza; epic. and laughing and also laughing cause she knew you watched it all and probably always 'knew' you would time 'getting out of trouble' based on when you saw her leave work! love it.
Mommy thanks for all the morning hugs!
Katy- yes I paused therapy when I moved in January for a bunch of reasons, mainly time and also feeling that a lot that we were exploring was in good flow..... anyway then the 'shit hit the fan' and just haven't had the space to explore what's next on that front- I love the person I worked with, modern psychoanalysis, but I think I want something a little more directed to day to day emotions right now... anyway it's a priority this month.
A general and heartfelt good morning to all- I'm getting out the door to head to Herceptin land......
so more crazy to come later!

Worrying today for our schools and colleges...................not sure how far the news story has gone, but the same website that the lunitic in Oregon was on has posted a warning to Philadelphia........
The FBI and Homeland SEcurity has taken it seriously that at 2pm today something serious is going to happen at one of the nearby schools in Philadelphia.............and we have a lot of schools in Phila, and the surrounding area's.............
Pray for our area today..................0 -
